I bought the game mainly just for if I have people round, but unlocking all the characters is driving me somewhat loopy.
Also the opening cutscene to the campaign mode made me really optimistic, thinking it'd be another one like Brawl which I loved, but instead it just feels like an in turn dull or annoying standard fighting game slogfest.
Once I've finally unlocked everyone and had a go at some local multiplayer I'm sure I'll love this game, but right now I have to force myself to play it.

My main main is Ness, and my other mains include Zelda, ROB, Mii, Pac Man, Mewtwo, and Robin.
Also, how do you all feel about Pirahna Plant? That was just a bizarre choice on Nintendo’s part imo.

That's rough, buddy. I know me and my older brother (who was visiting from out of state for a couple days) had an absolute blast playing the game together, just like we had played every previous game in the series together (we've both been playing since 64 days). Now that he's gone, I broke down and purchased the accursed Nintendo online just to play with randoms on the internet.
I haven't even touched the campaign yet, so no spoilers, please.Xmara wrote:I plan on getting it ASAP.

Pirahna Plant, I think, was an interesting choice, but not one I'm really happy about because I feel that there were much better options. Either way, I bet Sakurai will make him into a fun character somehow.

As the old sayin' goes, nothing brings people together like beating the tar out of each other.
Basically. Mario Kart 8 got a friend through her doctoral thesis. She'd come over to work on it, and we'd take sanity breaks, play like 5 races, cuss one another out over blue shells and banana peels, and then she'd get back to work. Had Smash been available at the time, I'm sure we'd be cussing one another out of smash balls and hammers. Been playing it with my sister, bringing back all the best nostalgia feels. Even when I'm calling her a cheap bitch and she's calling me a cheesy asshole over... well, smash balls and hammers!

All I do is play Link and get beaten up in dracula’s Castle stage while absolutely EPIC Castlevania music plays !

Sounds like a good time to me.
I like Castlevania a lot.
It makes sad though that Alucard/Dracula isn't in the game. THAT WOULD BE SO COOL!
I mean, I don't know... the Belmonts' playstyle doesn't really suit me. I know the whips have range but they feel kind of clunky. I can imagine an Alucard swordsman style of play looks more like a Link play style.
Is Link considered a beginner character?

As far as I know, anyone can be a "beginner character," though Link's iconic status probably makes him a prime choice for most new players.
I actually really love the way the Belmonts play, though I can understand why they are not for everyone. Alucard would be pretty cool as a PC, though he would probably have to be portrayed a bit unfaithfully in order to prevent him from being OP (he's already ridiculous as an Assist Trophy). While Dracula would be cool too, I think his inclusion as a boss character is satisfactory for now.

From what I understand, Square Enix has been rather protective of their franchises of late and (supposedly) charged Nintendo an exorbitant amount of money to include Cloud, a single stage, and 2 pieces of music in the game. In short, he probably cost a tad too much.
