Anyone expecting to move back into their family's old house in Havana after the overthrow of the Cuban government is deluding themselves. Here's how this works, including for big companies (think oil) that get nationalized. Any favorable judgments get rolled up into a big ball and included in a global settlement of differences and are paid off at pennies (if that much) on the dollar. Check a little history and you'll find that's about right. Helms Burton is a scam and a fraud...iow right up this administration's alley.

I want my 3 bedroom, 2 bath house, with a stone and fenced front porch, and a small two floor house we built in the stone walled back yard. I want the family farm back where I used to ride horses and eat mangos under the big mango tree, I want the family hotel, restaurant and bar back.
I want the 5 family style restaurants of Voltaire, the rich upper class Padrino of my family in Cuba, and the investments he had in many other businesses in Cuba, today I would have been the General Manager CEO of the five restaurants, I would have turned into a major chain of restaurants in Cuba and Miami.

Hm...The electoral conduct has been described as being fraudulent,[100] with the call for an election by the pro-government Constituent National Assembly being declared unconstitutional in the first place, especially when the body moved the election date ahead from December to April.[101] The National Electoral Council (CNE), which is charged with overseeing elections in Venezuela, is also controlled by Maduro sympathizers.[101] The Bolivarian government has also been accused of excluding opposition candidates, handpicking candidates, voter intimidation, vote buying, and offering food to those who vote for President Maduro.[100][101] No recognized electoral observers were reported to be present for the elections.[101]
Why do you like authoritarian states so much? Why are you such an intellectual hypocrite?

Also, "excluding opposition candidates"? Didn't the opposition leaders boycott the election in the first place?
Also, don't accuse me of being an "intellectual hypocrite". The argument I made had nothing to do with whether I actually support Maduro, which I don't. And I've made that clear repeatedly. So you can spare me your flaccid attempt at patronizing me.

You said he was "democratically elected". There's nothing democratic about a fraudulent election.

If the US can tolerate the likes of MBS, Putin, and Kim, then it sure can tolerate Castro, and why not? All are bloodthirsty murderers; Kim and Castro are at least nominally communist. If Americans truly hate being in league with such villains, then it should be consistent, or else drop all pretenses to civility.

Well if it was my property that got nationalised 60 years ago then I must be some kind of time traveler...
But on a serious note I doubt that my opinion would amount to much if it was a plantation where my workers were kept in a state of illiteracy and without access to medical care...
