I just had my Emperor be excommunicated for whatever reason the Pope decided it'd be a cool idea to do, so I issue the letter of repentance. He wants me to send my second son to become a monk and he'll lift it which is perfect because gavelkind is lame and it gets rid of him. The minute my son arrives in Rome and is made a monk, I'm immediately excommunicated again. Making an anti-Pope is very tempting now.

I mean, they where bullshit in real life so yeah, I think. TBH I never really cared about troop composition in CK2, too focused on politicing and using my dynasties women as pawns in a 4D chess game to get what I want than to actually declare war on everyone who owns stuff I want.
Yeah, troop composition isn't the most important thing. During my Israel game, I won wars with just doomstacks of light infantry. I do prefer light cavalry masses though, ever since my Polish/Wendish game where I beat the Mongols with my hordes of hussars. There's nothing quite like beating the Mongols with cavalry.

Conserative Morality wrote:"It's not time yet" is a tactic used by reactionaries in every era. "It's not time for democracy, it's not time for capitalism, it's not time for emancipation." Of course it's not time. It's never time, not on its own. You make it time. If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.

Doing quite well so far, especially Best Queen.
BQ was fierce right out the gate, grabbing a second Duchy, and eventually starting a new Kingdom (given how afraid I was for her life what with all the diseases and wounds she was racking up).
The world has turned out a little odd because of the Fractured World start. Be interesting to note how it eventually shakes out once all the counties get snapped up.
Of note, the Papacy got kicked out of Rome and ended up in a little church in Scotland, so all he needed to do was pop down the road to coronate BQ. Catholicism is pretty fucked at this point what with all the Heresies running rampant. It's particularly annoying in my own kingdom, but thankfully BQ saves the day again with a Learning of 8 so I can just talk-no-jutsu everyone back into Catholicism.
But alas, all good things must come to an end.
RIP Best Queen

Can't you try a Papal Restoration?

I was planning on expanding south, but maybe I'll grab that province just to keep him secure.
I'm just saying that restoring the Pope to Rome would increase the Catholic moral authority by 10% which would help with the heresies and associated revolts.

Oooh, is that a threshold? I’ll keep that in mind, cheers. The Huskar Social Union wrote:Burn the last Church of the Papacy
Also a possibility. I’m not married to Catholicism, and there’s been enough encroachment of the Danes to consider aiming for Pagan if none of the heresies interest me.
