IFAF Western Isles Cup History (OOC)

Image
With all of the cup craze going on in the region, why not get a start on building up all of the historic lore of the Isles premier yearly national footballing tournament ? Well that's the purpose here. In this OOC thread, nations of the Western Isles shall work to collaborate on their nations involvement in the IFAF Western Isles Cup, yearly performance, and the development of historic traditions, rivalries, timeless stories, and national heroes in footballing throughout the Isles.

In this thread, I hope we can all collaborate on that, and give the yearly Western Isles Cup some much needed history and prestige.

ON THE AGENDA : SIMULATIONS OF PAST ISLES CUP, DETERMINING WHICH NATION HAS THE MOST CUP WINS OVERALL

Hi, I see my nations island marked as CEFA, as we are the most southeastern part of Gael, I would rather belong to GFA if that is possible.

The IFAF was founded 109 years ago (IC'ly , per Dorms factbook on the organization)

so the first cup would be around 1909 - 1910.

I was working on the basis that I've only had a domestic league for the last 10 years/seasons and that I have only just formed an international squad.
I'm entering this with the same expectations as IRL Iceland did (i.e. none) but hope to make a mark on the map by qualifying and playing well.
If there is an opportunity to play some friendlies - I'd be up for that, too.

Thanks mods, alright.

Anyways, this will fit into my futbol dispatch at least. I'm hoping for Polar Svalbard to at least be a contender throughout history.

Yeah, to fit historic canon some nations still probably would not have existed then, so evidently, alot of the older IC nations would be historically most dominant / most championship wins within a 100 year period.

And as per tagging for my fellow posters, please post in this thread [b]ONLY{/b] with questions or comments. It appears that "tag" posts are being cracked down upon for its spam-esque nature. So please, follow the rules and lets get this show going

Samudera would've entered IFAF for the first time in 1939, then eight-years lul as a result of IW1. Samudera would sent another team in 1947. Historically, football is never the strong point of Samudera, so wouldn't expect many victories.

Its an old version of the map. It will be updated and since you're in Gael you would be in GFA events in the future. No need to worry !

Right, so San Montagna would have been introduced to association football in the 1890s by Italian Immigrants. Its National Team would have been present at the first IFAF cup. As Football is the most popular sport in San Montagna, Its National team would have been a major team in the Isles until recently (around 2005) when it entered a period of mediocrity.

I have some specific hopes for this.

Ostehaar joined the regional associations in 1930, being a relatively week competitor. The "golden age" of Oster football was in 1988-2001. After that there was a short decline (from which Oster football has only recently recovered).

The "specific hopes" I mentioned are those: I would really love to have won the regional championship in 1988 or 1989 specifically, and maybe have a few more wins during my "golden age". Prior to that and in 2002-2008 I shouldn't have any wins at all. Other than that I don't mind.

If you'd all be fine with it, it would make me very happy. :)

My football dispatch, for reference -

I would like to have the biggest success of Taiouan be the semi-finals in 1988, which we lost but our boys come home as heros.

So overall, I am planning to have a top 10 teams based on most championship wins overall.

Not in any particular order, but the teams I am thinking that fit now : San Montagna, Norstham, Ostehaar, Athara Magarat, Dormill and Stiura / Noronica as the historic heavyweight teams in terms of total cup wins

The other five teams is up to deliberate, but my early inclinations lean towards Polar Svalbard, Corindia, Cosie, Verdon, and Michigonia to round out a overall top 10 in history, we can deliberate on a designation for cup wins for the top 15 teams throughout history 11-15 (i.e - Verona Beach, Orsandia, etc.) and try to simulate or divide up nearly 100 years worth of cups between nations to help Dormill and Stiura build the IFAF factbook he has.
