That's not the point. It doesn't matter if the libs don't buy his lies. What what matters is people believing him and voting for him. If the Liberals are going to play into his hands, they're going to give him the election. During the Bleeding Kansas affair, Free-staters boycotted the runoff elections claiming them illegitimate. Well tough shit they boycotted and the slavers won the election. It doesn't matter if you can hold your head high, a loss is a loss.

The Free-Staters also eventually came out on top so maybe not the best example.

You have to remember, most people don't keep up religiously with every fuck up the president does.
They just see the effects around them, and so far no Big Bad has happened for most people. Life has kept on going more or less like normal in the 4 years Trump has been president. No economic collapse, but also no bad things happening to their personal finances or personal lifestyles.
So, people are not gonna be so convinced a Trump re-election is a bad thing.

If this were true his approvals would, on average, be more average and less trash than they've been. Maybe even at any given point he'd be above water.
I emphasize again that his numbers in every state are low for such a strong economy, the only logical conclusion is that people are at least paying a little attention to his shenanigans and don't like it. The "nobody cares about Trump's personal failings" is so wrong that I have to assume anyone who peddles it is projecting themselves onto the electorate.

It's not so much that they don't care.
Is that low approval ratings won't affect him one way or another if the candidate the Democratic party chooses to run is a trash candidate. Trump, against a strong contender, has no chance. But, as many pundits have said over the last couple months, this is an election Trump can't win, but Dems can lose.
It's the same thing that happened to Beto in Texas, unironically. Cruz had no chance to win, but it was Beto's election to lose, and lose he did.

Hmm, I do agree. Then what kind of candidates do you believe are strong enough to take down Trump? Biden? Sanders? Harris? Buttigieg?

>Cruz had no chance to win
>in Texas
does not compute

I doubt even Trump is dumb enough to start a war. At most he will do a bit of warmongering and then try to use reactions on the left to attack them.

But shouldnt the goal be to elect a better president rather than one with (D)?
