PHOENIX ACADEMY: SECTION B APPLICATION
VITALS
Name: Song Pyon (Korean: Pyon Song)
Species: Human
Nickname/Alias: Noname
Appearance:
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Build: 6'0", 136 lbs
Primary Ability: Song has a proficiency for mechanical objects, and can, for example, take them apart and put them back together again without having knowledge of the item's inner workings previously. She has a sort of photographic memory for these things too and can determine how machinery works by looking at it. Furthermore, she has increased speed and skill when it comes to assembling mechanical things, and electronics. This mainly applies to hardware, not the software side of things, although she knows things from both. Her ability also gives her a proficiency in designing mechanical things although this still requires tie.
Other Abilities: She can absorb electronically stored information. This depends on the encryption level and is a bit different from editing said information, but she can store massive amounts of info in her head this way and is a walking encyclopedia on a number of subjects after downloading electronically stored info into her mind directly. Most of these subjects are military related, because of her background.
Power Drawbacks: Song still needs to actually create any mechanical equipment she uses, which requires time, money, and resources. Her ability is mostly useless in isolation except for repairing things, because it doesn't give her any of those three things. Therefore, her projects are limited to what she can build with what she has on hand. She also can't make large jumps in complexity from what she's already made, meaning she has to build up her skill rather than jumping to the most complicated possible machines. For her information gathering power, she has to break the encryption before she can access any information. This must be done through traditional means.
Equipment: General Equipment: She typically uses a shotgun in combat that was created from start to finish by herself, and is designed to load Cyenthan AP ammunition. She's nicknamed this shotgun her can opener, because of it's capabilities to pierce through many types of body armor, including metal armor. She additionally keeps a recon quadcopter drone with her at most times when doing any kind of field work, using this to survey the battlefield from above and to potentially mark targets with a laser pointer for the purposes of hitting them with laser guided munitions. She doesn't wear much in the way of body armor, also, but she does wear a long sleeved carbo nanotube shirt in field operations which protects against some melee attacks and helps to lessen the impact of other attacks, even if it doesn't stop them completely or even mostly. She has a specialized pair of climbing gloves, which allow her to get grip easier.
Nanjaeng-i Turrets: For specific missions, Song will carry a bag on her back that is loaded with two collapsed turrets that can be deployed to control a specific area with machine gun fire, or alternatively, the machine gun can be removed and replaced with a guided missile launcher. If the latter is used, all attacks from the turret will have to be guided by someone else who uses a laser pointer to guide the ammunition. When automatically firing, the turrets will shoot on anything in their radius that matches the radar signature of a human. It doesn't matter whether the target is friendly or foe, making coordination important. The design was taken from the Republic of Korean government, which Song formerly worked for.
Jibaeja Man Portable Rocket Artillery System (MPRAS): Another device that Song helped work on for the Korean government is the Jibaeja, a man portable rocket artillery system that can be brought into the field if it has three people to operate it. Two carry the disassembled body of the system, which is similar to a mortar. A third person carries eight rockets, which are relatively low caliber to allow for transportation by one person. The rocket system is set up away from the fighting, and the rockets are fired based on measurements given by a spotter who is on the ground on the front line. This isn't the easiest system to use successfully, but it can be very dangerous with a competent operator and spotter. Song only brings it when expecting heavy targets.
Siege Gun: For some missions, Song can switch out her usual backpacks for something different, a launcher based weapon which is modeled off of Cyenthan tech. Carrying with the Cyenthan tradition of heavy firepower, this anti material weapon can easily break holes into walls or take out armored vehicles provided that there's a clear line of sight. This is not considered an anti personnel weapon when dealing with metahumans, because it isn't a guided weapon and therefore isn't accurate enough to consistently be used like this against mobile targets. But the large rods fired by this gun are useful for destroying structures and altering the battlefield.
DETAILS
Nationality: Republic of Korea
Hometown: Busan
Sexuality: Bisexual (Leans towards males)
Biggest Flaw: Song has a lack of confidence that has always been there since her upbringing in the Clandestine Activities Command, and this affects her decision making heavily as well as causes her to pursue risky behavior in an effort to boost that confidence and distract from her underlying depression.
Main Skills: Obviously, Song is good with mechanical engineering. However, her line of work has given her some experience unrelated to her powers, with electronic warfare, software design, and clandestine warfare. Physically, she's a lot more of an athlete than people give her credit for, and consistently spends time at the gym even if she has to stay up at odd hours to make sure that she gets there every day.
Personality: Song's personality is a construction by herself as an attempt to deal with some of the problems that plague her, such as her lack of confidence and her depression. She's always trying to prove herself, always trying to get ahead of her peers and show her worth, and always trying to look for a good experience, especially ones that get her adrenaline pumping. She desires personal attention, but instead of using her personality to get this, she uses crazy actions and big risks. It's hard to not pay attention to someone that will risk their life pulling some stunt, after all. She also chases fleeting moments of happiness desperately. Risky behavior is perfectly fine to her if it results in a little bit of happiness... Even if it comes back to bite her later. Underneath it all, however, she's much more subdued and intelligent than this would suggest. Most just don't see the true, calmer side of her.
Biography: As a fifteen year old in Busan, Song was identified for her abilities by the government of the Republic of Korea and was taken to Seoul and enrolled in the Clandestine Activities Command, the secretive wing of the South Korean military that utilizes metahumans in the fight against the communist nations that surround Korea from different sides. The Chinese to the north, Filipinos to the south, and Vietnamese and Cambodians to the far southwest would become her enemies as soon as she was trained in this unit. The recruitment of young metahumans was controversial, of course, but justified... The Chinese threat was one that could strike at any time, and with world tensions higher than they've ever been, the government took desperate measures. And so, that was how Song lost her childhood and became a soldier for her home country, something that she was fine with because of her own patriotism.
The organization carried out clandestine warfare against the communist bloc, as the name suggested. Most of the metahumans here were ones whose powers were good for indirect support: intelligence gatherers, engineers such as herself, stealth assassins. Their unit carried out electronic raid after electronic raid against the Chinese, while Song and the other engineers were given secretive projects to work on for the military, which is constantly looking for new equipment in the expectation that there will be a war soon between China and the RoK, now that the two countries share a border. Song developed weapons, electronic warfare systems, and other things for the military such as high tech communication devices. She wasn't alone, however, and learned from many of the older engineers within the unit's junior section.
When she was eighteen, Song entered a romantic relationship with another member of the unit, a twenty year old girl from Incheon who was named Gyeong-Hui Lee. Lee influenced many of the designs that Song had created, being the more talented engineer between the two. However, Lee was captured by Chinese foreign intelligence when she was helping to conduct a clandestine operation in Shanghai, along with a number of other agents. Supposedly, she was tortured for information before being killed, according to the two surviving operatives. Song did not have many other friends in the unit, especially after losing more friends than just Lee in the failed operation in Shanghai.
When she was twenty, her unit was targeted by Vietnamese agents acting as a proxy for China. These well trained agents would burn down the building being used by the unit, and Song would lose more of the few friends that she did have. The base of the unit was moved from Seoul to Incheon following this incident, and Song slipped into a further depression and gained her own scar from the encounter, which she barely escaped without being captured or killed. The next year, she would be arrested by the South Korean government because her and two other members of the unit were found to be involved in a financial scam and in money laundering. She was given a light sentence, likely with the intention of bringing her back to the unit in the future, but Song was able to disable her ankle bracelet and evaded capture.
She fled to the north of the country, which still had to deal with low level insurgency, and would hide with one of these insurgent cells in exchange for her expertise, until she was approached by Beatriz "Machina" Ortega. The offer was simple... Join the Union of Villains and attend their academy, and all of this would go away. And there would even be a chance to work for the highly prestigious and dangerous Office of Security, and to join that organization full time after graduating if she met the requirements. Despite it sending her far from home, she accepted and joined the academy as a designated engineer.

PHOENIX ACADEMY: SECTION B APPLICATION
VITALS
Name: Shuso Kuen
Species:Metahuman
Nickname/Alias: Fuko (‘Misfortune’)
Appearance:
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Build:5’9”, 145 lbs, normal build.
Primary Ability: Plasma Edge: Shuso can create blades of plasma from his hands and fingers that can extend to a maximum of 2 feet from his fingertips, allowing him to create claws or shortswords.
Other Abilities: Plasma Blast: Alternatively, Shuso can fire pellets of plasma akin to a shotgun. However, it is a very close range power as the plasma disperses within a few feet, but is a good weapon to have when he needs to forego using his blades.
Power Drawbacks: Both powers rely on the energy Shuso receives when he eats or drinks, and therefore requires him to eat much more than anyone else would as his metabolic rate is incredibly high to fuel his plasma. Both powers are also very short ranged, which means that he will have to get dangerously close to his target to deal any damage. Anyone with thick enough armor or powers that are able to mitigate heat will be difficult for him to take down with his powers alone. Because of his metabolic rate, Shuso has a higher body temperature, and therefore can be picked up easier by infrared.
Equipment: To prevent overheating, Shuso uses a bodysuit connected to a 2-liter reservoir that pumps ice water through a tube system in the suit. He also wears specialized gloves that mitigates the heat from the plasma so that he won’t burn his hands.
DETAILS
Nationality: Japanese
Hometown: Kyoto, Japan.
Sexuality: Bisexual (leans towards females)
Biggest Flaw: Shuso doesn’t exactly know how to restrain himself in combat, which could be a good thing depending on how its viewed, but in most cases it’s a detriment as he puts himself and others in harm’s way simply because he can’t keep himself from charging an enemy as soon as he gets the chance.
Main Skills: Having been trained by the Yakuza that took him in, Shuso is skilled in most forms of melee combat, as well as using his powers to bypass any lock by burning through whatever the lock was holding shut. The heat from his plasma means that he can cauterize any bleeding wounds, which can be useful in the form of a makeshift first aid. He is also great at getting under people’s skin and getting them mad enough to make brash decisions that will come back to bite them in the ass. He can speak Japanese as well as English due to his birthplace.
Personality: Shuso is at heart, a clown who loves to joke around and do whatever he sees fit. Simply put, he is unpredictable in both personality and fighting style. However when the situation calls for it, he will stop joking around, except he won’t but will still be serious while still cracking wise.
Biography: Shuso wasn’t exactly born into a family per se, but rather a group of families. His mother was sexually provocative and swung from partner to partner like it was second nature. Obviously, this would cause plenty of confusion as to who the father actually was, and after plenty of finger pointing, his mother had gone for a DNA test to see who was responsible. In a twist of luck, this turned out to be the son of a second lieutenant of a yakuza clan belonging to the Iwagawa-kai.
Ordered by his father, the son raised his accident of a child while giving him the name ‘Fuko’, the Japanese word meaning ‘misfortune’. Despite his bitterness, the son raised Fuko well, though this maybe due to the pressure that Fuko’s grandfather had put on his son. At that point, Fuko had a rather normal life despite being indirectly connected to the Yakuza, though his problems in school or in society in general quickly vanished once his father had caught wind of them. By the time he was in middle school, Fuko became more and more involved in his father’s gang activities, though only low-risk activities. He also began to associate himself with the delinquents of his school, though it was ignored by the administration.
Over time the delinquents had impressed on Fuko, making him more defiant to most authorities as well as making him prone to criminal acts. It was also where Fuko learned how to fight, at least on a middle schooler’s level, which equated to pushing someone to the ground before beating them to submission. If it weren’t for his family, Fuko would have surely been expelled at this point. By high school Fuko was even more involved in the yakuza, to the point where he was often assigned to collect protection money.
One day as he was trying to light a cigarette, Fuko had lit the cigarette, but the lighter was not producing any flame. As he looked at his hand, he noticed that there were small spikes of what looked like fire coming out of his fingertips. Upon closer inspection, he found that it was plasma, and not fire. After informing his father, Fuko was given a new name as well as being allowed to adopt his father’s last name, Kuen. His father decided to name him ‘Shuso’, as when put together with his last name, created ‘Shusoku-en’, Japanese for ‘focused flame’. Through proper training, Shuso developed his powers and soon became a useful asset to the clan by creating a silent alternative to breaking open safes.
When he turned 21, his actions somehow drew the attention of the Phoenix Academy, and with the consent of his father, Shuso decided to take the offer of enrolling into the Academy.

I think you mean Malaka, instead of Kalama. And I think Rick is going to be pretty useless here. Just sayin'.
