If I hadn't heard of a film before it won it's award then I don't generally seek it out as something I would enjoy watching. If they want to spend all their marketing effort to win the award good for them, I'll see it when I'm sitting on a plane.

Its very strange that I saw Green Book for the first time 2 days ago.

I have to say, its a surprisingly good and entertaining movie. I was told, "it's going to be about some black person getting discriminated against on his concert tour in the South... but its Oscar worthy so WATCH PLEASE!"

I started the movie with a very skeptical look in my eye

it turned out to be a great movie though; they did a very good job with the characters, you grow to like them

...

Crash though... is a terrible movie I agree

On the topic of movies, is anyone here a fan of director Lanthimos' works?

I just saw The Favourite and it was a very entertaining and well-executed 17th century political drama (came out in 2018). Before that I saw Sacred Deer which he also directed and it was excellent too.

Dark, morbid stuff but very well directed. His works are quite unique (although they are obviously way beyond PG 13 so be warned).
