I'm just afraid to put myself out there and meet new people, which is hampering me. It'd be nice if one of my friends I've known for years were gay and just wanted to start dating at this point. Last guy I dated I knew for a year before we started dating.

Gay men must have it particularly hard, 'cause outside of thirsty fuckboys, finding men without playing a game of "Is he straight or is he gay?" is fucking insanity-inducing.

I mean, I'd personally prefer it compared to having to always put oneself out there only to face countless rejections, and even if you do get anything, then you have to follow gender roles and norms.

You are never to approach a women, start a conversation with a women, or even look in her general direction. They're living their own damn lives and they don't want to be bothered by thirsty dudes wanting to date them or even talk to them.

Well if you're still in school, meeting someone in your classes or organizations is always good. Practically all of the people I've gone out with I met either through my theater org or we were in a class together.
