In the beginning, there was nothing. However, the Supreme Creator (who is all-powerful) created the universe and the Earth.
You are among the Supreme Creator’s first creations, one of the Gods of Truth and Justice. There are about three dozen such Gods but you are by far the most powerful and the most intelligent of the lot.
The Supreme Creator then created mankind and attempted to guide them towards the path of righteousness. However, over thousands of years mankind continues to war, sin, commit idolatry and overall make a giant mess.
Finally, the Supreme Creator gets sick of this project so he leaves, vowing never to return. The remaining Gods govern Earth, largely using the Supreme Creator’s prescribed largely hands off approach.
At this point, you decide that humanity has had its chance and its time to for the Gods to take over. In direct contravention of the Supreme Creator’s last edict (which is that you are to guide but not lead mankind), you take a physical form, enter the mortal realm and start building an Empire. Several of the Gods are “corrupted” and join you in your quest for power.
Your attempt at world domination results in the deaths of millions of people as you launch a war of aggression and conquest. You take over most of the world with a giant army of zombies, dragons, wraiths, and fire demons.
Finally, the rest of the Gods band up, enter the mortal realm too and take you and your Empire down (resulting in the destruction of a large part of creation). You put up a very good fight but it is simply too much. Your entire army is destroyed by the might of the Gods and the mortal heroes overrun everything you control.
Realizing that you have lost and in a state of complete desperation and fear, you throw yourself before the other Gods and beg for mercy and forgiveness.
The other Gods considered casting you into the Eternal Flames but decide to give you a chance. You are imprisoned for 8,000 years and then released after you have shown sufficient remorse, humility, and repentance. During this time, you have become known amongst the mortal world as a demon and the ultimate representation of all that is evil. The mortals have formed a religion in which you are the sole cause of Original Sin (which is untrue).
After your sentence of 8,000 years is done you read out a long speech of Remorse and Repentance. The other Gods then formally declare that you have been Forgiven.
Afterwards, the other Gods treat you with a great deal of condescension and disdain (maybe understandably, since you did kill millions of people and attempt complete domination of the planet). Despite being more powerful and more intelligent than them, you are relegated to doing drudge work in the administration of the planet and there is an understanding this will be all you will be doing as penance. In the meantime, the other Gods never resist an opportunity to show direct or indirect hostility towards you. This goes on for some time and shows no signs of abating.
It’s the “harmless” kind but basically they’re directly/indirectly saying to you:
“You are a mistake. The Supreme Creator should never have created you. You have repented? GOOD. We could have just thrown you into the Eternal Flames, in fact, we should have and you’d deserve it.”
They act as if you own your very existence to them and that you should repay that with infinite servility and humility. Righteous or not, this doesn’t necessarily sit well with you.
You begin to at least consider the possibility of starting another war against these holier-than-thou Gods. You estimate that your odds of success are maybe from 40-60 percent, it’s a bit higher than last time because some of these Gods have decayed over time.
However, such a war would result in the further death of millions of mortals. Maybe you’re Reformed and don’t want to open this door again.
And very obviously, you know that if you are defeated again, then this time you’re 100% done for. Eternal banishment into the Flames is a fate much worse than death (and it goes on forever). Basically, you’d be risking literally everything.
What do you do?
Please consider the situation from the point of view of someone who has gone through all of the above. Please discuss what you would do and justify.
The poll is set as follows (there is no Other because either you plot/wage war or you don’t, there is no effective way for you to cheat the uncertain 40-60 odds of winning, waiting further doesn't further improve your odds because you too will decay):
1. It was 100% all my fault since I killed lots of innocents. I should be glad to still exist at all (Accept my humble status in the new order of things, overall be quite positive about this)
2. Their attitude greatly annoys me and I feel my treatment is at least partly unjustified, but I’m too scared and broken to rebel again; plus if I fail again they’re going to wreck me this time. (Very begrudgingly I accept my new humbled status in the new order of things, I will stew in resentment every day as the Gods tell me what to do)
3. I was a Mistake? LET ME SHOW YOU! I am greater and more powerful than any of you, HOW DARE YOU TREAT ME LIKE THIS! (Begin plotting against the Gods again, start another world war when the time is right)
