Vírân Spêctér To Succeed Armăs Fórtídâ As Minister Of Security Of The Sunrisian Second Republic

There have been some recent changes going on within the administration of President Válîd Sâlúbĕr. These changes have been specifically taking place within the Cabinet of Ministers. Recently, Edén Sȏlítûdá has been declared a successor of Ectrăr Álienan as Minister of International Relations of the Sunrisian Second Republic. Sȏlítûdá is a member of Special Path (SP), a party, which along with the Centro-Unionist party of President Válîd Sâlúbĕr, is part of the governing Justice Coalition of Neo-Isolationism and Self-Reliance that holds a parliamentary majority and leads the Convet of the Sunrisian Second Republic.

Edén Sȏlítûdá is preparing for hearings in the Convet to receive confirmation into the position of the Minister of International Relations and the country’s leading diplomat. Her predecessor Ectrăr Álienan, the outgoing Minister of International Relations, stated that he either plans to go into another political office of municipal level or some other position of public service of non-political nature. The last job of Ectrăr Álienan as Minister of International Relations was a several day trip to New Vesvai in-between the Holiday celebrations and confirmation to the local government that Sunrisia would agree to sell construction materials to New Vesvai to build a border wall between New Vesvai and Vesvai, as well as even have Sunrisian companies handle the construction if New Vesvai was interested.

Now, it has been announced that another change within the administration is happening and another Minister is being succeeded. Vírân Spêctér of National Heroic Responsibility (NHR), also a party within the Justice Coalition of Neo-Isolationism and Self-Reliance, will be succeeding Armăs Fórtídâ as Minister of Security of the Sunrisian Second Republic. The outgoing Minister of Security Fórtídâ stated that his immediate plans, after leaving office, would be to take a relaxing break. After Edén Sȏlítûdá is confirmed as the new Minister of International Relations, Spêctér will attend Convet hearings to be confirmed as the new Minister of Security, all according to the existing protocol.

LIBERTY - Chaos broke out on Embassy Lane today as Englean security personnel fired tear gas and beat a group of protesters with nightsticks outside the Englean Embassy around noon today. The Capitol Police have characterized this as “unnecessary use of brutal force.”

20 people were injured in the altercation, including a police officer, and nine were hospitalized for their injuries. Capitol Police Chief Lincoln Pegg also said in a press conference that two Secret Service agents were injured as well.

The State Department and President Shaw himself swiftly condemned the attack, labeling it as “an assault on Freedom of Speech” and warned the Kaiserreich that this kind of action would not be tolerated in the future.

President Shaw took it a step further and issued his own statement: “This is the United States of Ouraicon. We do not repress the views of those with whom we disagree. This kind of thuggish behavior against Ouraiconian citizens who were expressing their First Amendment rights will not go without consequences.”

The protest itself was organized by the anti-monarchical Sons of Liberty. The protest was in support for a free Daredland. The roughly seventy protesters began their protest by blaring several patriotic songs such as “The Yellow Rose of Hanover”, “Hang Up The Washing On The Siegfried Line”, “Ouraicon My Ouraicon”, as well as the Dardi National Anthem.

Up until about 11:40 the protest was peaceful, however around that time several people began throwing rocks as well as other small objects at Englean security personnel and windows of the Embassy itself. Event organizers quickly attempted to stop these individuals before things got out of hand. Sons of Liberty Chairmen Clyde Parker issued a statement saying: “I nor any of the other members had seen these people at any of our other events before, and we always emphasize to those who attend our rallies and protests that violence is not tolerated. Friesienstadt, Frasian Viceroyalty – Only a few days ago the now-infamous neighbour of the Kaiserreich and Viceroyalty, Daredland, decided to reclassify its recognition of Frasia as the "Occupied Territory of Frasia." Many within the Kaiserreich and Viceroyalty expected this decision to come eventually, given Daredland's hostile stance to Eastern Corentia. The nation's recent change in government has led to multiple different hostile actions towards Eastern Corentian nations, including the Englean Kaiserreich and Belantica. Most recently, this was turned at the Viceroyalty itself. Both chambers of the Daredi "United Confederal Assembly" simultaneously removed recognition from the rebel state of the Frasian Confederacy, and instead replaced it with the identification of the "Occupied Territory of Frasia" to describe the Viceroyalty.

This recent decision was brought to attention within a meeting today in the Frasian Viceroyal Landtag, which was attended by Reichsfürst Cynfor and Chancellor of the Weniges Reich Paul Steiner. Within the meeting, it was decided to follow suit in the direction of the Englean Kaiserreich and recognise Daredland as the "Occupied Territory of Daredland." This motion was signed by both guests, with this bill soon to be reflected by the Weniges Reichstag later this week. Reichskanzler Steiner stated after the decision; "It is with great displeasure and disappointment that Frasia and the Weniges Reich are forced to recognise our bretheren as occupied peoples, but it has been exceptionally clear that this is the case. The expedited transition towards the MDAA and Western Corentia make it apparent that Daredland is nothing more than an MDAA puppet state, being utilised not for the benefit of Daredis but rather for another buffer state for the MDAA conquest of Corentia. This is the reason I opted to join the election, so that I may assist my fellow members of the Weniges Reich to allow our nation to secure a future that benefits those left behind by the Occupational Government of Daredland. Once again, the Weniges Reich will offer to speak with the Occupational Government to accomplish an end to hostilities between our two nations." Staying within the Viceroyalty, it has been announced that the vacant position of Reichsgouverneur has been filled as of 15:00 today. Consulting with Reichsfürst Cynfor, His Imperial Majesty has been noted to have been reviewing various possible appointees for the position, coming from varying backgrounds. Ultimately, with input from the Viceroy, His Imperial Majesty decided on the appointment of Freifrau Sigrid Viktoria von Kopenhausen as the Reichsgouverneur of Frasia. The new Reichsgouverneur was previously Assistant Deputy Minister of Corentian Affairs, Aide to former Reichskanzler Gustav von Heimlich, and formerly of the rank of Hauptmann within the Kaiserliche Heer. von Kopenhausen will be the first female Reichsgouverneur within the history of the Kaiserreich, and with this appointment understandably gains a large burden. von Kopenhausen will take her position along the Viceroy on Monday.

In other news, the Frasian Landtag has approved a trade deal with Rhodevus. Although the exact details have not been disclosed, it is expected to be a major deal for the territory as its first deal with a foreign nation outside the Kaiserreich. Englean Military bases to be shut down

       After the impeachment and subsequent imprisonment of Weypel’s former president, Paul Koman, for numerous counts of corruption and counts of being an Accomplice to Armed Robbery and Murder, Vice President Merida Tenrow quickly and smoothly took over and with her came a new, anti-imperialist doctrine. Her first act was to order the closure of multiple Englean bases, the largest being one near Denver. These bases were installed at the beginning of President Koman’s term in 2015.

”Mr. Koman was a corrupt man who didn’t want the best for Weypel, only for him. We will be investigating him further to see if he had any ties to Engleberg. The renewed trend of the hashtag correlates with the hashtag “#MDAAisOffensive” that has launched on EagleNet taking aim at the military bloc that Daredland seeks to join. #PiefkeRaus was originally launched in Daredland for the first time by activists and nationalists with a strongly anti-Englean stance and a stance against imperial pan-Germanism. The hashtag was also used to call for Englean and Weniges militant de-occupation of detached territories of Daredland’s Wenigberg region in the nation’s east that were seized by military force in a brief armed conflict. The territories of the Wenigberg region that were occupied in the military campaign against Daredland were reconfigured into an entity known as the Weniges Reich used as a pro-Englean proxy to pressure disloyal Daredland. #PiefkeRaus stopped trending after youth groups in Daredland organized a series of public forum around the nation between disagreeing political groups in the nation. It is where citizen of pan-Germanist, pro-Western Corentian and other views could come together and discuss without aggression. Those behind #PiefkeRaus encouraged citizens to stop using the hashtag to create an atmosphere of solidarity in the time of public forum in Daredland. That was the first time when the hashtag stopped trending. Now it’s back once more.

In other news the Confederal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Daredi Confederation Friedrich Heuvel once again addressed the diplomatic side of the Weniges conflict after the Englean puppet ‘officials’ of the Weniges Reich acting as an impostor authority of the occupied territories talked about something that would resemble a dialogue. The Daredi state will not legitimize the marionettes in the Weniges Reich by acknowledging their existence and speaking with them. There already were legal elections in the Daredi Confederation nationwide where the Daredi interim government took the risk of allowing the Weniges Representation Front (WRF) to participate. Many citizens were against this because WRF was seen as a political wing of the Englean-supported Weniges militia that started the war against Daredland and seized parts of Wenigberg by force to form the Weniges Reich. WRF got to participate in the Daredi elections also strongly thanks to ex-Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer ousted in the Flaming Revolution who now hides abroad from an investigation for corruption. It is widely known that the allegiance of Herr Schäfer was and is questioned to this day. The Weniges militia had the legal chance to win a place in the new Daredi government. It is hard to imagine a situation where any other nation would allow a political wing of a militant or terrorist group within their nation to partake in national elections. The Weniges Representation Front (WRF) lost within the legal sovereign Daredi jurisdiction so the Weniges militia decided to hold sham ‘elections’ in the occupied lands outside Daredi law. Obviously they ‘won’ there and think that they can now walk around as ‘legit.’ We are not going to participate in this theatre.

It is possible that the Englean regime will decide to give an ‘original’ response to our position and refuse to speak with our ‘Occupational Government.’ Instead they would go straight to the Sunrisians. If such a decision is made then it is only a win for Daredland because it means that we have successfully cut ourselves off from the Englean sphere of influence and from the regime’s aspirations for a pan-Germanic empire. Today in Tuzhz, Dirkhizistan, the Dirkhiz Liberation Army and the Islamic Guard hosted the first military since the revolution and the formation of the Islamic Republic. Koshbashi Nazarxon did not visit however, the press currently do not know the reason, but speculate it is due to Nazarxon's next "big move against the west" announced in December. The Parade was chosen to be today because the fact that today was the first day of the Dirkhiz Islamic Protests against the westernizing Mugharz regime, which began in Tuzhz. Over 30,000 spectators from Tuzhz watched the parade. The parade consisted of over 10,000 members of the ICOD, and over 15,000 members of the DLA. The Dirkhiz Islamic Air Force also had planes fly over the city of Tuzhz. Supreme Army Commander Tokhe Khandez, watched over the parade alongside Commander of the Islamic Guard, Alizher Rashidev. The Military showed off its missile launchers, its tanks, and it's army in the parade. There will be another Parade on January 23rd, on Arni Nazarxon's birthday to celebrate the leader of Dirkhizistan, it will be located in Rombad, the parade will be much smaller and consist more of civilian elements instead. A third parade will be held on April 15th, the day of the Islamic Revolution, which will be held in Kheshkek and be the largest parade in Dirkhiz history. Freie Reichsstadt Engelberg, Englean Kaiserreich – Much commotion has been noted emerging from southern neighbours of the Kaiserreich, Ouaicon and Wypel, in the past day. Stories published by their respective news agencies has depicted the Kaiserreich in a negative light, with the latter nation progressing in a very hostile direction. For those unaware, the recent news emerging from the two nations are as follows:

Within the nation of Ouraicon, the Sylvania Post reported on a conflict at the Englean embassy within the Ouraicon capital. According to the report, "Chaos broke out on Embassy Lane...as Englean security personnel fired tear gas and beat a group of protesters with nightsticks outside the Englean Embassy around noon today." This reported altercation occurred between members of the Englean security forces, which were identified later on, and members of an anti-monarchical group known as the "Sons of Liberty." The Auswärtiges Amt has identified the security forces as members of the Botschaftsicherheit-Bataillon, which is an agency within the Foreign Ministry charged with securing Englean embassies. The incident saw members of the Sons of Liberty group assault the BsB guards, to which the BsB guards returned by dispersing the crowd.

In terms of Wypel, the nation has announced its plans to shut down Englean military bases within the country. President Tenrow stated that the Kaiserreich would have until June to vacate the territory claimed by the nation. Ms. Tenrow connected the former president, Paul Koman, to the Kaiserreich while describing the former president as "corrupt" and also alleged that these military bases served as a "launching ground for an inevitable Englean invasion."

Today the Auswärtiges Amt issued responses to the two nations, released as statements by Außenminister Wilhelm von Richter;

"Neither the Englean Kaiserreich nor the Auswärtiges Amt condone violence aimed at a crowd, however, it has been determined by the Imperial Foreign Office and the Imperial Embassy Security Office that the actions taken by BsB officers were within the parameters defined by the Imperial Foreign Office's Sicherheit Kampfkontrollgesetz. Within this set of protocols, the officers on duty are granted the ability to respond to the perceived threat at the time. After interviewing the individuals involved, it has been further determined that firearms were observed by the lead officer and the order to disperse the crowd was given. With this, these officers will not be punished and will be transferred to another post to avoid further incident. The Kaiserreich requests that demonstrations such as this be monitored by Ouraicon authorities to prevent incidents such as this from occurring in the future. It is well known that this group of individuals are openly hostile to the Kaiserreich, and any further damage to Englean property will be expected to be paid for by either the Sons of Liberty group or the government of Ouraicon. As for President Shaw, the actions by our officers do not resemble an 'assault on freedom of speech' as you stated but rather the defence against radicals wishing to manipulate the idea of 'freedom of speech' to inflict harm on Engleans and Englean property. The Kaiserreich will not tolerate any hostile actions that are a result of this incident."

"The Englean Kaiserreich expresses disappointment in the decision by the government of Weypel to expel our forces from their nation, as well as offense to the very notion of the Kaiserreich utilising these facilities to launch offensive military action against their nation. The GKSeK has made preparations for vacating the area, and has also requested that contractors who have cooperated with the military of Weypel to cancel all contracts and to vacate the nation as well. The loss of these facilities may be unfortunate, but do not hamper the ability of the Kaiserreich to defend its territories and allies in Corentia. In other news, the Kaiserliche Heer has undergone its annual border readiness test. This test sees randomly chosen units stationed on the border undergo simulated attacks at randomly chosen times, to determine the readiness of the unit to defend the nation. It has been recommended that the tests occur more often, but His Imperial Majesty and the OKGKSeK have determined that this is not necessary. During the test, the automated nuclear deterrence unit Atomsgrenzschutz 33 was determined to be in "full readiness" when tested with a simulated full invasion by the MDAA on the Englean-Damsmarian border. Atomsgrenzschutz 33 is charged with operating the automated nuclear artillery stations on the Englean-Damsmarian border, which were automated to save operating costs in 1984. In other regions of the border, the recently victorious security forces within Frasia were also determined to be at full readiness with a simulated joint-invasion from Ouraicon and Wypel. A member of one of the units spoke with Der Adler, stating "While Sunrisia desperately finds a way to prop up its military capabilities through claimed 'victories' in its puppet states, the Kaiserliche Heer has shown itself fully capable of defending the Empire from any outside force."

As elections for the Body of Inter Community Representatives comes up this year, in light of the brother of one particular B.I.C.R. candidate being detained and brought to trial on multiple charges, new controversy surrounding candidate Johann Constein is making this already controversial man perhaps the most controversial candidate in recent history. With the charges of the recent arrest being made public, it has been revealed that candidate Constein's brother has been charged with three counts of murder and seven other counts of armed robbery. Despite the negative press surrounding the would be representative, Johann Constein has reaffirmed that he will continue to run for the position, even going so far as to decry his brother in the following statement, made to the press earlier; "It is of vital importance that we not cast judgment too soon, as we must hold to our justice system no matter how overwhelming the evidence. It is not our place to pass judgement, but it is the duty of the jury to declare guilty or innocent and the duty of the judge to pass judgment. My brother and I have not spoken to one another in years, and while I was surprised to hear the news of his arrest and the charges brought against him, it is not my place to say whether he is guilty or not. If my brother is indeed found guilty, I call on the judge in this case to pass a harsh and just judgement and to punish my brother to the fullest extent of the law. If my brother is found to be innocent, however, I call on the law enforcement community to continue searching for the real perpetrator of these crimes and to not stop until justice is served for those who have suffered such terrible loss."

When asked for comment, the candidate's brother had nothing to say.

In other news, a peaceful protest in Fort Towns, centered around a new educational mandate, devolved into a riot after several shots were fired at Riot Response Task Force personnel on location. In the ensuing chaos, Fort Towns Local Law Enforcement reported five deaths, thirty-seven injuries, and five-hundred-eighty arrests. Of the five killed, all were civilians killed by other protesters and of those injured, eight were law enforcement. With more than five-hundred arrests, one was a Local Law Enforcement officer, who was detained after using excessive force to neutralize a protester. The city of Fort Towns places estimates of the damage caused in this riot to be roughly 180,000 Credits.

The same educational mandate that sparked this initial protest, involving nearly 200,000 protesters, also has its ties to Johann Constein who has further proposed other mandates as during his time as a Towns Senator. In all cases, the bills have shown more socialist tendencies, with Constein even going so far as to praise the socialistic nations of Sunalaya as having better economic policies. Based on pre-election polling Constein's approval ratings are taking a sharp dive, with him only retaining thirty percent of his voter base this cycle.

New Upcoming Treaty Organization?

Following an earlier announcement made by General Devicks, the General Staff and B.I.C.R. have come together to unanimously agree to the benefits of the Commander In Chief's proposed international organization and have drafted a constitution for the new international entity. While not specified currently, it was stated that other international affiliations would not disqualify a nation from becoming a part of this new treaty, which is now being referred to as The Assembly of Sovereign Nations. One major difference, compared to other organizations, is the lack of a separate funding mandate with the B.I.C.R. stating that every nation has a number of things that they must pay for with the money of the taxpayer, and it is not justifiable that any international organization add to that cost when it can be run without such costs. With one member having this to say: "Our alternative is simple. Rather than having a separate organizational military body, for example, a joint task force could be used to ensure the security of the meeting place. A joint task force would provide mutual security without the need of hiring private contractors. Representatives to the organization could very easily be hand picked persons that need not add any cost, in that area, to a member nation's government. We do not charge membership fees when conducting regular international diplomacy, hence this should be no different. As for funding a headquarters, we, the Provincial Ochlocracy, have already set aside a facility for this purpose. It is a secure location that is being currently renovated for the purpose, and separate barracks structures and armories will allow for hosting security staffs from multiple nations."

Further details of the compound set aside to act as a potential headquarters have been revealed to be the compound built on PK Island, north of The United Democratic Republic of Smoya. While separate from any nation directly, this has been stated to be necessary to ensure that no one nation has undue influence on the organization. The island compound already has three runways, more than a dozen separate underground hardened hangers, the docking structure necessary to host a small fleet of destroyers, three hardened submarine pens, a hardened silo, which is attached to an above ground communications array. While the silo is attached to one underground barracks system, the individual hangers, a command and control center, and a medical facility; the ICBM has reportedly been relocated and renovations on the silo to convert it into a suitable meeting and administrative facility has begun, adding floor space and separated housing for the separate security teams and the people who would represent their governments to The Assembly of Sovereign Nations. The facility has been praised, by several prominent persons within the Provincial Ochlocracy of Denmytire, as being a location where nations could meet with one another without fear of outside interference and without fear of their safety.

Mailan Smart District Set to Revolutionize both the Energy and Architectual Worlds

MAILAN - With the construction of the Evergreen Smart Tower nearing halfway completion, the eccentric CEO of Solfab Amanda Tabbot has announced plans to construct an entirely new district of the city of Mailan which will start later this year. This new neighborhood will include more than 20 acres of Class A office, residential, retail, hospitality and outdoor spaces. And if all goes as planned, the Smart District will also be home to Mailans tallest skyscraper, and will tie Liberty's Constitution Tower for Ouraicon's tallest skyscraper. The Smart District Tower will also become the worlds second energy negative building, only after the Smart Tower in Evergreen.

"The Mailan Smart District development will not only make for an exciting time for Mailan, but should mark the start of an exciting new time for advancements the fields of energy production and architecture,” Tabbot said in a statement. “Sitting in the southern area of Downtown, the sites will utilize the same kind of energy collection and dispersion that our tower in Evergreen will use, only on a much larger scale due to the amount of space available to us." The method Mrs. Tabbot is referring to, of course, is the unique windows that will be used in this mega project. The Solfab windows are lined with solar cells that are able to turn the skyscraper into one 78 floor solar panel, not to mentions the windows that will be used on the other assorted buildings planned for the district. The district will be entirely self-sufficient and will pump the excess energy into a massive battery, which will then be used to help power the rest of the city.

Aside from the 78 story office building, the Mailan Smart District will also have 600,000 to 1 million square feet of office space, a major urban grocery store, a food hall with a culinary incubator and other concepts, a boutique hotel and residences, and a park and greenspace with recreation areas.

Space Debris makes an impact with two towns but misses capitol!

Earlier in the afternoon around Mid-day OCT as chunks of space debris struck the towns of Zagos and Alinghälla leaving 40 injured and 5 dead as pair of solid fuel boosters collided in to a residential area in Zargos whilst what is believed to be part of a old nuclear missile rocket smashed in to the busy Saturday market in Alinghälla. The third piece of space debris was reported to have made a safe crash landing that managed not to kill or harm anyone in a sand-dune 1 mile outside of the capitols western outskirts. It is uncertain what caused the destabilisation and deorbiting of the debris but work is being done to fully investigate the origins of the space debris along with ways to mitigate any future incidents of Space Debris Collisions. In a press interview an hour after the impacts,Jukka Sipilä made a promise to the people that the government will do everything it can to try and put safeguards in place along with allocating more money from the previously decommissioned ICBM projects in to starting the process of sending astronauts up to the CSS along with a research module by the end of 2020. In his closing statement, Jukka Sipilä sent is condolences out to the family who have lost loved ones and family members in today's tragic incident.

In an Interview with the National Center For Space Debris Observation the chairman of the project Manolis Tavoularis expressed his concern at the lack of government funding received by his department and stated that "If we are going to be able to stop further tragedies like the one that has just happened the government will need to take a long hard look at the balance sheets and consider making cuts in areas such as the arts and theatre or the army and redirect the funding in to the Astro-sciences and science community so that we have the funding necessary to come up with countermeasures that will be able to protect current and future generations from the growing problem of the Kessler syndrome which is now becoming as much as a problem as global warming."

Riot After Football Game In Rockport, Police Charging Instigators
Last night, a riot broke outside of the football stadium in Rockport after a very tense 3 hour match between Rockport United and Ventura FC, with Ventura coming out on top 3-2. This caused upset among Rockport residents and fans, seeing that this is the last home game for Rockport this season. Once the game concluded, fights broke out among spectators both inside and outside of the stadium, and have carried on throughout the night before the police stepped in to put it under control before morning. There was accounts of property damage and injuries reported, however, there was no deaths and severe injuries, which officials are thankful for.

Rockport police are investigating the incident and will press charges on those caught committing acts of vandalism or assault. So far, 32 people were arrested and charged with the appropriate crime. In addition, the RPD will also be on the lookout for the instigators of the rioting, and will bring them to justice. "Sporting events should be a time of fun and, get this, sportsmanship," stated Rockport police chief Dan Reynolds, "and those who decided that because our local team lost a game, will be found and brought forth or a courtroom for this disrespectful behavior to the sport, and to our city." The RPD is also going to the BFL (Belantic Football League) along with other police departments of team cities to advocate for more anti-riot promotions and control methods, including the increase of police presence at stadiums to ensure such activities can be stopped before they get out of hand.

Over 200 Arrested in Largest Military Sex Ring Bust in Rhodeve History

Since August of 2017 with the arrest of an unnamed private in the Royal Rhodeve Naval Forces, the RRMP alongside the military police have been working to compile a list of officers and soldiers who were a part of a sex scandal involving three teenage girls and one teenage boy in the Ile du Fleurs. Since then, with mounting evidence and reports of something much larger, it was discovered that a large sex ring had emerged, comprised mainly of soldiers in the RRNF (Royal Rhodeve Naval Forces) and RRAF (Royal Rhodeve Armed Forces).

At 2am West Ventismar Time, RRMP officers and military police arrested 237 suspects in the RRNF and 24 suspects in the RRAF, alongside officers, supervisors and diplomatic staff that are suspected to be involved in the ring. It has been discovered that alongside the soldiers and staff involved in the ring, there are approximately 350 teens from around the world to have been involved in the past 2 years.

"We will hold those suspected with the full force of the law on our side." Said RRMP Chief Adrian von Hulle this morning. "Those found guilty will be stripped of their rank, dishonorably discharged and sentenced to time in prison."

United Confederal Assembly votes against recognizing the Island Territory of Belantica (ITB) as a sovereign state, FM Friedrich Heuvel calls ITB ‘salty’ and ‘desperate’

Both chambers of the United Confederal Assembly have voted down an opposition-backed law to recognize the Island Territory of Belantica (ITB) as a sovereign state of Königin-Controlled Belantica. Lower house National Council and upper house Council of States were unanimous in this decision and it was not surprising. The deputies from both houses previously shared consensus on the issue. The bill to recognize the status of a sovereign state for ITB was put forth by opposition Social Liberal Party (SLP) which played a large role in the last government of the Daredi Confederacy ousted in the Flaming Revolution. SLP argued that the recognition by ITB of Daredland at least as a state with an ‘Occupational Government’ should be met half-way. But SLP did not argue to change recognition towards the Kaiserlich-Controlled State of Engleberg or ITB as anything else beyond their present status.

SLP has been facing slipping ratings in public polls because of the party’s perceived favoritism towards hostile foreign states and entities. The opposition party is also mistrusted for having a perceived bitterness towards the Flaming Revolution because SLP lost power it once held after that revolution. More radical civil activists have called for the Social Liberal Party (SLP), Party for Central Approach (PCA), Legion of Germanic Daredland (LGD) and other parties to be prosecuted for the usurpation of government that led to the Flaming Revolution. Those activists also called for the prosecuted parties to be barred from future elections. But the government has not gotten around to putting these suggestions into practice.

The decision by deputies from the National Council and the Council of States to refuse recognition to ITB as a nation keeps the previous status quo. President of the National Council of the Daredi Confederation Aagje Danmaar said that this vote finally got out of the way and SLP will no longer bother the United Confederal Assembly with it. The previous decision was to ignore a vote on ITB as an irrelevant one and at max focus only on the Englean threat from the eastern direction.

Daredi diplomats did surprisingly take time to address MDAA-related remarks from an inhabited island that does not hold a sovereign state status under Daredi law.

“I’m sure you’ve heard the ‘genius’ statement from the ‘media’ of the Island Territory of Belantica (ITB) where it was said: ‘Some Belanticans argue further actions should be taken to deter MDAA expansion, including consulting with the USA.’ This statement is very humorous for a number of reasons. First of all there can’t be a legal basis for containing an expansion of a military bloc because sovereign nations have the right to join any alliance they want. This includes Daredland joining MDAA. Second of all what does ‘Some Belanticans’ refer to? Are we talking about citizens here? In that case it’s very humorous to believe that regular Belanticans on ITB have no other daily worries apart from the scary ‘MDAA expansion.’ Third ITB is located far away not only from Western Corentia but the Corentian mainland altogether so there are no realistic threats to that island of anything coming from the continent. So let’s get back to the real world and distance ourselves from all this illogic.

All of this is about an inferiority complex, attention-seeking and failed ambitions by ITB to be a power. We especially need to address this sorry attempt at relevancy considering the fact that ITB tried to meddle in the Hasperan Republic, the Weniges Reich and spread ‘influence.’ Daredland as a state was a victim of these predatory ambitions and ITB wanted bloodshed, chaos and a renewed crisis in ‘pro-Western Corentian Daredland’ to win something out of it. They were very upset about our Flaming Revolution and did not want to let us go without losing something out of it. They were not about to allow Daredland have a peaceful present and future after a ‘pro-Western Corentian’ change of power. So for us it is especially enjoyable to look at this desperation.

ITB is ‘salty’ about not being a sovereign state that has its own sphere of influence where it would be a dominant or at least important player. ITB is in the Englean sphere of influence even if its authorities decide to ignore this fact. ITB is also in the Rhodeve sphere of influence because of its membership in the Commonwealth. It’s a satellite of other powers. A sidekick at best. So it’s humorous to observe this island trying to imitate something they’re not. Again don’t forget their distance from the mainland. United Confederal Assembly votes to recognize The Ile du Fleurs (The Ile of Flowers) as a sovereign nation, independent from Rhodevus

In the second vote of the day the United Confederal Assembly has voted to recognize the independence of the The Ile du Fleurs (The Ile of Flowers) from the United Sovereign Kingdoms of Rhodevus. It was not explicitly said by deputies or government officials but the move is being viewed as retaliation against Rhodevus for its input into the ‘elections’ in the Weniges Reich. Daredland previously threatened sanctions against Rhodevus for any organizing or mediating work in the Weniges ‘elections’ at Englean request. The ‘elections’ were held in the Weniges Reich and a successful attempt has been made to give more legitimacy to the Englean-backed proxy authority over the occupied parts of Daredland’s Wenigberg region. Rhodevus did its part in helping the Englean regime’s disintegration of Daredland’s territory. Yet no sanctions had been immediately imposed since until this move to recognize the independence of The Ile du Fleurs (The Ile of Flowers).

Daredi officials are not denying either that this move is retaliatory for the Weniges ‘elections’ but they are not putting this connection as necessarily the only one. The primary motivation is still to support struggling would-be nations in escaping the shadow of empires ruling over them. Daredland cares about the cause as a former imperial possession itself when Daredland’s predecessor state Neu-Steinland was under the Englean shadow. Some Daredi deputies have told the press that Daredland might still go through with sanctions on Rhodevus that were promised over any role in the Weniges Reich. The government of Daredland has previously warned any nation that any work with the militants in the Weniges Reich, cooperation with the Englean proxy authority in the Weniges Reich, recognition of the Weniges Reich or other activities there outside Daredland’s consent will be viewed as a hostile step, a threat to the national security and territorial integrity of Daredland.

Confederal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Daredi Confederation said that Daredland is getting ready for the possibility of more nations removing recognition from Daredland or applying other hostile measures. With this in mind the Confederation is prepared to impose the parliament’s resolution that allows for an automatic removal of sovereignty recognition from other nations having done this to Daredland. So far the Island Territory of Belantica (ITB) and the Territory of Shastara (TS) remain the only former nations to have lost Daredi recognition but other nations will indefinitely join the list in case of they stop recognizing Daredland first. Daredland recognizes the neighboring aggressor state to the east as the Kaiserlich-Controlled State of Engleberg in retaliation to the Englean state not having removed recognition from Daredland but having recognize the current government of Daredland as ‘Occupational Government.’ The recognition of the former Englean Kaiserreich as the Kaiserlich-Controlled State of Engleberg means that Daredland no longer recognize the Kaiser regime as the sole legitimate government of Engleberg. The same would be applied to other nations removing recognition from the Daredi government but not the Daredi state. There is also readiness to fire back at sanctions. Confederal Minister of Defense and Protection Axel Norge said that Daredland is closely sticking by MDAA partners to resist military pressure from hostile powers, states and entities.

Major Company Merger Denied by the Confederal Cabinet

In a meeting with the delegates of the Five States, Confederal Cabinet Chairman Yakasoko Arimuto officially denied the request by the two largest automotive companies in the Confederacy to merge their assets. According to Chairman Arimuto, this merger would "result in a monopoly that would strangle smaller companies and foreign investments" and would "only see higher prices and more government regulation." This merger has been rumoured to have been planned for the past year, with KUA and Hudai executives reportedly "creating new positions within the new company" for themselves prior to the deal. However, it is required by Kuoi law to request a merger to the government to prevent monopolisation. Had this deal gone through, the only automotive companies that would be available for citizens would have been KUA, Hudai, BMV, and Witlego Ltd. Currently the Confederal President has not made a statement on the issue.

In other news, the Confederal Navy has announced the plan to renovate the fleet by the year 2040. In this plan, the Confederal Navy would see the purchase of a number of surface vessels and submarines that would allow it to better protect the Confederacy's local waters and island holdings. It has been rumoured that the Confederal Navy will be utilising the Englean firm Germaniawerft or the Rhodeve firm Suusea as sources of these vessels, but it is currently unknown. This project is set to begin later this year with the adoption of the Shinden class destroyer, replacing the older Amikaze class from the mid-1960s.

Parliament votes to recognise Bob's backyard as a sovereign nation, independent from Rhodevus

KINGSTOWN, RHODEVUS -- After a long struggle for independence, the nation of Bob's backyard has gotten formal recognition from Lindenholt. In a session of parliament earlier today, a bill formally recognising Bob's backyard as a sovereign state was passed unanimously. It is expected that more VU nations will follow in recognising Bob's backyard as a member of the international community. The single 43 year old resident of the fledgling nation only 30 square metres in size is curiously enough also the one in charge; making Bob's backyard a direct democracy. He agreed to do an interview with us, the Knoflooker Courant. But first, before we get to the interview, let's lay out some facts about this new nation:

• Bob's backyard is the most densely populated nation on the planet, with 33,333.33... residents per square kilometre.
• Bob's backyard is home to only a single animal, a dog named Lucy.
• There are no roads in Bob's backyard, all there is is a gravel path that leads up to the garage.
• Every year in the summer people living in the border area between Bob's backyard and Rhodevus are invited for a barbecue.
• Despite being its own country, the nation has no postal service, and mail is delivered by the Rhodeve mail service.

Getting in to Bob's backyard is difficult. Due to the country's young age there are no consular services for acquiring a visa to enter the country. In fact, there was no way for our crew to know whether or not they needed a visa since there is no information available about it anywhere. Despite this, the crew boarded a plane to Rhodevus. From the airport travelling to Bob's backyard proved to be simple. The border crossing's address was Commonwealth Lane 6988 in one of Kingstown's suburbs, a mere 200 metres from it was a bus stop which is serviced by line 4.

Upon arriving at the Rhodevus-Bob's backyard border crossing the crew was surprised to find that there was no line at all. Despite their age, the Bob's backyardian customs system was already more efficient than their Rhodeve counterparts. Pressing a button next to the entrance to the country played a doorbell-esque sound, which alerted a customs official. Bob's backyard seems to have a complicated and strict immigration system as the Knoflooker Courant crew was questioned extensively. After explaining we were journalists from Lindenholt, we were let in. The entrance procedure seemed rushed, as we never got a stamp in our passports. It seemed as though they just let us in, as to prevent a diplomatic faux pas from happening.

A meeting was quickly arranged between us and the only resident of the nation. A part of the interview can be found below:

INTERVIEWER: Yes, the road to being a full blown country is indeed still far away. I gather that you're saying that only recognition from Lindenholt is enough, right?

BREAKING: Hasperan leadership publicly executes opposition

The self-declared leadership in the Hasperan Republic occupying the majority of Haspera, the subject of the Daredi Confederation has shocked Daredland. The political repressions in the self-declared entity have seen another chilling episode reminding what is going on there. The Hasperan leadership has ordered the public execution of the opposition. Politicians and activists identifying as opponents of the Hasperan leadership including those calling for reunification with Daredland have been rounded up in the main square of one of Hasperan cities and executed the old-fashion way. They have been blind-folded and shot in the back with rifles by the armed units under the command of the so-called ‘Interior Ministry’ of the Hasperan Republic. The inhabitants of the Hasperan Republic were encouraged to observe the execution ceremony live in the square. Not many people wanted to turn up so it was made sure that the execution was broadcast on television and on the internet. The Hasperan leadership really wanted everyone to see what happens to the proponents of disobedience and make their own conclusions. Death penalty is illegal in the Daredi Confederation but legal in the secessionist Hasperan Republic where the ‘leadership’ has made it easier for itself to frequently execute political opponents. The executed opposition was charged with ‘extremism’ by a local ‘court.’ The Hasperan Republic has seen frequent crackdowns on protests by police but this cold-blooded execution is the first public event to serve as a reminder of repressions in the Hasperan Republic.

The event has outraged the Daredi government which has warned that it would not allow for more of such brutal abuse to occur. Without ambiguity Daredi officials said that negotiations may be one-sidedly ended by Daredland and military action may be used against the Hasperan leadership if more heartless repressions are carried out. President of the Daredi Confederation Franz Potesinan personally made sure to get the message across.

“We must warn the self-declared leadership of the Hasperan Republic. One more stunt like this and the Daredi Konfoderaleswehr will be forced to intervene to stop what you are doing. Don’t get us wrong. The priority would not be to depose your ‘leadership’ and reinstate the territorial integrity of Daredland in the western direction. Although we doubt that wouldn’t be the result of military action aimed exclusively against your authority. The people living in the Hasperan Republic are still citizens of Daredland and we have a legal obligation to protect them from your repressions or from any harm. Nobody has granted you legal governance in the self-declared entity that you formed in parts of Haspera that you broke away from Daredland. We have not resorted to military action so far even if you do not appear to have a separatist militant force like the Weniges Reich does. You perfectly know that this wouldn’t be a long fight but you probably have those same police forces you have paid off that are now doing these protest crackdowns and executions. The strait between Daredland and Edereon is patrolled by MDAA ships so you are cut off from the outside and can’t get aid from any rogue state or terrorist group. Don’t be so confident that you are untouchable and that you can’t be punished for your crimes any day if you push the limits. We have not used force because we will not be the ones to pick up arms first so don’t make us take the lower route and apply this type of police action. Designated Diplomatic Agent (DDA) For Daredland Negotiations Párêc Adstâtér Backs Up Daredi Government Against Repressions In The Self-Proclaimed Hasperan Republic

Designated Diplomatic Agent (DDA) of Sunrisia for Daredland Negotiations Párêc Adstâtér has come out in support of statements by the government of Daredland, specifically by President of Daredland Franz Potesinan, condemning repressions in the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic by the self-proclaimed secessionist leadership in the break-away entity in western Daredland. The backlash comes following a public execution of de facto opposition in the Hasperan Republic via shooting of blindfolded victims of the execution, including politicians and activists speaking out against totalitarianism in the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic and for reunification with Daredland. The execution comes as part of a wave of periodically-continuing repressions in the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic, including violent dispersing of protests and prosecution for vaguely-defined extremism in the law of the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic.

DDA Párêc Adstâtér is a Sunrisian special envoy appointed by the Department of International Relations of the Sunrisian Second Republic to help the Daredi government in negotiations with the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic and formerly with the self-proclaimed Weniges Reich. Negotiations with the latter secessionist entity were unilaterally suspended by the Daredi government and the Sunrisian special envoy following Englean-backed/Rhodeve-mediated illegal elections outside Daredi jurisdiction in the Weniges Reich, an entity occupying the majority of Wenigberg, a region of Daredland in the country’s east. Envoy Adstâtér issued a statement backing the position of the Daredi government and in moral support to the people living in the Hasperan Republic that are undergoing the repressions:

“Sunrisia has done its’ part in isolating the self-proclaimed officials of the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic not only for their illegal disintegration of the territory of Daredland without a referendum or any legitimate elections in the seceded territory, but also for corruption of the self-proclaimed Hasperan leadership and for the repressions ongoing in the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic. Individual sanctions are in effect against the secessionist leaderships in both – the Hasperan Republic and the Weniges Reich.

However, as diplomats, our job is not to speak from the position of force, but quite the opposite. The self-proclaimed Hasperan leadership must understand that just because it is participating in negotiations, in contrast to their more militant Englean-backed Weniges counterparts that have sabotaged them, it does not mean that Daredland or Sunrisia would look at the self-proclaimed Hasperan leadership with less caution. Openness to diplomacy and a creation of this type of image, exterior or PR for the self-proclaimed Hasperan leadership will not allow it to escape responsibility for repressions, not to mention keep conducting them and not expect repercussions. What the self-proclaimed Hasperan leadership has been doing, Sunrisia perceives as crimes against humanity. The self-proclaimed Hasperan leadership is in a better position now than other secessionists by comparison, however, they are also digging a deep pit with their own actions, figuratively speaking.

To support the statement of President of Daredland Franz Potesinan, the self-proclaimed Hasperan leadership will not successfully keep testing the patience of the other side at the negotiations table. There will be consequences, so the self-proclaimed Hasperan leadership should reconsider what they are doing. Right now, they still have a chance to walk away with less problems if they resume cooperation under this negotiations format. However, new repressions and human rights abuses in the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic may very possibly sabotage the negotiations process. In case the negotiations format collapses, the self-proclaimed Hasperan leadership will put itself in a hopeless spot and at that point the fate and future of the secessionist authority will have a big question mark over it. We do have knowledge that Daredland has a mechanism, the tools and ways on how to neutralize specifically the self-proclaimed authority of the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic without harming the people living under the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic, whom Daredland and we as Daredland’s allies, are trying to protect from terror and repressions.

Again, we are diplomats and our job is not to talk from the position of force or to threaten. We are simply calling on the self-proclaimed Hasperan leadership to recognize the reality and the consequences, in case they imagine that the situation is a little different. There is not and will be no pragmatism there. Repressions cannot be ignored as a bargaining tool for the sake of continued cooperation and progress in the negotiations process. That is the principal position of Sunrisia and we hope that will continue to be the principal position of the government of Daredland for our continued diplomatic cooperation on this issue.”

The Sunrisian Naval Forces continue protecting the Ederi–Daredi strait in a naval policing mission with the goal of preventing Daredland being physically cut off from MDAA member states and thus from MDAA help. At the same time, the patrolling of the Ederi–Daredi strait provides the additional function of keeping military supplies from reaching the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic with the purpose of heating up this specific crisis by outside forces to destabilize Daredland.

A recent announcement by the Board of Internal Affairs has proved both surprising and shocking, as the agency began its review of government officials and senators, searching for any possible pro-communist or pro-monarchist actors or collaborators within its ranks. And the numbers are not good. As much as 37% of the Senate's members were found to have had recent dealings with communist or monarchist actors in the Republic and abroad. What's further is that those implicated have not been limited to any one party, but have been found acting across all of them to varying degrees. The case files are largely classified at this time, and members of the government have not been named. However the BIA has confirmed that newly-inaugurated President Arthur Albinson was not implicated in the charges either directly or indirectly, nor has newly appointed Vice-President Pabuk Thaksin.

The President, following the announcement by the BIA, has given the go-ahead for the files to be turned over to the newly-minted National Republican Investigative Police, or NRIP. The NRIP has, in turn, announced that the individuals named as part of this internal security audit would be investigated and charged on a case-by-case basis. "It's important that we don't attempt to pin a full third of our government under a blanket conviction." Said Police Commissioner James Maakkinsin. "After all, it's very much possible that some of those charged were simply unaware of who they were dealing with, but nonetheless were acting within the best intentions to the Eikan people. Only by investigating these cases individually can we be certain that we are catching the truly guilty."

Joint Canal project takes another step

After months of design and engineering studies, a Libriran team has submitted a proposed design and routing for a planned canal to connect both Aker bay, and the Kaspia Sea. The project is being jointly funded and carrid out by the Libriran and Smoyan Governments. The roots for such a canal go back to the 20th century when various Libriran administrations wanted to build the canal which would make shipping goods easier and would make the ports in Murkova more useful. However, cost always shut down these projects. Talks last year brought the dream back to life when the Smoyan and Libriran governments entered talks to explore the possibility of jointly constructing the canal.

The Canal project, as laid out in the TRUST-W treaty, would guarantee entry to both civilian and military ships of both nations, and even though entirely in Libriran territory would be run and funded through a joint canal commission with equal stakes held by both countries. The current proposal would allow the passage of ships with a beam of 30m, draft of 12m and a length 290m. Allowing for most classes of smaller cargo and lighter vessels to easily pass. The system would use 6 locks, with Lura lake in the center providing a navigable body of water bridging the two sets of locks. projected costs are estimated to be anywhere from 3.6 to 6 Billion Libfray. (6 - 10 billion NSD) for construction and various infrastructure required for the project.

There has been concerns raised by local groups on the environmental impact of the canal on the lake and local ecology. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, found that although the passage of ships trough the lake would impact some fish populations in the western side of the like, it would be localized and the net impact from the lower need for trucking etc. would lead the canal to being environmentally positive or balanced in the grand scheme. This has of course not stopped local environmentalists from protesting in Krasnigrad, Libra, and Nardonyy Gorod as well as other towns on the impact the canal could have.

The next step is to gain the approval of the current design plan from their Smoyan comrades, so that the project can begin construction planning. Already several Smoyan and Libriran firms have expressed interest in bidding to join the construction group for the project. Sergei Frumov a design team member had this to say; "We have made some important progress, however there is still a long road and many years of hard work ahead, we have to keeping working to make this project a reality".

Knights Representing the Kingdom of Anduri Take the Field

First held in 835 to celebrate the formation of the Revonic Federation, the Andurian Games give Rezuans a week to witness the quintessential mark of our medieval ancestry in action : knights and man-at-arms. Held in Anduri until its collapse, the Games have moved from province to province each year. This year, the Games are held in their birthplace, in Anduri. Thought this Anduri is neither kingdom nor province. Anduri is a region of Rezua with some of its own local government that answers to imperial law and also has Rezuan officials, though it is a region smaller than every other province. Anduri was refounded by Emperor Augustus to thank the hundreds of ethnic Andurians who mislead imperial soldiers in 1943 so that his landing in southern Rezua was nearly unchallenged.

The Andurian Games are held every year for a week in January. Students receive days off on the Monday and Friday of Games week. The Games acted as a way for lords to win favor in the past and are now a form of national entertainment. Once restricted to lords only, the games were opened to the average citizen in 1949. Many cities across the nation sponsor teams, akin to how others host sporting teams in other nations. These teams duel during their "fighting" season as well as during these games. The Games are made up of many different "fight" types, with the most popular being ten-men-skirmish, duels, and three-team-stranger. More on these events will be covered as they appear during the week.

The most traditional game is held on Opening Day, which is comprised of the top forty teams from the previous year. Teams select one expert in each of the five categories (sword, bow, mounted lance, polearm, and knife) to represent them in the Opening Games. In the Opening Games, an expert at one kind of weapon takes on other team's experts in a bracket until only one champion remains. There are six events, five for each individual weapon and one for all five members. And this year, House Everen came out on top for the first time since Josef Everen and Juliet Everen pulled out victorious in a overall tie round with Team Clairsburg in 2001.

Representing House Everen this year were Ymira Everen-Abrams (sword), Sierra Everen-Abrams (knife), Christina Everen (bow), Richard Everen (lance), and Caleb Krause (polearm). House Everen won the sword, bow, knife, and overall event, taking four of six possible victories and has thus earned the honor and duty to act as Game Monarchs during the week. In her event, the Empress captured the swordsmanship of her youth and out smarted her opponents with lightening fast strikes, as she was seen to due in fencing events in her youth. In the knife event, Princess Sierra's use of Rhodevan martial arts proved too much for her opponents. Surprising of all, however, was Princess Christina's skill with the bow. Often hailed as the most distinguished flying ace in Rezuan (if not Commonwealth) history, none expected the Christina Everen to have such skill with a bow. The princess protested modestly, that she has been practicing for many years. Which is probably true, since she has represented House Everen in bow since the age of fifteen.

Most surprising overall, however, must have been the performance of Prince Richard and his brother in the overall round. While they did not win their categories individually, the rookie brothers stepped up to the defense of House Everen when Ymira Everen was surrounded by Team Berlyar. Jorin Elmsen (sword) and Peter Fletcher (lance) cornered the Empress while their teammates desperately held off the rest of House Everen. Richard and Caleb forced their way to the Empress, eliminating two members of Team Berlyar. Richard Everen was eliminated by Jorin Elmsen who then took out Christina Everen (who had eliminated Peter Flecher, allowing her sister to escape to her fellows). Jorin was eliminated by Caleb Krause as Jorin made a mad dash towards Ymira Everen, preventing the loss of a team member close to elimination. Alice Wyatt (bow) was the last member of Team Berylar in the tournment. The final blow was dealt by Princess Sierra, who managed to reach her opponent by standing behind the Empress' shield as she advanced. Truly a magnificent display!

PK Island Missile Silo Now International Organization Headquarters

Renovation of PK Island, north of The United Democratic Republic of Smoya, has been completed ahead of schedule, with the largest renovation project being the conversion of the island's ICBM silo into a secure and hardened headquarters for the still developing international organization. In the announcement of the site's completion, some General Staff officers have voiced concerns over no longer having a nuclear device on standby in the western hemisphere, while others have claimed that this organization will help to ensure such implements of war never be needed. After the renovations were completed, the island's Marine Corps and Navy contingent were mostly removed with the location's effective demilitarization, reducing PODan forces within the area by one Marine Corps division, consisting of nearly twenty thousand personnel, and one P.O.D.N. Carrier Battle Group, which the G.S. has announced would not greatly diminish the effectiveness of the military within the area.

According to General Devicks, the layout of the restructured silo would be able to provide extensively secure separate housing for up to fourteen nations, including the Provincial Ochlocracy of Denmytire. By design, every representative groups would be given a full level of the silo, each level with its own independent security housing, medical facility, primary and secondary housing units, restrooms and showers, and independent climate control. At the top level to the silo, the General Staff had decided it wise to include a recreational level while meetings would be conducted at the lower most level, all housing levels would be between these two. With power provided by a small nuclear reactor on the island and water from a deep freshwater well, filtered and purified before being piped into the silo, it has been stated that persons would be capable of remaining safe and well supplied through nearly any conceivable event. The information provided to us, regarding the headquarters setup, has also indicated that each level of the silo has been tied into an independent communications system, meaning that any nation's representatives would be capable of outside communication without fear of eavesdropping.

Even after the vast majority of military assets were removed from the island, nearly 150 Marines are remaining to maintain site security until replaced by P.O.D. Honor Guard personnel arrive to relieve them.

Organization Preamble

It is the eternal purpose of The Assembly of Sovereign Nations (hereafter refered to within this document as “the organization” or “this organization”) to enshrine and protect the sovereignty of all nations and the natural rights of all peoples; and to this ends this organization, formed by the nations of Sunalaya who support both freedoms and sovereignty, is established.

Article I Concerning Trade Of Member States

Section I
As to increase the influence of the member states, economically and among the global populaces, it has been determined to be in the best interest of the organization and its member states for members to engage in preferential trade with the other members. In such trading efforts, member states must agree to not participate in sanctions levied against other member states by other international organizations or other nations. While sanctions and embargoes are to be considered a sovereign right of all nations, it is in the interest of all member states that no such trade restrictions be permitted to occur between member states. In summation, no member state may place embargoes or sanctions or participate in embargoes and sanctions against another member state without provable due cause.

Section II
Due cause for the levying of trade embargoes and sanctions against a member state shall be considered any of following violations:

1. Any remarkable violations of basic human rights, to be defined in Article II, based on ethnicity;
2. Any remarkable violations of the sovereignty of an independent nation without due cause, which is to be outlined in Article IV;
3. Any violations of the agreements outlined as the foundations of this organization.

Article II Concerning Basic Human Rights

Section I
The following individual rights are considered, by members of this organization, to be inalienable:

1. Freedom of speech, to be further defined in Section III;
2. Freedom to peaceably assemble, to be further defined in Section IV;
3. A right to remain silent, to be further defined in Section V;
4. A right to own personal property

Section II
By joining this organization, all member states have agreed to enshrine these four most basic rights and expect to be held accountable by other member states, with what constitutes a violation of these rights being outlined in Section VI.

Section III
Freedom of speech is to be defined as the right of every person to speak and write freely and publicly; with exception to calls to action and violations of a nation's religious statutes.

Section IV
The right to peaceably assemble is to be defined as the right of every person to consult for the common good.

Section V
The right to remain silent is to be defined as the right of every person to not be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself.

Section VI
Any infringement or suspension of the rights outlined above, except when as prescribed as punishment by court law, will constitute a violation.

Article III Concerning Member State Defensive Forces

Section I
All member states are to posses a means to defend itself from foreign invasion and means to assist in the defense of any other member state when specifically called on to do so.

Section II
While it is the sovereign right of all nations to engage in warfare for any reason they deem fit, no other member states shall be compelled to engage in wars begun by other member states.

Section III
No member state may go to war with another member state unless called on to do so by the organization's Security Council.

Section IV
When called on by the organization's Security Council, all member nations are to participate in war, both economically and militarily, until the goals outlined by the Security Council have been met.

Article IV Concerning the Sovereignty of Nations

Section I
All member states, by becoming members, agree to respect and voice support of the sovereign rights of ablations. Sovereignty is to be defined as the authority of a state to govern itself. The use of economic and military means, for the express purpose of affecting the policy of another nation, constitutes a remarkable violation of that nation's sovereignty.

Section II
Any member state violating the sovereignty of another nation shall be instructed to provide suitable justification for such violations to a court of two representatives from all uninvolved member states. Upon provision suitable justification, it will be in the power of this court to determine, by two thirds majority vote, whether these violations are to be subject to disciplinary actions.

Section III
Disciplinary actions for violations of a nation's sovereignty are to be determined for each separate offense by five national leaders selected by the aforementioned court.

Article V Concerning Membership Requirements

Section I
The following are to be required of all nations applying for membership with this organization:
1. A nation must accept the previous articles in this organization's constitution;
2. A nation must have the rights outlined in Article II;
3. A nation must not have an outstanding debt;
4. A nation must not currently be at war with any member state
5. A nation must apply for membership with the organization;
6. A nation must await the determination of the Membership Court, which is to be described in Section II.

Section II
A Membership Court is to comprised of two representatives from all member nations. The representatives forming the Membership Court are to be replaced every two years.

Section III
Any nation may apply for membership to the organization once every six months, should they meet all other requirements.

Article VI Concerning the Security Council

Section I
A Security Council is to be established upon reaching five member states and is to be comprised of five representatives from each member nation, who are to be replaced at the discretion of the nation they represent. The purpose of this Security Council will be to determine international threats to the members of the organization and the organization itself. The Security Council will have power to declare a state of emergency in member nations as well as power to declare war on non-member nations. Should the Security Council be called on, by a court as outlined in Article IV, it will have the additional and temporary power to declare war on a member nation. No war may be declared, on behalf of the organization, without a four fifths majority vote by the Security Council and no state of emergency may be declared for a member nation without first having a request from the nation in question to do so.

Confederal Military Questions Calvan Space Debris, Establishes Further Actions Against Illegal Fishing

Two days ago, the Calvan Times reported on space debris that had crashed within that nation and caused multiple casualties. In an incredibly rare event, two towns encountered precipitation that included parts of discarded space junk that had apparently broke orbit around the planet. While the report focused mainly on the standard space debris that had fallen on the two towns, one particular section of the report gained the attention of the Confederal Air Force. This section had stated that the town of Zargos had been struck by "what is believed to be part of a old nuclear missile...," which had marked an "interesting portion" of the report according to CAF Major Tetsuo Kashimo, member of the Confederal Air Force Aerospace Commission. Major Kashimo has begun an investigation into the presence, or former presence, of nuclear weapons in orbit around the planet and has requested the cooperation with major Western powers to uncover possible illegal weapon deployments within orbit. "It is highly suspicious for there to be 'parts' of nuclear missiles in orbit, and if the Calvan military has been stationing these weapons within orbit this will result in further sanctions by the Confederacy and possibly other world powers. This would be compounded with the repercussions of an illegal nuclear program being conducted by the Calvan military, as Calva is not currently a member of the group of nations that currently possess nuclear weaponry." Currently the Confederal Cabinet has begun preparations for official sanctions against the Calvan nation, and has prepared the Confederal Armed Forces for possible hostile actions by Calva.

In other news, the Confederal Navy has outlined a new plan of action against illegal fishing in Kuoi waters. An increasing problem, illegal fishing has depleted many vital ecosystems due to the nature of the techniques employed by these fishing crews - unregulated net sizes, unregulated large fleets, and other methods. This new plan has been described to include the adoption of "volunteer squadrons," which would patrol local waters to deter the illegal fishing vessels as well as keep watch on the integrity of vulnerable ecosystems. In addition to this, vessels will be seized by the Confederal Navy that are deemed to be in violation of Kuoi law. This plan is set to take effect tomorrow, with the signing of the bill by the Confederal President.

Ophioneus Tests Hypersonic Missile

Jamestown Ophioneus has tested a new hypersonic anti-ship missile that can travel at 1.7 miles per second. The missile, known as Zeus, will attack ships at sea and also target land based weapons systems. It is currently unstoppable by modern air defenses. Sources not wishing to be named told the Journal that Zeus has been tested five times, with the last test being completed on January 13th. The test had a top speed of mach 8, or about eight times the speed of sound. The latest test proved that Ophioneus could maintain the flight at such a high speed, a difficult task to do in the world of hypersonic flight. Sources also told the journal that the weapon's role is being diversified.

According to other news sources the Zeus is designed to launch from vertical launch silos on a variety of Ophioneus ships. The weapon platform will be deploy able on a new class of Yase submarines. With the Zeus being rumored to be nuclear capable, their is a fear that such a fast and unstoppable weapon would make a de-capitation strike a more likely approach during increased nuclear tensions with foreign powers.

Due to the speed of the missile and its expected flight path, no countries currently have interceptors to shoot down the missile. Given its speed, the cruise missile would not have to carry a warhead, and could instead depend on its kinetic energy and mass to provide a damaging blow.
