So, Trump did jump the gun on this, but the SDF has just declared 100% territorial defeat of the Islamic State. They're far from gone but the days of the Caliphate and a pseudo-nation are over.

Nice to see that even the destruction of an actually genocidal nation that has committed the worst sort of atrocities for half a decade still only warrants an Orange Man Bad.

It's an interesting question:

If the report clears Trump, what will happen first; Will people who insisted Mueller was a dirty cop, a deep state operative, a witch hunter, a deeply conflicted prosecutor gone rogue, suddenly discover Mueller’s unimpeachable integrity? Or will people who insisted Mueller was the Last Honest Man vilify him as a cover up artist?

Only time will tell, but my money is on the former since the President has access to Twitter on his phone.

He didnt destroy ISIS, US efforts helped, both under Obama and Trumps administration, but he didnt do it solely and more credit goes to the local armies who did most of the fighting and yes trump deserves some.

He does get some credit. He really upped US involvement for a bit. But the VAST, OVERWHELMING majority goes to the local groups who died fighting the world's latest and greatest evil. We should be dumping billions into helping them rebuild and try working with the UN to send peacekeepers while peace between the various armies and the Syrian government is negotiated. But our president is too "america first" for that.

Friendly reminder that some unsavoury folk on NSG would unironically wish for Assad’s removal despite the fact that it would cause a second civil war.

The man has effectively won the civil war. ISIS was crushed by the combined government forces and Syrian Kurdish forces and the rebels are reduced to practically insignificant strongholds.

I'm sure this thread will light up when AG Barr releases the Principal Conclusions of the Mueller Investigation.

I know, I got a Fox Article, but all outlets are reporting this so, what could possibly go wrong?

Various local groups, militias, and militaries included thosenfrom Iran, Iraq, Syria, etx. The US played an jmportant support role, but almost the entirety of the actual fighting was by local Shiite, Khurdish, and organized military groups.

ISIS likely would have fallen without our help, though it likely would have taken longer. Either way, Trump really isn't to credit for defeating ISIS, though youncould fairlybsay he sped up the process. ISIS was losing ground before Ttump took office.

Some yes, others not so much. ISIS managed to piss everyone off, including rivals.

And the coalition forces aren't really Trump's doing. They existed before he was President, and ISIS was contracting before him. Some of his policies did help, but it is disingenuous to give him actual credit for defeating ISIS. ISIS's days were numbered before he ever stepped foot in the White House, he just reduced those days by an amount that is difficult to quantify.

I would not give him all of the credit. But as you yourself said, some of his policies have helped so he deserves some of it.

Honestely I don't even know why there's an investigation in the first place, the whole russia collusion originated from CNN trying to get Trump blamed for yet another thing but it looks like it went too far, I haven't followed this whole collusion thing because I know they didn't collude.
