It could, definitely, but you'd need the organized military force to be hilariously incompetent and/or a strong terrain advantage. Preferably both; if they're incompetent, but you're barely armed with sticks and stones, they can still pull out a victory by just having better weapons; if they're competent, but the terrain is disadvantageous for them (such as a jungle or a swamp), well, there's ways around that which guerrilla warfare can't effectively counter, primarily napalm and really big bombs. This goes double if you have little to no outside support.

What will happen to that hypothetical strong authoritarian state after it crushes those big companies, etc.? Will it just go away? Unlikely. One problem will simply be replaced with another one.
