The disastrous exit from the European union in 2019 was one of the worst blows to the British economy since the financial crisis of 2007-2008. The Brexit agreement was a bi-partisan effort from both the Labour and conservative parties and once the British public realised the extent of damage that had been done to their nation both parties received a serious blow to their image in the eyes of the pubic, both this and the economic crisis has led to a number of new and more radical parties to the forefront of British politics. The two most popular of these parties are the British Nationalist party who have managed to turn the anger and resentment of an economic crisis against Europe while on the other side of the spectrum is the British technocratic party who represent a new ideology in this era and vow to make the United Kingdom the centre of the world's technological advances once more. The current Prime minister is the immensely unpopular John Parsons who when he first ran for PM seemed like the saviour of the conservative party but his attempts to delay the Scottish referendum and his failed attempts to repair the economy have alienated him from the public. Now a snap election seems almost inevitable and the people will have to choose if Britain shall follow an enlightened path of technology and discovery or will it descend into authoritarianism and nationalism.

Now a snap election seems almost inevitable and the people will have to choose if Britain shall follow an enlightened path of technology and discovery or will it descend into authoritarianism and nationalism.
Or at least that’s how it seemed at the eve of 2024. After John Parsons’ less than stellar attempts to patch up the UK’s populace or contain the growing Russian threat, the Conservative party continued to lose power and support as well as eventually leading the country into an undeniable stagnation. With little decisive action since the Aron McMahon incident, tensions and discontent continued to rise within the populace leading more and more into the new radical parties and away from the previous norms. Taking advantage of this trend, was one outspoken ex-naval engineer turned politician by the name of Warren Mclanahan.
Rather than stoke anger or throw blame towards his potential opponents, Warren showed a fierce level of contagious determination and near unmatched charisma as he spoke about re-developing the United Kingdom into a global power and patching previous errors. Being born and raised in Glasgow, many within the technocratic party saw the upstart politician as an opportunity to bridge the growing divide between Scotland and England, placing him as party leader less than a month before McMahon’s untimely death. From there, Warren led a campaign promising internal change and compromise coupled with a stronger, more firm set of foreign policies even hinting towards holding a reverse ‘Brexit’ referendum early into his debut. When later questioned more directly on this, he went on to confirm the rumours and hold several discussions over the benefits and downfalls of the EU but also the undeniable and highly visible consequences of a rushed exit. While this did lead to a loss in support of the pro-isolationist groups, the recent misgivings and impacts of Brexit seemed to outweigh the concerns and ultimately further raised Warren’s platform.
By the time of the 2027 House of Commons vote, the technocratic party had surprised the world and become a significant contender for the next leader of the UK, with large newfound support bases from scots, nationalists, reverse-brexiteers and a large number of unsatisfied ex-conservative party groups all moving to their side. When the vote was cast and counted, the young party was able to earn nearly 40% before being tipped over the edge with a wave of support via preferential voting from a significant majority of the non-labour votes. Now in power, Warren promises to strengthen the economy, hold a referendum on partial re-integration with the EU and take a much more active stance with their foreign agendas while ensuring the nation will not be left behind in technology. In recent talks, Warren has further gone on to support the previous government’s additional funding to the EU joint space program and recent military expansions and has stated that he would be against any future cuts to the sectors.
OOC- Hullo everyone, I got recommended this RP and just about instantly fell in love with the premise. Anyways, I saw that the UK was free and thought I would try writing an app and jumping in. Though since it was previously played by another nation, I included their history with a brief addition of what likely would've been happening since then along with the new leader's rise to power. That said, the leader is a member of the RPers new technocratic party so I'm not sure how that would play into things but I'm willing to change that if its a game breaker. Also, I'm still picture hunting XP

YYUP! Last Turkish player had it descend into Civil War. So there are three factions. There is the Turkish Government/Republic of Turkey, the Free Turkish Army, and the Kurdish separatists!
P.S Erdogan is still President of Turkey

The Free Turkish Army is led by General Akar, He sorta controls Western and Eastern Turkey. Both the Government and the FTA have a very good chance of winning, so far it has stayed a stalemate.
