The 2038 Darmeni Cricket Season started with the two Darmeni participants in the Champions League Twenty20 making deep runs. Both Maidenhead (now playing as Chad City) and Super-Mare (now playing as Vogler City) advanced to the Quarterfinals, where they were drawn against each other in an all-Darmeni battle. Super-Mare emerged victorious by ten runs, and would continue onto the Final of the competition. There, they would lose to Linville, of Lisander, as their competitors chased down a first innings total of 140 in 17 overs, with 5 wickets remaining.

The List A Trophy, finally contested under the 40 over, eight balls per over format that had been originally planned for the 2037 season, was won by Hendricks City Cricket Club. The First-Class Trophy followed, and was won by Tim City Cricket Club. Finally, the 18 team T20 Blast commenced. Bloomer Cricket Club, who had finished as runners-up in the First-Class Trophy, emerged victorious over Chad City Cricket Club.

"Cricket. Cricket never changes."
With that line, a somewhat upset Jenson McStereotaipe announced the return of cricket in the Hinodejin Empire with another season that mostly went without people caring for pretty obvious reasons. The league has ten teams, although none of them are really like the teams that took the mostly empty venues two years ago.

BREEZE OF HANSHIMA
Hometown: Hanshima, Kanteshima
Colors: Blue and White

Formed by fisherman that got a taste of the sport, the Breeze is the sole team to actively play at Hanshima per se as any other professional team on the small islands that form Hanshima have to play at the Floating Stadium built by the Hinodejin authorities for events.

HIRANEMU ENGINES
Hometown: Hirasuki, Hiranemu
Colors: Grey, Black, Purple and Red

A team consisting solely of cyborgs and androids, formed as a past-time to these creations after days of labor. Should be a pretty good team once we find out where we placed that Amstrad Cricket game copy the Prince bought once.

KORANIKANE ELEPHANTS
Hometown: Suki, Koranikane
Colors: Gold and Blue

Established by the Hinodejin Authorities in agreement with locals interested in a more... exquisite sport than the usual football and hockey. Players are actually youth from juvenile help programs.

MINAGAMI REDS
Hometown: Minagami, Tsagominagami
Colors: Red, Green and White

Several big cities of the Hinodejin Empire don't really have professional teams. Minagami, wanting to be in the top tier of pretty much anything, bought their way into the league via acquiring players that were left out from Sakurahana United's squad.

SAKURAHANA UNITED CC
Hometown: Koneshi, Sakurahana
Colors: Maroon and White

The fusion of eleven teams from last season (Saishoshiro, Dabi, Hatomura, Kyoso-Zensho, Kurogoben, Kodoryo, Notigamusha, Konishima, Hakucho-Umi, Fenitori and Shinusu) in a nefarious plot to dominate the Empire's cricket scene. Not exactly the hardest of challenges, to be fair.

SEVEN SEAS BRETHREN
Hometown: Maku, Mikashu
Colors: Black, Gold and White

In the past, independent pirates under the name of the Brethren Court made a living out of terrorizing the peoples from the Old Continent. Nowadays, this pack of reformed pirates turned to organizing sports teams at the city of Maku, where their sole survivor, Mistress Ching, still lives at.

TETSUO KENSINGTONIANS
Hometown: Tetsuo, Kanteshima
Colors: Blue, Red and Gold

A club formed by Kanteshimans who found the sport of cricket rather enticing, they're notorious for being supported by the former court of a nation that has since being taken down by the Hinodejin Empire. Apparently, their venue is actually built on top of the ruins of a former palace, something rather normal at the Isle of Kanteshima.

THE BROTHERS CC
Hometown: Saitama, Ando
Colors: Orange, Black and Red

Deemed a sibling team to Shaolin Saitama (of KiHi-LEAGUE fame), the Brothers are the first Shaolin monk only cricket team in the Empire. Not that it makes them any good, though.

THE GOBLINS CC
Hometown: Koronee, Maraka
Colors: Teal, Orange

The league's sole Goblin team, formed by a bunch of girls that apparently weren't picked up for any sport. They might end up wasting too much time being flirtatious over... well, playing the actual game.

THE MANEATERS CC
Hometown: Kurasushima, Indoshima
Colors: Orange and Blue

Visiting Kurasushima and got nothing better to do? Well, it is a very tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, but why don't you show up at the City's Oval for a game of cricket? We swear the nickname is just a nickname.

Access List

Procedural Notes:
  • The late entries of Eastfield Lodge (EFL) were accepted.
  • Although Lisander and Alice Bay (LIS/ALB) did not submit entries into this edition of the Champions' League Twenty20, Linville, the previous CLT20 champion, was entered into the non-champions' path.
  • The entries of Hudson Islands (HUD) and Greater Toyland and Mordovia (GTM) were rejected, as both nations ceased to exist. Additionally, Greater Toyland and Mordovia's entries were rejected, because the teams did not qualify on sporting merit.
  • The entries of Northwest Kalactin (NWK) were rejected, because an invalid score sheet was received by the BCCD for at least one (1) match.
  • Seeding on this Access List was determined by:
    1. Association placing in the previous CLT20; then
    2. Frequency of participation (i.e., submitting entrants) in the CLT20 as a user.

(If style is a factor then Vernon Vile uses a style rating of 5 while Sonion City Slugs uses a style rating of 2.5. Also, points in the SPCL is just the number of wins a team has as a win is worth 1 point while draws and losses are worth nothing.)

Champions' League Twenty20
The season began, as it usually does, with the Champions' League Twenty20, this season marking its seventh edition. Chad City CC and Bloomer CC represented Darmen following their brilliant performances in the 2038 T20 Blast to round out the season. Bloomer CC put in a respectable showing in the CLT20, finishing in a three way tie for seventh place out of ten teams with a record of four wins and five losses. Chad City CC had a much better group stage record, finishing fourth with six wins and four losses, and advancing into the knockouts.

In the Quarterfinals, Chad City limited Fortune T20 of Qasden to only 93 runs, chasing down that total in just 13.3 overs with an Ionathan Odell maximum sealing the victory. Chad City would continue their dominance in the knockouts, taking all ten Waridi Wickets (TUR) wickets in 15.3 overs, and needed just 12.5 overs to chase down the 129 required for victory. Eastfield Lodge's Imperial Commonwealth T20 Championship champions, Farond, put an end to any hopes of a Darmeni team claiming victory in this season's edition of the CLT20, scoring 138 runs in their innings at a loss of only three wickets. Chad City, although coming close with 131 runs and eight wickets lost, ultimately fell short in their chase, and went home from Damukuni as the second best team in the multiverse.

List A Trophy
37 teams and a new format led to some exciting, and not so exciting, cricket being exhibited in the List A Trophy. Once again the competition was played with innings consisting of 40 overs of eight balls each; such a match format may be nearing its end as the DCB is rumored to be considering aligning the List A Trophy matches with the international standards for One Day Internationals.

Only three teams were able to score 300 or more runs in an innings, as the season was marked by low run rates and excellent bowling. Johnho CC's 314/9 was the highest scoring List A innings of the season, and only Liverpool CC and Huntington CC were able to come close to matching Johnho. Bowling however was by far the most prominent factor of the season, as none of those teams mentioned made the playoffs. Cialis CC, entering the playoffs from the Intermediate Group, scored an upset over Saint-Louis CC, and was the only non-Elite club to advance to the Semifinals. 35 wickets fell on that Semifinal Thursday, and a poor pitch in Romanopolis saw only 244 combined runs scored. Romanopolis CC and Springfield CC were victorious however, and advanced to the final, to be played just two days later in Romanopolis. Working over time on the pitch, the Romanopolis grounds crew were able to get the pitch quality improved. Springfield batted first after winning the toss, scoring 216 for eight, but were surprised as the pitch held up reasonably well and Romanopolis chased down their total in 37.1 overs. Wicket-keeper Justin Beckett scored the winning runs, as Romanopolis finished with 218 runs for six wickets lost and claimed their first List A championship.

First-Class Trophy
Romanopolis' innings of 707/5 declared in Week 2 against Bloomer CC looked as though it could have continued forever, but the club would go on to the end the season with a record of only one victory and four draws, finishing seventh in the Elite Group South. Two other teams had innings where more than 700 runs were scored: Brham CC scored 716 against Augusta CC, and Bledia Arba CC declared after scoring 738/7 against Brady City CC.

Cosmopolitans finished atop the Elite Group North table with 29 points, but were outdone by Johnho CC in the South who finished with 32. Upper Township CC was the only club to finish the season undefeated, but did so against the much weaker competition in the Minor Group. Upper Township put any argument that they weren't actually a good team to shame by defeating Johnho in the Quarterfinals, as Johnho fell 101 runs short in their chase after collapsing against Upper Township's bowling. Menomonie CC, who finished second in the Intermediate Group behind Brady City, were also able to pull off the upset over Cosmopolitans, winning by two wickets. Kingswood CC advanced over Brady City, while Vogler City's 548 all out in the first innings against Springfield CC saw them through to the Semifinals after the match ended in a draw.

Kingswood and Vogler City, representing the Elite Group, both took care of their opponents from the lesser groups: Kingswood scored 469/8 before declaring to open the match, then held Upper Township to only 77 runs from 32 overs and enforced the follow-on to easily secure victory; while Vogler City needed only 19 overs in their second innings to chase down Menomonie's total of 290 runs.

With perhaps just a tad more effort than their semifinal match, Kingswood once again dominated as they faced Vogler City in the final. They ultimately won by nine wickets, scoring 58 for one in only 19.5 overs in the second innings to finish the match and claim their first First-Class Trophy title.

Eau No!
While there were certainly other teams who struggled throughout the First-Class Trophy, the eight matches played by Eau Claire CC set the bar for just how bad a season can be. All but one of Eau Claire's fifteen innings as the batting side ended without the team being all out, the only exception being the 363 for 9 innings against Sterling City CC which gave the club its only victory of the season. A third of Eau Claire's innings concluded with the team failing to combine to score a century. In only three innings did the club score more than 200 runs, two of those occurring in the drawn match against Hendricks City.

If there's one bright spot to be found surrounding the team's worst innings of the season - scoring only 25 runs and being bowled out all in the space of 44 deliveries - it's that the team was able to come back to win that match. Having been relegated from the Elite North Group to the Intermediate Group, hopefully Eau Claire can find its footing in the lower level and put in some more respectable batting performances.

Also, if you're looking for horror innings from other teams look no further than Saint-Louis CC's massive 287 run defeat to Brady City CC in Week 7, where Saint-Louis had innings of 23 all out in 8.2 overs and 65 all out in 19.1 overs!

T10 League
An entirely brand new format of cricket, which the DCB will use as a pathway for the lesser teams to earn their way into T20 competition. Six teams made their way to the Lime Tree Ground in Chuckio, where the Southwest combination team (Augusta CC & Chuckio CC) as well as Sterling City CC qualified to the T20 Blast.

T20 Blast
Having qualified through the T10 League, Southwest and Sterling City proved from the get go that they were more than capable of holding their own in the T20 Blast. Southwest finished second in the South Division, well behind the Bloomer Knight Riders but also tied with the two other qualifiers from the South Division: Romanopolis CC and Central East (Menomonie & Pisuvar). In the North Division Sterling City finished third; tied with Tilden CC but just behind divisional leaders Zebras (Hendricks City & Tim City). Also qualifying to the Quarterfinals from the North Division was Tempala CC, who finished ahead of Chad City after winning both of the matchups during the divisional stage.

The Knight Riders were the best team during the divisional stage, winning ten of their fourteen matches while also finishing one of their games in a tie, but were humbled in the Quarterfinals by Tempala. Although Tempala's bowlers only took two wickets, they bowled superb economical cricket and kept the Knight Riders far away from reaching their target of 170 runs. The Zebras vs. Central East quarterfinal went down to the last ball, with a scoop shot by Winston van der Zee was stopped short of the boundary by the fielder at long leg, but not before van der Zee and his teammate had crossed for two. In the other two matches, Romanopolis and Sterling City won their matches with ease.

Sterling City's Cinderella run came to an end against Zebras, who needed only 14 and a half overs to chase down their target and win in convincing fashion. Also winning in convincing fashion were Tempala, who needed only 12.5 overs to send Romanopolis home after Romanopolis produced only 97 runs from their innings. The final saw Tempala bat first on the road at the Municipal Cricket Ground in Hendricks City. After making only 126 runs for the loss of six wickets, the home team Zebras looked confident in their ability to execute the chase. 93 deliveries later they did just that, as once again Winston van der Zee came up with the winning runs (this time his hit crossed the boundary for four) and the Zebras took home the title. van der Zee certainly made a name for himself during the playoff stage of the T20 Blast, and the 23 year old should warrant consideration for a spot in the national team come time for the next World T20 Championships.

"Cricket. Cricket never changes."
A new season of cricket has arrived at the Hinodejin Empire. Things have reached the level of unorthodox that only Hinodejin cricket can get. The sort of thing that would happen in a country where pretty much nobody knows the rules of the game. This season sees two teams joining the regular ten from last season.

BREEZE OF HANSHIMA
Hometown: Hanshima, Kanteshima
Colors: Blue and White

Formed by fisherman that got a taste of the sport, the Breeze is the sole team to actively play at Hanshima per se as any other professional team on the small islands that form Hanshima have to play at the Floating Stadium built by the Hinodejin authorities for events.

HIRANEMU ENGINES
Hometown: Hirasuki, Hiranemu
Colours: Grey, Black, Purple and Red

A team consisting solely of cyborgs and androids, formed as a past-time to these creations after days of labour. Should be a pretty good team once we find out where we placed that Amstrad Cricket game copy the Prince bought once.

KORANIKANE ELEPHANTS
Hometown: Suki, Koranikane
Colours: Gold and Blue

Established by the Hinodejin Authorities in agreement with locals interested in a more... exquisite sport than the usual football and hockey. Players are actually youth from juvenile help programs.

MINAGAMI REDS
Hometown: Minagami, Tsagominagami
Colours: Red, Green and White

Several big cities of the Hinodejin Empire don't really have professional teams. Minagami, wanting to be in the top tier of pretty much anything, bought their way into the league via acquiring players that were left out from Sakurahana United's squad.

MISEI CITY TOURIST TRAPPERS
Hometown: Misei City, Misei
Colours: Purple and White

Only another effort by Misei City to reach its goal of becoming the ultimate tourist trap of the Hinodejin Empire, a proper gateway that the Empire deserves. The team has mostly employed cricket players from lands that no longer exist, given how... well, Hinodejin cricket players suck.

SAKURAHANA UNITED CC
Hometown: Koneshi, Sakurahana
Colors: Maroon and White

The fusion of eleven teams from the first season of Hinodejin cricket (Saishoshiro, Dabi, Hatomura, Kyoso-Zensho, Kurogoben, Kodoryo, Notigamusha, Konishima, Hakucho-Umi, Fenitori and Shinusu) in a nefarious plot to dominate the Empire's cricket scene.

Nowadays, this pack of reformed pirates turned to organize sports teams at the city of Maku, where their sole survivor, Mistress Ching, still lives at.

TETSUO KENSINGTONIANS
Hometown: Tetsuo, Kanteshima
Colours: Blue, Red and Gold

A club formed by Kanteshimans who found the sport of cricket rather enticing, they're notorious for being supported by the former court of a nation that has since being taken down by the Hinodejin Empire. Apparently, their venue is actually built on top of the ruins of a former palace, something rather normal at the Isle of Kanteshima.

THE BROTHERS CC
Hometown: Saitama, Ando
Colours: Orange, Black and Red

Formerly a sibling team to Shaolin Saitama (of KiHi-LEAGUE fame), the Brothers are the first Shaolin monk only cricket team in the Empire, not to mention the sole sports team at any top tier of Hinodejin sports to be based after monks.

THE KICKERS CC
Hometown: Sakyen, Minakoku
Colours: White, Black, Blue, Red

Formed by students of Tae Kwon Do's "Indomitable Spirit" Master Baek Doo San, Their roster is, indeed, a ragtag of former misfits that have since taken into the martial art to get themselves out of trouble. They don't really understand the sport, playing using their legs to both launching and hitting the ball.

THE MANEATERS CC
Hometown: Kurasushima, Indoshima
Colours: Orange and Blue

Visiting Kurasushima and got nothing better to do? Well, it is a very tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, but why don't you show up at the City's Oval for a game of cricket? We swear the nickname is just a nickname.
