Welcome to the 27th edition of the International Basketball Championships!

HOSTED BY: FILINDOSTAN & ABAJA

Hashtag: #ClawsNPaws, #IBC27, #ABJFID27

Defending Champs: Vangaziland

Previous IBC: IBC 26 (Qasden)

Current Rankings: Post-IBC 26 Rankings
Need Help on Roleplay?: Guide to Sports Roleplaying

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Format: The IBC 27 consists of 48 competing nations. Therefore, the format will be as follows: There will be 8 groups of 6 nations each. There will be a double-round robin throughout the entire group stage. (Double round robin in this case means that every team in each group will face off against each opponent in their group two times, leading to a ten-game group stage.) After the group stage has ended, the top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout rounds. There will be sixteen teams who enter the knockout rounds (Round of Sixteen). Each round from the Round of Sixteen through the Final will be a best-of-three series. Also, as stated in our bid, xkoranate 0.3.3 will be used to scorinate this event.

Grouping: There will be a total of 8 groups: Groups A-H. Filindostan will be scorinating Groups A-D and Abaja will be scorinating Groups E-H. Matches in Groups A-D will take place in Abaja, and matches in Groups E-H will take place in Filindostan.

Cutoff Times: Filindostan's timezone is UTC+8 while Abaja's timezone is UTC-5. Since their timezones have a large difference, cutoffs between Groups A-D and E-H will likely be 5 hours apart. That being said, cutoffs for Groups A-D (Abaja's side) will be around 11:00 AM UTC-5 while cutoffs for Groups E-H (Filindostan's side) will be around 4:00 PM UTC-5.

Roleplay: RP'ing regularly is encouraged to participating nations because it can increase their chances of winning IBC matches. This does not mean that they will always win, though. And it doesn't mean that a nation that doesn't RP will always lose. RP bonuses will be cumulative and RP's will be judged on quality. This includes originality. Team rosters also count towards an RP bonus. It is also encouraged for nations to place a team roster as this makes it easier (and less boring) for other opponents to RP their matches against such nations. However, before RP'ing, each competing nation must read and follow their opponents' RP Permissions. RP Permissions are to be used by nations in order to regulate what their opponents can and cannot do when RP'ing against them.

OO = Major City (Pop. > 2 mil.)
OO = Medium City (2 mil. > Pop. > 500k)
OO = Small City (Pop. < 500k)
OO = Capital City (& Pop > 2 mil.)

Overview
Abaja, officially the Federal Republic of Abaja, is a fairly large nation found in the West Pacific and consists of 89 million people. The nation is led by President Aman Salam-Ross. He was inaugurated in October of 2018. The nation could be considered something like a somewhat underdeveloped and somewhat developed type of nation. (OOC: Abaja consists of mainly Africans such as Kenyans, Ethiopians, Ugandans, Nigerians, black South Africans.) Abaja since its foundation has worked its way onto economic power. The nation currently has one of the most efficient economies in the world. This can be thanked to the advancements in industry since the 1800's has led Abaja to a more stable (and richer) nation, though poverty in the country still remains a large issue. The currency of Abaja is the Abajan Côshí (CSH)

Geography & Weather
The land area of Abaja is 317,510 mile² and majority of Abaja's land is a flat, savanna type of landscape. Moving down toward major cities, tourists will find a series of large buildings. In the west, mountain ranges stretch through the area. Mount Kimpachi, with a height of 18,034 ft, is the highest point on Abajan soil. Lake Zuberi is the largest lake in Abaja and has a size of 26,564 mi² and stretches from west to near central Abaja. On the east, a major geographical point is the Abaja City River. The Abaja City River stretches from the fringes of Buhayra all the way to the eastern coastline. Sandy beaches and crystal clear waters bring millions to the east coast beaches near Sakata and Jabola. Rocky mountains along with the sandy coastlines near Kingston and Smallston bring the western scenery a touch of beauty.

Weather in Abaja typically remains moderate throughout the year. From December to February, average temperatures can drop to around 55 degrees Fahrenheit. From March to May, average temperatures rise to 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit. The months from June to September are usually the warmest, with average temperatures ranging from 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. It never snows in Abaja, but it does rain quite a lot, especially near the east coast in cities like Queens, Jabola and Sakata.

Languages & Religion
Languages in Abaja are very diverse. As of 2019, there are currently five major languages: English, Swahili, French, Britonish, and Arabic. There are also five minor languages: Guanda, Sudanese, Spanish, Yoruba, Luganda. In the western side of Abaja, Swahili and Arabic are typically spoken more than English. The east, on the other hand, is mostly composed of English first speakers. After that is Britonish, Swahili and French. Most of these vast languages have emerged due to international interactions with the outside world throughout Abaja's history.

Before 1665, native Abajans mainly spoke only Guanda, Swahili, Yoruba and Luganda. Relatively On November 17 of 1665, however, an Arabic-speaking explorer by the name of Martin Olulawi (1631-1709) set sail to the eastern coast of a rich land that is now present-day Abaja. After his 4th voyage, he decided to settle in the area. Over time, fellow people from his homeland began to settle too - in fact, they were pouring in. As a result, the Arabic language began to spread and become the dominant language of the land over the generations. That was until Britonisea stepped in in 1805.

In the years 1805-1936, Abaja was colonized by the Grand Britonish Kingdom (GBK). The GBK, while there, had a massive impact on Abajan culture, including language. Prior to 1805, 41% of Abajans spoke Swahili, 38% spoke Arabic, and 21% spoke a language called Guanda. By the year 1860, percentage of speakers were: 26% English, 21% Swahili, 18% Arabic, 17% Britonish, 12% French, and 6% Guanda. Today, the English language dominates in Abajan tongues, and is the official language of today. However, Abaja is still diverse in terms of language. In the state of Mali, 31% of people there are French first speakers. In Ugaji, 64% are English first speakers. In the state of Magharibi, Swahili is the major language. The state of Heartland has a mix of English, Britonish and French tongues.

The two dominant religions in Abaja today are Christianity and Islam. As of 2019, approximately 70% of the Abajan population identify as Christians, while Muslims make up 24% of the population. Another religion, Judaism, takes up a very small percentage of the people: 2%. Abaja is one of the world's least secular nations, as non-believers make up a tiny 1.2% of the population. Folktale religions make up 3%. If a nation is secular, however, there is no need to worry when visiting Abaja. Overall the nation is pretty tolerant. This nation is not a Theocracy.

ABAJAN LANGUAGES: PERCENTAGES
English: 41% first speakers
Swahili: 17% first speakers
Arabic: 15% first speakers
Britonish: 11% first speakers
French: 10% first speakers

Guanda: 3% first speakers
Sudanese: 1.1% first speakers
Yoruba: 1% first speakers
Spanish: 0.8% first speakers
Luganda: 0.2% first speakers

Abajan Society
Abajans, in terms of views, are a mix of socially conservative and socially libertarian. People from the western areas of Abaja, such as Buhayra, Ikeland, parts of Kingston, and Menusa, are mostly linked to the "socially conservative" mindset. Meanwhile, areas of the east - like some parts of Olulawi, Abaja City, virtually all parts of Queens, and New Plymouth - are linked to the "socially libertarian" mindset.

The people of Abaja are 91% black and 9% mixed (with white). This is in part because - going back to history again - nations of the Grand Britonish Kingdom such as Britonisea or Estogium (most of them white) would form mixed children with the Abajans during the colonization period.

Many consider the eastern part of Abaja to be the "richer" side. Cities like Abaja City, Queens, Olulawi and New Telm are major attractions for tourists. The reason why this is so is because the east dominated in manufacturing from the 1800's to 1900's. The western side of Abaja is sometimes viewed as the "poorer" side, and often times more dangerous. It took a while for the west to catch up to the east in terms of wealth, but the city of Kingston, a western city with the largest city population in the country, attracts more visitors than any other place.

Walking down the street, especially in rural areas, people would often encounter a series of drummers playing the Djembe (basically they are African drums). Usually this drum-beating is accompanied by singing or dancing. Before major events in Abajan pro sports, such as the ANBL Finals or before APL matches, groups of drummers will march in, usually with a chant.

Transportation & Hotels
Walking, taking the city bus, taking the subway, getting a taxi, riding a bike or motorcycle, or riding an airplane are all different types of transportation found in Abaja. Many people in Abaja are walkers, meaning the sidewalks can be packed, along with the roads. Having a "not-so-big" country being packed with almost 89 million, it can be tough to get around. On a bad day, people can spend hours in the same spot due to extreme traffic. Athletes coming into the country don't have to worry about that, though. If roads are congested, there are airplanes to ride to get from place to place. If visitors are into a more fun/adventurous type of transportation, they can travel through the famous Abajan tunnel that stretches from Kingston to the outer fringes of Smallston. This type of transportation is used by boat, as the area surrounding this rocky tunnel is a large body of water.

Hotels, with increased funding over the years, have increased in quality and have brought (and continue to bring) a wide range of people from Abaja and from foreign countries. Hotels offer indoor restaurants, outdoor barbecues, multiple group activities such as sports fan clubs, service clubs, library clubs, techno clubs, adult clubs, art clubs, etc., which can help bring many types of people together to share or perhaps learn a variety of things. On top of this, hotel prices remain reasonable so that the stay can actually be "worth it" to visitors.

ZORGADI AIR ARENA

Capacity: 18,480
Built: August 12, 2016
City: Olulawi, Capital District, Abaja
Sponsor: Zorgadi Air (Airline)
Home Team: Olulawi Fireflames (ANBL)
Games Hosted: Group B: MD 1-5 | Group D: MD 6-10 | Ro16 Game 2 | Semis Games 1&3

Olulawi is the Capital of Abaja and is also the third most populous city in the country with 3.9 million residents. The city is well known for it's Capitol building, found just east of the city. Olulawi, being one of the oldest and most historical cities in Abaja, the city is no stranger to sports - especially basketball. Almost every game, this Arena is filled with at least 16,000 people from inside and outside the city. Olulawi's involvement of the Zorgadi Air Corporation has benefited greatly on the city's transportation system, meaning cheaper, more consistent flights. This soon led to the construction of the "Zorgadi Air Arena" in 2015. By August 2016, the Zorgadi Air Arena was officially opened. This arena is currently the fourth newest basketball arena in Abaja

VALKEA AIRLINES ARENA

Capacity: 19,880
Built: April 18, 2019
City: Buhayra, Northern State, Abaja
Sponsor: Valkea Airlines (Airline)
Home Team: Buhayra Northerners (ANBL)
Games Hosted: Group A: MD 1-5 | Group C: MD 6-10 | Ro16 Game 2 | QF Game 2

Buhayra is the only hosting city in IBC 27 with a population of under 1 million inhabitants. Approximately 929,000 live there. The land is mostly terrain, though in downtown many can get a view of the mass of skyscrapers. Buhayra, over the years, has slowly become one of the major Abajan cities and is currently one of the fastest industrial-growing cities in the country (with the city Menusa taking the top spot). People from the city of Buhayra, as well as many other parts of the Northern State, have two major languages: Arabic and Swahili. Arabic first speakers make up 34% of the population and Swahili first speakers make up 28%. As for English, it is 25%. As compared to the nation as a whole, whose major language, English, makes up 41% of the population (first speakers), Buhayra isn't really as "English" as some may think.

As for basketball, Buhayra isn't really known for having many "stellar" basketball programs. However, it is a great venue full of supportive (and demanding) fans who flock over to college games in large masses, regardless of how good or bad their team plays. Recently the ANBL has responded to this great interest in Buhayra basketball and has therefore chosen the city to be one of the two new teams for the 2019-2020 ANBL season: the Buhayra Northerners.

Capacity: 24,480
Built: April 2, 2019
City: New Plymouth, Heartland, Abaja
Sponsor: Harrington-Poindexter Steel Company (Steel Industry)
Home Team: New Plymouth Team (ANBL - Name TBD)
Games Hosted: Group C: MD 1-5 | Ro16 Games 1&3 | QF Game 2 | 3PPO Games 1&3

The city of New Plymouth is 14th largest city in Abaja by population, with a total of 1.2 million residents. It is one of the oldest established cities in Abaja during the Britonish era (1805-1936). After securing colonization of Abaja in the year of 1805, Britonisea (who were part of the Grand Britonish Kingdom (GBK), composed of them, Estogium, Nightom and Aloquirbe) began establishing cities and towns for greater reach of resources. New Plymouth was established in September of 1817, in reference to the Britonish city of "Plymouth." Since New Plymouth was full of great pine and oak trees, the Britonish settlers found this city an area they could profit from them, and they did. In 1818, they established the "New Plymouth Lumber County" in which they shipped wood to major consumers. The County ceased to exist in 1891.

In New Plymouth, basketball is a highly anticipated sport, sometimes even more than that of association football. One reason for this is because, along with Abaja City University (ACU), they have their own highly successful college basketball program - a program based in the University of Heartland, located in the city. The university had recently pulled off an impressive run in Abajan collegiate basketball in 2017, being led by the current national teamer Malik Moussa. Also, with the coming 2019-2020 ANBL season, the league has confirmed that the city of New Plymouth will (finally) get a professional basketball team. The team name has not yet been decided. It shall be decided on May 19, 2019.

Sponsor: Wallis Bank (Banking Company)
Home Team: Abaja City Eagles (ANBL)
Games Hosted: Group A: MD 6-10 | Ro16 Games 1&3 | QF Games 1&3

Abaja City, AKA "ABJ City" is the second most populous city in Abaja with a population of 4.6 million. The Abaja City River flows through the light-filled city with a 1,211 mile stretch. Abaja City is the largest and one of the safest cities to live in Abaja, along with having the highest minimum wage in the country. Cool temperatures range from 50-65 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and a warm 75-90 degrees in the summer. H.R Wallis (1898-1976) was the founder of the "Wallis Bank" which was established in Abaja City in 1954. Even to today, this bank is still the most used bank in Abaja. This is what inspired the city to name the Eagle's court after Wallis, called the "Wallis Center", which is the second oldest ANBL basketball arena in the country. Abaja City is also known for 2 major Universities (University of Ugaji and Abaja City University). Abaja City University, filled with 44,281 students, has the most successful basketball programs in Abaja. The "Abaja City Panthers" won their 16th championship in 2016, led by Small Forward Malik al-Zalahwi, who currently plays for the the Morano Flood for the San Llera basketball league.

Kingston is the most populous and third largest city by area in the country. With approximately 8.8 million inhabitants, there are tons of new people to meet any many more places to visit. The Kingston Beach, also called the "Crystal Beach" attracts a total of 3 million people a year! Kingston also has the third smallest poor-rich gap in the country. Basketball in Kingston has sprouted significantly since 2003, and the amount of basketball fans exploded in 2012, when the Kingston Falcons won their third ANBL Championship (The first one was in 1984). Just a year later, they won again. In 2018, the Falcons, led by promising star Bhenti Baptiste, won their fifth ANBL Championship with a commanding 4-1 series win over the Olulawi Fireflames. These successes on the basketball court has put Kingston on the list of being the biggest basketball city in the nation.

Built: May 21, 1982
City: Sakata, Mali, Abaja
Sponsor: Wassonibou Techno
Home Team: Sakata Capes (ANBL)
Games Hosted: Ro16 Games 1, 2, 3

The city of Sakata is one of the easternmost cities of Abaja. Sitting at the coastline of the Abajan east, Sakata stands at a population of about 1 million, making it only the 16th largest Abajan city by population. It does, however, have one of the nations largest population densities. The city has a pretty small area size, after all. Suggestions even say that if Sakata's area size were to match that of Menusa (the Abajan city with the greatest and area), their population would reach about 3 million. The city is relatively safe, and due to it's coastal location, it can attract quite a lot of visitors, especially with the city-famous "Rocky Shore," a beach that contains large, dark-colored rocks scattered across the seashore.

PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF FILINDOSTAN

Geography

Filindostan is a small archipelago located at the depths of Esportiva. This nation is inhabited by Filindostanis, a portmanteau of the words Filis (OOC: Filipino) and Indos (OOC: Indonesian). It consists of four islands of nearly equal land mass. The four islands are named Pelita Raya, Tanjung Pagi, which are Indos-dominated, Kabishawan, and Kabunuklan which as Filis-dominated.

Image
Map of Filindostan

The capital of Filindostan is San Marco, and also its largest city in the Kabishawan Island. Although the capital also generates the most income and money for the nation, there are three other metropolitan cities, one in each other island. In Tanjung Pagi, the city of Jakulta is one of the cultural centers of the nation due to its history as the "other capital". San Rafael is known as the greenest city in the nation due to its lush forest and surrounding mountain ranges - there is only one major road that can access the metropolitan area there. The last one is the Tricities of Pelita Raya. Despite the long distance of Bandaroon from the other two of the Tricities, an expressway is connected such that travel time from either of Bandariyan and Bandarito only takes thirty minutes.

Due to the archipelagic nature of the nation, the primary mode of transportation in Filindostan is via air and sea travel. Inter-island airlines have been known and is a popular choice for people due to the promos they offer - in spite of this, air travel in the nation is not much regulated, as a result, only the Nasional Air, the state-owned airline, deemed to be the safest among the carriers, is the only airline allowed to fly passengers in international flights. The maritime transportation however is heavily regulated, with competing shipping lines and some small ships ply the seas to ferry passengers to different islands. This is because despite having bridges from the Kabishawan island to the other islands, there are no bridges connecting the other islands with each other. Bus travel within the islands themselves is a common sight, with San Lomar Bus Lines holding the monopoly of the bus operations in the outer islands. There are some routes that go beyond the islands via the bridges, but the SLC also monopolized the routes there.

There have been plans to interconnect the islands via three major bridges, but it is still in the planning phase due to right-of-way issues.

Economy

Filindostan is a third-world country by multiversal standards. Despite this, economists believe that the Filindostani economy and commerce are strong enough to withstand movements in the stock market and global recession. This is due to the fact that the pineapple and banana exports are one of the forte of the nation. There are many plantation of bananas in Pelita Raya and pineapples in Kabunuklan. Add the tourism income generated from Jakulta and San Rafael which makes Filindostan a good place to invest in.

The national currency of Filindostan is Rupeso/Rupiso (OOC: portmanteau of Rupiah and Peso/Piso, the national currencies of Indonesia and Philippines respectively). 1 NS Dollar is equivalent to around 100 to 115 rupesos.

People and Culture

Filindostani is the demonym of Filindostan. According to the latest census done in 90002, the population of Filindostan is 36,475,103, with 56 percent of the population being Indos and 44 percent being Filis. Majority of the Indos live in the islands of Tanjung Pagi and Pelita Raya, while Kabunuklan hosts many of the Filis portion of the population. In Kabishawan, around 65 percent are Filis and the rest are Indos.

Majority of the Filindostani population are Christians, forming 70 percent of the population - 95 percent of Filis and 50 percent of Indos. Twenty-five percent are Muslim while a meager five percent are atheists.

Festivals are a commonplace in the nation, with most fiestas being held in Jakulta, the capital of culture in Filindostan. Festivals ranged from flower festivals, to celebration of tunas, to football. Filindostanis are generally warm and hospitable, but sometimes can be worse as internet trolls.

Filindostanis are also generally present in social media - they even have their own social media platform.

Government

The government of Filindostan is a Democratic Socialist government led by President Dorigo Dutete and Vice President Renee Leonido. While they form the executive branch with the government's cabinet, the legislative branch is led by the congress, with three representatives per island form the upper congress - also called the Senate, and the lower congress, where each town or city being represented along with representatives of the marginalized groups, such as farmers, teachers or tricycle drivers.

National elections are done every four years - the last being the year 90000. Dutete has held the presidency since 89979 when his forces deposed the communist government. Presidents have unlimited terms, but once declared incapable to lead the country, the leader must step down from his/her position.

Sports

Filindostanis participated in the survey done during the national census in 90002 in which they were asked their favorite sport. A whopping 59 percent of the 12 and above population answered football as their favorite, followed by basketball, which gathered 28 percent, and 9 percent answered volleyball. Other sports included are rugby, handball and motor racing.

The most storied rivalry in Filindostani sports is the one between two San Marco teams, Fortunas and Venividicci. The two teams dominated football and basketball festivals, and games between them turned into social media spats and riots along San Marco.

Islands and Venues

For the tournament, Four groups of six are divided into four islands, with each island hosting one group. Three venues per island, listed by priority, were submitted to the SBF, with venue accreditation assisted by the Filindostani National Sports Commission (FNSC). The primary venue hosts two of the three matchday games, whereas the secondary venue hosts the remaining game. A tertiary venue is provided for teams to practice, and will host one of the games for the last matchday, if necessary. Access to the secondary and tertiary venues for the group stage of the tournament in Filindostan are free provided they purchased tickets for at least a matchday game in the primary venue.

For the knockout rounds, Yogyakulta, San Marco, Kabanalan, and Jakulta will host two games each.

Kabishawan Island

KABISHAWAN
Capital: San Marco

Airport - Filindostan-San Marco International Airport - City of San Marco
White triangle - Kabishawan Port - Kabanalan
White square - Filindostan National Stadium (80,000) - San Marco/Bagtasan
Red square - Fortunas Stadium (12,941 - to be expanded to 28,000) - San Marco
Blue square - Stadium Jargana (8,626) - San Marco
Yellow square - Kabanalan Sports Complex (15,150) - Kabanalan

Kabishawan (ka-bis-ha-wan) is the name of the island at the center of Filindostan. It is comprised of one highly urbanized city, a third class municipality, and two fifth class municipalities. Its lone city is San Marco, which is also its capital. This is the gateway to Filindostan, as the main airport is located here, and many buses, mostly owned by San Lomar Bus Lines, ply around the archipelago. Many of the offices and headquarters of many agencies are located in San Marco, being the busiest city in Filindostan. As such, heavy traffic is already a norm, especially in the city center. The government has proposed to decongest San Marco - Fipocor, the national power distribution cooperative in the nation, moved their offices from the capital to the southern Kabishawan in the town of Kabanalan. The government also decided to build the international airport and the then Islandic Stadium near the border of San Marco and Bagtasan.

Usually the cost of living in Kabishawan is high, due to the urban status of San Marco and its proximity to commercial buildings. Residential units usually cost 15 to 25 million Rupesos, which is five to ten times the cost of units in Jakulta, San Rafael or even Bandarito. Despite that, the transportation system in Kabishawan (especially in San Marco) is one of the most efficient in the country.

Image
Anetta Coliseum, San Marco (capacity - 17,257)

The Anetta Coliseum is one of the oldest sporting venues in Filindostan. Built in 89965, the arena has hosted multiple Filindostani referendums, basketball league games, concerts, boxing matches, and Hastags concerts. This is also a designated venue for the IUBC in the event of no host bids from other countries. Located in the city center and a train station dedicated to it, the arena is one of the most accessible sport venues in Filindostan. The arena is sponsored by Ismart, one of the biggest telecommunications company in the nation.

The only tenants of this arena are the national basketball and volleyball teams of Filindostan. Sometimes, Venividicci or Fortunas' home games against each other take place here. The arena security is very strict and tight, but with the right price, contrabands (illegal items) can be smuggled into the arena, save for explosive devices and deadly weapons. Games are usually jampacked, as this sport is the most popular in the Filindostani capital.

This arena will host two of Group G games. For the playoffs, one Round of 16 game and the finals of the IBC 27 will be held here.

Image
Kabanalan Astrodome, Kabanalan (capacity - 12,629)

The Kabanalan Astrodome, commonly known as Astrodome, is one of the arenas in Kabanalan, that is capable of hosting international games. Briefly owned by the Fipocor cooperative when they moved their offices from San Marco, the arena is now owned by the owners of the Kabanalan Sports Club 90004 sports club, and a major upgrade is being planned at the completion of the tournament.

The remaining Group G match from MD1 to MD9 will take place here. For the playoffs, one Round of 16 game and one quarterfinals game will be held here.

Image
Universiti Nasional Pilindostan Gymnasium, San Marco (capacity - 500 with standing areas)

This is the home of the Universiti Nasional Pilindostan Luntiang Aguilas (UNP Green Eagles), playing in the UCAAF and will participate in their first NSCAA season. The gymnasium is large, but it is not only used in basketball but for other indoor sports. Bleachers can be setup in ten minutes, and can provide support and training venues to participating teams in the IBC.

One Group G game for Matchday 10 will be held here if necessary.

Tanjung Pagi
Image
TANJUNG PAGI
Capital: Jakulta

Airport - Jakulta - Soetikno-Yawa International Airport - Jakulta City
White triangle - Massakar Port - Massakar
Pink square - Jakulta Esportiva Stadium (30,000) - Jakulta
Cyan square - Massakar TP Stadium (14,883) - Massakar
Tanjung Pagi (tan-jung pa-gi) is the easternmost island in Filindostan, comprised of one component city, a second class municipality, and three fifth class municipalities. These are: Jakulta City (city center of Tanjung Pagi and the Filindostani Capital of Culture), Massakar, Bonjing, Menodo and Bogo. Jakulta is one of the known tourist destinations in Filindostan (OOC: Think the beach life in Bali plus the waves of Siargao/La Union), having a city center with a lively night market, a white sands beach on the northwest portion of the city and a wavy and trechearous Filindostani Deep at the northeast portion. It also has a heritage site where streets made of blocks and kalesa and stone-age houses (OOC: Think Vigan) near the Jakulta Esportiva Stadium.

The cost of living in Tanjung Pagi is not that expensive than the likes of San Marco in Kabishawan. However, if you are a tourist or a visitor, then you'll be tempted to spend big for a week-long tour along Jakulta. I'm talking about the locals here - visitors may take a hard time looking for accommodation in Jakulta, and some are a bit pricey. Pro tip: rent a car and get a house-for-rent in either Bogo or Bonjing, which is south of Jakulta.

Jakultarena, Jakulta (capacity - 16,830)

Jakultarena is one of the newer indoor venues in Filindostan. Primarily used for the national badminton championships, the arena holds 16,830 in a basketball configuration, with adjustable lower box and VIP areas. The air conditioning in this arena is superb, such that the crowd are advised to wear jackets or bonnets to avoid catching colds. This is the home arena of the FBA's recent champions, Perokojak.

Two Group F games, a round of sixteen and the Filindostani side of the semifinals will be held here.

Image
Massakar Sports Garden, Massakar (capacity - 8,763)

Massakar Sports Garden was built to cater to Massakar's growing population and to be the regional center for indoor sports development in Tanjung Pagi. Home to the quasi-regional team, Perotapam, the arena has acceptable amenities, and a well-maintained ventilation system. The arena has room for redevelopment, and can be expanded up to double its current capacity.

One Group F game per matchday will be held here.

Image
Hendri Barsak Memorial Coliseum, Jakulta (capacity - 3,091)

Named after Universiti Tanjung Pagi-Jakulta's founder, Hendri Barsak, the Memorial Coliseum is the home gymnasium of the Pink Lions. One of the largest gymnasiums in Tanjung Pagi and in Filindostan, the well-maintained arena, with art deco designs, this is almost always selected as venues for different scientific conferences, as well as regional commencement exercises, with permission from the university itself, and various concerts. This arena, unlike other schools, has a separate security system from its campus premises.

A matchday 10 game if necessary for Group F will be held here.

Pelita Raya
Image
PELITA RAYA
Capital: Bandaroon

Airport - Bandaroon Airport - Bandaroon
White triangle - Pelita Raya Gateway Port - Bandarito/Bandariyan
Green square - Stadium Petrofilindo (22,783, expanding to 25,000) - Bandarito
Orange square - Olympiki Naturalisasi Stadium (24,763) - Bandariyan
Purple square - Hilura Bong Kanor Stadium (20,782) - Bandaroon

Pelita Raya (pe-li-ta ra-ya) is the westernmost island in Filindostan and is comprised of three component cities, and three fifth class municipalities. The so-called Tri-Cities are located in this island - Bandarito, Bandariyan, and Bandaroon (ban-da-ro-on). The other towns in the island are West Rava, Gurunsing, and Yogyakulta. Like Kabunuklan, the island is full of trees and lush forests along Bandaroon and most of its towns. Despite lagging behind Kabishawan and Tanjung Pagi in terms of economy and tourism, the Island prides itself with the fishing industry, particularly in the outskirts of Bandaroon, West Rava and Yogyakulta.

Many seafood restaurants are located here, testament of the fishing industry the island has. In Bandarito alone, there are tens of known 'dampa' (OOC: place where you can pick live fish and cook them with your desired meals), which may be covered in an upcoming article. Cost of living is much lower compared to the other two islands, but the quality of accommodations is inferior to the two islands but superior to Kabunuklan, which is considered to be the most remote of the four.

Venues
Image
Arena Olahraga Yogyakulta, Kota Otonomo Yogyakulta (capacity - 14,271)

Home to Perokotyog, one of the expansion teams in the previous FBA season, the arena is one of the most modern arenas in Pelita Raya. With budget from the assignment of the old municipality as one of the autonomous cities in the island, there are reasons why this venue, despite a two hour land trip from Bandaroon's airport, was selected over old but passable venues from Bandarito and Bandariyan. Since the cityhood, several high-rise condominiums and apartments were built around the arena, so lodging won't be an issue, unlike in the other two of the so-called tri-cities.

Two Group E games per matchday, one Round of 16 and one quarterfinals game will be held in this arena.

Image
Bandaroon Arena, Bandaroon (capacity - 7,172)

This arena, known as Maskapai Regional Pilindo Arena for sponsorship purposes, was built almost adjacent to the regional airport in Bandaroon. There are plans to further expand the arena to 14,000 once the tournament is completed, and once these plans come to fruition, their local basketball team, Perotres, will be moving in from their current Puroll Arena. They are known for good comfort rooms, and strict security, however, the noises of departing jet planes may cause disruptions to games, which they mitigated by noise-dissipating architecture. Once the expansion commences, they will have to re-do the architecture considering their problem.

One Group E game per matchday will occur in the Bandaroon Arena.

Image
University of Western Filindostan Bandaroon Gymnasium, Bandaroon (capacity - 850)

Home of the UWF-B Red Seahawks, this air-conditioned gymnasium can hold up to 850 people all in bleachers, and is located 20 minutes away from the Bandaroon Airport. One of the most prestigious universities in Filindostan and in Pelita Raya, and one of the perennial contenders in UCAAF basketball due to their strong reputation and recruitment program, before they were upended by UNP Green Eagles, and then UTP-J Pink Lions.

A matchday 10 game if necessary for Group E will be held here.

Kabunuklan
Image
KABUNUKLAN
Capital: San Rafael

White triangle - San Rafael Port - San Rafael
Maroon square - Kabunuklan Sports Complex (23,000) - San Rafael
Black square - San Mameng Municipal Stadium (8,782) - San Mameng

Kabunuklan (ka-bu-nuk-lan) is the southernmost and the most remote of the four islands in Filindostan. It consists of a component city (San Rafael), a second class municipality (San Mameng), and three fifth class municipalities (Tapia, Sinukabang-Kambing,and Birdinuguan). The other four towns in this island is almost covered by forest and plains, which is also featured in the city center itself. They take farming , responsible foresting and mining as their main source of income - and let's not forget that the San Lomar Bus Lines main office and bus depot is located in San Mameng, which was established to solve the transportation problems that lie in this island. Once the company got bigger and bigger, they focused on routes out of the capital city San Marco.

Of the four islands, this one's the least prosperous in terms of money and cost of living. The island also suffers from poor network coverage as only San Rafael and San Mameng have good quality of mobile network in the area. Due to the remoteness of the island, there is almost less to none night life in the towns, except for San Mameng and of course, the city of San Rafael. Also, this is the only island with no airport - Roll-on-Roll-off (RORO) ships are the only mode of transportation between Kabishawan and Kabunuklan besides the cramped up bridge in San Mameng.

San Rafael Sports Center, San Rafael (capacity - 10,284)

One of the oldest built arenas in Filindostan, 'The Sports Center' has been renovated many times throughout the years to provide indoor sports development to the City and to the entire Kabunuklan region. The latest renovation work to done was to change the ventilation system to a full air-conditioned arena, in preparation for Wardogs' FBA entry last season. In a survey held last season, the best food products came from this arena, and the providers of their products can show it to the international crowd visiting the country.

Two Group H games per matchday will be held in this arena.

Image
San Mameng Athletic Arena, San Mameng (capacity - 5,069)

Among the eight primary and secondary arenas for Filindostan, this is one of the least preferred by the bid committee, showing the lack of sporting infrastructure in Kabunuklan, and one of the reasons why sports teams here fail to flourish, apart from big teams and universities snagging them at youth or collegiate level. Despite several maintenance issues to its ventilation, the facility is still passable, thanks to the municipal government providing portable air coolers around the arena.

One Group H game per matchday will be held here.

Image
San Rafael University Gymnasium, San Rafael (capacity - 2,084)

Home to one of the biggest local universities in Filindostan, the San Rafael University Gymnasium is the venue of not only the home games of the Golden Bulldogs, but also the indoor sports of the Kabunuklan Games Festival held every end of the year. The bid committee only considered San Mameng as the secondary arena due to the capacity of the former compared to the latter. Should the gym can hold at least 80 percent of the capacity of San Mameng, this could have been the secondary arena instead.

A matchday 10 game for Group H, if necessary, will take place here.

OSCIORU SQUADRA NAZIONALE DI BASKETBALL

Basketball is a fairly popular sport in Oscioru, particularly popular amongst the younger generation. The country has no professional league, however there's an abundance of large regional leagues which made scouting for the best players of the nation a very easy task.

Starting V:
Point guard:Marco Ramires
Shooting guard:Philippe Mata
Small forward:Bernardino Buffone
Power forward:Reynaud Rodrigues
Post:Laurent Pecora

Substitutions
Point guard:Joan Pau Cruz
Shooting guard:Eduardo Carlevaro
Small forward:Aristides Gaspari
Power forward:Kevin Milani
Post:Sébastien Daniel

Coaching staff:
Main coach:Gianmarco Pavone
Assistant coach:Roldán Gimondi
Assistant coach:René Alescio

Playing style of Oscioru:
The country has taller than average people(average height being 182cm or 6ft), however Osci basketball requires shorter than average players(Average squad height of 188cm or 6ft2inches), who are more durable and speedy, in order to score as many points as possible, at first this might seem as a disadvantadge over other much taller players, however the average Osci player also jumps higher which makes for a deadly combination of traits.

The Republic of Mircea IBC-27 Roster

Postby Mircea » Wed Apr 24, 2019 11:21 am

The Republic of Mircea would like to announce their roster for the upcoming IBC 27. "This is our first appearance in the IBC and we are very happy to partake", stated coach John Bierele. The Republic of Mircea is looking to make their mark known by hopefully turning some heads in the upcoming competition and make a Cinderella like run. Bierele continued with, "We have built a strong foundation to make our first appearance and have preached defense with a 2-3 zone."

Mircea is lead by the Magee Twins who have dominated Mircean competition since they first ever touched a basketball. While this first appearance will be a step up in competition, the Magee Twins are looking to position Mircea into the best spot possible to win games.

Frank Larksville, a relative newcomer to basketball, has been a breath of fresh air, who is part entertainer/part athlete. His off the court antics are only overshadowed by his on court play. Many have compared him to Dennis Rodman.

David Monk has been a true success story in all of Mircea. He has overcome 2 ACL tears over the last 5 years, and while on the tail end of his career, he has put up some of his best numbers averaging 16 ppg, 4 rpg, and 4 apg for the Tikopia Ligers in the Mircean Basketball Premier League (MBPL).

Rounding out the starting five is Deshaun Foster, who has learned to play team ball since joining the Mircean National Team.

The Mircean Bench is a mix of top Mircean College players like Robert Falchek and Charles Warman and savvy veterans of the MBPL.

Coach: John Bierele
Asst. Coach: Bob Gadomski & Bob Zipko

DIGEDINGDANGDONGLINGER NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM

Starters:

PG: Heidi Honigkuchen
SG: Heinz Bratwurstindeinsauerkraut
C: Zhen Dagua (this is a female character, and Zhen is her surname)
SF: Valeria Vieleliebe
PF: Gebhard Glockenkling

Bench:

PG: Heinrich Küssinger
SG: Sara Schöneswochenende
C: Thomas Tanzdentod
SF: Undine Unsterblich
PF: Franz Friedenauferden

ABOUT DIGEDINGDANGDONG:

Digedingdangdonglinger culture mostly revolves around theatre, dance, and motorsports. Basketball is a minor sport. There are professional teams, but it isn't a central part of day-to-day life.

People in Digedingdangdong rock and roll all night and party every day. Dressing like drag queens or burlesque dancers is the norm, and people who do not conform with this custom are shunned. Even in professional sports, the uniforms tend to be a bit... unconventional. The national basketball team's uniform is bright pink booty shorts, rhinestone-studded bras, and lots of hair spray.

RP PERMISSIONS:

The Commonwealth of the Aurian Plains is proud to sponsor its first-ever bid for an international sports tournament. We have spent a long while getting affairs in order, though we have ensured both fair compensation for the participants as well as assurance there will be reasonable budgeting of expenses while the team travels abroad. This is our first foray as basketball has taken surprisingly well to our populace in spite of the regional tastes in Texas, where gridiron football is king (and in some ways, god). With a long while to take on the sports within our own borders, we feel now is the right time to test our mettle against other nations.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our gracious hosts, Filindostan and Abaja, for having our delegation. We look forward to putting on a good show in return.

Here is the roster we have sent as sporting delegation to this competition. Many tried out among our denizens, but only these twelve have earned the distinct honor of being the first in our nation's history to don the Gold, Gray, and Red to represent us in the realm of sport.

Head Coach: Guy Crenshaw
Assistant Coaches: Ethan Mendez, Lawrence Salazar
Offensive Scheme: Motion
Defensive Scheme: Man-to-Man
Nickname: Golden Foxes

Crenshaw has had massive success in the professional ranks, winning the Aurian Plains Basketball League championship three times out of five APBL Finals appearances coaching the Sherwood Knights. His philosophy resonates well with this group as they adhere as a unit to the following principles:

  • Free throws, free throws, free throws. Even the big men are expected to drill them because in a pinch where the opponent needs to foul, who will they look to first?
  • No middle. Make the "easy" shot hard as hell to make in the lane, guard the perimeter tight, and make them shoot from the arbitrary places players tend not to think about in the moment.
  • Get back. Rebounding is a challenge for this team, so only their tallest few will usually ever stay up the floor to rebound on offense. Otherwise, everyone else gets back in transition.
  • Do NOT allow the easy corner kickout. This was a massive point of emphasis once this was developed, refined, and copied all across the APBL 10 years ago. This offensive tactic and the related mind games helped the Urocyon Woods Wolves to their only franchise title.

About Our Nation

We are a democratic socialist state, valuing education, sensible public spending, and compassion for the living beings among us daily. Ours is a nation with a history involving many people from many lands, and their influences can be seen in the grand tapestry of our culture. Sports are seen as a healthy exercise regimen and a preferred method of rivalry and competition to violent conflicts or encounters. All are welcomed and invited to both take from our modern culture and share a little of theirs as well.

Sajnur makes first foray into international basketball

Sajnur's expansion into international sport continues with the country's first ever appearance at the 27th International Basketball Championship. While basketball hasn't reached the heights of football or cricket, it is a growing sport with a fully professional league, and the national team hopes to put their mark on the tournament. While a knockout stage appearance is unlikely given that only two of six teams in each group progress, Sajnur will at least hope to win a few matches.

Grand Khytonian Confederation National Basketball Team

Image

Although Khytonians pride themselves in ice hockey and football, Basketball is trending faster than when it is first played in the '50s. What is considered to be a "sissies' game" by the old, aging souls of the past generation is now considerably beloved by younger sports fans, enthusiastic trendsetters, and open-minded elders. In fact, Khytonya's basketball team has only been formed 40 years ago yet that didn't deter them from reaching greater heights and achieving victory in any competition.

Usually, height in sports is rarely a general import for athletes (with the exception being football). In basketball, however, size does matter. Especially when it comes to intercepting passes and dunking the ball since a towering figure have a slight advantage against little dwarfs. The drawback is their pace is sacrificed for height so they need to know how to position themselves better. For the shortest midgets, though, they can mostly rely on speed and agility in order to quickly breach through the defense and leap up the air to achieve the maximum attack. Unfortunately, because of the obvious short stature finding ways to overcome huge players will be a key objective.

The United Eagles may seem like a typical team with small, speedy shooting guards and tall, gigantic centers. However, none of the players are lower than six foot. This means while they get the advantage of dunking and intercepting passes from shorter players, their slight problem concerns their pace and quickness. Any team with lightning fast dribblers have a good chance to beat Khytonya so they need to get used to the fast-paced action of basketball and learn how to quickly think before one can make a play.

Undoubtedly, the star of the show would have to be center Greg Marshall. His height is its biggest asset as he towers the entire squad at a massive 7 foot 2 inches tall. Marshall is a known rebounder and does not miss a beat when the ball is about to land at the hands of his opponents. Additionally, to make up the lack of pace, Marshall makes sure he is at the correct position and prepares to advance the moment a guarded player finds a way to overcome his massive size.

The uniforms used for the national team will be provided by Wira Sports, a well-known sports manufacture supplying a range of sports and athletes across Khytonya. The home kit features a split design of double blue with gold trim and two teal lines surrounding the words 'GKC' in gold. The away kit follows the basis of the home kit except the double blue scheme is placed on the trim, collar and at the center of the jersey with the gold trim to complete the look. The KRBF logo is located at the center of the jersey.

The Basketball Masters are Back

DRAWKLAND NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM (NET CORPS)

CHAMPIONS, International Basketball Championships 25

Name: Net Corps
Colors: Black with Crimson trim
Denonyms: Drawkian or Drawkish, personal preference
NINTH IBC, Rank #3
Head Coach: Cody Morgan
Assistant Coach: Sally Hardin
Assistant Coach: Tom Chalk

Basketball is an avid sport in Drawkland, with huge cheering crowds and near-constantly playing pep bands the norm. If you've never been to a basketball game in Drawkland, you may want to bring a pair of earplugs. Or two. You'll need them.

As you may notice, the Drawkian team is sorta massive, as far as height goes. This is perfectly natural for Drawkians, as the national height average is 7'5" (they're not related to humans evolutionarily besides the shape and proportions and such). They also may seem like they're "middle-aged," but that's wrong. In fact, most professional Drawkian athletes don't retire until around the age of 40, since the average lifespan is around 150.

After having their best group stage in their history in IBC 24, the Net Corps went on to get annihilated in the Round of 16 for the fifth straight time (once by Royal Kingdom of Quebec, once by Vangaziland, once Abaja, once by Ceni, and now once by Banija). Finally, they decided they weren't going to take no for an answer. A decade of playoff disappointment took a heel-turn as the Corps made an unprecedented run to the championship game. Drawkland won the game in convincing fashion to Royal Kingdom of Quebec, and finally claimed the title of IBC Champions. While they lost in the semifinals of IBC 26 to the team they defeated in the previous semifinals, Newmanistan, they're still a Top 5 basketball power, and fresh off another NSCAA title, the basketball fans of Drawkland are rabid and ready for their team to fight for another title.

For the Net Corps, the Drawkian International Sporting Council (DISC) hand-picked team members, some high performers from last edition, a couple different all-star club players, and even a few collegiate players who REALLY shined in the NSCAA. The team is co-ed, and even the coaches are specifically selected now.

Qasden Basketball

It's been 6 cycles since the Qasden Vans introduced themselves into the IBC, with each bearing less fruit than the last. In IBC 26, a tournament originally orchestrated by people here until leadership in the project descended into absolute anarchy mid-tournament, the Blue-Reds found themselves struggling to keep up, dropping countless points and bailing out early in the group stage. The dark times brought great shame to the name of Qad Basketball, with many players and officials, including head coach, Dravin Starks, resigning following the catastrophe.

No Qads wanted take up the tainted legacy Starks had left behind. Instead, his and Bragston's positions were taken up by foreign proteges, Yao Lan and Ishidou Sai. Though unknown in the international show, the duo are well heard of for their work coaching the Qad City Capillaries, dominating season after season in the QRBL. But they won't be dealing with Tabbies and Titans this time around. They'll be battling with Royals, Rockets, Net Corps, Jiangshi, any and every team of interstellar elites as far as the eye can't see!

Can Yao Lan and Ishidou Sai save the Qasdonian Basketball Organization from plummeting to new lows in ratings? Will our rarely aging athletes ever get the chance to truly experience victory? Could Qasden ever repay the startling debt owed to magical horses after the last tournament? Maybe not on that last one, but for the others, stay tuned, stay notified, and stay alert for upcoming broadcasts of the 27th International Basketball Championships, hosted by the dynamic duo, Abaja and Filindostan!

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM

This will be Abanhfleft's thirteenth time participating in the International Basketball Championships. It's the end of an era as Abanhfleft's old stars are now bowing out of the international stage (and some of them are even bowing out of the FBA as well), paving the way for new and rising stars to take their places and hopefully bring massive and much-needed improvements to the team's performances. Really, the old guard should have moved on maybe a few years earlier, but they all thought that they still had what it takes, but IBC 26 finally proved both to them and to everyone else that they don't got it. But how about this new batch? What do they bring to the table? And what can they bring back to the Democratic Republic at the end of this tournament?

HOME STADIUM (The Fleftic Arena, Riuwiee)
Image
Presenting the Fleftic Arena, the largest indoor arena by seating capacity in the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft

Situated in the north of Abanhfleft's capital city of Riuwiee is the National Sports Park, a 140-hectare "special national designated area" in which a majority of Riuwiee's sporting facilities are located. Standing out among the stadia and gymnasia is the massive and imposing structure and flat roof of the Fleftic Arena, officially the largest indoor stadium in the whole of Abanhfleft with its official stated capacity of 100,786 seated spectators for indoor sports. The structure broke ground on September 26, 2009 as part of the capital city's reconstruction efforts following the aftermath of the Holy Catholic Revolution of 2008 which left nearly the entirety of Riuwiee devastated, and construction was completed over three years later in 2012. The Fleftic Arena is the official home arena of the Abanhfleft national basketball team and has played host to dozens of matches during the International Basketball Championships. Aside from that, the Riuwiee Presidents of the Fleftic Basketball Association occasionally uses the Fleftic Arena as its home stadium when it plays marquee match-ups against well-known teams from the league such as the Malabon Black Ops or the Markovsky Red Army, taking advantage of the arena's huge capacity when the capacity of their usual home stadium, the Sterling Arena, is deemed to be not enough for games of such popularity. Aside from that, the Fleftic Arena has also played host to at least four FBA All-Star Weekends since its inauguration and opening in 2012.

As for the stadium's location, Riuwiee is the capital city of Abanhfleft and is home to over 20 million people. The Fleftic people are very crazy and passionate about basketball, and even though their home side the Riuwiee Presidents has been disappointing in the FBA as of late, the fans still come out in droves to support and cheer for their team.

THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF THE UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF PRIDNESTROVIA
NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM

Basketball is the second most popular sport in the Democratic People's Republic of the United Socialist States of Pridnestrovia. The nation's premier basketball competition, currently known as the Pridnestrovian Basketball Super League, has been around since 1967 and is generally considered the second oldest sporting league in the country, second only to the association football competition currently known as the Pridnestrovian Super League. Basketball in Pridnestrovia, like all sports in Pridnestrovia, is generally dominated by three teams: BC CSKA Tiraspol, known as the Army Team because of its roots in the Pridnestrovian Army's sports and fitness section; BC Admiral Novorossiysk, known as the Navy Team because their founders were the same seamen who founded FC Admiral Novorossiysk who were looking for a sport to play during the winter months, when football pitches were generally unavailable; and BC Dinamo Bender, the basketball branch of the Dinamo Bender multi-sports club and eternal rivals of CSKA Tiraspol. However, in recent years, other teams such as Kesselburger Cagers, Strigoni Macaresti, and Bacardi Derinkuyu have all attempted to challenge the dominance of the Big Three in the PBSL. So far, none of them have succeeded in winning more than a handful of titles against the collective dominance of the Big Three in terms of basketball championships. It is from these teams that the national basketball team of Pridnestrovia has been assembled, although help in the form of half-Pridnestrovian sons scattered throughout the multiverse have been sought out as well. The Pridnestrovian Republic knows that the chances of the team winning this competition on their first ever try aren't so good but they will want to see a good and respectable performance out of the boys in red and green. Up the Red Army! Glory to the Pridnestrovian Republic!

Starting V

#7 PG: Armani Welch
AGE: 34 | HEIGHT: 6'2'' | WEIGHT: 188 Pounds | TEAM: Menusa Blues [ABJ] | BORN: New Telm, Abaja]

Armani Welch was drafted to the Menusa Blues in 2004. Since then, he has remained on the very same team. Welch is a pass general, and his stats show it. In his career, Welch has averaged 12.0 assists per game. He is very unselfish with the ball and is determined to have his team look good. This is what has led him to two championships for the Blues in 2010 and 2016. He is also a two-time MVP winner (2010 and 2016.) With his fairly small size (for a basketball player), Welch prefers to operate outside the paint. This could include shooting three pointers (even contested ones), squeezing in bounce passes, or swinging the ball to the outside for proper ball movement.

#12 SG: Jacob Nessal
AGE: 29 | HEIGHT: 6'4'' | WEIGHT: 209 Pounds | TEAM: Queens Bullets [ABJ] | BORN: Abaja City, Abaja]

The ANBL veteran Jacob Nessal, sometimes nicknamed "Captain J," is a powerful threat from both inside and out. In Abaja's highly anticipated basketball league, Nessal has been named MVP three times in his career so far: Once in 2011, once in 2014 and once in 2018. In his career he has helped the Queens Bullets reach the finals twice (once in 2010, and once in 2014) and led the Bullets to an ANBL championship against Armani Welch and the Blues in 2014. His quick play and effective shooting is what separates him from most domestic players. He is able to slash through defenders relatively easily and create an open shot. His play style is why is constantly gets many playing minutes per game (about 38 MPG in the ANBL at the end of the 2017-18 season.)

#10 SF: Pápá Mouyre
AGE: 32 | HEIGHT: 6'8'' | WEIGHT: 240 Pounds | TEAM: Olulawi Fireflames [ABJ] | BORN: Makazi, Abaja]

Before he was traded to the Olulawi Fireflames in 2018, Pápá Mouyre had led the Ikeland Speed to two championships (one in 2015, one in 2017.) His major partner in the 2016-17 season was Vangaziland product Chris Parkssen. Parkssen came in as a rookie in the 2016 ANBL draft, and together with Mouyre, they dominated the 2016-17 season. That year, Mouyre averaged 21.7 PPG.
Mouyre is typically a dunker - a strong one at that. That's where most of his points that are in the paint come from. He usually likes going for fancy slams, and though it isn't exactly his forte, he wouldn't hesitate to shoot a few threes either.

#21 PF: Christian Mouton
AGE: 23 | HEIGHT: 6'10'' | WEIGHT: 244 Pounds | TEAM: Queens Bullets [ABJ] | BORN: Callahan, Abaja]

Christian Mouton has proved his worth quickly. Being in the ANBL for only two seasons (almost three) he has shown that he can get aggressive down in the post. This includes snatching down rebounds, fighting for loose balls and adding in a few blocks. Though he tends to lose the ball, Mouton plays almost like the "old-school" fundamental player, which is surprising because of how young he is. This is his first time being part of the National Team.

#27 C: Joseph Olu
AGE: 26 | HEIGHT: 7'2'' | WEIGHT: 265 Pounds | TEAM: Abaja City Eagles [ABJ] | BORN: Kuclaii, Abaja]

Olu is clearly a guy who many wouldn't want to bother. He's very tall, and very quick. The Abaja City Eagles' star has been a threat since his introduction into the ANBL in 2012. He quickly became one of the best shot blockers in the league, and was always on the hunt for rebounds. In the 2015-16 season, he led the league with 13.5 RPG. In the 2016-17 season, he led again with 14.7. In the 2017-18 season, he led the league again, this time with a whopping 15.2 RPG. He has led the Eagles to three ANBL finals appearances. Though he has still failed to earn a ring, he makes a huge difference to the team with his performance.

Bench

#3 PG: Malik Moussa
AGE: 20 | HEIGHT: 6'0'' | WEIGHT: 175 Pounds | TEAM: Kuclaii Flash [ABJ] | BORN: Queens, Abaja]

After high school, Malik Moussa played college basketball for the University of Heartland, one of the best college basketball programs in Abaja. He stayed for one year, and later entered the 2017 ANBL draft, where he was drafted seventh out of thirty draftees. The team who drafted him? The Kuclaii Flash. His debut season from 2017-18 was good enough to earn the Rookie of the Year award. His strong handles and efficient jumpshot is what pushed him to the award, using his quick hands to get past opponents and often times leaves them looking silly.

#22 SG: Calvin Anelé
AGE: 28 | HEIGHT: 6'5'' | WEIGHT: 220 Pounds | TEAM: Olulawi Fireflames [ABJ] | BORN: Abaja City, Abaja]

Honestly, the only reason why this guy isn't a starter is because Jacob Nessal is just too good. Calvin Anelé is perhaps the best three point shooter in both the National Team and the ANBL. The one-time MVP has provided the Fireflames with efficient sequences of three pointers since his rookie season. He also has two finals appearances with the Fireflames, though he has yet to win a championship for them in his career. He plays with two foreign talents - Ebenezer (San Llera), who was just recently traded from the Callahan Wolves, and Darren Roser (Drawkland), a promising young center who also took part of Drawkland's National Basketball Team.

#8 PG: Jordan Asunao
AGE: 29 | HEIGHT: 6'5'' | WEIGHT: 195 Pounds | TEAM: Callahan Wolves [ABJ] | BORN: Sakata, Abaja]

Standing at six-foot five inches (6'5''), Jordan Asunao is a fairly tall point guard. This is his natural position, but he can often times switch to shooting guard. Though he has a habit of turning the ball over, he makes up for it with his intimidating defense. With his defensive stance he quickly bounces from his toes with the player he guards. He isn't afraid of contact or is he afraid of quick players. Relentlessly, Asunao interrupts passes and open shots, leading to forced turnovers and bad possessions from the opposing team

#2 SG/SF: Stanley Prince-Ochieng
AGE: 23 | HEIGHT: 6'6'' | WEIGHT: 200 Pounds | TEAM: Banasi Bulldogs [ABJ] | BORN: Kingston, Abaja]

Stanley Prince-Ochieng, or SPO, started off his ANBL career fairly slow, but had built himself up at a fairly quick pace. Some ANBL fans wonder what a guy like SPO was doing on the Basketball Federation anyway; it's not like he has done anything significant to be on the spot. But new head coach Omondi Guandoya saw in him what many others didn't: his attitude. SPO has a fighter mentality and even when he has a bad game, he puts in the same amount of effort (or more) as playing a great game.

#17 SF: Theo Guendouzi
AGE: 21 | HEIGHT: 6'7'' | WEIGHT: 220 Pounds | TEAM: Kuclaii Flash [ABJ] | BORN: Grosse-Rivière, Abaja]

We haven't heard much from Guendouzi; in fact, many Abajans also wonder why this guy was put on the team. However, Theo Guendouzi is a physical player who just came out of Abaja City University, where the panthers went all the way to the semi-finals in the last Abajan college basketball championships. Many from Abaja City and beyond thought that it wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for Guendouzi's passing skills. Though he's a forward, he plays just like a guard, passing, shooting and calling plays.

#24 PF: Jola Nicholson
AGE: 25 | HEIGHT: 6'10'' | WEIGHT: 260 Pounds | TEAM: Abaja City Eagles [ABJ] | BORN: Kingston, Abaja]

Jola Nicholson is a defensive powerhouse. Playing with the Eagles, him and his teammate Joseph Olu make it almost impossible for opponents to score in the paint. He flies in for rebounds and is difficult to back down in the post. He has also led the ANBL in blocks before. His primary problem is his foul trouble, which is why Coach Guandoya prefers to keep him on the bench first.

#14 PF: William Askari
AGE: 23 | HEIGHT: 6'9'' | WEIGHT: 238 Pounds | TEAM: Kebauchi Pirates [ABJ] | BORN: Ashton, Abaja]

#20 C: Makumassa Ndong
AGE: 31 | HEIGHT: 7'1'' | WEIGHT: 270 Pounds | TEAM: Jazzville Mustangs [ABJ] | BORN: Jazzville, Abaja]

NEWMANISTAN ROCKETS

“Two Time IBC Champions”

Basketball in Newmanistan: Basketball has a solid following in Newmanistan, though the fans are drawn to the college level a little moreso then the pros. It’s popularity is regional in nature, with the Loudon area in northeast Newmanistan being the most fanatical towards the sport. This is a competition that Newmanistan had success in back in the day, winning both IBC 4 and 5. That was a long time ago, but the Empire has been on the right track since its return, making the playoffs in their return in IBC 23, then taking a run at Saint Kanye in IBC 24. The progression has continued, making it to semifinals in IBC 25, then the final in IBC 26. We know what should be next in line, right?

Basketball is played differently in Newmanistan. There is an additional line behind the three-point line that serves as a four-point line. Shots behind the half-court line are worth six points. Players are taught how to shoot from longer then expected distances at a young age, so they will have a higher level of success at these shots in comparison to those who have not routinely practiced them. Be aware of this in the IBC, because while the four-point line will not exist in the tournament, our players are comfortable putting up shots from distances that you’re team might not be used to having to tightly defend. They are unlikely to put up shots from beyond the half court line, though, in this tournament. The big key to remember is that within the halfcourt, be expecting a shot from anywhere.

Coach: James Parsons, 63 (Loudon Leopards)
Uniforms: Envision the uniforms of the University of North Carolina as the best comparison.

Starting Five:

SF: Daquan Wilson, 33 (6'9", Putnam Lake Eagles) (#34)
PF: Jaylon Wright, 31 (6'10", Southport Tigers) (#33)
C: Tiberius Connelly, 29 (6'11", Springfield Thoroughbreds) (#45)
SG: Kenny Atwood, 30 (6'2", Loudon Leopards) (#11)
PG: Quinton Fayne, 31 (6'5", Loudon Leopards) (#3)

– The starting five could be seen by some as being a tad older now, but still this ages can be considered the tail end of one’s prime as well. Atwood and Fayne are exciting playmakers. Fayne is not afraid to put up a shot from anywhere on the court, and especially from within the half court. He leads the Empire in four point shooting percentage. Atwood will also put up the long shot, so defenses will need to closely defend these players at all times, and not just when they get near the three-point arc. Wilson will put up the long shot as well, perhaps not as often, but if you forget about him, he can be sneaky with that shot. Wright will play in the paint and look to outmuscle opponents for rebounds. Connelly makes his starting debut, but he has been part of the tram since our return. He is very physical, and while he will concede a few inches to other centers, he often succeeds in making up for this with his overall strength.

Bench:

F: Carnell Larribee, 33 (6'9", Pocono City Capitals) (#32)
F: Brian Danielson, 27 (6'9", Tundra Falls Mariners) (#30)
C: Byron Storm, 28 (7'2", Olympia Gladiators) (#55)
G: Dwayne Murray, 26 (6'4", Brighton Bulls) (#4)
G: Travis Warden, 23 (6'2", Seminole Bay Gators) (#22)
Utility: Sheik Mohammad, 30 (6'7", South Charlotte Condors) (#21)

– All of these players are stars at home as well, so they should not be considered “bench players” like you may consider such players on a real-world NBA team. They are simply more reinforcements of players who are all able to play at a very high level. Therefore, coach Parsons will not hesitate on using them, and giving them a fair amount of minutes as well. This is why the average age of the starting five starting to sneak up there a little is not a concern. These players will get quite a bit of playing time, too. Murray is a very exciting player, there is simply no room for him in the starting lineup. When he’s used, there is no let down.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my Scorers: Yes
Choose Scoring Events: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes, but only say they are hurt. I will determine the severity.
Godmod Injuries to my Players: No
Godmod Other Events: No

Also: While you are free to say any of my players “foul out”, keep in mind that the bench does get considerable playing time, too, so players in early foul trouble will likely be on the bench for longer stretches. This doesn’t mean they won’t foul out, but if you go that route in RP, you might want to add in caveats that the coach did try to manage his foul trouble at times.

THE ROCKET REPORT

IBC TO BEGIN AGAIN

by Taylor Larson,

The 27th International Basketball Championships is set to begin, and let’s all hope it runs a little smoother this time? I think it will, as the co-hosting tandem of Abaja and Filindostan are a dependable duo and won’t let this tournament be plagued by organizational troubles. It comes at a perfect time, right after the conclusion of NSCAA 10, and now we all graduate in our fandoms to watch the professionals do it.

NSCAA 10 was won by a school from Drawkland, also known as the nation we dismantled in the semifinals of the last tournament. They will still point out that they went on to win the 25th tournament, hosted in part by Filindostan as well. They can get some props for that, and congrats to Sadeg State on that win. It’s a good thing they survived in the semifinals there, or else we could point out that three Drawkish teams were eliminated by a beauty school. For a nation with such tall and manly man, evidently, that would have been kind of embarassing. Sadeg State survived, then defeated the University of Moravica, out of Banija. We can’t pick on them too much, because NSCAA 10, despite the final four and elite eight being played in Tundra Falls, was a disappointment for Newmanistan. Sadeg State also seemed to have the support of most Newmanistanians in attendance due to the fact that Moravica knocked off the #2-seed University of Tundra Falls in the sweet 16. By the way, why is Cassadaigua afraid of this tournament? I don’t know if they’ll read this, but where are they? Too busy reading fashion magazines with Concord Heights Beauty School alum? Saint Kanye retired on top, and the nation of pink doesn’t even bother despite success at the college level. Are they too excited about a NSSCRA season on the near horizon or something? At least Vangaziland is here. Yes, indeed, the Vannish. The team that kept us from winning it all last year. Will they be as hungry, or will they have the championship hangover?

This is the tournament for now. The soccer playing nations had their fun and watched Vilita beat Turori for the World Cup. Wait, so why are all these NSSCRA dominant nations popping up in my article? Is someone trying to tell me to prepare for that season? Drawkland doesn’t do NSSCRA. Probably because they are too tall to fit in a standard race car. They will probably use some excuse like they don’t care about stock car racing, or think its boring, though. I’ll stay with the fact that it’s because they can’t fit in a car that is within regulations. Despite all this talk about Drawkland, the real threat to us in our group is Ethane. Though really, both us and Ethane should make the playoffs without much worry, as long as they take care of their own business.

Newmanistan is playing in Abaja. Information about the specific cities and stadiums that we will play in have not yet publicly been revealed.

‭International travel to or from Digedingdangdong posed certain challenges, in particular figuring out what to wear. If you lived in Digedingdangdong, it was sometimes a difficult to even find clothes that you could wear overseas without getting stared at -- and then if you wore them while you were still in Digedingdangdong, you would get rude stares from the baggage clerks, airport security, and anyone you interacted with on you way to the airport. Wearing foreign "street clothes" in a Digedingdangdonglinger airport was a surefire way to get yourself pulled aside for additional security screening.

‭If you wanted to wear something that did not look like it belonged in a drag show or a cabaret, the only other clothes that were readily available domestically in Digedingdangdong were heavy-duty work clothes for construction laborers. Even these were often sold alongside male stripper costumes, so you had to be mindful that your rugged-looking oh-so-manly overalls were not the tear-off variety.

‭Dressing in the flamboyant, over-sexualized, and vaguely gay style of Digedingdangdong would get you friendly service up until you boarded your plane, but it was usually awkward at the other end of the trip. People would gawk and make weird comments. In some countries, depending on how conservative or homophobic they were, it could be outright dangerous.

‭Some people brought a change of clothes in their carry-on and got changed in the airplane lavatory so that they could arrive at their destination looking plainer and less gay than they had when they left Digedingdangdong. Other people just dressed the way they wanted to dress and put up with the gawking on one end of the trip.

‭The players and coaches of the Digedingdangdonglinger national basketball team arrived in Abaja badly jetlagged and dressed in a mismatched jumble of sequins, day-glo spandex, feather boas, and rugged work clothes. The ones who dressed plainly grumbled at the ones whose national pride was more prominently on display because they were drawing attention to the whole group. Franz Friedenauferden was almost impossible NOT to stare at. He was almost 7 feet tall, a little over 7 feet when you took his stiletto heels into consideration, his make-up was laid on so think it blurred the line between drag queen and circus clown, his hair was so poofy it had almost spilled into the next seat when he was on the plane, his feather boa was an eye-searing shade of orange, and the sparkle of the sequins on his dress was bright enough to catch the eyes of passengers lining up to board their plane 5 gates away. Undine Unsterblich wanted to pretend she didn't know him, but her bright blonde hair and rough work clothes made it hard to blend in with the locals. The first thing she planned to do when she had a spare moment was go clothes shopping.

corpsguy725: Why Drawkland > Newmanistan, Part ONE

Postby Drawkland » Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:31 pm

CORPSGUY725'S BLOG

Why Drawkland > Newmanistan, Part ONE

HAHAHAHA. Welcome back folks, it's corpsguy725, and the blog is back with another pile of unsolicited and frankly offensive sports opinions. I know most of y'all know me as more of a gridiron kind of guy, what with me always traveling to World Bowl games, but this is the real deal here. We're fresh off an NSCAA victory, and now we're in the IBC territory. We're only a couple cycles removed from our first IBC ring, and I definitely think this squad has more in the tank. These are exciting times, folks.

Now I bet you clicked on this post because of the scathing title. And let me tell you, I'm not joking about this at all. Some of you might get butthurt, especially any Newmanistanis who read my stuff (which, by the way, why? Go drool over Taylor Larsen or something, we don't talk about your subpar athletes around these parts), but I can only spit the truth. The hard, uncaring truth. Now I assume you're gonna want me to substantiate my claim. Luckily for you, I'm unlike the vast majority of internet trolls, and I do have some actual evidence to back me up. Roll the tape!

Exhibit A: The World Bowl

Of course, I'm gonna come out swinging with the thing I know the most about, that beautiful World Bowl. Newmanistan, of course, is one of the older and more storied nations when it comes to the halls of international sport, and they've been knocking around the World Bowl since basically the very beginning. And with this all this experience, skill, reputation, and time to boot, they've won the World Bowl a grand total of ..... 0 times. Are you kidding me? Are you telling me Taeshan and Qazox have rings but Newmanistan has none? That's totally laughable.

Now, a lot of people don't care about the Golden Bowl, (and I'm not just saying this because Drawkland is one of the better nations by this metric), but it's true that if you have more games carrying the Bowl than others, you have a history of not only winning many consecutive games, but either winning the World Bowl or beating nations who have. Drawkland, of course, is the 4th-best nation by Golden Games, at 27. This is 6 more than Cassadaigua, and as many fewer as Delaclava. The only nations ahead of them are Dancougar and Allamunnic States, with 38 and 39. Of course, how does the mighty Newmanistan rank on this list? They have an impressive 3 games holding the Golden Bowl. That's right, they're among the ranks of Kaboomlandia, Sibirsky, and Space. Truly elite company. The implication here is clear, despite the pedigree, Newmanistan unapologetically sucks on the gridiron.

This isn't even mentioning the fact that Drawkland has earned not only one, but TWO World Bowls in nearly a quarter of the time Newmanistan had. To be fair, Newmanistan sat out a fair number of bowls due to internal strife, but the fact remains that Drawkland had less time but way more success. Including a World Bowl win on Newmanistan's home soil, of all places.

Exhibit B: Taylor Larsen

A lot of you are also probably pretty confused. "Corpsguy725, you're generally a pretty agreeable, if not a bit too passionate, kinda guy. Why would you throw such a scathing attack at a nation we're relatively friendly with?" Well the answer to that is Taylor Larsen. I've about had it up to here with this chick. We're not gonna talk about her debut to "journalism" a few cycles ago in the NSCAA. Now normally, you'd think that an uncaring troll of a writer, especially one who manages to actually land a job with a legitimate organization, would be right up my alley. But ever since that beginning, she's really just rubbed me the wrong way. I don't trust this woman.

And all of this came to a head yesterday when I read her quick preview of this IBC in The Rocket Report. Not only did she try to diss Drawkland for their performance in the previous IBC (more on that later), but then she roasted us on losing two schools to Concord Heights Beauty School. Saying this is so unfathomably ridiculous that I might have to dedicate an entire article to it. And then she started just spouting some random shit about the NSSCRA or whatever and @'d us in it. Are you actually shitting me?

First off, we tried the racing scene early in our history with multiversal sport with the WGPC, and our driver, Will Madison, was pretty damn mediocre. Plus his teammate, Jac-Irlo Val, crashed out of every race until the season was nearly done. And then the next season Madison was even worse, so we dipped out of that. Back then, NSSCRA was still on indefinite hiatus, and national interest was at an all-time low. So DISC was like "the fuck we paying this kid for?" and decided to pull Drawkland from the international racing scene. Of course, plenty of people in Drawkland like all sorts of racing. Really, me personally, I could care less. If I were slightly more of an asshole, I could do the "duhhhh it's just driving in circles for 4 hours haha all they do is take left turns lol stoopid stock car racing" but I'm not too keen to start an internet flame war. Yet.

Taylor Larsen, as I said, is a totally different batch of apples. But I think I'll save that for another time.

Exhibit C: The IBC

So yeah, let's take a minute to address the main event coming up here. The IBC. As far as the Drawkland vs Newmanistan debate goes, I think the writing is on the wall. "Oh ho ho guys, look, Newmanistan beat Drawkland in the semis last year! They're obviously the better team!" See, try reading that in the voice of a rational human being. I didn't think so. Bring up the scoreline all you want, but it's not the first time a big team has inexplicably fallen to inferior competition by a lopsided and frankly ridiculous scoreline, and it won't be the last. As a Newmanistani journalist literally said in the post-semifinal report, it doesn't matter how good your season leading up to a game is, all that matters is that you win the actually important championship game. Who failed to do that? Oh yeah, Newmanistan did, when they lost by 20 points to Vangaziland. LOL.

These Newmanistanis are so quick to forget how Drawkland "dismantled" Newmanistan just one cycle previously in the semifinals. This is when they'll start pointing out "well uhhh Newmanistan beat Drawkland by 22 points in the IBC 26 semifinals and Drawkland only won by 13 in the IBC 25 semifinals!" I have a very simple rebuttal to this.

Kiss the rings, baby!

I could go on, about how Drawkland not only beat Quebec in the championship but did it by 11 points, which is a massively better differential than Newmanistan's 20-point deficit, but I don't want to rub it in. I will if it's necessary though. I think it's pretty clear that I've proven Drawkland's objective superiority over Newmanistan, but if Taylor Larsen opens her fat mouth again, I might have to reload with another clip. Don't make me do this.

IBC 27 Preview

So yeah, how about some relatively drama-free info about the tournament at hand? I got you covered in that department too, and probably with more actual article substance and structure than Larsen. BOOM.

This new edition of the IBC is dual hosted by Abaja and Filindostan. Drawkland in particular has been drawn in Group B and will be hosted by Abaja. As with many IBCs, there's about 3 and a half pots of ranked nations then a bunch of newbie unrankeds. We got semi-lucky in this regard, as we managed to be drawn half-and-half. Not like having a ranked Pot 4 nation vs an unranked Pot 4 nation is that big of a difference, but I think we really just need to get our wins, solidify our ranking again, and make a deep playoff run. Wins in the group stage are wins, no matter how you spin them.

Joining Drawkland as the ranked teams of Group B are Abanhfleft and the US of Devonta. Abanhfleft, of course, are a team we're very familiar with in other sports, especially in the World Bowl. While our IBC rivalry doesn't exist much, the two matches against them, especially as they're the Pot 2 team, are likely to be fiercely contested and featuring wild crowds. We've definitely faced Devonta before in some sports, but they've never been tight or particularly interesting. They should be easy opponents to defeat.

As unranked nations go, they should be relatively easy to beat. Mytanija are a new nation, but they've been active in other circles previously and are related to Mytannion, a relatively major nation in AO for a spell. While they're still unproven in the IBC, they could turn out to be the toughest of the unranked squads we'd have to face. The other two unranked nations, which we know nothing about, are Viveksylvania and the United Nations of Europa. It's not hard to predict those matches to be automatic, easy dubs. Although I've been known to eat shit before.

The playoffs this time around will be Best of 3, rather than single-elim. This breaks the trend the last few IBCs have been using, but I'm not mad at all. This is a good change, and I think it'll make for a playoffs with more parity. Single elimination ends up being so wacky and random, while Best of 5 is nearly impossible to have any upsets at all. Hooray for happy mediums! We'll likely have to be looking out for Ethane, the Free Republics, Lisander, and of course, our favorites in Newmanistan for the Abajan side of the bracket.

That's right, if things go as they statistically should, we'll be facing Newmanistan in the semifinals for the third straight IBC. And with Best of 3, they'll be no doubt who the truly superior are. But I'm getting ahead of myself. There's still games to play, and I'll be watching them intently.

Your move. corpsguy725 out.

A New Journey

Written by Rajeev Chauhan

I am back, and I will be covering the IBC 27. As you know the Pratapgadh Basketball Federation has decided to send our national team for their first ever championship. According to the team, their goal is to finish at a respectable position for their debut. They are hoping to finish at least 4th in the group stage.

Personally, I feel they should try to achieve more than that for their debut. Finishing 3rd or 4th is very good for a debuting team, but they should put their opposition team in pressure in every match. Performing very well in every match and putting more experienced teams in pressure is a bigger achievement.

I had a look at the roster, and it looks pretty good. We have a very aggressive who have the ability to score a lot of points. I had a talk with Mukut Jadeja, the captain of the Pratapgadh National Basketball Team. He said "We have a fabulous team, I know a lot of them and of course my brother Bhuvan Jadeja too. I believe this team has the potential to end up at a very good position in the IBC. We communicate a lot, and everyone is participating." I asked him about the team's goal for this season's IBC. He said "It is our first championship, and we are excited about it. We are looking to get into this championship, get some experience and work hard to end up at a good position in the group stage. But we are definitely looking to achieve more than that."

I also had a talk to the team's coach, Devilal Bajla, and wanted to ask him about the facilities and funding. He said "It is good for now, but we probably need more funding and more facilities to get better at this sport. We don't have a lot of training centres and equipment, so we need to work on that if we want more people to get into this sport. We need something like the Pratapgadh Premier League, which is a T20 league that people are so excited about, this will increase the popularity of basketball in this nation. So yeah, good for now but probably need some more help in the future."

Pratapgadh will face Alpine Union in their first match, a nation that is ranked 21. So Pratapgadh needs to do their best to overcome this team. Whatever the result, best of luck Pratapgadh!

HINODEJIN BASKETBALL LEAGUE, INTERNATIONAL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS 27
HBL Scouts on the prowl at IBC 27
SHIROBANA, MISEI
- Hinodejin basketball fans had a treat this season as some of the most attractive kind of basketball was played on the courts of the Hinodejin Empire, especially in the finals as the Hapurona Tropics clawed their second title over the one-time champions Penashiga Chiefs on the heels of a hot season by the likes of Joanna Sjöström and Yokyoishi Kureon, although that was mostly a season where the old guard mostly decided to cap off their careers with a title, retiring without much else to say once the title was raised. This wasn't a big surprise as major retirements happened across the league, targetting bigger clubs but teams like Tanami Greens and Berinii Clockwork, new teams to the league, saw a whopping seven players retire amongst the two.

With that in mind, it appears that the Hinodejin clubs are looking towards the International Basketball Championships as a way to refill their rosters with quality players. The idea here being that Hinodejin leagues usually pay reasonably well, although nothing really beats the Empire in standards of living, which is really their hope spot to maybe link that one or two superstars that show up during the tournament. Reportedly, this could also be the chance for teams such as the Sega Sonics or the Remile Pop, teams that are pretty new to the league and have yet to show any signs of success in the long run.

Considering the league has seen pretty good players come out of nowhere, the most notable one being former Minister of Sports fling and prostitute from Tentai, power forward Min Hou, a member of the Hapurona Tropics that was not picked up for the national team for whatever reason; the belief that the HBL might be seeing some stars that are... well, supposed to be stars is something of a plus in the eyes of Hinodejin fans.
