Somewhere in Eastern Mindanao, Samporna
Through the forest on a muddy dirt road on a rainy day, several military trucks rolled through with as little noise as possible. They were using a route not so often used by people, as it was not one many people outside of military and government positions should have known of. These trucks were running supplies from Tagloc to Butuan, in preparations for possible eruption of conflict. These trails were not really as well-maintained as the usual road, which was being used by civilians as well as other army trucks; so it was not too much of a surprise when one of the trucks up front got their wheels caught in a muddy hole in the ground, strangely large enough for a big tire.

As several men attempted to dig out the truck's front wheel, the escorting soldiers were bored to death with waiting. "How unlucky do we have to be? This is going to take forever! Why are we even here? There's no action here!"

"Quit complaining, unless you want to speed things up by helping them dig out the wheel in the rain?" somebody replied.

"Still, there's no chance we'll get attacked here deep in Sampornese territory! The LLF's in Butuan, so really; we have no reason to be here right now."

"Do you want labor vouchers or not? We don't get paid for no- Wait, did you hear that?"

All one would hear was the sound of rain, drizzling through the rainforest and unto mud on the trail. However, when would listen closely; there was rustling in the bushes, and some very silent noises of something heavy dropping. Something like a body. Quickly, the soldiers opened the doors behind the APC; dropping onto the ground with knees bent and rifles ready, and finding the driver of the front truck and those digging out the hole, with bloody holes in their heads.

"What the- I didn't hear anything-

Silenced and muffled through the rain, a shot rang through the soldier's head before he fell to the ground. Several more men dropped, blood coming out the other sides of their heads.

"Silenced snipers! Take cover!"

Somewhere in Eastern Mindanao
Dania sat before a table, with a board laid out in front of her. On it, was a map of Samporna; with all supply routes, military camps and bases marked. With a devious smile, she moved certain board pieces to certain locations.

"Your move, Samporna."

Rhunnich
2000 Hours

It was a rainy evening in Rhunnich. Citizens of the city huddled under whatever shelter they could find as a downpour of water opened up from the heavens. National Security Bureau Director Hugo Tusk, on the other hand, was nice and dry in his government limo. His driver navigated Tusk's car down Imperial Avenue, making his way to the Chancellory. Tusk looked out the window to his left, clutching his breifcase as the car went over a bump, at Baum Park. A medium-sized area with both woodlands and grasslands, Baum Park was a major landmark in Rhunnich. Not only was it a nice, quiet getaway from the bustling capital, it was also in the middle of many government buildings. The Royal Palace stood on one end, while the Reichstag and the Chancellory Building stood on the opposite side of the park.

Tusk's limo approached a gate separating Baum Park and the city from the Chancellory grounds. The guard there noticed the government license plate and let the car through. The Chancellory was a neoclassical building, dating from around the time of the Rhunnlandian Revolution. It was used by the Prime Minister of Rhunnich (the predecessor state to Rhunnland which got its name from the city) and was located near the Palace so the PM could communicate easily with the King in an age before telecommunications. The limo got to another checkpoint, with tighter security. The officer there stopped the car and checked the IDs of Tusk and the driver. Once the guard confirmed their identities and reason for being at the Chancellory, they were let through. The limo stopped at a side door, and Tusk opened an umbrella and got out

He showed his ID to another guard and entered the Chancellory. His ears were immediately bombarded by noise. Secretaries and assistants were running about the hall, and an aide approached Tusk, asking to take his umbrella and coat. Tusk obliged, and walked deeper into arguably the most important building in the country. As director of the NSB, he knew his way around the Chancellory, and also knew all about its security. National Security Division 1, the branch of the NSB responsible for the protection of high-profile government officials, was not as well-funded as agencies such as the American Secret Service, but still did its job well and kept the Chancellor and other officials safe. In addition to the guards, the Chancellory had radio-resistant walls (to prevent internal communication from being detected), bulletproof windows, a secure computer network, and many other measures.

Tusk approached the Chancellor's office, and stopped at the Chancellor's secretary's desk. "I have an appointment with the Chancellor," the Director started.

"Your name?" asked the secretary.

"NSB Director Hugo Tusk,"

The secretary looked at his computer. After a moment, he said, "Ah, there you are." He pressed a button on his desk phone. "Mr. Chancellor, Director Tusk is here to see you."

"Bring him right in," Chancellor Rabenhaus responded over the intercom. The secretary nodded at the office door, and Tusk went right in.

"Director! How are you?" Rabnhaus asked with a smile, giving the Director a pat on the shoulder.

"I'm alright, Mr. Chancellor, I'm alright. I assume you know why I am here?" Tusk responded.

"Indeed I do." Rabenhaus motioned at a couch in his office, "Sit, sit,"

The two of them sat down as Tusk put his briefcase on his lap. He inputted a code and opened it. Ruffling through a bunch of documents for a second, the NSB Director found what he was looking for. He pulled out a manila folder with the Rhunnlandian Great Seal on the front, above the words "Nationalen Sicherheitsbüro." Tusk opened the folder and gave the first document to Rabenhaus. "Lumad Liberation Front," Rabenhaus mumbled to himself.

"Yes, indeed," Tusk said, apparently hearing Rabenhaus's murmur. "They're Lumad separatists from the Philipine island of Mindanao, seeking independence from Samporna. They only seem to be active on Mindanao."

"What sort of things do they do? Suicide bombings? Guerrilla warfare?"

"Mostly guerrilla stuff," Tusk replied, handing him a Sampornese news article.

LLF Ambush in Streets of Butuan
by Mariam binti Che
May 18, 2019

At 6:13, May 17; a small platoon of Sampornese National Army soldiers was ambushed in the streets of Butuan by members of the Lumad Liberation Front (LLF). The platoon was enroute to capture Jati bin Mat, a chemist suspected to have been working with the Sampornese Royal Army and illegally creating bombs for them. Officers now suspect that the fugitive Jati bin Mat is in league with Lumad insurgents, rather than royalist insurgents.

Fighting started when a bomb went off and crashed one of the APC vehicles, after which two trucks kamikaze crashed into the platoon from behind; blocking off the road, and any means of escape. LLF soldiers began to open fire upon SNA soldiers from the rooftops, and the fighting continued. 11 of the LLF soldiers were killed, and 3 were captured. Out of the 39 men in the platoon, 13 were unharmed, 15 were injured, and 11 were killed. 18 SNA weapons were reported to have been stolen by the LLF in the fighting, before reinforcements arrived.

The Lumad Liberation Force (LLF) is an insurgent group of Lumad separatists, who hope to gain independence for non-Muslim Mindanao from Muslim Samporna. With the fall of the SRA and the previous Sampornese regime, the LLF has gained more prominence with lesser rivals.

"Here you can read an account of some of the stuff they do. From news articles like this and our own intelligence, we confidently conclude that they're a guerrilla group. We also think, especially based on stories like this, that they have both a strong urban and non-urban presence."

"Non-urban?" Rabenhaus asked, trying to clarify.

"Mostly jungles, we think."

"You think?"

"We don't have agents in the area, so we're mostly going off of watching local public sources, like the press and social media, in addition to satellite photos."

"Such as?"

"The other day we detected, via satellite, what we think to be a skirmish in a Sampornese jungle in an area we believe the LLF is active in. We caught a glimpse of what looks like a few military vehicles, but we don't know for sure the nationality or type. They're most likely Sampornese or Pan-Asiatic, as those are the only nations that are likely to be in direct conflict with the LLF. The PAS sent a few units over there a couple of weeks ago. We did actually find artillery craters a couple of clicks away from them, making us think they might be mobile artillery units, but we don't know for sure."

"We don't seem to know a lot of things about the situation, do we."

"That is very true, and also something I wanted to ask you about."

"Before you do, let me interject," Rabenhaus interrupted. "Is the LLF a threat to us at all?"

"No. Unless there's a secret population of Lumads in Rhunnland the Census Agency doesn't know about," Tusk jokingly said, "we have no reason to be targeted by them."

"Good. What was your question?"

"Right. I want to get more assets in Samporna, one way or another."

"How do you reccomend doing that, Director?"

"Well, that's the issue. While I'm no diplomat, I assume we don't want to anger anyone involved in this situation,"

"That is correct,"

"But I think we need more information about everything that's going on,"

"As do I,"

"And that's hard to do without sending a spy or hacking them or something else or that sort." Tusk looked at Rabenhaus, and saw the gears turning in the Chancellor's head. Tusk knew Rabenhaus would make a good leader when his party one the General Election, politics aside.

"I have an idea," the Chancellor blurted.

"Hmm?"

"What if... we sent a humanitarian team, with medical supplies and food and what not, to help Sampornese citizens harmed by the coup and the LLF. They'd have a platoon of infantry escorting them, keeping them safe, et cetera, and that unit could keep an eye on the current situation. It's not all-out war yet, right?"

"No, not at all. I think your idea is good, actually."

"Okay. I'll meet with my advisors to discuss it, but I think we'll go ahead with it, unless there's something I'm overlooking here."

"Nothing comes to mind, sir."

"Thanks for the vote of confidence. Anyway, stay tuned. I send you an email sometime in the next day or so once we reach a decision." Tusk nodded, and left the room.

Rabenhaus got up and went to his desk. He picked up the phone and called Alfred von Halbrack, his close friend and Minister of Foreign affairs.

"Alf, I've got an idea for Samporna."

NBPC, Kutawatu, Western Mindanao, Samporna
With a sigh, Faatrik wipes his glasses before putting it on. He adjusts the collar of his green suit, making sure he looks nice and formal before entry. It had been a busy week for work. He opened the two great wooden doors of what was once the hall of the Majlis Warisan, and now enlarged to accommodate much greater numbers than nine. Immediately was the silence prior destroyed, with the greeting of hundreds, or more rather thousands, of voices arguing in unison. The Non-Basic Popular Conference, made up of representatives from the hundreds of BPCs from all across Samporna; now debating the current situation

As Chairman of the Revolutionary Council during the transition to the Jamahiriya, Faatrik bin Samporna still had authority over the Popular Conference until the transition had been complete. He took his seat at one end of the hall, alongside the other members of the Revolutionary Council.

"These Lumads are a threat to our nation, so I say we wipe the floor with them immediately!" argues Turki bin Faiq, a half-Turkish BPC representative hailing from Borneo. "Right now they are weak, so we must strike before they get stronger!"

"Genocide is not the answer here!" Tamanna binti Turki argues, "They may be a threat, but they still have the right to life!"

"They are a threat to national and religious solidarity sister Tamanna," counters the elderly Ismaeel bin Sad. "In the Green Book, Gaddafi tells us that a multinational state is bound to fail; and that a nation must have only one religion, or it will fail. The Lumads are indeed a different nation from our united Moro nation, and they are indeed Dhimmi. They are twice a threat to our nationstate!"

"Samporna was founded upon a union between the Moros and the Lumads," contributes the young Fajar bin Muda. "If these Lumads are either eliminated from our nation or leave, then our national identity is broken!"

"Everyone, everyone! Calm down," Faatrik intervenes, "You all make good points, however I do not believe this will be much of a threat if we do not let it be."

"By compromising with the Dhimmi insurgents?!" exclaimed Ahad bin Daniel, "I think not! You would dare hurt our nation's pride when we clearly have the upper hand-

"These insurgents are more well-funded, well-coordinated, well-trained, and well-organized than they have been before the Green Revolution." intervenes General Senin bin Sagari, a member of the Revolutionary Council. "We cannot simply approach these insurgents without first rooting out the cause for these."

"Ever the more reason to uproot these Lumads before Mindanao erupts into a warzone!" shouts Leman bin Anuar. "I say we invite those Rhunnlandians to help us napalm the hell out of the roaches-

"I do not believe it will ever come to that." Hasana binti Yoonus puts forward as a member of the Revolutionary Council. "Even with superior funding or organization than before, the LLF has no chance in a warzone. Whoever is currently organizing them should be aware of that."

"What they're trying to do is two things," Faatrik continues. "One, they are trying to prolong a guerrilla war to leech out our resources and lower our morale. Two, they're trying to invite foreign supporters."

"So what do you propose we do?" Zamrud binti Ahad asks as she leans towards the mike.

"Simple really," says Faatrik. "We just need to surround them completely, and put Eastern Mindanao on lockdown to ensure that no foreign support reaches them. I'm sure the recent disappearance of Biru bin Rajah has something to do with finding foreign support. Then, we'll commence Operation Bagobin."

"Operation Bagobin?" asks Maya binti Hitam. "What is Operation Bagobin?"

"It's a secret plan the NAF-SJ has developed." Faatrik replied. "However, due to certain circumstances; I cannot share this plan with the Popular Conference, because I am quite sure that the enemy will know."

A woman raised her hand from across the hall, "Excuse me, but do you believe that whoever is currently organizing the LLF is in the NBPC?"

"No, but this is a direct democracy." Faatrik continued, "Whoever is organizing the LLF can participate in the BPCs, and can contribute ideas."

From his seat, a Lumad BPC representative stood in protest. "Are you suggesting that we are conspiring with the LLF?!"

"No, for all we know the organizer could be a Moro." Faatrik continued. "And considering their targets, I think whoever it is had a position in the previous regime prior to the Green Revolution; which would also explain the funding."

"So is the Revolutionary Council going to initiate a purge?"

"No," Dewi binti Wira of the Revolutionary Council replies. "Not at all. Operation Bagobin will take care of everything, to the point that the only option the LLF will have left is compromise."

"All we ask now is that the Popular Conference relinquish all military command of national and foreign forces to the Revolutionary Council," Faatrik continues. "It'll be necessary to fight this threat right under our noses."

A Lumad woman, Esah binti Daniel, raises her hand in the corner. "Aren't you worried that whoever is organizing the insurgents can read your moves through the Popular Conference?"

"Not at all, which is why Operation Bagobin will be coordinated solely by the Revolutionary Council." Faatrik replied. "After all, we can read your moves too, whoever you are."

FROM : The Popular Conference of Samporna

Acknowledging the right of the Pan-Asiatic States to it command its own military forces.

Realizing however the need for further cooperation and coordination.

Reaffirming that Mindanao is the sovereign territory of the Sampornese Jamahiriya, and that military forces from the Pan-Asiatic States so long as they are on Sampornese soil, are nevertheless foreign military forces.

The Popular Conference of Samporna hereby demands the transfership of command authority over the PAS Interventionary Forces in Samporna to our own Commander-in-Chief, Faatrik bin Samporna. We request that the commander of the interventionary forces, Daimyo-Heneral Kwang-Hyun, direct themselves to Fort Yuhanna in Kutawatu.

Command Center, Fort Yuhanna
The old 20th century fortress, named after the Sampornese Hero of Borneo as well as the "fascist" leader of Samporna during WW2; Fort Yuhanna was built in its era's fashion, away from the city and buildings spread apart to defend against aerial raids. The large-scale fortification was well out of its time, as forts had been long outdated; however, the historical landmark still made a nice command center for the NAF-SJ.

Faatrik bin Samporna and Senin bin Sagari waited within the Tactical Operations Center; which was housed in one of the bunkers in the fort.

Elsewhere in Eastern Mindanao
Dania sat in her chair in front of the table, looking at a document brought to her by someone. She smiled, and gave orders to her commanders.

Singapore
Biru bin Rajah looked around the city, looking for embassies of countries that might be willing to accept his political asylum; as well as countries who may offer support to overthrow the Jamahiriya and restore the previous regime.

Meeting of the State Council
New Imperial Palace
Nevi Seleste
19:59 / 5.22.72

Twenty-two men sat around a long pine table set in the center of a ornate marble room. They formed a motley collection, dressed in everything from the uniform of a Marshal of Victores, to western business clothes, to the long robes of an Amerthuva Priest. Most of them were quietly staring at the table or twirling a pen in their hand. While Victores was not a Muslim country, the Amerthuva faith also fasted from sunset to sundown during the fifth lunar month. The fast could be broken in just a few moments, and more of the Council was not particularly willing to begin discussion of anything until they could eat. The man sitting at the head of the table, Sierkey Zarkove, leaned back into his chair and stared at his watch. The second hand seemed to turn at a painfully slow pace, suddenly all the watches in the room started ringing in unison - the fast was finally over. An attendant quickly entered the room with a plate of food to break the fast with and placed it on the table. The group quickly ate, performing the sacred rite of Atazhyu, making them connected on a spiritual level according to the Amerthuvan way. Of course, this meant nothing in the modern era, but was once viewed with immense importance. That was the reason that it was a thousand year tradition for government ministers to break fast together - if just to give the Emperor an extra justification to burn them alive if they betrayed him later on. Once the group completed their short meal, the meeting commenced with vigor, the first issue on the table - Samporana.

The Victoresian with that land was ancient, when the Victoresian Empire stretched across all of Aridia, they often raided the archipelago for slaves, and sometimes even settled there for periods of time. Of course that Empire had crumbled over the centuries, and the only remnants of the Victoresian Empire in those islands were a few stone carvings half covered jungle plants and a handful of buried weapons. Nevertheless, the region of great importance to modern Victores; the Philippines were rich in oil, a resources in great demand in Victores. It also serves as a gateway to Asia and exerts control over the South China Sea, both significant objectives of Victoresian foreign policy. Beyond its geography, there was also great interest in its people and politics. Decades ago, Colonel Gaddafi had been one of the few world leaders that supported the regime of the Great Leader Zykeriacho while it was under weapons embargo by almost the entire world. Libyan oil and arms allowed the Victoresian war machine to achieve victory in the Great War of Resistance, and thereby many in Victores, especially the generations that fought in the bloody struggle, felt indebted to the Jamahiriya. The rise of a new style of socialism in the region also posed a threat however, the Victoresian brand of socialism was deeply tied with the native religion, which is often in conflict with the Abrahamic religions of the West. And again, there was “the Plan”.

“Well comrades, the first topic of discussion today is Samporana” said Zarkove, “the situation has complicated since we last discussed this. It appears that a mysterious submarine has been spotted in the area engaging several targets. Additionally an organization called the ‘Lumad Liberation Front’ has intensified resistance against the new regime in addition to the extant Royalists”

“There is the additional issue of Zhouranese involvement in this conflict” chimed the Foreign Minister, “they seem to be expanding their influence into South East Asia, they may some day move even further South, and possibly against Aridia itself”

“And the issue of religion, the Lumads are Hindu-Buddhist followers of their native faith. It would certainly alienate most of the Amerthuva to support a Abrahamic group against a native religious group, I for one would not like to give up my position for the sake of a religion that considers me an infidel and something to be destroyed” said the Minister of Culture.

“Well, keep in mind that several communist countries have chosen to recognize and support the Jamahiriya, though most of them are of the Pol Potist variety, insane revisionists and probably mass murderers. Of course, if we go against them, it would still be seen as going against the leftist current” responded the foreign minister.

As the foreign minister finished speaking, the room fell silent for a moment, filled only by the drone of the heating system for the centuries old palace. The silence hung for a few moments before Zarkove leaned forwards and began to speak, “We currently presented with two options: declare neutrality and covertly support the LLF for religious reasons as a form of anti-Imperialist praxis and constrain Zhouranese expansionism, with the added bonus of helping our election chance, or we could declare support for the Jamahiriya, which would increase our access to oil, as well as potentially finding a new ideological ally in the region. However, I believe we have a third option: We could publicly choose to support the Jamahiriya and push for a peace agreement between the LLF and the Jamahiriya to both target the Royalist remnants. By vouching for the LLF, they will become loyal allies, and by providing strong military support for the Jamahiriya they will become our allies as well. With both of these groups in our pockets, we could easily remove both the Ultras(Victoresian term for Pol Potists/Maoists) and Zhouranists”

“This plan is good and all, but how could be implemented at the moment, and more importantly - what if we’re found out?” said the Minister of State Security.

“We could perhaps isolate all support for the LLF to a single directorate of the JAV(Ministry of State Security), that way if we are found out, we could simply blame it on something like extreme inter-service competition for control over Victoresian operations in the archipelago” responded Zarkove.

“On the first question, we should immediately send a communique to the Jamahiriya, while sending a covert message to the LLF announcing our support for them. In the mean time we should announce an objective of a peace deal to form a united front against the Royalists. From a military perspective we should embed spies in both regimes as well as begin high-altitude reconnaissance flights. It is my understanding that our military bases in Ulyo are close enough to not require aircraft carriers” said the Minister of Defense.

The room fell silent once more as the Council considered the plan. Once again, discussion was initiated by Zarkove, “I think its time to move onto the next topic - does anyone oppose this motion”. No one raised their hand. “Well, I expect Comrade Foreign Minister can draft the Communiques, they should be sent out by tonight. I take it these orders can be handed to the Air Force and JAV”

I'll add the communiques later, I have an international flight tomorrow and don't want to sit on this post any longer

After several days of waiting, Combat Naval Group Pitiless Viper 9183 was finally given the green light to mobilize. Under the leadership of veteran officer Fleet Admiral Aidanrong "Sea Tiger" Nalan, the CNG consisted of various state-of-the-art warships from the 3rd Fleet of the ZPA Navy. The group's task was simple: Provide any form of military assistance to the Jamahiriya if needed. Since the Lumad Liberation Front is currently designated as a low-level threat, the CNG is given orders to remain on standby.

The Type 2010 Leiming-class nuclear-powered supercarrier "Triumphant Harbinger of Resplendent Retribution" along with the rest of the group were approx. 595 km north of Palau, since they were on standby the group basically stopped in the Philippine Sea. Within the admiral's bridge of "Triumphant Harbinger of Resplendent Retribution", Fleet Admiral Aidanrong "Sea Tiger" Nalan along with other naval officers stood around a high-resolution digital map of Samporna. After being briefed on the current situation in the Southeast Asian state, Aidanrong told his subordinates to order all ships to remain on high readiness in case the group receives the signal to provide military assistance.

Having serve in the Navy for 35 years now, the experienced admiral had served in various military operations throughout his service including anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden in the mid 1990s and naval blockade operations off the coast of a totalitarian Southeast Asian dictatorship in the early 2000s. After studying at the 4th Naval Academy in surface warfare and marine engineering as an officer cadet, Aidanrong served onboard the Type 1981 Fanrong-class guided-missile destroyer "Blood & Honor" as an anti-ship warfare specialist from the early to late 1990s, later on as a commander's special assistant onboard the Type 1987 Geming-class guided-missile destroyer "Victory on December 4th" from the late 1990s to mid 2000s, and afterwards as commander of the Type 1998 Keshenrong-class guided-missile destroyer "Spirit of Admiral Chensunluo" from the mid 2000s to mid 2010s. Aidanrong's job onboard Victory on December 4th was, among other things, handling messages between senior officers and writing reports about the state of a naval operation. In 2013, Aidanrong was deployed to the Eastern Mediterranean to assist with Zhouranese military operations in the region. The current state of many parts of world embroiled in civil wars and terrorism, along with the rise of a possible new cold war internationally, marked a turning point in Aidanrong's political world-view from largely politically-moderate to strongly hardline and interventionist, which was further reinforced by Kang Yingyong's highly-assertive 2018 Foreign Policy Outline. Because of the location of the Zhouranese archipelago and Overseas Zhouran in the Pacific Ocean, Aidanrong sees any situation in the Asia-Pacific region as "Zhouran's Business" and as a result the situation in Samporna is of concern to Zhouranese national overseas interests.

However, since late 1981, the tiny island state houses a large permanent Zhouranese military presence in exchange for Zhouranese foreign aid and is rich in minerals. Within the northeastern corner of the island is a Zhouranese military administered area known as the Taua Military Restriction Zone, which is home to three large military bases consisting of Naval Station Weiwei (Navy), Air Base Taitou (Air Force) and Camp Liluo (Ground Force), all located right next to each other. Even though Overseas Zhouran consists of hundreds of islands across the northeast and northwest of the Pacific, the nation of Fafo is seen by the Zhouranese as a strategic overseas location of military importance. At Naval Station Weiwei, the facility kept in touch with Combat Naval Group Pitiless Viper 9183 and has warships and submarines on standby as possible reinforcement, meanwhile at Air Base Taitou, a ZPAAF highly-modified licensed-produced Airbus A330-300 converted AWACS aircraft (fitted with the highly-advanced Type 03 Airborne Early Warning and Aviation Control Support System) took off in order to provide constant monitoring and provide intel to the CNG. Shortly after taking off, the aircraft began refueling midair from a ZPAAF Type 06 aerial tanker before continuing on with its duty. Four ZPAN Type 115-900 gen. 4++ carrier-borne fighter jets from the Type 2010 Leiming-class nuclear-powered supercarrier "Long Night of Rapturous Compunction" accompanied the AWACS aircraft.

Somewhere in Eastern Mindanao
Hair dyed brown and cut short, no hijab with Malay features and a pair of glasses. She wore a skirt slightly above the knees, with a tailored women's polo. She sipped on a cup of tea as she sat on a chair, looking at a tablet on the table. The tablet showed video footage and news coverage, of the massive Zhouranese Military forces right near Samporna. The PASAF alone would have already been a problem for her insurgents, so she made sure they did their best to completely avoid what would seem like foreign military forces. But the Zhouranese, she had deathly feared. Knowing their military prowess, it would have been quite the problem for her insurgency if they got involved.

Perhaps she would cut the line on the LLF, find another insurgent group to support; but it was unlikely. The SRA was scattered, and the LLF was the next biggest one. Neither Biru bin Rajah's people nor hers had enough people to start a rebellion on their own, though they did have the funds and knowledge.

Even before the "Green Revolution", she had been at odds with both the her ex-husband Faatrik bin Samporna and the Gaddafists that now ran the country. The Gaddafists were a massive political opponent as the Sampornese Green Party, and had always been a danger to the national influence of her liberal party. Her intention now was to support a big enough insurgent group to attract foreign interventionists that would destroy Faatrik's regime and the Gaddafists, allowing the return of party politics and the abolition of the tyranny of the majority possibly with her party at the lead. Biru bin Rajah and the Sampornese National Party had allied with the Sampornese Liberal Party for this purpose after all.

To the Revolutionary Council of Samporna

As part of joint cooperation with Sampornese military forces, we are happy to send a representative and military observers to Kutawatu in order to increase coordination and avoid any misunderstandings. Not only that, we are also happy to provide real-time intelligence reports to Sampornese military forces in order to provide a better picture of the current situation. The combat naval group that has been mobilized will remain on standby and will only provide assistance if your nation requests for one.

Regards, Senior Marshal Su Rongyu, Chairman of the People's Defense Council

Following communication between the higher-ups of both Samporna and Zhouran, a representative and a small team of military observers were to be deployed to Kutawatu in order to open up and coordinate military cooperations. At Air Base Taitou in Fafo, a ZPAAF licensed-produced Airbus A340-500 waited by the tarmac. Major Weisunren Jinfeirong, a battle-experienced officer from the Ground Force and a veteran of various Zhouranese military ops in Africa and the Middle East, was the designated representative while a group of nine junior officers from the Ground Force, Navy and Air Force make up the military observer group. After the representative and military observers boarded the plane, the A340-500 taxis to the runway and takes off, heading towards Samporna.

Command Center, Fort Yuhanna, Kutawatu
Commander-in-Chief Faatrik bin Samporna stood with General Senin bin Sagari and other military officials before the foreign commanders and their representatives to explain the strategy.

"The strategy here is simple; we make the LLF's only option to consider compromise." Faatrik explained.

"We believe that the LLF is likely connected to a bigger threat, one that could simply find another insurgent group or worse, a foreign country; to do play into its hand the moment the LLF fails." Faatrik continued. "We need to contain this threat, not just the LLF. So, what I ask is not to destroy the LLF; but rather to force them into a position such that compromise is the only pragmatic option, so that we may be able to convince their leaders to provide us leads to the man behind the curtains."

Senin bin Sagari pointed at a map of Samporna, which had drawn a line between Eastern Mindanao and the rest of Samporna. "The LLF is fighting for independence within certain territorial bounds in Eastern Mindanao, consisting of the provinces of Butuan, Bukidnon, and Tagloc. While they do indeed have better resources than they had prior to the Green Revolution, they still cannot fight a full on war with us; and are probably hoping to bleed us out until foreign aid comes. Thus, I propose forming blockades around Eastern Mindanao's coast, which will prevent any sort of vessel from going in or out; leaving foreign support with only two options, land and air. With enough frequent patrols and tighter air regulations, we could completely lock in Eastern Mindanao and prevent foreign support from reaching in."

"In a recent event, we believe the former leader of the Sampornese National Party and the once head of state of the former Sampornese Republik, Biru bin Rajah, had escaped Samporna with help from other former government figures. This has lead us to believe that the forces working against Samporna and puppeteering the insurgents are officials of the previous regime, hoping to re-establish the former oligarchy." Faatrik continued after General Senin. "We are not sure how much influence they hold over our forces, however, with your reinforcement; we can null this problem by mixing local patrols with foreign patrols, preventing what could have been bypassing patrols because of a traitor in charge of the patrol."

"Once we are sure that nothing can get in, we can begin to starve them out instead of the other way around." Senin continued. "We've noticed that their forces like to avoid foreign forces. This is something we could use to our advantage. Most of their attacks are on supply routes and such, so instead of the normal Sampornese escort; we'd like to have foreign escorts instead. Our own forces could be put to better use on defense against possible direct attacks in places like farms, hospitals, prisons, the cities and such."

Biru bin Rajah looked around the city, looking for embassies of countries that might be willing to accept his political asylum; as well as countries who may offer support to overthrow the Jamahiriya and restore the previous regime.

The Prussian-Polish embassy was a nondescript building in downtown Sinapore-almost completely identical to it's neighbors, save in two respects.
First; the red-and-white Prussian-Polish flag that fluttered in the wind. Second; the well-armed naval infantry squad that stood guard, as still as statues, until they were relieved by a different but almost-identical one.

As Biru's car approached the gate, the guards unslung their G3 Battle Rifles and flipped off the safeties, although they refrained from putting their fingers on the trigger.
One guard passed through the gate, while the other 9 covered their comrade.
He knocked on the window. As soon as it rolled down, he cleared his throat.

Daimyo-Heneral Kwang-Hyun listened eagerly to the Sampornese commander's strategy. To him, it seemed extremely simple: it was search and destroy. This kind of jungle warfare was not something he had engaged himself into since the end of the Pacific Wars, however, whether it were Imperialists or radical Lumads hiding in the foxholes, he knew his way around a war of attrition.

It had been a few days now since the Federal Congress approved a cession of the intervention forces to the Sampornese revolutionaries. The Daimyo was not happy about it, but what else could he do? His command was now at the behest of the local leaders. All he could do, was offer advice.

"Comrade Faatrik, we have brought with us the most technologically-capable modern artillery pieces available in the arms trade today. We have rocket-artillery equipped with heatseekers and thermal sensors. We have 15,000 dedicated artillerymen and a more than capable partisan army. I suggest we force them into a battlefield of our choosing, cut-off and sabotage their supply-lines with forest guerillamen, then rain fury upon the reactionary threat.

Forgive my bluntness, but I believe we should burn the forests they utilize for cover entirely. It is not without cost, but it will send a message. It may force the LLF to surrender sooner than we anticipate."

Faatrik waved his hand in a way as to gesture no. "Burning down these forests could have more unwanted repercussions than benefits. These forests are centuries old, even predating Samporna. Burning them down will not only damage the economy, but create massive unpopularity. We do not need to send a message of terror, we are not terrorists; we must employ means that do not tarnish our image, as Samporna is still a popular democracy, and unpopularity will have immediate effects."

"Besides, the LLF does not have resources to fight a prolonged conflict." General Senin contributed. "If our suspicions are correct, they're expecting foreign support; otherwise they won't be able to keep fighting. If they see that there is no possibility of such a thing, they will eventually waver."

"I see.", replied the Daimyo-Heneral. He expected his radical view to be met with resistance, but it has worked in the past. It would seem he had determined that even the Sampornese have ethical boundaries.

"Very well, then. Still, I put-forward my aforementioned idea that we should, ourselves, pick the battles, cut the neck of the Lumad beast through daring Pan-Asiatic saboteurs, and perhaps, only minimally and in a controlled manner, utilize artillery. You bureaucrats are in charge now.", followed the Daimyo-Heneral, in a passive-aggressive tone.

Shortly after touching down at the runway of Kutawatu Airport, the ZPAAF licensed-produced Airbus A340-500 carrying the representative and small team of military observers arrived from Air Base Taitou in Fafo. Prior to arrival, Major Weisunren Jinfeirong and the military observers were given reports on the latest situation in Samporna regarding the Lumad Liberation Front. Once the plane was by the tarmac, Weisunren and the nine military observers disembarked from the plane followed by six airborne-cavalry troops from the Airborne Operations Command of ZPAGF. Like the soldiers escorting them, Weisunren and the officers were also heavily-armored albeit without any headgear. Four unarmed Type 87 multi-purpose utility vehicles that were air-transported by ZPAAF to Kutawatu from AB Taitou were lined up, the representative and military observers entered the vehicles and off they went to Fort Yuhanna in order to increase joint coordination in dealing with the LLF.

In order to prevent any foreign groups from supporting the Lumad Liberation Front, us Zhouranese advise that an air-policing zone is established to prevent any unidentified aircraft from dropping off supplies to the LLF. Combat Naval Group Pitiless Viper 9183 has highly-advanced fighter jets ready to conduct joint air-patrols together with the Sampornese Air Force while ZPAAF has already deployed a sophisticated AWACS aircraft from Air Base Taitou, equipped with a high-powered very-long-range early-warning radar in order to keep an eye on the sky. The ZPA Navy will deploy a pair of fighter jets above suspected LLF areas in Eastern Samporna in order to provide high-detail intelligence and surveillance to the Sampornese military.

Onboard the Type 2010 Leiming-class nuclear-powered supercarrier "Triumphant Harbinger of Resplendent Retribution", two ZPAN Type 115-900 gen. 4++ carrier-borne fighter jets took off in order to conduct aerial recon above Eastern Samporna for any potential LLF hotspots. One of the fighter jet was armed with four Type 88-1 SRAAMs and eight Type 95 BVRAAMs, meanwhile the second jet was carrying only two Type 88-1 SRAAMs and one highly-advanced Type 2000 Tactical Aviation Reconnaissance Pod. Flying under the moonlight, the two jets slightly descended as they reach the designated recon flight path. The jet with the TARP switched to recon mode, activating the pod's sophisticated high-resolution synthetic-aperture radar imaging and taking highly-detailed images of the jungles and hills several kilometers below. As a result, the Zhouranese will be looking at three-dimensional reconstructions of the landscape before presenting the data to the Sampornese military as part of joint coordination. After a couple hours of recon, the two fighter jets return to the carrier with the recorded data being looked upon by the Zhouranese prior to sending the data to the Sampornese, a process that should not take too long.

Your counsel has been heeded, and as luck had it; an air-policing zone was already in conception within our plans. Our General of the Air Force, Mrs. Suriani binti Muda, will be looking forward to working with you.

With shaking of hands and some bribery, a small cargo ship was cleared for leaving the port of Davao. It was quite suspicious that the ship carried some sophisticated transmission and encryption equipment, but that was of no matter.

"The navy will likely soon begin to perform blockades around Mindanao." Dania noted. "We'll have to leave Mindanao and command our operations from outside Samporna."

"Indeed." a Lumad agreed with her, as he stayed behind at port. "I wish you well Ms. Nagi."

While on the way to Fort Yuhanna in Kutawatu, the capital of Samporna, Major Weisunren Jinfeirong was busy looking through the latest reports from his 9.8-inch smart-tablet. The high-resolution synthetic-aperture radar images of Eastern Samporna was sent to his tablet from the carrier "Triumphant Harbinger of Resplendent Retribution", along with intel on naval movements in Samporna's eastern coastline delivered from Combat Naval Group Pitiless Viper 9183.

The four unarmed Type 87 multi-purpose utility vehicles carrying Weisunren and the nine military observers finally arrived at the front of Fort Yuhanna. For the group, the task was simple: assist the Sampornese military high-command and act as chief military advisers. Weisunren and the military observers themselves have numerous years of service on the field, Weisunren himself served multiple tours of duty abroad in Africa and the Middle East, fighting in various terrains ranging from desert to urban to jungle. As a result, the Zhouranese military officers themselves have the battle experiences and know-hows, backed by years of highly-rigorous highly-competitive technical-oriented military education in Zhouran's various military academies. The Zhouranese People's Army has a very long history of sending military advisers and instructors abroad to assist foreign militaries. Highly-experienced and battle-hardened, the ZPA conducts various military expeditionary operations abroad and overseas military-operations-other-than-war (MOOTW) every year. The ZPA's numerous assortment of powerful highly-advanced weapons and cutting-edge technology along with its highly-significant capabilities in both defense and power projection due to a large military budget as well as constant overseas deployment of troops has resulted in a large well-armed battle-experienced military force fully-capable of widespread deployment of force and firepower around the world. This is further supported by the nation's highly-robust R&D, rigorously-methodical military training, and meticulously-complex military education.

Having dealt with multiple unconventional asymmetrical insurgency groups in Africa and the Middle East, Weisunren knew that treating the Lumad Liberation Front like a basic conventional military by utilizing heavy firepower against them was never going to work. The Zhouranese have decades of experience of fighting both conventional low-tier militaries and unconventional asymmetrical insurgency groups in the Third World, these two form of enemies should be dealt with differently. Weisunren also knew that like with other insurgency groups abroad, the LLF knows how to pick its battles by avoiding direct confrontation with any foreign force and instead emphasize more on rapid hit-and-run tactics against local Sampornese forces. To deal with such unconventional asymmetrical forces, Weisunren wants the Sampornese to expand its military's recon and intel-gathering capabilities and finding any locations of LLF networks, as such areas of warfare are highly-important in dealing with insurgency groups. The LLF maybe poorly-equipped but Weisunren knows that insurgents aren't stupid, which is why using direct heavy-firepower on unconventional asymmetrical insurgency groups has little-to-no gains at all and does nothing but damage the environment and waste taxpayers' money on wasted munitions. Weisunren is strongly concerned that the LLF might be on the move to hide, thus making it more difficult to conduct high-precision airstrikes on LLF locations. His biggest concern was that the LLF might take refuge outside Samporna or hide within Sampornese urban areas to make it much more difficult in dealing with the LLF.

OOC: Apologies for inactivity, been busy with schoolwork.
June 17, An Ammunition Dump somewhere in Eastern Mindanao
Under the cover of trees and the night, a man casually lights a cigar he had smuggled into deployment. While Sampornese fatwas have condemned such intoxicating bad habits, this man was not a Muslim soldier; but rather a Hindu-Buddhist Lumad. He was not required by Shariah to abstain from smoking, alcohol, and other such things; however such items were still prohibited in the military nevertheless, and the man had made sure none had noticed him as he smoked behind a tree on his break.

As he let out a puff of smoke with the cigarette in between his fingers, he leaned against the trunk of the tree; of which, trees were ironically his people's gods among other things. Hindu-Buddhist Animism was the faith of the Lumads, and such a man was both breaking the rules of his job and leaning against the back of his gods. It was only fitting then, when the unexpected came, he was the unlucky first target.

Rustling in the bushes, catching him by surprise; as he caught back on to his senses and alerted himself, looking around and hiding his cigarette. There wasn't supposed to be anybody else here, unless somebody was taking a piss. "Anybody there? Comrade?"

He reached for his gun, as he crouched down with his back arched and legs spread at the edge of his toes. He aimed his gun at the bushes, where the rustling had come from; when suddenly, came a large monitor lizard, its tongue hissing around, as it looked at the soldier. A breath of relief, as he lowered his gun; before trying to find his cigarette. When without warning- A blunt and hard object struck the back of his head! As he fell forward to the ground, his eyes shut and he saw blackness.

Looking over him, a Lumad man stood.

June
The 42nd Pan-Asiatic Frontier Infantry Division and 36th Jungle Combat Company increased their security presence in and around suspected Lumad areas, securing Sampornese supply-lines, escorting Sampornese troop movements, and occasionally, scouting Lumad-controlled territories.

Datu Mao Zexi herself accompanied high-value missions of the 42nd, making daily rounds to ensure that Sampornese supplies reach their destinations in time. Datu Xu Peng led the 36th in extinguishing Lumad encampments deemed safe enough to assuage.

July 1
The Asian Military Command approves more troop traffic in Samporna. The Sampornese High Command is asked to allow the operation of overhead autonomous drones, specifically, the deployment of a Bacus "Knight Falcon" WZ-6 to maintain Sampornese-Asiatic operational integrity.

The 36th continue their ground operations, hoping to root-out high-value Lumad targets; scouring the land of the green tides for the insurgency's focal base of operations.

Following the Lumad Liberation Front's raid on an ammunition dump in Eastern Mindanao, the Zhouranese were concerned about the actual level of security in Sampornese military installations. The fact that the LLF was able to raid a Sampornese military site, along with hit-&-run attacks on Sampornese supply routes, had convinced the Zhouranese that the Sampornese military was in need of reforming and reorganizing so as to increase their efficiency in tackling the LLF. The Zhouranese were fully aware of the LLF shying away from foreign forces, especially against the battle-experienced ZPA, known for their numerous expeditionary operations abroad and their experiences with tackling unconventional asymmetric militant groups.

Days following the raid, Major Weisunren Jinfeirong had been analyzing the incident. Using recon data and high-resolution synthetic-aperture radar images of Eastern Samporna gathered from Naval Aviation, Weisunren had been theorizing that the LLF could possibly maintain some sort of a clandestine network of underground cells, basically the LLF had fighters blending in with the rest of the Sampornese public and even military. A more far-fetched but still possible theory was that the LLF could possibly be maintaining a covert complex logistical system in the jungles something akin to the famous Ho Chi Minh trail in Vietnam, and that any of the munitions stolen from the raided ammunition dump could of been smuggled into such hypothetical Lumad Trail as Weisunren liked to call it.

A Lumad Bar somewhere in Eastern Mindanao
While alcohol had been mostly outlawed according to Shariah, Lumads were non-Muslim; and so were able to drink as they pleased. Because of a bar's nature however, there were not many Muslims willing to enter, and thus little chance for any government spies to enter out of their own repulsion of the venue. Due to such, Lumad bars have become infamous for being a gathering place for Islamophobic radicals and anti-government agents.

Past all the drunks and radicals however, a woman dressed in such a way to avoid being noticed came in; with her body language telling others she was in a hurry. She came over to the bar, and whispered an order to the bartender; receiving what seemed like an alcoholic drink, but was in fact, simply juice disguised as such.

With the passing of money and such, the bartender called over a Lumad to the bar; who sat beside the woman. "So, I hear you want a new identity and safe passage past Eastern Mindanao. You got information?"

Discretely, she took out an envelope; and handed it to the man, and thus the exchange was completed.

A Supply Depot somewhere in Tagloc, Eastern Mindanao
According to the tipped information, this was the place. Supposedly, the SNA-SJ had left the installation lightly guarded, in order to focus more troops in the area around Butuan and Bukidnon, not expecting heavy attacks in Tagloc. However, the LLF had received information regarding most of the Sampornese military installations, and upon news that such a large military cache was so lightly guarded, the LLF could not simply pass on it. Confident over victories in the past months, the LLF had sent a large amount of men to raid the supply depot and bring back as many weapons, ammunition and other supplies as possible.

"On my mark, we fire-

A shot coming from the direction of the LLF, someone shot a bullet quite early. It seemed to have surprised the Sampornese guards, who fled instantly. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one, as the LLF rushed in to gather as many supplies as possible before the guards called in reinforcements. However, they had found none- Every building was empty-

BOOM! Fire and smoke and debris everywhere throughout the night, the Lumads never knew what hit them. The air whistled, and smoke sizzled, as another shell hit the ground, decimating the area. From the distance, artillery units began to fire upon the area, which Samporna has intentionally tipped off to be lightly guarded.

Major Weisunren Jinfeirong was just busy analyzing the logistics and covert cells of the LLF until he received a new intel report. In Tagloc, Eastern Mindanao, the Sampornese military used an empty supply depot as a bait for the LLF to raid before bombarding the militants with artillery. "No, no, the Sampornese shouldn't have executed this bait-&-switch" Weisunren shouted to himself as he continued to read the report from his 9.8-inch smart-tablet. The seasoned officer was concerned due to the fact that the Sampornese used a military installation, AKA a fixed site, as a bait rather than resorting to using a mobile bait such as a convoy of transport trucks. For Weisunren, using a fixed-emplacement bait was not efficient enough to bait out militants as the more frequent it becomes the more the militants will avoid targeting military warehouses due to growing suspicion. Weisunren knew that mobile convoys are less conspicuous as convoys are always in a way ambush-prone, however for a convoy or anything mobile to become a successful bait, aerial vehicles such as attack helicopters or UCAVs should be at least kilometers away from a mobile bait. Once militants ambush said bait, intimate air-support results in death and destruction raining down on militants but with high-precision accuracy, a feat the Zhouranese execute daily in overseas operations. Not only that, the mobile bait must always have at least armed escort as militants will become suspicious towards lightly- or un-guarded baits. Zhouranese armored convoys that are regularly deployed in foreign insurgent-infested zones generally experience regular ambushes, but thanks to the sophisticated protection of Zhouranese armored vehicles along with constant air-support from the ZPA Air Force and ZPA Naval Aviation, Zhouranese armored convoys became lethal mobile insurgent-traps. This meant the ZPA knew exactly how to both deal with militant ambushes and bait out militant fighters into a honey-trap.

Weisunren wrote down a four-thousand word "technical manual" on using mobile baits and utilizing air-support in conjunction with bait escorts to attract and neutralize militant ambush tactics. He then electronically sent it to General Senin bin Sagari of the Sampornese military, hoping that the Sampornese officer can read it and allow the Sampornese military to make massive improvements in their operation to hunt down LLF militant fighters.

Somewhere in Bukidnon
Through the mountain jungles, a convoy of military trucks passes through a dangerous area. As the rain rattles the leaves and dampens the soil, tires tear through liquid mud; pushing forward through the jungle. This certain route is a supply route, covered under foliage and unknown to most but government officials. An attack on such a convoy here would confirm the suspicions that someone who is most likely a former official from the previous regime is supplying classified information to the insurgents.

Suddenly the trucks are forced to stop, as piles of timber block the trail. From the bushes and the jungle, LLF soldiers pounce unto the trail, and begin searching the trucks. However, to their surprise, there are no supplies. Instead, they are met with barrages of bulletfire. An ambush, by the NASJ...

Samporna
Due to a variety of things, many Sampornese now have reason to believe that many former government officials have been working against the Jamahiriya. In particular, members of the Sampornese National Party are held in suspicion, due to the recent incident with Biru bin Rajah. Many protesters have called for a purge of such politicians, and the courts are considering the execution of various SNP politicians.
