Sure it was. If he spoke freely, that just means he'd - to some sort of degree - successfully help to normalize transphobia. One instance may not be much, but that's assuming we're just ignoring the greater scope of things, wherein we already have to worry a metric fuckton more about violence, hate, bigotry, etc. than is normal. His words could easily turn into some radical transphobe killing somebody. Hate always eventually begets violence.
