But you just got here!
FUN FACT: Heresy was also a classic hardcore band, which implies that hardcore fans shouldn't mind a little bit of Heresy at all.

A fellow Dutchman, I see! I'm only here for the geekery, to be honest. WH40K is pretty much a thing that I follow without playing it myself. I kinda like the over-the-top grim darkness and the bombastic lore.

The Ruinous Powers might be a bit too much for you, then. Or the Tyranid. The Sado-Eldar are perhaps even worse.

All things considered, GW is slowly pushing the franchise out of XTREMEGRIMDARK into a more streamlined, family-friendly sci-fi territory (one needs only to compare the Primaris Marines with the 2nd/3rd Edi stuff), which I am sure has nothing to do with their ambitions to reach out to ever bigger demographics and other forms of media at all.

Plus there are kids books now...
To be honest even since towards the end rogue trooper there has been a general cleaning up of 40k imagery but they have generally been pretty good at keeping some stuff that shows more of the true horror and horribleness of the setting and occasionally some stuff gets revamped to bring the edge back. Compare ere we go/freebooterz/2nd edt orks who were mostly just a fun army of amusing green cartoon insanity to the much harsher and cruel post 3rd edt feel.
Better downplay Slaanesh, then. Other aspects of the WH40K universe might also not go well with helicopter parents.

Conserative Morality wrote:"It's not time yet" is a tactic used by reactionaries in every era. "It's not time for democracy, it's not time for capitalism, it's not time for emancipation." Of course it's not time. It's never time, not on its own. You make it time. If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.

Evil VS Evil.
Nope no good just various degrees of horrible. Even the few shining beacons of noble bright have some degree of darkness attached.
It's deliberate to make it easier for folks to get into armies other than the space marines who on the surface "the good guys".
If you like the idea of humanity surviving then the imperium, with all it innumerable faults, is as good as it gets.
