Dr. Martin Lee, a neurosurgeon, won the mayoral elections in Aurora City against lawyer Freddie Marquez. Lee had 64.9% of the vote, the highest ever in Aurora City. Lee is 46 years old and works in Aurora City General Hospital. When former mayor Jess Fernandez committed suicide, Lee immediately entered his name in the elections. He promised the people that change will come if he was elected. Aurora City houses more than 200,000 Terudelians living in slums, almost half of the city's population. Lee told the people that they can look forward to better housing and better living standards.
He also promised a more affordable healthcare for the people in the city. He has no prior experience in politics and when asked whether or not he will be able to handle the pressure, he said, "Definitely, there is pressure. The people entrusted me with this position and I shall perform my duty to the best of my ability."
Premier Redrich congratulated Dr. Lee in a tweet earlier today. Redrich stated that he looks forward to seeing the 'progress that Aurora City will make under Dr. Lee's leadership'. Dr. Lee is keen in making Aurora City the medical city of Terudel, an idea that Premier Redrich is supportive of. Dr. Lee's term as mayor will last for 3 years and he will be able to run for another term at the end of the 3 years.
