Roman Gwinnet leads a pack of three
In what is probably the most successful race to date for the KRD Team Iona cars, with Golden Boy Gwinnett getting 12th, and Walters and Bombelli also getting top-25s. Walters was top qualifier for the Xanneria team. A swift departure from Walters early season exploits where he was DNQing left and right. New improvements to the car have helped immensely plus new qualifying strategies have helped too. The race didn't exactly get off to a smooth start for the KRD boys. Bombelli and Lisanderite driver Lourdina Westgrens spun early on and while Westgrens got stuck in the sand, Bombelli wasn't stuck and got back out before losing a lap. This may have helped Bombelli as he pit and was running top-10 for a chunk of the race too. A caution for Central Shaneville's David Land meant that now that everyone was on the same strategy with pitstops. This actually hurt Eddie Walters Jr as there were several incidents on the laps immediately after the restart one in particular where Cocoabo #78 drilled the left side of Walters car spinning Walters out and completely messing up the 78's suspension. This caused the bird to drop out of the race right on the spot without any contact with the wall. Meanwhile the race would play out with several incidents as brakes tended to be an issue, along with other mechanical issues such as Newmanistan who had all three of its cars overheat and one of them dropped out due to it. While the issues with Bombelli and Walters meant both could only muster top25s it's still seen as improvement for a team that had been struggling. Next week the teams will show up to a half-dirt, half-oaved track operated by Tropicorp.
