Powers:
  • Zmey: The basis of Danica's powers actually originate from a magically-gifted necklace named "Zmey". Capable of enabling the user to perform superhuman feats, "Zmey" summons the power of Russian bogatyr - knights - of legend. The list of powers "Zmey" gives her is listed below.
    • Verbal Summoning: By saying its name and calling out to it, Danica can summon the shield, greatsword, spear, and suit of armor. They will immediately "equip" themselves onto her.
    • Super-strength: Danica becomes very strong when wielding Zmey. She is able to lift and press about 20 tonnes.
    • Enhanced reflexes: Fairly self explanatory, but she is able to move and strike rapidly, as well as defend against supersonic attacks.
    • Enhanced speed: This moreso relates to her ability to strike and shift, rather than to run. Her attacks can be, figuratively, lightning fast.
    • Protective barrier: Her armor in and of itself can resist up to .50 caliber bullets, but she is able to create and maintain a magical protective barrier about 10ft in diameter by planting her shield solidly in the ground.
    • The Freezing Edge: Her blade is able to cut through extremely tough material, including some metal. Furthermore, wounds inflicted with this blade freeze and expand.
    • Spear of Lightning: Her spear, when thrown or thrusted with enough force, will imbue itself with the power of lightning.

Drawbacks & Limitations:
  • Her primary drawback is that the powers are only present when she summons Zmey.
  • She requires an insane amount of food to maintain herself after using Zmey.
  • She is a "jack of all trades, ace of none" in terms of enhanced physical feats. She is much more powerful when combining all of her abilities than when trying to single one out.

Weaknesses:
  • Ranged combat is not exactly her forte.
  • She can be outclassed by explosions.

Personality: Danica is a bit of a mystery. She can be as cold as the Russian winters she grew up in at times, and as warm and welcoming as the fire her family always kept lit at others. Primarily, her mood is dependent on what side of the bed she woke up on given any particular morning. Despite this, she is fiercely protective of her friends and honorable to a fault. She cannot bring herself to lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do. This can lead to conflict and tension among those she does not know or considers to be less-than morally sound. She has enough courage to last her a lifetime over, which can be conceived as an over-inflated ego. Though she is not quick to fly off the handle, when she is angered she is hard to calm. She is not rash, but she fights battles - whether verbal or physical - to win them. She tends not to mince words, especially with someone she doesn't like. This can make her come off as hostile, but those who are used to her know she means no harm by any of it. End all be all, she is an individual who cares - perhaps too much - about the "righteous duty" of heroes and how they are supposed to act. Whether this will net her more friends or more enemies, only time will tell.

Bio: Born in St. Petersburg to a very "old money" family that was often tight-lipped on the subject of how specifically they acquired such wealth, Danica often found herself somewhat perplexed by her situation as a younger child. On one hand, her parents maintained the air of the elevated aristocracy. They turned their nose up at many of the poorer Russian people and catered specifically to other families that would net them advantages in the complex dynamic of Russian domestic politics. On the other hand, Danica's grandfather consistently lectured her on the Nikitich family duty of "upholding the right of the commons" and "becoming a paragon to the citizens of Russia".

Much to her parents dismay, Danica grew far closer to her grandfather than she ever did with her mother and father. Often, when her parents would attend the classic "rich people" functions, Danica's grandfather would steal her away to go on gallivanting throughout St. Petersburg, or whatever city they were staying in at the time. This led to Danica developing a connection with the downtrodden, the masses of Russia whose political and social needs were often never heard by the upper echelon of the political elite. She used the sizable inheritance she was given to give back to the people, building churches, schools, homeless shelters, wherever she could.

When Danica was sixteen, her grandfather revealed the secret of the Nikitich family lineage. They were the direct descendants of one of the most famous "Bogatyr" - Russian knights - in history: Dobrynyna Nikitich. A hero in his own right in medieval times. Her grandfather discussed how Dobrynyna was gifted with a item of legend by a Grandmaster of Magic: the Zmey necklace. It empowered him perform incredible feats of strength and skill through its own magical potency. He told Danica that the Nikitich family was, however, doomed. It was only once every one hundred years that someone worthy enough to harness the power of Zmey would be born into the family. It was with this that he gave her the necklace he had been keeping. He told her he was not worthy to wield it, as he had shown cowardice in his days by fleeing Russia during the Second World War to avoid conscription. His parents were consumed with avarice and greed. But the necklace had chosen Danica.

Almost immediately upon passing on the necklace, Danica's grandfather fell ill. He passed away not a month later, and Danica almost immediately fled the clutches of her mother and father. Taking her money with her, she used her connections to forge a new identity for herself in America, buying a plot of land in Massachusetts and attempting to hone her skills of combat. When she was actually eighteen, she attended Boston University to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Studies. After that, and after several informants told the Professors of the William J. Nantz Institute who the Zmey Necklace was in the hands of, she was asked to attend.

Since then, she has shown herself to be one of the more capable students within the Institute, consistently being asked to run missions with the Union of Russian Heroes since the end of her first year, despite what handicaps she may have.

Standing at 6'2" and 125 pounds, Nicholas is a slightly-awkward teenaged version of the "tall, dark, and handsome" trope, or at the least aspires to be. He's certainly got the tall-and-dark bit down. He has a diamond-shaped face with delicate features, large brown eyes, high cheeks and a long, thin nose that comes to a point. His thick, wavy ebony hair—which he blow-dries straight, mind you—is parted messily at the side, coming down to his sharp cheekbones. His pale olive skin stretches tight over a bony frame with little muscle or fat to speak of. He prefers to stay clean shaven, although if under a lot of stress he'll often let it go several days before a shave. Nick is normally described as above-average in attractiveness, but not to the level where people stare at him in the street; perhaps a 7 or 8 out of 10. He compensates for his thinness by wearing multiple layers; he's most often found wearing his favorite outfit: a well-fitted black leather jacket over a long-sleeve black half-button shirt with a white t-shirt underneath. A pair of ripped black drainpipe jeans with some decorative ribbing and extra pockets protect his legs from the elements. His trusty black Chelsea boots and a pair of aviators round out the look. If it's cold out he'll wear a pair of black leather gloves and a faded black denim jacket between his leathers and the half-button.

Powers:
Claircognizant Retro/Postcognition. His power supplies him an unending stream of highly accurate observations: a helpful voice in the back of his head telling him basically anything about anything, anytime he wants. High stress increases the volume of information, so in combat, it's like a helpful AI engine guiding his motions, helping predict what his opponent will do by analyzing every past move they've made in combat and assisting him with technique through replicating moves by the historical greats. As an added benefit to his power, his memory is near impeccable for things he learns "manually," i.e. without the use of his power. However, memories formed by the use of his power are more difficult to recall after a short while. He's a better "immediate" power user rather than a longer-term superhuman. He can use his omniligence to recall any and all written or documented information throughout all of history, as well as see from other people's perspectives using his retrocognition. His power affords him 360-degree perspective, allowing the division of his focus in every direction at once. All of his senses are at near-peak human strength and are supplemented by information from his power. He sees measurements and bits of information almost as if they were in the air around everything surrounding him, providing him with economy of motion and extremely accurate depth perception. Information Alteration. In the heat of battle, an aura of raw power, manifesting itself in the form of information alteration, surrounds him upon his summoning. Depending on the situation, the aura can reach up to fifteen feet in every direction and affects everything in the field's perceptibility to others. The effect is enhanced by proximity and of course, physical contact. This allows him to affect a version of invisibility upon himself (or others of his choosing) to those within his area of effect, making him a devastating melee combatant. On the reverse side of this, overwhelming a person's senses by vastly increasing the availability of information in the target area can be used to devastating effect, especially after sensory deprivation. There are no limits to how many people it can effect beyond the area of the aura, as it effects the space within the aura itself and not the people. Additionally, Nick can fire beams of information alteration that, upon contact with an object or person, will surround it and create a 2-foot-radius of information separation — that is, no information can enter the field while it exists.

Drawbacks and Limitations:
Claircognizant Retro/Postcognition. Of course, this isn't omniscience. There are several key qualifiers. Firstly, the simpler the subject matter is the faster he understands it. This means the difference between seconds and minutes, to even hours or days, to absorb information. If he wanted to know how to build a nuclear bomb, even under optimal circumstances it would take weeks and there would be so many holes in the information it would be practically useless; as a general rule, the more complex the topic is the difficulty and time it takes scales exponentially to the point of impossibility: restricting him from learning to create something that's yet to be conceptualized. He must also be able to connect the fact to something he's seen or read about, lending itself to many hours spent hunched over a computer screen reading about, well, everything. He has no innate physical buffs, thus despite his mental powers being practically at peak for a human, his body is only as good as a normal human's can be. Furthermore, his knowledge of people does not extend to telepathy: he's only able to see their experiences and those of people connected to them. This can result in incorrect assumptions without regard for the inner motivations of people. Furthermore, such investigation requires contact: he must be able to see a person to see their experiences, hear their voice to hear their past words, touch them to feel things they've felt, etc. The timescale of his investigations are theoretically unlimited, however the less contact a piece of information has had with multiple people/sources the less he is able to investigate it without close proximity.
Information Alteration. The aura is a conscious choice and can be taxing when used for long periods of time. People outside of the alteration field do not suffer the effects, so this only works on those he is within 15 feet of. Additionally, this field of alteration does not affect the senses of those it interacts with, more rather it modifies how much information can reach them — almost like cloaking an area in darkness, fog or haze. The effect is indiscriminate, as it does not target individuals and effects the area itself. Darkness is the most common variant of his most common use: information denial, hence the name Hades. This power can be overridden by those who are able to modulate their own senses or can be operated from outside the area. The beam counterpart's affected target must be within Nick's periphery in order to remain in effect and must be "fed" or information will begin to bleed in after a few minutes.

Weaknesses: Like it or not, Nick is a shrimp. He is physically rather frail, and while fast and tall, does not have any muscular strength to speak of. Additionally, his powers render him a poor long-range physical combatant, although his postcognitive range is practically unlimited.

Equipment and weapons: A blacksteel neurotoxin-coated bident around 8 feet long with a rapier hidden in the base and a concussive blast generator in the bidens crafted by Arsenal; a Glock 17 pistol, a 25-year-old Yamaha upright piano, an expanded Swiss army knife.

Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, FL / Long Island City, Queens, NY

Personality: ENTP 8w9, a classic Byronic and guile hero. On the surface, Nick is all charisma. Raised by an insurance salesman father and Brooklyn-born stockbroker mother, he was born to be a negotiator. A good thing too, as his intelligence (and power) has allowed him to pick up pretty much any mental skill he wants over the years. He's an extremely eloquent, fast-talking snarker that gets by largely on force of personality alone. He's quick-witted and clever; he always has a quip handy and a smile is never far from his lips. Although quite perceptive, and very attuned to the feelings and emotional state of his fellows, due to his upbringing he himself is terrified of being emotionally vulnerable. One might even think he built up his persona specifically to hide those very insecurities. He prefers to maintain a larger-than-life persona to those outside his inner circle, replete with oft-ridiculous asides and comedic pop-culture references. In this respect, he often likens himself to the principal character of the TV show Psych, Shawn Spencer (especially considering the nature of his power), as well as Chris Knight from Real Genius. His ironic and sarcastic humor cover up deep internal trauma related to the fact that he wasn't able to save his mother's life. The flipside of this amiable, humorous public persona is semi-frequent bouts of severe depression, during which he withdraws himself or becomes laconic, serious, and melancholy. His humor becomes more bitter and his comments more biting. Personally, he values competence and integrity above all else, with intellect as a close third. His worldview is highly cynical bordering on pessimistic, and he is normally suspicious of the motivations of others. Can often be found playing piano, as he has been since age 6; he writes his own music as well as playing the traditional classical repertoire. When he's not expanding his vast knowledge base, he can be found training with his dual-wielded sabers, which are his weapon of choice only because, as he says, they "look super badass."

Bio: Born in the affluent Miami suburb of Fort Lauderdale, Nick was raised by two working parents who placed an extremely high value on education. He grew up very well off, attending the most elite public schools in the area; his parents both had graduate degrees and had spent their childhoods in public education, which they placed a high value on. His powers were discovered at an early age, but due to the adroit parenting employed by both mother and father, Nick was happy to disguise the more apparent ones while using his power to score highly in school. Content with his upbringing, Nick nonetheless suffered from bouts of depression and anxiety, inherited from his mother. He excelled in school, earning respect from his teachers and shunning by his peers, and graduating high school at the tender age of 14. His mother had retired several years earlier from her job as a stockbroker to be a full-time homemaker; his father having left his high-powered executive position at a major investment bank to found his own firm and the husband-wife team struck out on their own. The move caused significant tension at home, but with the business' success, the family maintained their comfortable life. Initially, he intended to pursue a degree in history and teach that subject before going back to graduate school for another degree, that time in International Relations to work for the United Nations as a policy advisor. To serve his country. But that all changed, quite rapidly in fact, during the summer he turned 16.

It began as a small lump on his mother's lymph nodes. They both figured it was just a sinus infection, a not-unusual ailment in a family that collectively suffered from severe allergies and frequently dealt with such infections. However, soon enough, her condition worsened. By the time she visited a specialist, the cancer had spread throughout her body and she was given a 15% chance of survival. Nick's father, crushed, suffered a mental breakdown and left the family for a month, leaving Nick to pick up the pieces. Devastated that despite his powers he was unable to catch this earlier, Nick threw himself into his work and into caring for his mother. His father returned, but their previously loving relationship was replaced by icy avoidance. Although dad was able to take over some of the caretaking duties and began bringing in a stable income again, Nick was still his mother's primary caretaker, working tirelessly to find a way to mitigate the disease. Unable to save her, his mother passed after a little more than a year. It was the final straw for Nick: with nothing and no-one left to give him a reason to stay at home, he made arrangements at the conclusion of his senior year of undergrad and moved to New York. There, he survived on the goodwill of family and his skill with predicting moves in the stock market, contenting himself to be distracted from his anguish by sleeping around with girls he never even gave a chance to try and understand him. He had been on Argus' radar for some time, and not long after his move to New York, he was picked up by the Academy as their youngest-ever recruit, just 17 years old. Now in his third year, he is well-respected by peer and instructor alike, having distinguished himself on several missions and taken a place as somewhat of a protegé to Cypher.

Skills: His powers, while they do not grant him innate skills, bestow upon him the knowledge to learn most skills incredibly quickly. He is not an omniglot, but his mind is capable of translating writing instantly. He is, however, a highly skilled swordsman and marksman due to his perception abilities and he has a knack for knowing how to ask the right questions.

1. Allows the user, through the observation of the life forces of nature it self, identifies and track other Meta-humans based on their "Life forces", which by the being nature of being Heroes them selves, are rather Unique. Passive ability
2. Uncanny Accuracy - Through the powers imbued to those of the Konig Family line, they have an unnatural ability of Expert Marksmanship to an super natural level.
3. Allows the user to recognizes and track the "Left overs" (foot prints, hand prints, the like) of these Unique Signatures for a time after they are made.

This ability, while powerful, is extremely taxing in both mind and body, with the user often being fully exhausted for a user who has little experience with it (in this case, only having ever used it once in combat) Erwin will often faint shortly after. Secondly, it can only (at his currently level of mastery) be used once a day.

Due to the nature of these powers only being bestowed by a vary much so "Pagen" god, those with powers or magical abilities given and or based around any of the Abrahamic gods will feel unease and out right malice coming from him. He also cant step foot in a church...he will legitimately combust in to purple Flame. (as to why its purple is unknown)

Equipment and weapons:
Schwarze Kralle - A rifle of custom make and unknown origin, legend has it its been in the family for generations. Chambered in 8.64mm S and feeding from a 5 round internal magazine. The Rifle balances this powerful cartridge by being made of heavy forged steel and using a special modification to the venerable Mauser action, adding an oversize bolt head and extra set of locking logs forged out of titanium. The only "Modern" part of the rifle would be a x36 variable magnification scope of similarly unknown origin. Also has a double set trigger for preset shots.

Kleiner Zahn - Another Family heirloom, this big bore side arm is chambered in .454 Casull and loads 5 shots. Originally a single action revolver, in modern times she was modernized to be a SA/DA design to allow for better rate of fire.

BACKGROUND


Nationality: German
Hometown: Hintertal Technically He was born there, how ever his family, like they have for generations, is Nomadic and transitions between the Black Forest and Swiss Alps, hunting and surviving as needed.

Personality:
A dry sense of humor, sharp wit, and surprisingly good intelligence are hidden behind a vale of staunch silence (this stemming from his time as a hunter, as a loud hunter tends to scare away their dinner) and a tendency to ease drop on conversations.
He is a good person at heart, and has a good sense of honor and loyalty from his Bundiswehr years. He dislikes needled violence, and hunting with no sport.
Bio:
The Konigs go back...waaaaaaayyy back. The Family it self can trace their blood line back to the time of the Visigoth sacking of Rome. IT is said that, a being, mostly attributed to the old Norse God Odin, (or Wotan) had gifted the family the gifts of The Hunter's Sight and the Bow after their service to the Goths during the great raid. And so the family lived like many of the clans did, migrating as needed, Raiding Slavic, Frankish, and Italian Settlements as needed. As time caught up with them and technology advanced, the family retreated back in to the Black forest, were they would, through the many branches and offshoots, therouly colonize the region. It was around the 1500s when they would begin the Annual migration to the Swiss Alps, and it was their exploits there as huntsmen, trackers, and soldiers would earn them a third Gift: The Mirror Of Loki. This ability would shroud them fully from those with the ability to see in to the minds of others.


If we fast forward to the current century, the family would struggle during the second world war, suffering particularly at the hands of the Russians and forming a long lasting grudges with certain...unique Russian Blood line that goes on to this day. They would be persecuted underneath the Nazis and later the Soviets for different reasons and soon find them selves going back to the old days, living off the fat of the land and turning the Alps and Black Forest a hell for the Axis and Soviets troops. This would some at a price though. By the End of the war, only a single branch of the family would survive to see Europe Liberated. They would Continue on in to the modern times until they came to the modern day. What had changed is that those with the Gifts of the gods had all died out during this time, being killed off by the war.

Born on July 18th, 1996, Erwin was the oldest of three siblings, his younger sisters Egrit and Hanna being born as twins a year later. He would be different then his siblings or his parents, being distant and observing. He would love his family, and his sisters more so, but he always kept his eyes open and his head on a swivel.
He would first discover his gifts during his first year of service in the Bundiswehr, applying and joining to the Gebirgsjägers at a young age. During his 3rd Year of service, he would make his Abilities known to his CO, not being able to explain his Supernatural Abilities in tracking and marksmanship. HE would spend the next two year going through testing and training, with the German Government finally explaining to him that his DNA strand was...different. The Double helix strands had been modified in a way to allow for his "Gifts" to manifest. They explained that to their best of knowledge, his brain worked similarly to a ballistics Super Computer, allowing him to calculate the terminal Ballistics need to properly use the weapons he carries.

As for his Immunity to Telepathy and the summoning of the Bow of Odin it self, they simply shrugged. So, with 2 years of testing done he was declared inactive duty with the rank of Leutnant and sent with his things to a rather interesting School in America.

Nice, a chance to talk about our lore.

So we've established in AWH that the old pagan gods (I'm not touching the Abrahamic God or Hindu, etc) were actually metahumans whos powers and feats were exaggerated over time after their deaths.

So you can't really get powers from the old gods, but you can get them from interdimentional entities.

1. The effect is limited in range and effect, at around 100 meters, the User gets a basic "Hunch" in the general direction of their prey that only grows more accurate the closer the user gets.
2. The accuracy has a strange twist to it, with the use of this ability comes with a price. For each "Kill" the user makes with this ability, a Sacrifice of Blood must be payed to Wotan, either in the targets flesh or the users.
3. Bad Appearance for PR - When in use, his eyes tend to glow red...the sort of dark, blood red often accosted with evil and Demonic power.

1. This ability, while powerful, is extremely taxing in both mind and body, with the user often being fully exhausted for a user who has little experience with it (in this case, only having ever used it once in combat) Erwin will often faint shortly after. Secondly, it can only (at his currently level of mastery) be used once a day.

Weaknesses:
Honor Bound - While many will think this a strength, and it is to fault, he is bound by the agreement his ancestor made to never kill in dishonor, should he be cast from Valhalla and in to Hel in death.
Demonic Signature
Due to the nature of these powers only being bestowed by a vary much so "Pagen" god, those with powers or magical abilities given and or based around any of the Abrahamic gods will feel unease and out right malice coming from him. He also cant step foot in a church...he will legitimately combust in to purple Flame. (as to why its purple is unknown)

Equipment and weapons:
Gewer Model 98 - Forged in early 1904, it is the rifle of Erwin's father, and his Father's Father. it is in impeccable condition, is an all parts matching gun, and altogether a fine testament to German mechanical engineering. Chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser and its only modifications are a bent bolt handle and more modern Tangent leaf Sight. (both parts sourced from a later Karbineer 98K)
IWI Jericho 941 - A good, reliable 9mm Side arm used as a close Quarters Weapon. He owns a Suppressor and flashlight/laser combo.
Seitengewehr 98/05 - The Standard Issue Bayonet of the Model 98, often called "The Butcher Blade".

Hometown: Hintertal Technically He was born there, how ever his family, like they have for generations, is Nomadic and transitions between the Black Forest and Swiss Alps, hunting and surviving as needed.

Personality:
A dry sense of humor, sharp wit, and surprisingly good intelligence are hidden behind a vale of staunch silence (this stemming from his time as a hunter, as a loud hunter tends to scare away their dinner) and a tendency to ease drop on conversations.
He is a good person at heart, and has a good sense of honor and loyalty from his Bundiswehr years. He dislikes needled violence, and hunting with no sport.

While some hydrokinetics may almost always control water without any physical motion, Florence tends to accompany her hydrokinesis with hand motions, parting her hands to part waters, flicking her hands to make waves, etc. This is usually not necessary per se, but it does bolster her abilities greatly. Likewise, she can make use of hydrokinetic constructs to a degree, with her primary construct being an arm of water which mirrors her own, although she does on occasion attempt others, with her current subject of practice being flight with water, attempting to use her hydrokinesis to make wings to lift herself from the ground with.
  • Form Change: Far simpler in principle than even her hydrokinesis, Florence can shift into the form of a mutated mermaid, allowing her to breath and see easily underwater, as well as allowing her to swim much faster. This secondary power otherwise has little effect on her, and is more of a convenient partial metamorphosis than a weaponisable power that can be used in any metric other than making Florence primarily aquatic rather than terrestrial.

Drawbacks & Limitations: Florence's hydrokinesis first and foremost can only be used on liquid water, meaning not only does she have no control over the temperature of her water, but she cannot control it if it changes state. Further, her abilities to use water are affected by substances dissolved within the water, although this does not follow conventional logic. Unlike many other hydrokinetics whose abilities are affected by what's in the water, her hydrokinesis is at its peak when there are some dissolved substances in the water, making her at her best with brackish water, liquids such as tea and coffee with some dissolved plant material, etc, while her abilities with extremely clean water or saturated water are when her abilities are weaker. Naturally, her hydrokinesis also does respect conservation of mass, so places without water leave her powerless.

Weaknesses: Florence isn't physically strong, and is overall a lightweight.

Even so, she is generally even-tempered, and quick to forgive, although not quick to forget. She’ll almost always help a friend, although she’ll often make a satiric fuss about it to them. As far as bad qualities go, she can quickly shift into a bad temper, and can be rather clingy to those she likes. In a general sense, though, she can be described as a mostly decent person with a few caveats.

Bio: Florence was born in New Orleans to two married parents, with an overall normal family life, save for the unique situation of living with two of her maternal great grandparents, with her aunt and uncle living in the basement. Her early childhood saw little turmoil or upheaval, save for the crisis of 9/11, which of course shook the paranoias of parents more than anything else, and then the passing of her great grandmother, who’d long battled illness.

As the world always insists, however, a simple life simply isn’t a thing. Thus came Florence’s first experience with the power of water. Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, and devastated the city of New Orleans. The Villarrubias stayed, as Florence’s great grandfather refused to leave, so they all stayed out in Metairie with the grandparents where the flooding was less severe. Some things that were more permanent hit as well, however. Her great grandfather had a fall, and needed to be rushed to the hospital all the way in Baton Rouge while the city was under lockdown. Her parents volunteered to make the trek with him, taking along her young brother. None returned, having made it only a ways from the unflooded areas to skid out on the highway and crash.

In the years following, Florence was nominally raised by her aunt and uncle, but, as the both of them were still in their 20’s and working hard to rebuild, it was her grandparents that took up the yoke. Her father’s parents were divorced, with one still working long hours, and the other physically injured and unable to easily handle a young child. So she grew up in the care of her grandmother, and spent most of her early childhood with them, until she turned ten, when she gradually phased into being in the care of her aunt and uncle. She spent most of her teenage years with her aunt and uncle, and saw as they had kids of their own, but remembered her lost family clearly, even after years and years.

It was at age nine, right before beginning the third chapter of her life with her aunt and uncle, that Florence’s powers first showed. Out in the sun room, she sat with her grandparents listening to the reports coming in of Hurricane Gustav. As her grandmother reported: “Well little Florence, she just looked at the big pond of water and she started yelling “No” at it and Lou and I thought she was just still upset about her parents, and I turned to Lou and he just says “Nanc, look at your f-ing granddaughter” and I turn around and see little Florence just still yelling at the window but I look out like Lou said and the water was—it was listenin’ to her, stayin’ back like she was Moses or something!"

This began a series of events where Florence would demonstrate her abilities without true conscious control of her primary abilities, some of which would go down in the local news during the Meta Report. Her high school years would see her begin to hone these hydrokinetic abilities, and would lead to her discovering her mermaid form. While not a member of the swim team at her school, Florence nonetheless spent a great deal of time honing her skills using the pool's water, often to the ire of people who had preferred the water stay in the pool.

Hydrokinesis wasn't the only thing she practiced in high school, however. With a lust for languages and an inheritance, she booked herself three tutors, for three languages: Indonesian, Thai, and Hungarian. In school, she enrolled in the French and Vietnamese programmes, and excelled throughout her pursuit of language learning, occasionally at the expense of her other core classes, particularly math and science. Her superhuman abilities would put her on the track to become a student at the William J. Nantz Institution, where her education in harnessing her powers saw her scratch deeper into all the uses and nuances of her powers, something that still continues in her second year and will continue beyond it.

As far as other skills go, she is a reasonably decent singer and pianist, and has a knack for learning languages.

Hmm, seems VERY similar to our other hydrokinetic, but I'll let Okayanos pass judgement on that. On another note I have 2 points:

1) I don't believe you've been all that active or at all active in AWH in the past. If I'm wrong please correct me, otherwise she needs to be a year 1.

2) She would be restricted from using her powers in public, especially at school and for competitions due to her not being sanctioned. Refusing to comply could result in diciplinary behavior.

I’ve been in so many hero and academy RPs it was tough to recall, so I just looked through my whole post history. Seems I got a bit confused, so I’ll tweak the year. As far as the similarity goes, I did mention to you that I had been planning on making a hydrokinetic as we already had one, but I did try to go out of the way to differentiate her. As far as the usage restrictions go, would that not only apply after joining William J. Nantz Institution?

Metas, with only a few exceptions, are not allowed to practice, demonstrate, or use their powers in public. If people develop powers they are placed on a registry with those born with the Meta genes at birth and generally not monitored save for doctor checkups unless theyve shown tendencies that would make Argus wary.

The only way to become allowed to use your abilities at will is to become sanctioned, and the Academy is currently the main way of doing so.

Ah, alrighty. That clarifies it some. But I must ask, how exactly are they prevented from using their powers?

I’m sorry if I’m sounding difficult; I’m just a bit confused on how it works.

Predominantly because it's illegal and enforced like any crime. In private it's okay, but outside of private homes it's a crime. Ignoring it will cause Argus to become involved which can result in fines, jail time, and forced power suppression (like ankle monitor that can suppress most powers)
