WELCOME

The IAC-OC, as well as DISC, welcome you to Drawkland for the first time in Independents Cup history! The great Drawkian cities of Raikennax and Kayo will play host to this beautiful edition of the Cup for the "sports regionally homeless." 24 skilled and determined nations will compete in the coming days, but only one will be crowned champion. Will it be one who've topped the Independent world before, or will a newcomer take us all by surprise? There's only one way to find out.

This is the Everything thread for IAC-7. Any of the 24 participating nations are able and encouraged to post rosters and RPs in this thread. Any nations not competing in this IAC are advised against posting in this thread, unless you have good reason. Anything else will be reported as spam. OOC chatter of any kind should be placed on the signup thread, as this thread is for IC content only.

FORMAT

With a lighter load of 24 nations competing in this edition of the IAC, it'll be a smaller format than everyone is probably used to at this point. As per the usual, this tournament will be scorinated with xkoranate (0.3.3), using the SQIS formula and additive style modifiers. RPs will be graded generously, as most nations here are unranked. The current WCC rankings, if applicable, will be applied to a nation if they are ranked (though they will be mathematically reduced to be fairer to the new unranked nations, they will still be applied). To get this bonus, a WCC-ranked nation MUST post a roster on this thread.

The group stage will be single round-robin, containing 6 groups of 4. Three of the groups will be hosted in Raikennax, while the other three will be hosted in Kayo. 12 teams will qualify for the playoffs, the top 2 from each group. After qualifying, the teams will be seeded among the other teams on their side (6 Raikennax teams, 6 Kayo teams) into a single elimination bracket. The top 2 nations from each side will get a bye from the first round. A third-place match will be held as well as the final.

The group stage tiebreakers will be as follows: Points, Goal Differential, Head-to-Head Points, Goals For, RP Bonus, Coin Flip.

WELCOME to DRAWKLAND

Intro
Welcome all nations of the IAC to the shores of Drawkland for the first time! For those that aren't aware, Drawkland is the largest and most prominent nation on the planet/region of Sonnel. While several nations throughout Sonnel, especially Juvencus, are active in sports both domestic and abroad, Drawkland is undoubtedly the nation with the widest number of competitors and fans. As fans traveling from other nations to watch their teams compete, you will find that your experience in Drawkland will likely be pleasant and well-accommodated. Drawkians are very proud of their nation and always try to go the extra mile to make sure visitors and tourists have a great experience. What better way to prove Drawkland is the greatest Sonnelian nation?

Travel
Many nations competing in this IAC likely aren't located on Sonnel. Fortunately, Drawkland has many transportation services which travel to regions far and wide throughout the multiverse. No matter where you're located, you're never more than a spaceship or portal plane ride away. If these don't jive with your tech levels, feel free to ignore all this and just travel in normal planes here. I certainly don't mind.
When in Drawkland, your best bet within the cities of Raikennax and Kayo are the well-adjusted bus and light rail systems, as well as the subways and ridesharing systems throughout. Between cities, your best bet is airline travel or long-distance trains or airships. Low-orbit flights are much quicker, but also much more expensive. Although if you have the time, renting a car and taking a road trip between the cities would be a great way to experience the vast natural and man-made beauty Drawkland has to offer in that section of the nation.

Weather
While Raikennax and Kayo are over a thousand miles apart, they are along approximately the same latitude, meaning their temperatures and climates are relatively similar. This IAC is being held in the early summer in Drawkland, and being in the more central area of the continent, you can expect the temperature to be relatively warm, in the 80-90 degree Fahrenheit range. Raikennax is about as far inland as one can get, so its climate is quite predictable. Rain should be light, if any, and the weather will mostly be partly cloudy. Kayo, on the other hand, is nearly a coastal city, so heavy rainfall and cloud cover can happen on a day-to-day basis, or not at all. Pack a rain jacket just in case, but matches will more than likely be warm and dry.

Cuisine
Despite the two hosting cities being quite far apart, Drawkian cuisine is pretty consistent throughout the nation. As a whole, the Drawkian palette is heavily focused on carbs, dairy, and savory proteins. Food one would describe as American pub style, Italian, or Mexican are the most common in Drawkland (although they weren't influenced from those particular sources, obviously). Raikennax, being inland and part of the greater Callagardet sector, has a larger emphasis on the grains and field-grown foods. Kayo obviously features a much more seafood-based diet in most restaurants thanks to its proximity to the coast. These are both large metropolis cities though, so you can find any kind of food if you look hard enough.

Hosting
In both cities, a single stadium will host all the games for a particular group. The first game listed in the scorinated results is an afternoon game, with the intended kickoff at 1pm local time. The second game listed is an evening game, beginning at 6pm local time (to allow adequate time for the earlier match to conclude, and the stadium to be vacated/cleaned). While not all of the stadia hosting matches necessarily host association football normally, all playing surfaces have been repainted or slightly modified to host soccer games with no issues. Make sure to check your group's specific stadium and city for more information. Please note that while these stadiums have massive capacities that may be overwhelming for some nations, these seating numbers are relatively normal for Drawkian standards. Especially note that both Raikennax and Kayo are large cities with storied sports programs, which cause them to have large capacities even for Drawkians.

SEVEN STARS STADIUM

While Raikennax and Kayo will be taking center stage for a majority of the tournament, we couldn't pass up another opportunity for Seven Stars Stadium to host a championship match. Built during World Cup 79 specifically to host the Final match, Seven Stars Stadium is one component of a much larger Centivar County Complex. Seven Stars Stadium is a massive and beautifully constructed indoor arena with the highest level of arcane arts and modern technology combined in its construction. An indoor arena with a retractable vaulted roof, Seven Stars holds a massive 250k fans within it, combining several decks of seating as well as massive multi-level columns for additional seating and luxury boxes.The surface is a combined turf/natural grass to mix the advantages of both. Nano technology allows it to be colored via electronic controls, making switching between sports easy at the press of a button.

So far, Seven Stars Stadium has held only one match at the international level: the World Cup 79 final for which it was constructed. Since then, it has hosted several Drawkian domestic championships in various sports, but now, the Independents Cup 7 final will be held here as well, adding a new duo of nations to those who have the honor of playing in one of the most iconic stadia of the NationStates multiverse.

WELCOME to RAIKENNAX

History
As with most huge cities across Drawkland, Raikennax is an ancient city which traces its roots back to before Drawkland was founded as a nation several thousand years ago. The territory of Callagardet had been a land of mainly nomadic and tribal gatherings, while the settlements of Iarocavet in the north were more permanent and feudal in nature. Raikennax, being in the cradle of both areas, took a mix from both societal structures. In the foothills of Valsum, the massive volcano in Drawkland's center, Raikennax was established as a castle stronghold in the style of the north. However, the people there still took a nomadic lifestyle. This was the place where the southernmost of the northern kingdoms could come and trade with the southern and western tribes, without too much difficulty for both.
Raikennax, being in such a central and strategic location for multiple territories, played a major role in the Great Kingdom War that eventually led to Drawkland being founded as a unified nation. Because of its status as a trading hub that surpassed cultural barriers, as well as being in a central location, Raikennax grew quickly as a city. Eventually it became one of the largest cities south of the Metro District (which is famous for harboring several huge cities), and stands today as one of the most culturally important Drawkian towns.

Sports
Raikennax's status as a major city obviously led to it quickly becoming a sports hub. As the Iarocavetian cities up north quickly took to professional sports as they came, Raikennax was one of the first cities south of that territory to take up professional sports. This turned out to be a great move, as their various teams enjoyed a great deal of success, being able to draw from a larger southern recruiting base since most other cities in those regions had not yet organized teams. This early dominance stayed with the city for years, and stands even to this day.
The most successful of the Raikennax franchise is arguably the Raikennax Charge, the DLK team in the city. The ladies of the Charge have been a force to be reckoned with, especially recently, and rival even the Drawk City sides in pedigree. Also of note is the gridiron team in the Raikennax Stallions, who have a similar level of success. The Lions (basketball) and Eruptors (baseball) have not shared this success, but they're far from middling sides. One can also not forget the University of Raikennax, one of the most storied university sports programs in the nation.

Tourism
When not watching some of the high quality IAC football, visitors have a smorgasbord of attractions in the area to choose from. The aforementioned historical city, with the immaculately-kept original castle walls and interior, is definitely at the top of the list for any tourists. Of course, the looming silhouette of the mountain Valsum can be seen on the eastern horizon, and any outdoorsy and adventurous visitors could take a day trip out to hike the various foothills and mountains, or take a guided tour through Valsum national park.
Raikennax is also home to a lively downtown scene, as well as a great deal of parks and green spaces scattered throughout town. Those willing to take longer day trips could consider nearby towns, such as Esmereldane and Ifferdam Station (known for being huge shipping hubs for the regional agriculture systems), or more rural destinations. The metropolises of the Metro District may be a little out of reach for a day's trip ... but if your team makes the final you'll have to travel up there anyway!

CASTLE STADIUM

Hosting: Group A Matches, Raikennax Semifinal, Third Place Match
The largest of all stadiums in Raikennax, Castle Stadium is the home of the vaunted Charge. One of the "big three" stadiums around 150k capacity outside of the Metro District, this one has hosted a fair share of domestic championship games, and has been renovated and improved many times over the years. As the name might suggest, the exterior of the stadium was modeled to look like a castle from the exterior, echoing the storied history and mythos of Raikennax's early days. The stadium is open-air, as the Raikennax climate is mostly mild. Castle Stadium has previously hosted matches during Cup of Harmony 70 #BIGGUNSBIGGOALS

Group A teams will enjoy the perfectly-kept grass playing surface of Castle Stadium, and the fans will likely enjoy the well-kept accommodations. Located on the north side of town, the stadium was built at the top of one of the foothills of the greater Valsum mountain range. One can see the stadium from afar, and looking out from the upper terraces one has a great view of the sprawling city. It isn't too far from the center of the city though, and is actually the closest to the airport. It shouldn't be too hard to find a hotel within walking or a quick ride's distance from the stadium.

STAD-STALLION
Raikennax, Drawkland | Capacity: 131,000 | Raikennax Stallions (gridiron)
Hosting: Group B Matches, Raikennax Quarterfinals
Stad-Stallion may stand in the figurative shadow of Castle Stadium, but it can still hold its own as one of the premier venues in both the city and the nation. The Raikennax Stallions are powerhouses not unlike their sisters in the Charge, and their stadium is big to prove it. The most notable feature of the stadium, other than its size, is the huge bronze stallion statue located on the western end of the stadium at the top of the lower bowl. The lower section of the stadium is one cohesive bowl, but the upper levels form a horseshoe, with the western side open to prominently display both the huge main scoreboard and the aforementioned stallion statue (lovingly nicknamed "Big Red"). This stadium also held several Cup of Harmony 70 #BIGGUNSBIGGOALS matches.

The Stad-Stallion may be a gridiron stadium in nature, but fans will still feel at home watching their Group B nations battle it out on the turf. Stad-Stallion is located on the western outskirts of town, out on its lonesome. It'll be hard to miss when you're nearby, but unfortunately a little bit harder to get to. The airport is on the northeastern end of town, and there's only a few hotels out near the stadium. You may have to invest in cab rides, a rental car, or the light rail to get to matches.

RED KNIGHT FIELD

The final of the three Raikennax venues is the home of the University of Raikennax athletics. UofR is one of the most dominant athletic programs in the nation, especially in gridiron and soccer. The university teams' nickname are the Red Knights, and Red Knight Field is the home to both the gridiron and soccer teams. The fans are rabid, and Red Knight field is one of the biggest in Drawkland's collegiate system. As far as construction, the stadium is not too fancy, with a large tiered bowl making up the majority of the seating, and two upper decks on the north and south side of the field which were added when the stadium was renovated and expanded. This will be the first foray of not only Red Knight Field in hosting international play, but Drawkian collegiate venues in general.

Despite the collegiate tenants, Red Knight Field is in no way inferior to its fellow stadia in the Raikennax area, and Group C fans and players will find their experience enjoyable. The stadium itself is located in the heart of the University of Raikennax campus, which is itself just outside the heart of the city. Housing and transportation is incredibly easy to find around here, and you'll be within walking distance of some of the downtown area's best attractions. Matches will be really easy to get to, especially if you book one of the hotels bordering the outskirts of the sprawling University campus.

WELCOME to KAYO

History
While Raikennax has had a major role in the pre-Drawkland days of history, Kayo arguably was even more important. Kayo is the capital city of the Kanyoet Territory, and was the seat of power in the region before Drawkland formed as a nation. It was here that the Queendom which eventually gave birth to Kanyo was located. Kanyo is one of the founding members of Drawkland and currently one of its immortal Drawkionels. She was the first to be found by Iarocav in his early explorations of the continent, and was the first to possess a territory rivaling his own in power and size. Kanyo's forces were instrumental in helping Iarocav in the Great Kingdom War which pitted those two against the forces of Callagard and Malicoll.
The city itself is one of the oldest in Drawkland. Situated on one of the eastern peninsulae of Drawkland, Kayo surrounds a large lake which empties into the nearby ocean. Because of this, it enjoys the benefits of being both an inland town and a coastal one. The original center of the city was a massive citadel split into 12 sections, with a central castle where the queens of the land lived. This is where Kanyo still resides some of the time, although she now has residences across the nation. Since these ancient days, the city has expanded more and more as technology and infrastructure grew. Kayo is the third-largest city in Drawkland and the largest outside of the Metro District (specifically Drawk City and Metropolon).

Sports
While sports aren't the strongest suit of most cities in the Kanyoet territory, Kanyo herself has made sure that the teams in Kayo were always well-funded and fitted out well. The home DLK side, the Kayo Queens, are the most successful of the 3 professional sides in the city, being consistent playoff contenders year in and year out. The Globes (gridiron) and Miners (basketball) are not as fortunate, but they're far from the worst in their respective leagues. The Queens are famous for their all-too-common 1-0 wins at home and on the road, unusual for Drawkian sides but enough to bring them consistent success. Queen's University, the most prominent of the city's many universities, isn't the best in the sporting world either, but they're certainly the cream of the crop for Kayo itself (however sour the crop may be).

Tourism
The old citadel of Kayo is 100% the place to be for the city. As with most old and massive Drawkian cities, the old and historical parts of the city are as well-kept as can be, specifically for historical and tourism purposes. Also, the lake the city surrounds is pretty clean considering its locale, and so your average lakefront tourist trap attractions are definitely a go-to, especially for families. Also in the city are many museums, the most prominent being the art, history, and history of art museums (all technically different institutions). Also, one of Drawkland's biggest animation studios is headquarted in town, so you could check that out if it suits your fancy.
For a quick and easy day trip you could visit the Oreme Ocean coast, which is not far from the city (as we've previously mentioned). Multiple-day trips could take you further inland, to perhaps visit the vast mountains and forests that are hallmarks of Kanyoet. Other large cities in the near-ish area include Bethelm, Kilnelm (major DLK cities), Quinnaber, and Unportade. Kayo is the largest city anywhere near the region though, so you'll probably find enough to do in town while you're there.

KANYO PITCH

Hosting: Group D Matches, Kayo Semifinal
Just like Kayo is the largest city outside of Drawk City and Metropolon, Kanyo Pitch is the largest stadium outside of Drawk City. With massive columns marking the exterior, and a fashionable stone-textured facade right smack in the middle of downtown, it's one of the more iconic and beautiful stadia in the nation. The luxury accommodations are top-notch, and the seating for the hundreds of thousands of regular fans aren't bad either. In a similar manner to the citadel of Kayo, Kanyo Pitch's grandstands are arranged in a perfectly circular bowl, and a similarly circular upper deck. The bowl itself is split into 12 large sections to further mimic the citadel appearance. This will be the third time Kanyo Pitch has held international matches, the first being Baptism of Fire 65 and the second being World Cup 79.

Being in the center of town, there is no shortage of hotels and public transportation to make life easy for those commuting to and from Kanyo Pitch. Players in Group D will also enjoy the grass pitch of the Pitch, and surely the atmosphere will not disappoint. The only issue is that the airport is further from the center of town, so getting their in the first place will be the only issue. Still, the expansive public transport will surely be a boon here.

KAYODOME
Kayo, Drawkland | Capacity: 130,500 | Kayo Globes (gridiron)
Hosting: Group E Matches, Kayo Quarterfinals
The KayoDome is one of the larger indoor stadiums Drawkland has to offer. The Globes, Kayo's gridiron squad, play their home games out here. While the quality of play on the pitch may be a little shoddy, the stadium containing it surely isn't. The KayoDome is located only a few blocks away from Kanyo Pitch, and is only slightly smaller. The KayoDome is also nearly a perfect circle, and the Dome itself is rounded and semi-transparent. To go along with the Globes' name, the Dome topping the stadium was built to be etched with a pattern resembling Drawkland's hemisphere of the Sonnelian globe. In direct sunlight, the landmasses from the dome shine down on the pitch in a slightly different color, like stained glass. The effect is beautiful and the main attraction of the stadium. The seating arrangements are nothing special, but are still more than world-class. This will be the first, and hopefully not the last, time the KayoDome hosts matches on the international scale.

As we said, the KayoDome is a stone's throw away from Kanyo Pitch, and even share some parking facilities. Normally this would be an issue, especially since matches will be held in both stadiums at the same time, but we don't expect many visitors to be driving in cars, nor to be packing out the capacity of both venues. Public transport is your friend here, especially if you're in one of the more extravagant hotels downtown.

ENCHANTRESS STADIUM

The Queen's University Enchantresses, while subpar in the realms of the greater Drawkian collegiate sports scene, are still vastly ahead of their competition in town. They facilities aren't exactly the largest by Drawkian standards, but they're still likely impressive for those who aren't used to such scale. Enchantress Stadium is a pretty basic bowl, with only one upper deck grandstand on the home-field side. The seating and other amenities are run-of-the-mill compared to the other hosting venues here, but it's far from a dump. This is the first time this stadium will be hosting anything on this scale and probably the last.

Group F's teams will play on the turf surface designed to host both gridiron and soccer games. The University campus is actually on the opposite side of the lake from the Citadel and other downtown attractions, but they're still within viewing distance. You'll likely want to find hotels around the campus, which are plentiful. Like the University of Raikennax, Queen's University has a solid transport system that should make traveling to games easy, especially since the stadium is more towards the edges of the campus.

FIELD FORMATION
TEAM HISTORY
This is the official form of the roster, with a Reserve Lineup in addition to the Main Starting Lineup. The Main Lineup is full of familiar faces, but the Reserve Roster now has some new blood who first got exposure to international play last qualifying campaign. This is the lineup personally selected by the Drawkian International Sporting Council (DISC) to represent Drawkland: those chosen are undeniably the best at what they do and excel under the team chemistry and dynamic.
Drawkian soccer, and indeed, sporting in general, is mostly offensive-minded. This is reflected in the style indicator and in the formation. Drawkian soccer has not really been exposed to outside influences, and thus may look or feel strange to those used to "normal" football. Nevertheless, the players are still good at what they do, and prize in an enduring game, moving the ball around nearly constantly and keeping energy going, aiming to tire out the opposing team. Of course, Drawkians aren't humans, but you can read about that elsewhere. Oh yes, and Drawkian Soccer is a female-only sport. This may change, but not for a *long* time. This is because Gridiron Football is all-male, and the other two major sports, Baseball and Basketball, are mixed-gender. If there's anything a Drawkian loves, it's even formats and symmetric paradigms, hence why things shook out like they did. Just like the history of the nation, the history of Omerican football has been rocky. The nation was one of fifty-six to début in Baptism of Fire 56, where the team made the knockout stage with an undefeated record before bowing out to Lons after extra time in the last 32. The Griffons subsequently floundered for several cycles, finishing below expectations in tournament after tournament and struggling to find their footing. But fortunes turned around during the Campionato Esportiva in the Sarian, where Omerica unexpectedly won their group and made the quarterfinals after defeating Yttribia. Despite falling to runners-up Nephara in a close match, the tournament marked a significant turn in fortunes: a bitter (and, to Osarians, infamous) third-place finish in the World Cup 73 qualifiers, two consecutive knockout stage qualifications and Round of 16 exits and—the nation’s crowning moment of glory—an upset qualification for World Cup 74, where the team scalped Flardania and nearly advanced to the knockout phase.

However, success proved short-lived. After boycotting CE XVI in Falatulu, the Omerican Football Federation found itself mired in a corruption and betting scandal. Combined with a riotous fanbase which had caused numerous bouts of destruction, the scandal dogged the team’s World Cup 75 qualifying campaign and ultimately brought the OFF to an untimely end, ordered dissolved by the Sessions Court of the Metropolitan Arrondissement and liquidated to cover the fines issued to its executives. In the aftermath of the scandal, the republican football associations, which had predated and existed parallel to the OFF, formed the United Republican Soccer Federation to take over the OFF’s functions and opted to indefinitely pull Omerica from international competition. Half a decade later, a new national team emerged to contest the Independents Cup and, after much internal debate, the World Cup with little success.

The Space Team compete usually in the Independant Cup. If they do not compete in the 7th cup they will still enjoy to play a match so you can arrange the match to play. If it is not in the country of the host the match can be played IN SPACE! The Academy of Space is home to a fully enclosed, gravity containing event facility known as the "Extraterrestrial Dome of Sport". The dome is constructed of clear plasticized glass allowing a clear view of the stars and planets above. The dome rotates with respect to its surroundings during matches for enhanced viewing, though any nearby stars (Stars within 2 or fewer Astronomical Units) will remain on the backside of the playing field to prevent glaring and temperature control. The Dome of Sport also serves as the official training facility for Team Space Team in preparation for international competition and away games.

After a relatively strong campaign in the qualifying stages for world cup 82 got followed by a relatively mediocre second campaign in the world cup in Apox which ultimately saw the team crashing out from the group stages, the team's expectations have radically changed, since they were too high and the pressure was put on to the young, talented squad. While, the less offensive tactic of the new coaches worked wonders, the team will be testing an even more aggressive one, going all in and utilising the speed and stamina of their young places, hopefully providing results while bringing them back into their comfort zone. The Independents Cup 7 sees the gli attaccanti as one of the favourites to win the whole thing and while the aim is to win the cup, obviously, the main reason would be to have a better campaign than the last few disappointing campaigns in the competition and improve as a squad as well as develop a better chemistry, something that may be lacking in an ever-changing squad such as this. Scordato's team enters the competition with hunger for improvement, instead of hunger for trophies, such as in campaigns immediately after the victorious Cup of Harmony 71 campaign.

About the Union of Socialist Alpine Republics

History:

Football is played in Prusy Krolewskie since the beginning of the 20th century. Prusy Krolewskie's first international games were in the baptism of fire 59, the Reprezentacja Pruski finished 2nd in group F and lost to Santaclausisgodistan in round of 16. In the World Cup 72 qualifications, Prusy Krolewskie finished fifth in group 5 with a 5-3-6 record. Prusy Krolewskie was then missing in action until we come back for the XI olympiads and the World Cup 76 where we finished 6th in group 6 with a 2-2-8 record. Prusy Krolewskie was invited at the Cup of Harmony and did very poorly. Then, the Reprezentacja Pruski participated in the 1st Independents Cup, for nations outside of the big three regions, but had a bad tournamant either. Prusy Krolewskie tried to qualify for the World Cup 77 and failed, but still had a pretty good run, enough to crack the top 100 in the KPB rankings and recieve an invitation to the Cup of Harmony 69. Prusy Krolewskie finished 3rd in its group with a 0-2-1 record.

In 2018, every nations in North Eurasia formed a superstate called Union of Soclialist Alpine Republics. The Alpine Union inherited Prusy Krolewskie's rank and participated in the Independents Cup II but lost all three games. The USAR tried to qualify for the World Cup 78 but finished 4th in group 8 with a 8-3-5 record, this is the best result so far for Prusy Krolewskie/USAR. At the Cup of Harmony 70, the Alpine Union had one win and two losses in 3 games. Then in the Independents cup III, the Alpine Union finished first in group C with 3 wins an no loss and beat Devonta in the round of 16 but lost against Bojikstan in the quarter finals. The Alpine Union tried to qualify for the World Cup 79, but the team failed miserably. Finally at the Independents cup IV, the Alpine Union lost 1–1 (1–2 AET) in the semi final and 3–3 (3–4 AET) in the 3rd place matchup.

The Bisons tried to qualify again for the World Cup 80. They were 3rd with a 5-2-2 record at the half but did poorly with a 2-0-7 record for the 2nd half with an overall record of 7-2-9. The Alpines was a late invitee at the Cup of Harmony 72 and finished 2nd in group G with a win and two draws. The Alpine Union lost 2-0 against Mercedini in the round of 16. The Alpine Union participated in the Independents Cup 5 and finished first in group C with a 4-0-0 record. The Bisons won 4-1 against Omerica in the round of 16 but lost 2-1 against North Prarie in quarter finals.The Reprezentacja Alpejski tried to qualify for the World Cup 81, but failed again in qualifications, finishing in 4th place in group 14 with a 9-4-5 record. The Alpine Union was pissed for not making the World Cup and refused an invitation to the Cup of Harmony. The Bisons participated in the Independents Cup 6 with a bunch of left outs because out best players were playing simultaneously in a domestic cup. The Reprezentacja Alpejski finished 2nd in group B with a 2-1 record and won in the round of 16 but lost 1-1(1-1 AET, 4-3 pens.) against Drawkland in the quarterfinals. 5th place in group 8 in WC qualifications, the Alpine Union wasn't invited at the next cup of harmony.

The country of Reçueçn is located in western Europe, nestled in the Alps between France, Switzerland, and Italy. The country shows both Germanic and Gallic influences throughout its culture, which is relatively diverse for a nation so small. The country was founded in the thirteenth century, originally in a military conquest by a baron with a touch of megalomania--Carl III of Reçueçn. However, after a rebellion against him, the nation was reformed with a constitution which was incredibly democratic for that time. The form of the government has not changed much since then, and remains intricate and complicated, although it has several modernizing amendments. The government is very decentralized, and individual regions have large amounts of autonomy. Different regions speak different languages, although many Reçuecians learn English to communicate with each other.

The country is very mountainous, with many river valleys and forested mountain-slopes, but also grassy alpine pastures, usually with cows. The tradition of keeping cows and goats in the mountains has had a large affect on the culture of the nation. Thus the roots of the national culture are alpine and agricultural. There is an inclination towards architecture and , more recently, to follow other European neighbors, science. Societal, scientific, and artistic advancement has been helped by the fact that after the rebellion, Reçueçn fell into a long isolationist tradition, and as a result the country has been, as a rule, strictly neutral. This long peaceful history has allowed passion for science, arts, and sport to flourish.

National Team Kits

The team's kit represents the colors of the flag in a quite literal fashion. This kit was first worn by the Unicorns for the 59th Baptism of Fire, and was the team's first kit. Today it is unpopular with fans, who think it is old-fashioned, badly designed, and ugly. Although the RNFA secretly admits that the fans are right and aims to replace the kit soon, they tout them as 'traditional' and promote their value as a connection to the team's past.

The Reçuecian National team is rather defensive, partly due to the large influence of Reçueçn FC on the team. Thanks to some of the more aggressive players on the team (notably Franky Adams), the team has developed its counter-attacks and become more of a threat on the attack. However, Gerald Firaut (Reçueçn's star goalkeeper) and his defense still dominate the game.

The team has had very little national recognition, having taken part in only a couple international tournaments: Reçueçn made it to the quarterfinals in the fifty-ninth Baptism of Fire, taking Panem, the eventual winners of the tournament, all the way to penalty kicks. They afterwards played a friendly against United RussoAsia in "Le 1er Annuel Tournoi Teikei," which they handily won, 3-1. Since then the team has attempted to qualify for the World Cup on two occasions, but never has. Its only other international experience came in the 64th Cup of Harmony. All time record: 7-12-16

The team has struggled in the past, due to the rivalries within Reçuecian domestic football. The players of the national team do not really have enough experience playing with each other to have developed the necessary camaraderie or team spirit yet, but with the reorganization of Reçuecian sport by the newly-founded Ministry of Sport, hopes are high that this will be a new era. The Independent Associations' Cup will be the first place that the "new" Reçuecian team is put to the test. We put new in quotes because most players from the team have returned; there have only been a couple retirements. So we will see if all the old rivalries have been brought back as well.

Roster & Team Information

Manager: Jacques Tremblay, 69 years old. Used to coach for Associated Savoie.
Old and wise, and known for his eternal ability to surprise and innovate, Jacques Tremblay is often seen as the father of modern Reçuecian football. He had retired, but when asked to coach the national team, did not refuse. He, along with Gerauld Firaut, holds together the national team, oft riven with tension.
His new methods brought great players to Associated Savoie, his old RNFA team. His retirement not long before the founding of the RNFA hurt the team greatly. However, five years later, he did not refuse when asked to coach the national team.

GK: Gerauld Firaut, 22 years old. Team captain. Jersey #1. Plays for Reçueçn FC.
Responsible and mature for his age, Firaut is widely considered the best player in Reçeuçn. His star status does not extend outside the country as of yet, however, due to the fact that he is a goalie, and strikers tend to get more fame. His goal-tending skill, however, is unparalleled.

SW: Leo Beck, 26 years old. Jersey #2. Plays for Reçueçn FC.
Beck, when playing with Firaut, helps fill out his team's defensive capabilities, being a stellar defender. Although older than Firaut, he looks up to him as a leader, and is very protective of him, as well as Reçueçn FC's reputation--often causing conflict on the national team.

LB: Ägidius Heissler, 32 years old. Jersey #3. Plays for Itrino.
Can always find a way to trap an attack in the corner, and then get the goal kick. Very tall, and good at heading away corners.

CB: Norman Bright, 30 years old. Jersey #4. Plays for Renwyll.
Can pair well with a good goal-keeper to shut down attacks--if he and the goal-keeper get along. He was widely credited for Renwyll's high performance in the Globe Cup 56.

RB: Oliver Spencer, 21 years old. Jersey #5. Plays for Reçueçn FC.
Another star defensive player from Reçueçn FC, Spencer is often outshone by Firaut, and Spencer can never decide whether the rivalry he thinks they have is more important than team spirit or not.

LM: Clint Soto, 32 years old. Jersey #6. Plays for Ville-Sur-Rivière.
Soto has valuable experience from before the foundation of the RNFA, and has a masterful grasp of tactics and strategy. He has, unfortunately passed his peak of fitness.

AM: Harold Saunders, 25 years old. Jersey #7. Plays for Association Genève.
Saunders is synonymous with an aggressive style of play, especially in the midfield. He seems to always be able to find a way to give the ball to Franky. On and off the field he is emotionally well-balanced, usually rather stoic and unmoved.

RM: Maynard Hebron, 23 years old. Jersey #8. Plays for the Alpine Armageddon.
The unsung hero of the Alpine Armageddon, Hebron is a great proponent of football development across Recuecn, especially on behalf of smaller amateur teams who want to join the RNFL. This can sometimes lead to him having an antagonistic mindset against the big names in the sport.

LW: Hippolyte Lavigne, 29 years old. Jersey #9. Plays for Bayern Heidelberg.
Lavigne can make great crosses, but usually tenses up out of pressure if he has to score himself. Very tall, a leading figure on and off the field.

CF: Frank "Franky" Adams, 17 years old. Jersey #10. Plays for Association Genève.
Young, extremely talented, and rather cocky, Franky, who plays for Association Genève in the RNFL, really makes their team. When he has a bad shooting streak, his team has a losing streak, and vice versa, and he knows it. At Association Genève, the team and the fans love him. At the national team, they tolerate him--his rivalries with Reçueçn FC's players cause tension which Coach Tremblay must try to defuse. Tremblay, incidentally, thinks Franky is a bit conceited, although he is still one of the most conscious of his talent.

RW: Freeman Lebo, 22 years old. Jersey #11. Plays for KlydE FC (Cosumar).
Can score goals, is highly motivated, and persevering. However, he is high-strung and not too difficult to offend, traits which, when combined with his overestimation of his own skill, can make him difficult to get along with. Has lots of potential when a manager can get him to swallow his pride, and Tremblay usually can. Whenever he can't, however, Lebo and Franky tend to argue. One of a few Recuecian players playing abroad. Was Puits Tunnellers main goal-scorer but was disappointed with their last place finish and had trouble getting along with the manager there, both he and the team will be happy to go their separate ways.

Reserves

GK: Jannick Bechtholdt, 29 years old. Jersey #12. Plays for Association Genève.
Association Genève's starting keeper has to alternately put up with being a goalie on a team where it's all about the attack, and being goalie on the national team where he can barely hold a candle to Gerald Firaut. Often ignored, he is still a great player.

SW: Emanuele Cutrona, 20 years old. Jersey # 13. Plays for Harrim FC.
Cutrona is the second new call-up for the National Team, and the only Italian-speaking player on the team (although others are from Italian-speaking clubs). Second youngest player on the squad, besides the precocious Franky.

LB: Paulin Bourguignon, 21 years old. Jersey #14. Plays for Stomford.
Bourguignon is the kind of defensive player who is always trying to clear the ball with long shots and score goals at corner kicks. Big on counter-attacks, he sometimes outpaces the mid-fielders, usually to his coach's dismay.

CB: Lukas Kayserling, 20 years old. Jersey #15. Plays for Hesse Sporting.
Very tall. Calm and controlled. Sometimes has difficulty communicating as he doesn't speak English or French as well as most of the other team members.

RB: Klaus Klemm, 28 years old. Jersey #16. Plays for Chapel-Field House.
Plays defense, but as if he were a mid-fielder. Thinks that because Chapel-Field House comes from the same city as Recuecn FC, they should be just as important.

LM: Luc Pélissier, 30 years old. Jersey #17. Plays for Puits Tunnellers.
Another player with a slightly over-sized ego, Pélissier's skill on the field isn't as great as some others, so he makes up for it usually by either taking someone else's side in an argument, or by boasting about one of his several impressive hobbies. Was partly responsible for the tension that caused Freeman Lebo to leave Puits' Tunnellers.

DM: Grégoire Leclair, 28 years old. Jersey #18. Plays for Association Genève.
Leclair almost never plays at the same time as Saunders. Usually, one is subbed for the other depending on whether more defensive or offensive tactics are called for at the moment. Leclair's specialty is going back and clearing the ball in difficult situations.

RM: Thomas Büchel, 30 years old. Jersey #19. Plays for Reçueçn FC.
Büchel is a very fluid player, who doesn't let himself get locked into the same rut. His best trait is his situational ability, which, when coupled with his dribbling and passing skills, makes him a formidable force when trying to maintain possession or get the ball forward.

LW: Per Tegeler, 23 years old. Jersey #20. Plays for Annedine Sporting.
Good at receiving the ball from the defense or mid-field, trapping it in general, and taking it into the 18-yard box and shooting. Possible weakness is passing: either he doesn't, or it's long air balls.

CF: Ly Nasser, 22 years old. Jersey #21. Plays for Zimmerich FC.
Loves to shoot from far out, and often shoots high. Despite this, he makes up for it with his sheer number of shots. Incredibly aggressive, and loved by Zimmerich fans. Thinks he is one of the best strikers in the world, and he certainly is a good player.

RW: Jean-Baptiste Brochard, 26 years old. Jersey #22. Plays for Lampadaires Associated.
Immensely fast, especially with the ball, Brochard is weaker in set pieces and organized attacks. His strength is the counter-attack and the breakaway.

GK: Helies de Malhortye, 34 years old. Jersey #23. Plays for Reçueçn FC.
De Malhortye has noble blood and is slightly high-strung. Sometimes he is easily offended. Most often, however, he is a solid choice for a back-up goalie. Good at blocking penalties.

The Story So Far:
Of old, there was the Imperium of Squornshelous, rapacious, tyrannical, and presumably still out there behind some self-imposed wall of isolationism and ill humor. Despite its many flaws, it was a powerhouse of international football, qualifying for the World Cup 36 times in 37 attempts, and lifting the trophy in the tournament's 31st edition. Some 85 years ago, all that came crashing down. Riots after an early elimination from World Cup 41 proved the spark that set off a long overdue revolution that eventually saw the western half of the country, largely composed of conquered lands and separated by sea from the Squornshelan mainland, break away to form a democratic state: the Confederacy. This state rejoined the international community after several decades of isolation, and also reinstated the old tradition of football. Making its debut in Baptism of Fire 68, and finishing respectably despite failing to qualify for World Cups 81 and 82, the Confederacy has risen rapidly upward through the rankings to the present day. Many believe that the upcoming cycle will see our return to the Group Stage, and the ascension of this nation to the upper echelons of international football is viewed as an inevitability by some of its more hubristic citizens. The team is known for a style of play that is certainly more on the defensive side, but is far from simply parking the bus.

Having now managed the national team for just over two years, Brenecian Bethany Donnell has named a veteran roster for the IAC, likely hoping to cash in on the chemistry between the core group of players who made their debut in BoF68 before age takes too much of a toll on their abilities. While the Cup of Harmony was treated as somewhat of a youth development tournament, and the SRS bowed out earlier than they had hoped, the Black-and-Reds appear to be in deadly earnest this time out. The familiar attacking lineup of Zonde, Damot, and Tambura playing across the midfield behind Vladcik, Jzvanic, and Ajao. Behind it will be Dzarkhin, Oleb, and Ulcviecel as usual, but Raktsov, after a less-then-impressive domestic campaign with Lublova, is supplanted by Rudi Dalso, the rock at the center of Jaglan's defense. On the bench we find again the familiar pairing of Geladi and Delu, as well as Ystrad, who returns to the national team after earning best-11 honors with Diamondqueen in the Nepharan First Division. Strepol is notably absent from the lineup, as young bucks Stolp and Takala are still jockeying for position in the race to succeed Damot. Ruoho is back, after a real breakout season with champions Brantisvogan, as well as Naqvi, who was a big part of a surprising camaign for Emerald Coast. Teklu, Takala's midfield partner from MSC also appears, as well as Rebljeten, who was of vital importance in the attack for Algolia, and Mikhulat, who was the tip of the spear for the champions, edges out the Superleague goalscoring champion, Gryspos for the final roster spot.

There, she was able to build a smaller club into a consistent lower-league challenger, and the hope is that she can do a similar job with the still fledgling Black-and-Reds. She is viewed very positively in the Confederacy by both fans and SCFA leadership, having delivered a Round-of-Sixteen appearance in her competitive debut at the 6th IAC Championship, and leading the Black-and-Reds to within three points of qualifying for the 82nd World Cup. The vast majority of Confederates are optimistic about the national team's future under her leadership.

Jean-Luc Lassalle and Jacques Tremblay sat together in the audience at the lottery draw for the Independent Associations’ Championship, among the representatives of the other twenty-four nations who would be taking part in the competition. A couple rows of reporters lined the back walls. They made quite the pair—Jacques, the national team coach, had turned 70 this past year, and looked to be the oldest person in the room. Jean-Luc, on the other hand, the Reçuecian minister of sport, was still in his twenties, and barring some of the other nation’s players who were present to represent their teem, and perhaps a reporter or two, was probably the youngest official there. If not for the nametags they wore, a stranger having to guess their roles would surely get them reversed; Jacques was frankly far too old to be the manager of a national team, and it was pretty much unbelievable that Jean-Luc was a federal minister.

The RNFA, Reçueçian football’s governing body, hadn’t bothered to send any representatives along with the manager and the minister. This left them to each other’s company, and they found, to their own surprise, that they got along swimmingly. Although neither of them had any particular gripe with the RNFA, they were able to bond over their relationship with the organization the same way a child and its grandparent might find amusement in conspiring against their “common enemy.” Shared trauma is certainly the best way to build a relationship, and Jean-Luc and Jacques found plenty of material to connect over with the stress of their jobs.

“Trauma” was certainly an exaggeration. Since the formation of the Ministry of Sport at the beginning of the last season, things had been going pretty well in the Reçuecian sporting world. The most recent, and most relevant, piece of good luck, had been Reçueçn’s placement in the third pot for the IAC. As an unranked side, they had expected to face at least three universally ranked teams in the group stage alone. But now they would be drawn against at least one other unranked side—a detail which meant that the chance of advancing to the knockout rounds had risen from ‘unattainable goal’ to ‘faint glimmer of hope.’ Jacques in particular was trying to temper his expectations and focus on the games at hand—he’d have to keep the team on the ball in order to perform. But it was hard not to look ahead.

Jean-Luc and Jacques were both aware of their good fortune this far, and now they were here to see how the group draw would turn out. There was hardly time to evaluate the options and decide which group you hoped you would fall in, since the groups were only decided moments before you were placed in one. Most of the wishing would be after the fact. Yet even as the names flew by, one after the other, the second and third groups began to look like the best draws.

The Drawk representative began by placing Drawkland at the top of the first group, their rightful place as hosts and defending champions. Next drawn was Squornshelan Remnant States, followed by New Lusitania. Juvencus drew fourth and Free Republics fifth, both more highly ranked teams. It was already looking like the Kayo side of the tournament would be the one to avoid for an unranked team. By the time the second pot had been drawn, that hadn’t changed—the Squornshelan Remnant States had drawn the Union of Alpine Republics into their group, meaning group 2 had the lowest and second-lowest ranked teams from the top two pots. Group 3 drew Lisander, ranked about the middle of its pot, so didn’t look too bad. Group 4 added Omerica in with Juvencus—at this point it was definitely the last place the Reçuecians wanted to wind up.

Now they sat on the edge of their seats as the third pot teams were drawn. Fortunately, they didn’t have to wait long. Orestea, the other unranked team in pot 3 was placed in group 1 with the hosts, and then it the moment was here; the draw assistant read out the name slowly, forgetting that the nation names didn’t need translation: “The Allied States of Reçueçn.” Jacques and Jean-Luc grinned and hugged each other. This was essentially the best possible draw they could have hoped for. The cameras caught the moment for the Reçuecian front pages: the Minister and the Manager both beaming at each other, an arm around each other’s shoulder.

The draw was only about half over, but they weren’t following it anymore. At this point, they had bigger things to think about. The main one was how lucky they had gotten. The only result that could possibly have been better in any way would have been to draw Kavagrad in the group rather than the Alpine Union, and even that was only an incremental improvement—a two rank difference. Anyway, who knew how much the team’s rank would matter. It wasn’t about the stats on paper, it was about how you played on the field.

That said, Jacques could already feel the excitement that his players would be feeling. The knowledge that they had gotten a lucky draw would encourage them, and hopefully translate to higher morale, more drive—better play. There were literally thousands of ways the draw could have gone. And Reçueçn had gotten the second-best possibility out of all those permutations! By far it would be the easiest group in the tournament. Jean-Luc was even more excited than Jacques was. Perhaps that was because it was Jacques who first realized that an easy draw for Reçueçn also meant an easy draw for the other teams in the group.

He waited until the draw was over to explain it to Jean-Luc. A reception followed the draw, and the attendees mingled and toasted each other with champagne. The Reçuecians mostly stuck to themselves. Jean-Luc was throwing back a second flute of Champagne in celebration as Jacques outlined the details.

“It’s not just that we get to play an unranked team and the two lowest teams in the top two pots. The of how the Alpine Union must be feeling right now. They were basically at the bottom of their pot. They drew two unranked teams and the Squornshelan Remnant States. They must be ecstatic. And it’s the same for the SRS. They’ve basically got free tickets to the knockouts.”

“Allez, Tremblay, don’t talk like that. You’ve got a great team. They don’t get to the knockouts unless they knock you out first. And look at me.” He paused, looking Jacques in the eye. “I’ve got faith in you. That’s not going to happen.”

A waiter walked past and Jean-Luc traded his glass for a full one. This was a crazy experience. He’d been a sports fan, but he’d also been a politician. And now within a single season, here he was, hob-knobbing with the multiverse’s sport representatives and looking his hero dead in the eyes as his equal. Not even his equal, his boss. It was heady stuff. He took another sip of champagne.

Jacques looked at the full group list one last time. He smiled and shook his head. It wasn’t a bad draw. And he looked at group 4. Now that was a group of death. Omerica, Juvencus, Indusse, Tulize—well, that was a bullet dodged. He turned back to Jean-Luc. “Viens, Lassalle. Let’s go back to Reçueçn.”

After two years away from international soccer, Republican National Soccer Team, LLC reformed two years ago just as its owner and sole proprietor was awarded the title of Soccer General by Consul Kyle Bolton. Soccer General Rule Theriault held open tryouts throughout the FFR to find the best young soccer players and the hottest high school cheerleaders in the Federation and get them under contract to Republican National Soccer Team, LLC. After travelling across the Federation and holding 60 open tryouts, a total of 27 soccer players and 68 cheerleaders were selected for the team based on their performance, (in the case of the soccer players) game tape and discussions with their coaches. At this time, Theriault is unsure whether any of the players stand out above the rest but he is hopeful that they will be responsible to coaching from the first Soccer General in the history of the Free Republics and his legendary assistant manager Sir Koby Theodore, who shined so memorably in World Cups 68 and 71. While rumor has it that looks were a factor in selecting both the soccer team and the cheerleading squad, Soccer General Rule Theriault denies rumors that Nova Hellstrom-Hancock and Lucia Bolton had a role in selecting players for the soccer team, though he does admit that Sir Koby Theodore and Consul Kyle Bolton hand-picked the cheerleaders.

In the year since World Cup 78, the Free Republics fell into a civil war. Political tensions that had been brewing for a long time between the political mainstream and the progressive left finally boiled over at the Unite the Left rally in Goldberg, Nejax. The small college town, home to the University of Nejax, was the site of disturbing political violence as an extreme progressive ran over 5 people, including University of Nejax pitcher Jurgen Eberhardt, the ace of the school's baseball team. A wave of left-wing domestic terror followed, leading to the passage of the Stop Aggressive Violent Extremism (SAVE) Act which granted extraordinary powers to the Federation Investigation Bureau (FIB) to protect public safety. 32 Republics responded to this by seceding from the FFR to form the Confederacy of Leftist Republics, which quickly became a state sponsor of terror. In the months since, the Republican armed forces have lost battle after battle to the Confederates and the FFR has suffered from many acts of terror, some of which, such as the destruction of the entries into international tournaments of the National Baseball Team and the National Hockey Team have had serious repercussions for Republican international sports. Eventually, the Leftist Republics were defeated and their territory turned into extremist containment zones known as "Charter Societies" as part of an effort to end political extremism in the Free Republics.

As the civil war was going on within the Free Republics, the National Soccer Team somehow managed to qualify for the World Cup, shocking almost everybody throughout the multiverse. However, they did not lost all 3 of their group stage matches that year and very much looked like a fluke qualifier. Last year, the Republican National Team headed into the Independents Cup in Schottia last year, where they announced their return to respectability in international soccer by winning the tournament, albeit with a fairly controversial victory over Mercedini and a poor group stage performance along the way. Then, they managed to qualify for the World Cup again in rather ugly fashion, drawing their first 4 matches, going just 8-7-3 in qualifying and barely managing to finish 3rd in their group. After defeating Apox rather easily in a playoff, they proceeded to lose 2 more World Cup group stage matches before drawing Abanhfleft in a meaningless match on the final day. 2 years ago saw the Republican National Team pick up 3rd place finishes at the Independents Cup, Cup of Champions and World Cup, all of which were held on home soil. Last year was disappointing with the Republicans going out during the group stage at both the Indepedents Cup and World Cup.

Sajnur National Football Team

Sajnur makes its return to the Independents Cup, and with the huge advances the team has made in recent years with its breakout campaign in World Cup 82 Qualifying and the Under-18 team's progression to the knockout stages of the Sporting World Cup, the youth team only having its advance stopped by defending champions and eventual finalists Starblaydia in a high scoring thriller, Sajnur is coming to Drawkland with the hope of making it to the Round of 12. The team has been drawn in Group F, along with 61st ranked Lochario, newcomers Shatla, and a familiar foe in 39th ranked Abanhfleft, who Sajnur met in the previous Independents Cup in Mercedini, that fixture being Sajnur's very first in competitive international football, and resulting in a 3-0 victory for Abanhfleft. The team will be based in the city of Kayo, a bustling metropolis of 19.4 million on the east coast of the vast nation.

The team selected for this Independents Cup is largely the same as the team from the last tournament, but there area few big changes. Most notable is the appearance of Kahala Murje, who didn't appear in the tournament in Mercedini but who has cemented her spot as a starting defender in the senior team, and was made captain of the Under-18 team for their successful campaign at the Sporting World Cup in the Free Republics. Her meteoric rise has come at the expense of Alan Gharici, who has been relegated to the bench, and who is the subject of rumours relating to a possible retirement from international football, or even from football altogether. Other important changes on the bench include the appearance of the young Parjazu, who scored 18 goals in the league last season, in place of Daniel Kerlov, the omission of Piotr Basuliev in favour of another strike option in the towering Basuli Maktar, and the absences of Frederik Tjallor and Samuel Durghi, leaving only two true left back options in the team, both of whom are often seen in the starting lineup at the same time.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - WOMEN

These are tough times for Fleftic football. After having experienced the rise of a so-called "golden generation" of players at right around the same time that Abanhfleft finally joined the greater multiverse, everyone is seemingly losing their heads now that the Fleftic teams are just losing left and right. Rebuilding is the word that everyone knows is being thought but not said, but even that is encountering problems seeing as even Abanhfleft's youth teams are doing very poorly in their competitions. The danger of overperforming in the early years has seemingly finally caught up with the Democratic Republic, and now the Samahang Futbol ng Abanhfleft is having to do everything in its power to reverse a troubling trend and finally get this sports-obsessed nation back on the right track. But is the Independents Cup the right place to do that? There is, as always, only one way to find out.

Stephanie Bryan finally gets to represent the blue, orange, and green once again after over four years of sitting out due to a new reliance on the likes of Yannie Redborne and Yelena Valinovskaya to ride the bench while Victoria Carter is on form, but with Redborne now retiring from international footie and Valinovskaya recovering from ligament repair surgery, Steph will now get the chance to be seen riding the Fleftic bench once again. But whether she will be the long-term replacement for Carter and the rest is still up in the air as there are more promising keepers out there, at least according to Holly Jonasson. Finally gets a run out as the starter for the women's national team, at least for the 5th Independents Cup.

RB: Alma WALKER 24 y/o, Rushmori Drawks

(The Isles of Avon)
Alma Walker is a decent right back who looks destined to be an actual right back instead of the myriad wingbacks who seem to be cropping up like weeds all over Abanhfleft's academies. Alma is actually ambidextrous with her feet and can play in both fullback positions fairly well and effectively (kind of like Tonya Heaton) but she prefers to work on the right side of the pitch. Doesn't mean that she can't do a good job on the left, though.

RCB: Catarina SOLER 32 y/o, Keephall Valkyries

Soler has served as a dependable supporting unit for both center-backs, but once again she is a player that is played out of position in most international games that she gets to play. Soler prefers being a true center-back, but that doesn't mean that she shirks from the responsibilities of being a central fullback shifted a little to the right or the left. Soler had a chance to rise up to the senior women's team but a drop in form coinciding with injuries has kept her out of the national team setup until now. Now Catarina wants to prove that she still has what it takes to be an international quality center back.

LCB: Miranda SULLINS 26 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Women

An exciting prospect if only for the fact that she had gotten herself noticed through the Sporting Ceneisis youth academy, which had been a bit neglected by Artemio Peres in favor of getting players both locally and abroad for as much as his team's Bellinsgauzenian boss is willing to let him spend. Still, it wouldn't do to take away from the fact that she is indeed a good defender, if a bit raw even for the standards of the under-21 teams. And an international call-up such as thing can do no harm to her career. Right?

LB: Deborah RIDDLES 24 y/o, Keephall Valkyries

Right now, she's a left back, but Deborah is a natural wing-back who has the potential to develop into an out-and-out winger. Deborah is currently playing with the defense, but only because that is her best footballing position at the moment. Still loves to throw in a cross and will often clog up the left side of the field alongside the team's out-and-out left wingers.

RM: Stephanie WINTER-SLAUGHTER 25 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Women

(Fhulghamous Peninsula, playing in the Fleftic Ladies' Premier League)
Winter-Slaughter's surname sounds rather weird when you consider her biggest asset is an unprecedented sense of justice, but it really is. Winter-Slaughter, while a competent midfielder with enough room to grow, became much more notorious for her actions both in and outside of the field, often helping opponents and team-mates at distress from injuries or pretty much anything else. Conquered some hearts for her kindness, funnily enough. Stephanie was given Fleftic citizenship on the recommendation of Heinrich Wurzmann after the disappearance of the Unified Sunrise Islands so that Abanhfleft could take advantage of her talents.

LM: ERIN Jensdottir-Jennings 28 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies

We finally come to one of the most controversial additions to Abanhfleft's Independents Cup squad yet. Not a person living in Abanhfleft hasn't heard of the story of Erin Jensdottir and her friend Britt Hanokssen. The two of them had gotten in trouble with an Anglatian gang and their friend Bisera Haralampieva, of Rosen City Ladies and Pridnestrovia women's national team fame, called on another friend of hers to get Erin and Britt out of trouble. They did so by faking Erin and Britt's deaths and substituting them for two dead bodies. Britt and Erin had ended up playing for FC United of Riuwiee in the seventh tier of Fleftic football before they finally came clean about their status, resulting in the biggest ever points deduction in Fleftic football history and a massive settlement package with Hunsen Loggers from United of Riuwiee for both Erin and Britt. Erin is described as the complete playmaker able to operate from deep or right in front with the forwards, which is why Heinrich Wurzmann recommended her naturalization in time for the Independents Cup.

RW: Elene LINER 22 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Ladies

Even at her young age, Elene already has the look of a future fantastic keeper. Well, what else can be said about the Sarvusdalamoive Football Academy, which has turned out great Fleftic keepers like Maksim Varamoninov and Victoria Carter? Unfortunately, she's slipped down the pecking order, but only because Brook Arzate deserves the chance to start this time. She had a lot to make up for after that emotionally devastating penalty shootout loss against Schottia in the 9th Under-15 World Cup and she ended up not having the mental strength to get over the disappointment of the shootout so she decided to become a striker instead. This way she hopes to emulate some of Abanhfleft's star forwards like Matthew Cave and Ruud Akinfenyor who started off as goalkeepers and then decided to make the move up to the top of the pitch.

CAM: Prudence WOODWARD 22 y/o, Duhblakk Aztecs

Prudence Woodward is the third and final player of Panemian descent to represent the blue, orange, and green for the Sporting World Cup. She is the younger sister of Julius Woodward and her future appears to be in central attacking midfield. Prudence is already displaying a taste for clever through-balls and occupying pockets of space in which she could create chances and even score a few goals herself. Prudence has also been rumored to be displaying more than just friendly attention and camaraderie with the team's resident lesbian Poppaea Fleet-Street but that's hardly important to the conversation. LW: Amelie RUSEV 22 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies

Amelie Rusev is the best player on current Fleftic under-18 team after Gareth Williamson. At just 18 years old, she's already looking like the complete winger package. Not only is she both quick and light on her feet and strong in the air and during challenges, she is ambidextrous, able to use both feet to send in long balls and crosses into the box when she wants. With that added crossing ability, Amelie is already on her way to the first team of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies at such a tender age. Kasper Molak will surely look to make Amelie the successor to Raisa Korovina as the next Miss Ludogorets.

ST: Kelly McGINNIS 22 y/o, Hoventon & Corlington Town

(Mercedini)
Kelly McGinnis could very well be the next Chelsea Stuart. Lord knows she's got the raw talent in her veins and her feet. Her only problem is in getting out of Besanza to continue her development and make sure that it's on the right track to actually making her the next Chelsea Stuart. Kelly wants to move abroad to develop herself in a world-class side, and she believes that the Sporting World Cup is her way to gaining that attention and getting that move abroad. She did well in her first stint abroad, winning a domestic cup with Mercedini's Hoventon & Corlington Town, but another potential loan move to the Gallian Union fell through and she's had to stay with Airbus Besanza for this season. This could very well change though as another opportunity could be opening up for her, but it's going to take her much farther away from the Fhulghamous than just Mercedini...

RESERVES
GK: Ursula QATINTIKI 30 y/o, Crisisbless Athletic

(Nephara)
Qatintiki is a ferocious keeper who believes herself to be a good sweeper but unfortunately doesn't have all the necessary skills to be an actual sweeper keeper. Fortunately for her, she's managed to keep 10 clean sheets in the Premier Development League (Ladies' Division) for Sarvusdalamoive Ladies. Unfortunately for her, this performance hasn't carried to her first international call-up in the Sporting World Cup, where she conceded a total of 14 goals in the tournament. But the presence of an experienced back four in front of her could help her concede less in this tournament. Despite being a rapidly rising star in Sarvusdalamoive, Qatintiki opted to cut her contract and sign up for the Pridnestrovian Volunteer Legions in ESTORVIPA. She could actually be charged with treason for fighting for another sovereign nation but the SFA has pulled favors with the Ministry of Justice to delay her trial until the end of the Independents Cup.

GK: Bronwyn CHURCHILL 22 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies

Bronwyn is the daughter of Rosenpfelblatz City's new manager Joseph "Joe" Churchill, one of the most decorated managers in the sport within the Fleftic sphere of influence. Bronwyn came with her dad to Rosenpfelblatz and immediately settled in well with the Lady Sky Blues' academy. She is a traditional keeper who prefers to keep close to goal and catch or slap away shots from that position, although she is learning to become a more athletic keeper now that she's training with the likes of Yannie Redborne, Marfa Kirilenko, and Blaze Chrzanowska. It should be noted that Joe Churchill would have liked it more if his daughter had not wanted to be a goalkeeper, but at least he as a father won't worry about where she's been before, during, and after training because they're always in close proximity to each other.

RB: Queen YARNALL 19 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Women

A quiet and sturdy defender who for her age is already making waves not only in the youth leagues but also in her handful of appearances for the Admiral Porcusces Women senior team. Still needs some work obviously but she could have a very high ceiling indeed.

CB: Christy SHEPLEY 23 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies

At 6 feet 2 inches, Christy is already one of the tallest 17-year-old Fleftic central defenders ever in the Democratic Republic and its sphere of influence. Coupled with a supernatural defensive ability, it's a wonder why she's still on the bench and not starting, until one realizes that Christy is quite the thin and willowy girl. She's a good defender and good in aerial and dead-ball situations, there's no doubt about that, but she has to bulk up and get stronger if she is to become one of Abanhfleft's best defenders. She remains on the bench to make way for Miranda Sullins and Catarina Soler in this Independents Cup squad.

CB: Tiera WALRATH 21 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas

One quarter of the Ogovlich backline that won them the Youth Premier League title this season. Like Wilton Kaba beside her in the under-18 team, Tiera's main purpose is to win balls inside the box and then kick it right out of the danger area. Accuracy needs a bit of work though.

LB: Tien GOODLETT 20 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas

The second quarter of the Ogovlich backline that won the Youth Premier League. Tien is more of an attacking fullback who likes to maraud further up the pitch and assist in the attack. She still gets back in defense more times than not but a particularly quick counterattack could still leave her stranded where she can be of no help to her fellow defenders.

RM: SIBUSIZWE Kiggwancha 20 y/o, Athletic Motonou

SIbusizwe's greatest strength lies in the fact that she can win the ball in midfield more times than not. Of course, most of this is against girls and boys on or nearly the same age as she is, but when she turned out for Athletic Motonou's senior side in the last few matchdays of the Ladies' Third Division season (with the title already wrapped up for Motonou) Sibusizwe looked capable of doing much the same thing against players who were much older and much more experienced than her. Sibusizwe won't have to do that against older and experienced players from other national teams just yet, but she will have to do it against her fellow under-18s from other countries starting from this tournament.

CM: Abigail PAPADIAMANTOPOULOS 29 y/o, All-Inclusive Haranguer

Abigail is the tallest player in this roster at 6 feet 8 inches, taller than even her supposed lookalike Stephanie Bryan. Abigail used to play Sunday league with Anglatia's Ross Port Rangers before Fleftic scouts noticed her during the 38th Di Bradini Cup and she signed a contract with Wallace Partridge's All-Inclusive Haranguer. Partridge chose to sign Abigail due to her size and her playstyle which is very much reminiscent of one of the most famous (if not the best) players to put on the black-and-amber shirt in Sutalen "The Beast of Copper Cuprum" Desoka. Despite helping All-Inclusive Haranguer to a fifth-place finish in the 2022-23 season, she was never called up for Anglatia's national team, and with the country now returning to its policy of total isolation, Abigail was given Fleftic citizenship on the recommendation of Heinrich Wurzmann so the SFA could take advantage of her skills on the pitch.

LM: Charlene WILLIAMSON 23 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Women

Charlene Williamson is the overlooked twin sister of Gareth Williamson. The reasons why she's been overlooked is because her main assets in football are mostly pace, acceleration, physicality, and a good long ball. Charlene can also run with the ball or chase it for 90 minutes and anyone stupid enough to try to take the ball away from her would find themselves on the ground almost immediately. Strangely though, Charlene's physicality tends to vanish during set pieces and Charlene could now count herself lucky if she doesn't end up kissing the grass while trying to get a touch on a corner or a free kick. Perhaps that's why Sporting Ceneisis allowed her to go to their provincial rivals Admiral Porcusces.

CAM: BRITT Hanokssen-Hanks 25 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies

Erin Jensdottir's best friend and girlfriend, Britt has been called "too ambitious for her own good" by the man who would eventually recommend bringing Britt over to Rosenpfelblatz, Matthew Cave. Britt isn't exactly the best, most mobile, most skillful, fastest, or most accurate player available for the Independents Cup, but she makes up for it in her sheer never-say-die attitude. Other things that other players might consider lost causes are just more challenges for Britt to overcome. That being said, if Britt does end up making an appearance for Abanhfleft, it's probably more out of desperation than anything else. But still, no one knows. Maybe this is the tournament where Britt finally shines bright.

FW: Annamarie SABADO 27 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies

Sabado has the makings of being "the next Fleftic super-sub." No less a footballing authority than Arsenal de Releinthi manager Godric Wexler said so after Sabado had scored the game-winning goal against Lutine to give Abanhfleft a ticket to the Sporting World Cup final. And, judging from her inclusion into the Independents Cup, Heinrich Wurzmann and Miriam Whitaker look to do the same with her for the coming tournament.

FW: Irina BABARUSHCHIK 32 y/o, Dynamo Shebchetsik

Babarushchik used to be in (friendly) competition with Annamarie Sabado for the position of Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies U-21s' starting striker, but Sabado ended up being the winner in the long run as Babarushchik couldn't wait for Chelsea Stuart to retire (which is still a long time coming anyway) and the half-Pridnestrovian striker struck out for greener pastures in the form of Mercedini's Dynamo Shebchetsik. Now, as both Irina and Annamarie return to the Fleftic national team setup for the Independents Cup, they are once again back to competing with each other for the honor of being the next Fleftic super-sub.

PALLADINO SACKED, UNDER-18 TEAM DISBANDMENT MOOTED

RIUWIEE - Mere hours after Abanhfleft's embarrassing 5-0 defeat against Schottia in the final group stage match of the 8th Under-18 World Cup in the Free Republics, the Samahang Futbol ng Abanhfleft announced that Vaughn Palladino's contract with the federation to manage the under-18 national football team has been terminated "with immediate effect".

"The Samahan deeply regrets that its working relationship with Mr. Palladino has had to come an end in this way," the official statement from the SFA said, "but following Mr. Palladino's repeated failures to achieve the results that had been laid out before him with regards to the positive development of the national under-18 team, the Samahan has come to the regretful decision of terminating Mr. Palladino's contract with the Samahan."

Palladino, a former midfielder for Abanhfleft, Duhblakk Rovers, and Sporting Ceneisis, had been named the new under-18 manager after the sacking of Rashid Dammam following the under-18 team's failure to qualify for the knockout stage of the 6th Under-18 World Cup which coincidentally was also held in the Free Republics.

So far, no one has yet been named to the position, and perhaps there will not be a successor to Palladino as the Samahan might possibly disband the national under-18 team. A source within the Samahan, speaking on condition of anonymity with CNN Sports, has said that "there is a real possibility" that Abanhfleft will no longer have an under-18 team moving forward.

However, the source also said that the Samahan were still considering other options "to continue the ongoing improvement of the Fleftic standard of football in order to raise it up to multiversal standards".

CNN Sports has been made aware that other solutions to the problem of Abanhfleft's youth teams underperforming in the aforementioned Under-18 World Cup as well as the Di Bradini Cup (for under-21 national teams) are being mooted, most notably a proposal to split the teams into men's and women's divisions, reflecting the current divide between the senior national teams of the country.

"It's not the most optimum situation for us to be in," CNN Sports senior football analyst MacArthur Jackson said while discussing the developments on The Power Hour. "We don't want our youngsters to be growing up under a climate of constant failure. But splitting up the teams into men's and women's teams is also going to put a bit of a target on our backs. We're already getting flak from other countries out there about us deciding to split up the senior teams, and now we're going to split up the youth teams as well. But on the other hand, I really think that disbanding the teams and throwing everything away is not the way to go about this. I feel like we're stuck in a real conundrum here, now."

Until an official decision has been reached by the Samahan, the country's youth teams will continue to train under the current co-ed system.

A look at the PenguinLand Independents Cup squad

The PenguinLand Times takes a look at the 23 players who have made it into the starting lineup for the upcoming tournament. We will be judging coach Ray Will Bradford's decision as to the effectiveness of his team.

Starters

GK: Bogodin Stankovich-35yrs (captain)-Greater PenguinLandia FC
Captain of the PenguinLand team for some time now Stankovich has always managed to maintain composure in between the sticks. Commanding an experienced back four, other fledging members of the team have always looked to him for guidance. At 35 years, he still manages to make it into starting 11 with grace as his experience truly is the key to the PenguinLand's defence.

LB:Slozmow Jedercik-27yrs-Greater PenguinLandia FC
A capable defender who fits right in with the defense style of football played at the national level. Jedercik has never been one to back down from an attack though, as his through balls have become something of a match winning occurence in the league this season. He works well alongside other members of his club, having good chemistry with Eden Fore out on the opposing wing.

CB: Shidlern Prokazy-25yrs-Greater PenguinLandia FC
Another one of the Greater PenguinLandia FC members in the team, Prokazy has also maintained great form when playing in PenguinLand's defence forming a great partnership alongside Rosamin Hidercky. This partnership has become the foundation for the PenguinLand defence since the Independents cup 5.

CB: Rosamin Hidercky-25yrs-Yuria FC
A very capable defender and excellent player alongside Prokazy. Having slightly less experience in the top tiers of PenguinLand football, he sometimes struggles a bit with the faster and more skillfull players. His most memorable match yet came in the Independents cup 5, when the PenguinLand where beaten 3-2 by Abhanflet in the round of 16. Even though the PenguinLand lost that match, Hidercky performance is still remembered to this day.

RB: Eden Fore-28yrs-Greater PenguinLand FC
A player that adds a bit of creativty and playmaking to the PenguinLand going forward while offering a solid defense position at the back. Fore has always been a good player one whose place in the starting 11 would never be questioned. His insightful passes often open space for more profilic goal scoring players and his link with midfielder Mattinas Gonzalodin has at times given the PenguinLand a crucial goal needed to go through.

CM: Mattinas Gonzalodin-31yrs-Penguin FC
A solid defensive player as well as an accurate passer. Gonzalodin has often been described as the controller in the PenguinLand's midlfield trio, often setting the pace for the game and dictating the tempo.

CM: Mattias Gonzalaherna-27yrs-Greater PenguinLandia FC
The playmaker of the team. Gonzalaherna's creative spark adds more options going forward as well as reliable finsher, who will often be just as willing to score a goal as to set-up one.

CM: Nowac Strezelny-27yrs-Regonia FC
Normally the more classic midlfield player in the trio Strezelny provides a link between the midlfield and the attack, setting up many oppurtinities. Recently, his efforts in the Copa South Pacifica helped PenguinLand avoid a loss with New Cahereria, allowing to gain a cruciall needed point and avoid being out in only the second group game.

LW: Leopold Dinawsci-25yrs-Penguin FC
One of the youngest players in the team, Dinawsci has become a rising star. His skill and talent have led to become a formidable winger in the domestic league, with 22 goals to his name. One of the few attacking players to keep his consistency during the world cup 82 qualifiers and to still be played under the awful management of Robbie Olsen's brother, Marcus Olsen. Dinawsci is a true attacking maestro.

RW: Mattias Fernandes-26yrs-Penguin FC
Unlike Dinawsci, Fernandes has not kept his composure since the world cup 82 Qualifiers. He has since struggled to score in conseceutive matches and has let a bit of the creative spark die. A wonderful player, hoping to regain his composure this tournament.

ST: Martinas Edmunsonowivic-23yrs-Penguin FC
Edmunsonowivic is the star of the PenguinLand team. Their all time top scorer, a clinical finisher in and outside of the box he will hopefully add many goals to the PenguinLand this tournament. With the pre-tournament friendlies are anything to go by, the bond with the wingers is still strong and looks to be utilised.

After getting into the quarterfinals last time in Mercedini, the darkmanian national football team are looking for better results and are hoping for the better. Given the track record with the Qualifying for the World Cup not going well, it has been a focus area for the football team to improve both the Goalie as well as the defense for Darkmania. There have also been several changes. One of them is to give the team a makeover.

One of the changes is letting new players who have been on the bench make their debut. This is true for Tÿrn and Mjøe. Both are forwards and with Mjøe being the captain of the team, this will hopefully (but not guaranteed to be a success) bring good results.

There has also been some minor changes, but these are mostly just for the Darkmanian Football Federation by reducing paperwork.

So there has been some changes for the team while they have mostly been the same as always. If it aint broke, dont fix it. Try to change it so it can work.

The Independents Cup: Seriously this time, what is the point?

Omerican law is unusual: all people, regardless of gender, are guaranteed paid leave when they become parents and this also extends to parents who have just adopted. And therein we begin our Independents Cup story, with Morgan Barzetti and Frédérique Acardi each taking maternity leave, Barzetti in preparation to give birth and Acardi for just adopting along with her partner.

The rumour mill immediately began turning, with allegations that Acardi had deliberately timed the adoption so she would miss the IAC scheduled to take place in Drawkland. This, of course, she denies, saying that the paperwork had been in the pipeline for some time and simply hadn’t been fully processed and approved until this point. According to her, it was merely a coincidence that the timing would take her out of the Incorrigibles’ squad, though after being forced to defend penalties in the final after Anne-Sophie Groothuis was forced to use up her fourth substitution, would anyone blame her for not wanting to make the journey to Drawkland?

Barzetti, however, vocally admitted that she had no problem missing the tournament—to some extent, she actually relished the prospect. Despite putting up one of her best performances to date in Mercedini, it never appeared that she was actually enjoying the tournament there and was heartbreakingly taken out of the final thanks to an unfortunate tackle in extra time. “I don’t think anyone actually takes the Cup seriously at this point,” she said in response to a question posed to her on Twii.tur. “The way it seems to be shaping up in Drawkland, I honestly think it’s time for us to part ways with it.”

The greatest surprise is that there’s a prominent association that agrees with Morgan: the Schottic Football Asociation. After returning from a hiatus, the two-time Independents Cup winners and former world champions opted to join the Rushmori Football Confederation rather than return to the competition they helped birth. My past diatribe on why this tournament is terrible actually elicited a response from former Schottia captain Larry Watt and by god, if we grant him what he says, this tournament looks even worse than it did six years ago.

Fortunes have changed for us tremendously since I last wrote about my disdain for this competition. We arguably broke the infamous Curse of Kilkenny in this competition and made it all the way to the final of the last edition, winning medals at a major tournament for the first time in our history. And my criticism of the lopsided nature of the tournament has certainly not aged very well, either, being more a product of Schottia and Bonesea’s overwhelming dominance of the international football world at the time than an actual flaw of the tournament itself.

Watt stated that “[t]he IAC will only ever be as prestigious as the nations that sign up, and we are probably going to have to wait a few more years before it earns its place.” Well, without his home country and with no true world-class teams outside the Free Republics and (arguably) Juvencus, the IAC has lost much of the prestige it may have had a few years ago and has arguably tumbled backwards in terms of how seriously it is taken outside the competing nations. Without a sense of place, which Watt conceded the IAC would never have in the same way as a regional, the tournament looks even more pointless without its prestige, which entices host nations to take hosting it less seriously, which drives away prestigious teams, which makes the tournament look more pointless, all in a vicious circle that looks to have no end in sight.

It is clear that the Independents Cup is building its traditions, but not the kind it should want to build. It doesn’t appear that the Drawklanders—de facto crowned hosts by virtue of being the holders—actually care about hosting this tournament, nor did the Mercedinians before them. The last two tournaments have been treated as an inescapable burden by their hosts, devoid of meaning and consequently sidelined to and contained within two unfortunate cities. The beauty of Mercedini was hidden away, the majesty of Drawkland will be squandered and the supporters, effectively quarantined in two cities, will justifiably feel more like cattle in a soulless money-making project than part of something beautiful and bigger than themselves.

The tournament here in Drawkland will doubtlessly be the worst in the brief history of the Independents Cup. The format alone is enough to make one cringe—four teams will receive byes into the quarterfinals based on their group stage records and it’s conceivable one of the four best teams may not claim one of those byes—and I will wager my house that at least one team will leave this tournament legitimately pissed that the DISC screwed them over. (Bonus points if it’s Omerica.)

Watt said in his response that it would “be more pertinent to judge where we are in another ten years time.” A fine point to make, but with the trajectory the tournament is taking, it may not have another four years to survive. It’s time for us to take Schottia’s cue and follow them out the door. ◇

Striker Micheal Pew Celbrating

On their International debut, the shatlan soccer team made a impressive start. Shatla made their debut against 61st ranked Lochario. The blue backs managed to win 4-1 in the match at Enchantress Stadium in Kayo,Drawkland. It should be noted however that the ginger tigers fielded their second team due to a scheduling conflict. The blue backs two goals by Micheal Pew in the 24th and 70th minutes. While Harry Mallow and Victor Bandow rounded out the scorers with goals at the 50th and 83rd Minutes respectivley. The Ginger Tigers only goal came from Striker Iouta in the 47th Minute. Shatlan coach Conan Rifkin said the following of his team's preformance. The blue backs substitutions were George Watts, Ade Keys and Issac Daniels. "I'm really proud of the team, a win is always the best way to debut.They all plays good here, so I don't see any adjustments to be made yet."
