RP INTEREST AND FEEDBACK REQUEST
Please provide as much detail as possible.
RP's Overarching Concept: A roleplay in the Renaissance but with fantasy beings such as Elves, Dwarves and what not co-existing with humans.
Genre/s: Historical Fantasy
Character or Faction Based: Both.
Detailed Description: Basically, I had in my head of what if there was a world with Fantasy beings were in it as well? This would also add some more adventuring elements and give way to adventurers discovering cool stuff and loot, as well as have some good political roleplay with some of the species that are never usually used such as a succubus kingdom or a Mermaid Empire under the ocean.

Need Help With: Setting up the races and making a good plot starter of where it can begin at, as well as balancing out the beings so no one can be overpowered. Oh, and setting up norms n such.

Perhaps a political RP centered around the ongoings of a city state (like Venice, Verona, etc) where instead of entire kingdoms built around the unusual species you instead focus on various Patrician Houses rivaled in trade and for the position of Duce.

That's actually a pretty good idea.

In fact, pair that with a decent map of the city's surrounding lands and resources - and you'd have something to plot, scheme and fight over as well.

RP INTEREST AND FEEDBACK REQUEST
Please provide as much detail as possible.
RP's Overarching Concept: on a planet inspired by 50s and 60s America, superpowered people are employed by agencies that handle all superhero business. Corporate superheroes isn’t exactly an original idea but transplanting this concept to a 50s office environment à la Mad Men seems like an interesting idea.
Genre/s: superhero, and I suppose slice-of-life … sort of.
Character or Faction Based: character
Detailed Description: a retro-futuristic superhero RP set on a planetwide city - an ecumenopolis - inspired (at least aesthetically) by 50s and early 60s Americana. Various superhero agencies protect this planet-city’s inhabitants from would-be supervillains, extra-terrestrial invaders, and anything else that jeopardises their safety, but they don’t do it for free. These agencies protect private and public institutions from extra-normal threats for a fee, their on-staff superheroes supported by an army of non-powered employees: accountants, lawyers, public relations officers, secretaries, and many more. Additionally, each agency maintains an investigations department. Investigators typically resent their superhero colleagues because they can spend weeks chasing down leads to uncover the location of a supervillain’s lair only to have some costumed blowhard take them down and get all the glory. In this RP, player characters are employed by an agency, be they a superhero or not, and they must navigate their way through office politics while trying to survive (and maybe thrive) in this crazy comic book world. As a backstory, I’m thinking that in this world’s past, something like Star Trek’s Eugenics Wars occurred whereby, through genetic engineering, this planet’s inhabitants activated a recessive gene that grants those individuals possessing it superpowers. This led to a conflict that devastated this world and an eventual peace agreement that resulted in every nation uniting into a supranational union that led to their planet becoming an ecumenopolis. This explains both how superpowers came to exist and how this world came to be a planetwide city. Prior to this RP, a big insurance scandal occurred and a major superhero agency that was involved had to shut down and its former employees - including superheroes - are seeking employment at other agencies. Our RP begins in this scandal’s wake, player characters having to deal with its repercussions.

Need Help With: worldbuilding; I want to flesh this planetwide city out to make it feel more authentic, better defining these superhero agencies place in this world and how they function. I also need names for superhero agencies. Though I think it’d be better that our characters only work for one agency (probably a mid-level agency), having several fully realised agencies will help make this world feel more alive.

I really like the idea Ort. I'm kind of stretched thin RP wise right now, but if any of them clears up, I'd be in it.
The Clockwork Circus - Welcome to a steampunk RP rife with crime, gangs, beggars, and starting off as the lowest of the low, in the lowest socio-economic place there is.

I’m glad to hear that you’re interested. I’m trying to work out Champions LLC’s structure (that’s the placeholder name I’m using for the superhero agency player characters will probably end up working for). It’ll be divided into departments and currently I’ve decided that there’s an accounting department, an investigations department, a legal department, a PR and marketing department, and some sort of R&D or science department. In terms of this company’s hierarchy, as a limited liability company it’s led by a president and his/her partners who’ll probably all be superheroes, though some might be retired from active duty. I’m also inclined to let people play as certain departmental heads or chiefs. Also, in addition to their heroic duties, superheroes also make appearances on TV shows, do product placements, and star in commercials, among other things.

Due to an issue brought up regarding an over arching plot of some kind the Saurian Reboot is on hold (again)

With that said I do hope to see that Renaissance Fantasy RP launch.

I had a concept, nearly two years ago, called Ashes over Aethion, It was to take place in a fantasy setting and the like. I had included some game elements, but my indecision led it to die in the brainstorming phase. However, recently, what with time i have on my hands with no steady connection to the internet i have been reworking and going over past concepts, and have begun to revamp Ashes over Aethion.

The RP would probably begin shortly after the Game is fully released. I have more than a few races for it, and expansions for the game IC'ly will include other races and stuff that characters can change to and the like.

Races include but are not limited to Humans(which there will be at least 2 types), Weseh(beastkin), Elementals, Mensir(Warrior Elves who worship a god of Strength and War), Thangar(Dwarves), Automata (Both Clockwork and Golems), as well as others. There will be 6 classes to start that can be picked with slight variants between them, Warrior, Healer, Thief, Hunter, Wizard, and Summoner.

Warrior: (They hack and slash, excessively, oh they may stab and crush too)

Wizard: (Burn them with fire, oh and lightning, maybe bury them alive as well, lots of ways to kill things.)

Healer: (You heal things, big deal, who needs a healer just practice alchemy. Potion Spam FTW.)

Thief: (You steal from the rich and give to the poor, well you probably steal from them too.)

Summoner: (You do very little fighting preferring to hide behind summoned or contracted minions as they fight. Meat Shields HOOOO)

Hunter: (You hunt, also much Shooty Shooty and Stabby Stabby involved)

I will be using the original map that i found using a map generator.I have also begun marking the rough borders and locations of the main nations and places where members of certain races are found.

During the time that tabletop RPG's were popular, there was one that stood at the top, Ashes over Aethion. It was released in the Late 70's alongside another TRPG, Heroes United, both games were well received and lauded for their complexity and customizability. Heroes United was set in a world similar to ours full of Heroes and Villains, Ashes over Aethion on the other hand was rather different.

The World of Aethion is a fantastical place full of monsters, magic, and wondrous races. It has multiple continents but the majority of its people and Kingdoms are located on Pahara, the largest of its continents. It has weathered many wars and its people deal with monster attacks on a regular basis, but they survive due to adventurers.

Adventurers are capable fighters who fight monsters and deal with bandits and other requests to help the citizens of Pahara. They are governed by the Adventurers guilds and each are members of the Order of Adventurers. The Guilds are bound by the laws of the country they are in, but except for certain circumstances they are neutral concerning affairs of war.

Despite the fact that over the years TRPGs have fallen in popularity AoA was one that has still survived. As Video and PC games became prevalent the creators of both AoA and Heroes United decided to expand, both games were moved to other platforms. This led to a growth in popularity for both games and even their TRPG variants. That in turn led to MMORPG and OARPGS being developed for both set in the same verse for the games.

In recent years however Virtual Reality games have overtaken all other types of games. Despite this the AoA games have still survived, if barely, their popularity keeping them alive. This year, 2045, the AoA franchise has come to VR in the form of Ashes over Aethion: Rebirth. It not only carried most if not all the regular lore and variety but it evolves and changes as the players act and influence the world. Not all players of Ashes over Aethion were happy with this, some viewed the video games as being simple bastardizations of the original game, the VR version as well.

The above is part of the tentaive premise i typed out for the story version of the concept but can still be adapted. Additionally i have typed out a thing detailing the summarized history and state of Aethion as of the Game start, which will be updated as characters go around doing things and the like.

The earliest written histories refer to an ancient event known as the Reckoning when world was changed forever. Ever since that discovery AtR After the Reckoning was used as an affix for the year. It was in the Year 1154 AtR that the Continent of Pahara was changed, just as Aethion was changed forever so long ago in, when the First Scourge swept across Pahara like a plague.

No one knows who or what the Scourge was, just that it was powerful enough to force all the Nations and Races of Pahara to band together despite their differences. Some think it was a creation of the Lord of Destruction to bring 'balance' to Pahara, regardless of its origins it changed Pahara. After it was sealed, not defeated but sealed, Dungeons popped up all over Pahara, places full of traps and monster but also full of treasure.

It has been nearly 400 years since that time and Nations have risen and fallen but Pahara and its people have survived in this tough land. It has been peaceful as of late, with small skirmishes now and then but no large wars. More and more dungeons and artifacts have been discovered but peace has endured. Signs have been pointing towards another great change, but few suspected that it would be Explorers, powerful denizens of another land making Pahara their home.

The two expansions involve the release of an ancient enemy and exploring new lands with associated cultures and the like.

For the rp i will most likely limit much of the mechanics i had planned behind it, such as Origins determining what traits and skills one started with as well as Affinities and Proficiencies. As of the game start IC'ly most will probably be limited to certain areas of Pahara until future updates.

Anyways, i know this might be a lot to read through, but Thoughts?

I don't usually join VR RPs- but I'm familiar with you enough to give this one a try. It sounds solid enough to me and shouldn't be too difficult for me to come up with a character that would play such a game. The closest I ever got was 'Neo Geode Extreme'. I'm not sure why at the time I was against the idea of playing as players of the game but such was my mind at the time. But I digress- this sounds cool especially with the expansions. Though- this would be the first time I'd be playing such a thing from the player perspective. Having the player characters as 'far worlders' is a nice touch; makes their meddling a bit more ignorance then malice.

I remember that, I was in it in fact, gave birth to one of my superhero concepts there, Giovanni D'angelo The Unbleeding/Bloody Angel.

The thing about the concept though is yes you are technically playing people playing the characters, but the world of Aethion is a living and evolving one. Players will quickly realize that they should not simply treat it as another game, but as a another world where they are living another life. I had intended for there to be 'origins' which would in part determine starting traits for characters, but such things might make the concept a bit too complex.

It would indeed and you'd have to have NPCs reactive to such backgrounds- as outsiders every player is on even footing having to carve their own place in this '2nd world'. However, you can still have 'starter packs' avaliable at the 'gateway' or 'hub' or 'harbor' where players enter the world- which would provide some starting equipment and the like.

Fellas, I'm working on a zombie RP that I wish to release when the Z-DAY happens. It's been actually in the workshop for a year now, but I've now have been pouring in work. I just need to know if there are biology bois out there who would like to help me develop a virus *cough* basic reproduction number *cough*. I would appreciate it if someone helps anyway.

I'm intrigued but do to my own project will most likely not be able to join. Still I am interested in seeing updates on the concept. I'm guessing we'll be seeing a lot of Officer Jeanie's many sisters and be dealing with some zany crimes and more sever ones- like the gang activity of Team Rocket (unless it's based on material I'm not familiar with).

I won't even feels the form in (I'm not ready to that with what I have) but I just had an idea for an RP.
It's 1291, and Acre is besieged by infidels. A call has been sent out to Europe for help, but no one answered. No one except for the rpers' Characters, that is. Anyone interested?

Hey guys, I'm not being a good OP for what should be a fun experience- small things like - players joining so they can add lore and then not posting or posting once afterwards- leaving an impact but not making the inclusion seem worth it due to their absence. Things like players not reading the OP to understand the RP.

I've become a grump, and gradually more dominating and 'hammer heavy' then when I stated.

.... I'd like someone to Co-OP and - calm me down and mediate... players try but- ... sigh- I know them reading all my frustration and heaviness doesn't help.

So, if any of you are willing to do so- I'd be appreciative and I do feel a bit vulnerable confessing this.

I'm just not in the right mightset but so very much want to have an enjoyable experience... but as I once posted it's difficult- I'm the OP and a Player- I have a character- which just- makes this all the more difficult.

Started an RP because it was something I wanted to play and no one had it up- and it's just lead to a conflict of interest. I want to have fun and I get- so paranoid about other players it's debilitating.

I planed for this to be a character RP, sorte like a tabletop RPG.l, but I haven't been able to figure out the details yet. So, in short, I'm open to suggestions.

Ok, I have a draft for an RP. I still need formatting, and maps and stuff, but I have everything else.

RP Name: Road Trip 2038
Genre: Post-Apocalyptic, character

Background:
Two years ago, the permafrost in the Arctic began melting due to climate change. Frozen within the ice was a virus completely unknown to science. As the ice melted, the virus was released. It was transmitted by drinking infected water, or coming in contact with the infected. Thing was, symptoms didn't show up for at least a week after infection, so people didn't even know they were infected. It spread rapidly, killing billions. Only 20% of the world's population was immune. With that many people dead, everything fell apart. The American countryside is now a lawless warzone. Any remaining cities that survived are lifeboats in a sea of chaos. A refuge in the storm. The old interstate highway system is the easiest way to get around, providing a lifeline for the cities, with supply convoys traveling between them. These supply convoys are made up of a variety of vehicles. Gas is scarce, so most still operational vehicles have been converted to run on solar power or some other fuel. Some industry and manufacturing remains intact, so it's possible to get some manufactured goods, like ammo and tools. Internet access is almost impossible to get.

Your role:
You are a member of one of these supply convoys, whether as a supply person, or for other reasons, such as immigration. You and your trusty vehicle will be making the long dangerous journey from St. Louis to Portland Oregon. It's dangerous to travel at night, so you'll have to make camp, and wait till dawn to keep moving. Keep your wits (and a gun) about you, and you might survive.

Rules:
1. Minimal military characters (one or two are fine).
2. No godmodding or metagaming.
3. No overpowered characters.
4. Standard NS RP rules apply (and data rates).
5. Your character can die, but we'll try to mostly kill off NPCs.
6. Have fun!

So, me and Dyllonia are doing this RP project coming up where we create an entirely different world, and players can make a medieval country within that magical world.
https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=449402
Here, I have posted a request for people to help us put it together, like map makers and thread formatters, and moderator positions for when the RP is up. But no one is applying.
So, my question is, where can I find people to fill these positions?
We mainly need a map maker to draw up a map of our fictional world. So, could someone tell me, please, how I can find people to do that stuff?

Stick with us, and give us loyalty, and we'll do things that benefit you, and we'll stick with you.
If you cross us, however, then as a pack, we will hunt you.

I Wish I Wasn't in Dixie

Current Map of the situation (1952)

Mankind would have become as the Great Old Ones; free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing and reveling in joy. Then the liberated Old Ones would teach them new ways to shout and kill and revel and enjoy themselves, and all the earth would flame with a holocaust of ecstasy and freedom.

SONG CHOICE

Your train comes to a sudden stop, and you can't seem to find out why.

The train workers usher you off, and a man in a grey uniform tells you the train can go no further for the time being.

A military convoy passes by you marching either to their deaths or glory on the "front", and it appears it has shifted yet again.

You took off from Austin and were heading to what used to be Mexico City for whatever reasons brought you all together.

Now you are stuck in this area, and the faded sign says "Laggards Burrow" an odd name for what appears to be a slightly prosperous town.

The railway has brought this place lots of business, but it still maintains its imperial charm having been founded decades ago back when Mexico had its own emperor and wasn't just a transitional occupation state.

The town is large and covers several miles, and despite prospering has a sense of isolation around it, and with the train, route closed you are effectively stranded here for the time being. The local military officer assures you it is only for the time being, but those of you at the depot station get the distinct feeling this town isn't overly welcoming of strangers.

To the west, you see field after field of cotton, corn, and everything else labored by thousands of slaves observed strictly by immigrants with harsh accents clearly Irish who fled the famine. Each slave marked with the branding symbol of the "Stockton Union" a British firm trying to make money to ensure Britain survives in its perpetual war with the Soviets.

To the east lays the town showcasing a grand Mormon temple yet also a large imperial cathedral, and from the Texan shop owners, and workers at the depot you find the polygamist Mormons, and Imperials don't get along too well. Finding Texans here is no surprise since many fled after the third Texan rebellion failed back in the early thirties, but what is a surprise is the huge amount of Mexicans waiting to be processed.

They all carry little passbooks with them, and men in black uniforms carefully look at each before handing them a bit of money to head off to the run down part of town presumably the ghetto they live in. All that said there have always been reports about people going missing in this part of Mexico, and other oddities such as the traveling circus of the doctor of black, and white. Reportedly a macabre show handled by a man who grafts pieces onto his performer's bodies to enhance their shows.

Others report strange totems, and other things harkening back to the old gods of pre-Christian Mexico up in the furthest areas outside of town. Most likely it is superstition, but the town clearly has some secrets, and whether you choose to drink away your stay here or make a place remember this. Small towns often have the biggest secrets in their closet, and they will do anything to protect them even if it means someone has to go missing.

THEME

Thematically this story concerns itself in a fictional world of a very different alternate history. The town of Laggards Burrow fits the name perfectly even if not in looks as it feels behind the times due to its isolation, and is a hole in the middle of nowhere. The town lived before the railroad made it a popular thoroughfare spot, but even then due to the backwardness of infrastructure things haven't advanced enough. This roleplay is a mix of several stories by H.P Lovecraft as well as several others. Genre-wise it features heavy southern gothic elements and contains itself within a Victorian styled world in both morality, and culture.

There isn't just cosmic horror involved, but religious horror as well since Mexico is a land of vengeful gods, monsters, and abominable tales. The town is only going to tolerate you the roleplayers for as long as you make yourself useful, and try to keep under the radar without pissing them off. This is a town full of secrets, and these secrets typically don't like being disturbed one bit at all. Laggard's Burrow isn't dying, but parts of the town will certainly feel like it depending on the group living there. All of you are in some way coming to Mexico in an act of fleeing a world on fire.

The world to many is ending, but the apocalypse hasn't quite caught up to Laggards Burrow just yet. Either you are fleeing your past, your self, or the actions you can bunker down here as the world continues down a path of madness. Reports of the dead rising in many war-torn parts of the world to attack, and consume the living have also added fuel to this fire. Whatever mystery in this town there is you might do your best to keep it to yourself or think it best to let everyone know. Just remember that your actions have consequences so watch your back because someone is most certainly watching yours.

A SHORT LORE INTRODUCTION

The earth is in a much different state than what we know it as, and to many, the year 1952 seems to be just the tip of an iceberg of horrors. Reports claim the dead are rising in isolated pockets around the globe to feast on the living. The murder rate is skyrocketing as cults celebrating ancient deities engage in an endless orgy of human sacrifice to attain long sought after immortality. One cult called "the order of death" seeks to create a living avatar of death itself to ravage the world, and send mankind into an ultimate state of frenzy. Free from the laws of life, and creation subject only to the madness, and welcoming glow of the void.

The British firebomb their possessions in Africa, and India to maintain order, and have sacrificed their principles by enslaving millions of people, and making profits off of them in order to fund their war effort against the ravenous Soviets who from their position in occupied Germany launch daily forays in French territory. The French in kind has resorted to moving their administration to Algiers as Paris is bombed daily by Soviet planes carrying biological explosives. Anglo-French forces and the Soviets fight each other in an increasingly toxic environment filled with machine guns, trenches, ruins, landmines, and reportedly even the lumbering dead who rise to feast on corpses after each battle.

Their solution to the problem in Indochina has been in part to test an experimental substance down there horrifyingly mutating the locals into monstrous abominations if they survive the bombing runs that is. Soviet brainwashing programs have made suicide bombers a daily reality in Europe as they seek to export their revolution globally. In the far east, the superpower known to many simply as the "shogunate" controls many in East Asia under its iron grip seeking to conform all to the state. Very few foreigners are granted access to the heartland known as the home islands, but those who do speak of an ideology promoting an imperial cult, Buddhist impermanence, death of one's self, and militarism to the extreme. They are apparently giving the Soviets a run for their money having occupied coastal towns, and cities such as Vladivostok, and have crushed the Soviet far eastern naval forces.

Americans know them because of the fact they have claimed Alaska, and Hawaii for their domain, and since 1946 have engaged in a war of all-out brutality against the Pacific Northwestern States. Some speculate soviet sleeper agents assassinated Shogunate members of a trade mission, and this gave the Shogunate proper casus belli to invade the PNS as it has. Whatever the Soviets were hoping for hasn't worked, and now the idyllic landscapes of the Pacific Northwest are filled with trenches, long lasting poisonous gasses, and bodies equipped with everything from the clothes on their back to grand ornate armor with strange face masks, and unusual swords. Some report the armor can actually reflect bullets better than first believed, but these are all rumors. For now, the war continues with efforts of defense coordinated from Boise, and volunteers of several American nations getting involved to expel the "foreign devil" from the continent.

In America's the dominant country is the Imperial States of Columbia established out of the Confederate States of America. Following the 1864 treaty of Philadelphia the CSA proved incredibly unstable, and after the assassination of Jefferson Davis by a disgruntled veteran a military junta stepped in. The Conference of Montgomery (1865) established the Imperial States of Columbia as the legal successor and invited Louis Philippe of Orleans to serve as elected emperor of the ISC. The man realizing the restoration of the French Monarchy wasn't viable at the moment chose to accept the offer to become the leader of the Imperial Columbian government. The civilian government heavily modified under a new constitution addressing several issues the confederacy had as well as adding the military to be an integral branch was put into place by the end of the year.

The U.S would go to war with the Imperial States in 1893, and again in 1912 taking away chunks of territory each time the U.S lost. In 1921 the U.S entered an unrecoverable depression in part due to militarism, secessionism, and foreign influence. Workers in the D.C neutral zone, and elsewhere found that their paychecks stopped coming, and the government simply dissolved overnight after a failed military coup. For a few years, the U.S continued as a skeleton government while states broke off to form new unions. The last of the loyal states left in 1933, and a new "US" was founded in Chicago named the Free States of America.

To many, the collapse of the U.S was inevitable when the last president's economic reforms did nothing to continue the fast downfall occurring as a result of the depression. This was highlighted by the fact parts of several states held referendums, seceded, and only an apathetic military reaction was allowed for fear of war. This heightened the distrust, and ultimately ruined the old United States which by this point is a memory for regretful elderly, and middle-aged citizens. People today collect U.S Dollars for tokens while Columbian Dollars are for the most part accepted in all nations, and even traded with due to the fact it represents a superpower that seems sane in a world going mad. For those of you about to play welcome to I Wish I Wasn't in Dixie, and please enjoy this experience.

I Wish I Wasn't in Dixie OOC Part 2 Draft

Postby Benuty » Sat Sep 08, 2018 9:07 am

Imperial Bureau of Investigation- Occult Division of Mexico
HIS MAJESTIES SERVICE--TOWN OF LAGGARDS BURROW
--ONGOING INVESTIGATION #372,000

• High Interest Individuals
- Bartholomew Nettles aka The Doctor of Black, and White, possibly aged 90.
(active since August 1923)
A man noted for wearing a doctors outfit half black, and half white he is infamous in Mexico for taking in all kinds of rejects, orphans, and others to put on display in his "circus of freaks". The man claims to be part of a family which has engaged in these kinds of freak shows since the fall of the Aztecs. The current owner is known for being incredibly eccentric and employing unethical medical professionals to attach prosthetics, and other parts to the bodies of the attractions in order to "enhance" them. Wherever he, and his attractions go however a dead body is always left behind ritually gored, dessicated, and drained of all organs. It may be just that a serial killer is covering his tracks using the show, but some suspect that Dr. Nettles is continuing an ancient family tradition to artificially extend someone's life well beyond their years.

Regardless the man himself may not be guilty of anything, but he and his attractions need to be closely watched for the time being.

- Gunther Abbot aka Steel Face, aged 40
(active since 1944)
Reportedly a German super soldier he dons a thick steel mask when boxing opponents, and apparently has the power to harness electricity through his hands, and propel it toward a designated target. He defected to Columbia after causing a wave of carnage throughout the Soviet Union in the second Battle of Stalingrad which reportedly bought the Germans a year extra. He went around Mexico as a boxing champion with foreign sponsors fighting tooth, and neck to get him before he ultimately retired in 1947. This retirement has apparently brought him to Laggards Burrow, and a trail of bodies to boot. Some of the surviving scientists believe his body will either disintegrate from his powers by age fifty or he is, in fact, becoming an entity of pure electricity.

- Chloe Belton aka The Mistress, aged 127
(active since 1867)
Reportedly a former mistress to the prophet Joseph Smith something changed after his death, and she had a run in with a beast which savaged her, and a faraway admirer gave her cursed blood in order to save her. The first cases of her were reported back in 1867, and it appears wherever the Mormon faith goes she goes as well, and some suspect she may be in Mexico. It is known she is an avid protector, and spreader of Mormonism all over the corners of the globe, and through the "nights blessing" she ensures its survival, and ultimately her own. She aids the poor, and downtrodden with her gifts by telling them it will help them on a righteous cause, and she gives her "blessing" to those of the church she deems worthy.

By all accounts the woman is downright fanatical to the faith and possibly has had a lot of influence since Smith's death in the course it has taken. Over a three year period, she raised an army of Golems to savage the towns which persecuted Mormons, and her massacres were most notably in Illinois, and Missouri. Whether in Laggards Burrow to check on the faithful or some other mission beware her wrath.

- Papa Jack, age unknown
(active since 1913)
Known warmly by many of the locals as Papa Jack he runs what is effectively a warlord state in Mexico. The man claims to be well over a thousand years old, and no one can exactly dispute this claim. He seems to be brought back around whenever the world is in a severe state of turbulence, and the last time people saw him was when he led a bloody reign of piracy across the Caribbean. Reportedly he angered foreign gods and was struck through time as punishment. Now he is a man with no place in time and claims to be unkillable in the sense he is barred from the afterlife.

He runs a militia terrorizing swathes of Mexico as the state is broken apart, and consumed by Columbia. He models his area after the various pirate codes this time adding anarchist rhetoric, and other oddities on top of it as well. Called Papa Jack out of affection the disenfranchised locals flock to him, and very soon if the situation isn't resolved he could launch an attack on Laggards Burrow.

-The Horror, age unknown
(active since 1897)
A strange malevolent being which is heavily involved in Mexico these days for some reasons. Some speculate it as a fallen god that has become a cosmic force which feeds off emotions. People either in arrogance or greed make contracts with the horror for extended lifespans and other rewards. It will stay active by assimilating a host whether they know it or not and using them as a conduit for misfortune, and misery. It will stay awake for centuries, and sleep for just as long with its current phase being active since 1897.

Its current host is potentially an ex-soldier who retired in Mexico and is now feeding off the misery caused by the war. The Horror is always watching, and waiting for those unwilling or willing to meet its terms, and spread further misery in the world. The only hope of defeating it is damaging the vessel enough that it decides to go to sleep early, but other than that there is no way to kill it.

- Father Crenshaw, aged 83
(active since 1928)
The current leader for the religious cult group which has heavy sway, and influence over the town of Laggards Burrow known simply as the Faith of the First Fruit. A cult based heavily in fertility, agriculture, and sacrifice it holds heavy sway over the town, and Crenshaw took the reigns of the faith in 1928. A Kind person by all accounts he is strangely cold to most outsiders due to the secretive nature of the faith. He is more than willing to bring members into the faith, and an avid debater of religious, and philosophical matters.

- Acolyte Jessica Dunn, aged 63
(active since July 15th 1947)
A former actress she retired and bought slaves to tend to a small hold of property in Laggards Burrow. She is believed to be a member of an apocalyptic cult known as "the ten architects" which seek to cause misery, and death wherever they go. This is done in the hope that ten individuals worthy of the role will be chosen as "avatars" of the incarnation of death, and herald the end of the world. The cult seeks to bring an end to fragile mortality by inducing the world to madness and having the ten avatars of death commence a ceremony "birthing" a new world of enlightened immortals. She is potentially in Laggards Burrow awaiting a future "avatar" to cross her path so she can correct him or her to their destiny.

A fine debater by all accounts she views everything else as insignificant to the cause, and is willing to sacrifice millions to achieve the goals of her cult.

• Interesting Organizations
- Faith of the First Fruits
(Local Cult)
To the citizens of Laggards Burrow the first fruits are a religious organization like any other, and in fact, if it weren't for them the town wouldn't even exist. The original settlers were given a land grant by the Empire of Mexico in the 1870s and tried to live peacefully with local villagers who dominated the hilltops, but when one of the settlers had intimate relations with a village girl things turned incredibly sour. After months of worsening relations, a massacre happened one night leaving many settlers dead. Some settlers returning from foreign service in the Yucatan launched an offensive uphill and killed all the village men. The women were taken as wives, but sometime around 1883, a great famine struck the area, and upon hearing of the legends from one of the women a blood contract was bargained for.

A) The settlers were to move to the hills, but leave one of the hills as a preserve, and a place of natural beauty where worship could be commenced. As more, and more outsiders moved into the town the preserve became the private property of the organization, and only the faithful are allowed in.

B) An altar is erected upon the preserve where animal sacrifices are conducted each month, and the blood is left to drain into the ground. Human sacrifice is allowed as well when demanded, but only the guilty must have their bloodshed.

C) All newborns are to be consecrated in sacrificial blood before the altar and given over to the spirit. Whichever is the most pleasing of them will serve as the future "voice", and host of the spirit in order to watch over the town.

D) Every four months a grand festival of harvest, and thanks is held to the spirit, and the worshippers pray for the continuance of good crops, rain, and everlasting life.

E) The sacrifice of the innocent is forbidden and will be punished by having a blood moon appear every ten years for a whole month. During this time the vengeful souls lead by a great demon will gather to torment the town before returning to the grave to rest. Whoever murders an innocent must be sacrificed, and have their blood soak the ground as punishment. If a mother with a newborn or a child on the way dies then the murderer will be executed in a painful manner.

- The Burrows Apothecary
(Local Quasi-Medical Group)
Purveyors of folk remedies, "medicines", spirits, and other things the Apothecary is an establishment noted for its bizarre list of shop goers among other things. The owner is a quiet old woman reportedly born back when the idea of secessionism was a fantasy, and nothing more. Expect slow, but quality service here, and for the more occult-oriented there might be something here especially if you sign up as a member for a small monthly fee of course.

- Doctor of Black, and Whites Famous Circus
(Traveling Freak Show)
Run by the mysterious doctor of black, and white he travels all over Mexico, and his current stop due in part to the war effort is here in Laggards Burrow. He is currently putting on big shows every Friday with daily viewings for a small fee permitted as well. - Papa Jacks Drinkery
(Drinking Club, and Subversive Society)
Reportedly run by the Warlord Papa Jack himself who is paying the town a sizeable donation of Imperial Dollars to look the other way. By all accounts, it is a respectable, and private drinking club. Some people say poetry, and literature reading happens regularly during the meetings. Of course, sometimes these readings take more politically charged terms involving anarchism, and pirates.

-Club Fortune
(Eccentric Club, and potential site of a cosmic horror)
An open club run by a mysterious, and rarely seen manager where singing, dancing, and drinking take place nightly. Every now, and then someone will go missing from the Club, and the police never look into it all the much for whatever reason. Locals of respectable repute avoid the place due to the reputation it has. It is unfortunately often the best place to gather information, and every week has a special sunday night party where guests in an elaborate dress come out to party. Of course, no one can ever seem to find out where these guests vanish too once the party is over for some odd reason.

The Good Death
(Strange Society Meeting Hall)
Run by the former actress Jessica Dunn she manages weekly meets on the nature of death, and how to achieve immortality. She is known for being very politically charged praising the actions of Soviet suicide bombers for their courage in emphasizing just how fragile life is. Despite being a society almost everyone is welcome to attend her meetings, and engage in lengthy conversations with the woman herself.

-The Imperial Society
(Mainstream Society)
There are no secrets here outside of the fact the majority of the ruling families in Laggards Burrow subscribe to the beliefs posited here. They distrust all the cults, and other eccentrics of Laggards Burrow, and want a clean, and peaceful society in its stead. They aren't in denial about the state of the world either, and the society leaders will assure you it will get better if humanity soldiers on through all the wars.

The current teachers are all outsiders for the moment, but they are aging, and the need to train their replacements will soon become apparent.

- The Markets
A row of shops, and stores in downtown proper Laggards Burrow with the oldest of them being the famous apothecary with an owner known for dabbling a bit in the occult. For obvious reasons, the Temple is restricted to members of the Mormon Faith who have met the proper qualifications to enter.

The repair charges a decent price to fix motor carriages, and do them being the only one around it isn't like you can go anywhere else.

- Papa Jacks Drinkery
Owned by the quasi-warlord, and professional militant anarchist Papa Jack due to his avid fascination with all kinds of spirits the world over, and it serves all people to an extent. The extra guests vanish into the dark, and no one can ever seem to find them until next week.

Outer District

- Meddlers Lake
A decently sized lake that locals attend here on their off time taking their dates or families here for some fun. With the war effort preventing all forays too far outside of town people are coming to the lake in droves to relax. For a small fee, you can rent boats, and go out on the lake for a day. The lake still has houses for rent albeit they are older dating back to the original settlement, and the unfortunate massacre that happened during the night of the blood moon. Reportedly every ten years for a whole month a blood moon occurs, and the souls of the vengeful dead rise out of the lake to harass the town.

-Travelers Rest
A rundown inn with basic amenities for those whose trains haven't come yet, and often the first stop for visitors. The owner is a third generation hotel operator and runs things in a certain style. -The Slave Quarters
Plain houses that house the several thousand strong populations of Slaves who labor day, and night under the supervision of the hardworking, and desperate Irish immigrant population. - The Fields
Utterly massive fields that go for miles, and grow crops of all types that keep the slaves busy until nightfall. The fields are carefully marked, and slaves work in teams so as to not get lost. The fields help disincentivize any attempt to escape due to the fact people can get lost in them, and die during the panic of trying to escape.

• Conditions
-The Infestation
You have failed to defeat the Doctor of Black and White, but you did damage him enough for his body to perish. You feel strange but confident that his reign of terror is over...yet something doesn't seem entirely right.

+You feel a strange surge in power when it comes to abilities, your strength, and mental clarity.
-A voice in the back of your head develops and grows stronger with the passing of the weeks.
-You start to lose control of your body in small ways that don't seem off at first but will eventually become too noticeable to ignore.
-Your grasp on reality is being challenged and attacked by something parasitizing off you.

- The Ritual
From the Doctor of Black, and White you have learned the ancient and arcane secrets to extending your life, but be warned this will have consequences.

+You have made the contract with an entity simply known as the "horror", and as a result, you are guaranteed a well-expanded lifespan if not eternal life.
-The contract must be sealed by mutilation of a part of your body, and it will never truly heal leaving this mark as a consequence for your actions.
-You must make a sacrifice to the horror in order to complete the ritual, and the steps must be followed exactly. The Horror will only be satisfied if the blood drains into the ground.

- One with the Elements
You have contracted a bit of power from Gunther Abbot, and now have a power that is either electricity, fire, air, water, light, or earth.
+ You feel an immense surge in your abilities as you become one with the earth.
- Knowing what you know is that the abilities will eventually transform you into a being that represents your element in its purest form or causes you to disintegrate by age fifty.

- The Servants Blessing
The Servants blessing is granted by the Mistress in order to set the poor, homeless, and non-Mormons on the path of righteousness, and service to God.
+The servants blessing grants you a long lifespan so long as you serve the Mistress.
+ You gain access to enhanced agility, senses, and speed.
- You need to take blood every two days or risk growing weak in the sun.
- Every forty years you will need to complete a blood ritual with the Mistress to ensure the "blessing" continues to work.
-Limit your exposure to the sun unless you slowly lose your strength and vitality.

-The Night Brethrens Blessing
The Mistress has found you worthy as a fellow member of the faith and granted you access to the most sacred blessing.
+You are now immortal until the end times come, and you must face judgment like the rest of humanity so be wise, and use your gifts to further the rightful faith.
+ You have incredible agility, speed, and senses, but must also sleep during the daytime in order to have better use of your abilities.
- You cannot stand for more than an hour in the sun at all as it boils you away from the inside.
- You need blood every 12 hours, but only a drop to keep the blessing inside you working.
- Try your best to resist your hunger for if you slay someone then you will be cursed as a beast until you redeem yourself.

- The Death of the Mistress
The guardian lady of the Mormon Faith is dead, but not without cost to you as the cursed blood which bound, and "blessed" her has transferred over to you as a last ditch effort by her to ensure a legacy.
+ You are completely immortal and very powerful with enhanced agility, speed, and senses.
- You crave blood every six hours, and cannot go out into the sun out all without extreme protection on to ward off its rays from you.
- Mirrors are completely abhorrent to you as is garlic, and several cooking herbs.
+ You can fashion Golems out of clay, but for the time being, can only do one at a time.

- The Watch of Time
You have entered into a contract with Papa Jack becoming unkillable, but your actions have consequences.
-You may be unkillable, but you can still be hurt, and death will not come for you to offer relief.
+ As long as you control your watch you can slightly manipulate time to your favor, and the more time spent studying it means the more time you can learn to control.
- Expending time abilities cost energy, and you will need to sleep in order to replenish it, and using too much energy can force you into a coma for a little bit or worse send your soul wandering around without a body.

- The Shards of the Gods
You did the unthinkable, and killed Papa Jack, but not without it costing you as parts of his watch have penetrated your body corrupting it.
+ You are now ageless, but can still be killed if enough force is used.
+ Your wounds can regenerate thanks to the shards within you.
+ You can control time somewhat, but not to the extent you would have been able to if you had a full watch.
- You will often need to rest twice as long due to the state of corruption in your body.

- The Soul Fisher
You have freed the souls trapped by the Horror at club Fortune, and as such you gain access to powerful relics which can aid you in the battle against the Horror

- The Defiant
You have beaten the horror, and its host in combat by using the relics granted to you, and for a time the horror will sleep until it rises again, but be wary it will be prepared the next time you two meet.

- The Host
You have destroyed the previous host of the Horror, but couldn't set the Horror back to sleep in time. Instead, thanks to a binding ritual the Horror is now restricted to your body through a relic worn on a necklace.
- The Horror will plague you in your dreams, and slowly work trying to corrupt you into the new host over a span of decades.
+ You will become more resistant to damage, and have greater senses, and agility, but be careful of your sanity.
- Your sanity will be tested, and if it fails you will become the new host.

- The New Host
Either by failing to defeat the Horror the right way or by failing to keep your sanity in check the Horror has consumed you, and you now in some way serve its will in spreading misfortune, and misery in your wake.
- You are subject to the wild whims of the Horror regardless of what it wants.
+ You can slowly infect citizens of the town, and assimilate them into the "collected" which will transform upon your demand
+ You grow in strength and have enhanced agility, senses, and other powers.
- You slowly start to lose your emotional ties to humanity and become like the Horror feeding off emotions.

- A New Recruit
You have joined the Faith of the First Fruits and passed through the trials, and tribulations before you.
+ You will have access to the Faith only areas, and partake in their rituals.
- Many in the town outside the Faith will not trust you as much and look at you differently considering you a target of hate or at the very least distrust

-The Path to the Faith
You increase in the rank of the faith, and learn of a lineage which has brought you back to Laggard's Burrow.
+You are able to commune directly with the Spirit as one of its chosen and have access to a second "vision" granting you truths about the reality of this world.
+You are able to project your soul in an out of body experience temporarily and wander the land around Laggards Burrow in your dreams.
-You will not be able to leave Laggards Burrow and are stuck here for the rest of your life.

The Voice of the Faith
You have been chosen by the Spirit for the ultimate privilege to serve as the voice, and defender of the faith.
+ You have a greatly expanded lifespan and are capable of possessing animals using your soul during an out of body experience.
+ You can temporarily possess people who are susceptible to you by influencing their thoughts
+ You and the spirit are one thus leaving you able to shed your body if it is a true danger.
+ During times of great crisis you can call upon the souls of the deceased faithful to rise up, and defend Laggards Burrow.
- You are subject to the whims, and fancies of the spirit thus your actions may be incredibly erratic at times.

- Ghoulification
A ghoul has infected you spreading their taint within your veins, and now it may be weeks or even months before you become one of them, and join the ranks of the undead. Can you use the resources at hand delay the infection, and find a cure for your affliction before you join the ranks of the soul cursed?
- You will start having rot around the area of infection within the first few days, and have to find ways to cover the smell.
- You will start getting skinnier, and skinner all the while hungering for raw flesh and must find ways to satiate the hunger before you turn on a human.
-Your hair will start to fall out, and you must find ways to cover the areas of your skin undergoing the spreading ghoulification.
+ You will become stronger, have a great sense of smell, and become faster as your body transforms, but the stronger you become the more likely you are to join the horde.

-Deathly Journeyman
Lady Dunn has convinced you to her cause, and now you are under her tutelage as an entry level into the apocalypse cult you are apart of.
+ You gain access to a wide network of information, and beginning rituals to practice, and develop.
- The town views you with suspicion due you spending too much time with Lady Dunn in her more occult pursuits.

-Deathly Mage
You continue to learn the secrets of the cult and have chosen to focus on the spells provided to you by Lady Dunn, and other members of the cult.
+ You gain even greater access to information as well as secret routes around town, and access to the underground lair of the Dunn Mansion.
+ You learn the secrets of the soul as well as finding ways to expanding your lifespan.
+ You can begin communing with avatars of death and find ways to master your trade.
- Your reputation with the town continues to sink even further as they become more suspicious of you, and this means you may have to rely on your fellow cultists to trade goods, and find jobs.

-Shadowman
As a cultist you have chosen to focus on the arts of stealth, espionage, and the secretive world of intelligence.
+ You have access to an invisibility power that can be used once per day, and you can manipulate time in limited ways.
+ You gain a bonus operating at night and can become one with the fog to hide from your enemies.
- You become incredibly shy with people in the daytime due to your nighttime activities, and preference. Your energy also saps in the daytime due to your unique powers.

- The Brawler
You have chosen to use what nature gave you, and focus on your strength as a positive force for the cult.
+ You gain access to an action which allows you to use an unnatural amount of strength once per day but be aware that this action isn't subtle.
+ You have greater agility, and dexterity in regards to many things, and can even take a few bullets before the damage starts to become apparent.
- You will not be as good with actions requiring diplomatic solutions, and if you don't keep your anger in check will be prone to an enraged state.

- Avatar of Death
Under the night of the blood moon Lady Dunn and other cultists have bore witness to the fact that an architect has chosen you as an avatar of death.
+ Under the blood moon, your abilities increase threefold in whatever category you chose to pursue.
- You will become a shut-in meditating to gather your power in preparation for a complex ceremony to bring forth an architect into the world.
+ You can convince cultists to fight to the death to preserve your life in case you have been found out as the avatar.

-I am become Death
You have completed the ritual becoming one with one of the ten architects, and now seek to bring an end to the old world bringing forth madness, and enlightenment to the masses.
+You can choose to honor the cultist's requests for immortality, and power or kill them, and use their souls to power your quests.
+ You can take control of all remaining ghouls, and all the souls of the vengeful dead, and lead them on an assault on the town.
- You must survive the final night of the blood moon in order to become an incredible power avatar as destiny meant you to be.
+ You can cause madness by forcing episodes of enlightenment or homicidal mania upon the townsfolk of Laggards Burrow.
- You must defeat the voice of the spirit of the first fruits, and all others who would challenge your right to this dying world.

• High Risk Challenges
- Taking on the Doctor of Black, and White
You have found enough evidence, and gathered a crew of loyal individuals to help take on, and bring down the Doctor of Black, and White. You, of course, could choose to take him on and hope to fully defeat him, and vanquish the evil he represents or at least destroy the body he currently inhabits, after all, what is the harm in that? Of course what if he offers you the secret that has nourished him, and his family for generations would you accept it?

- Face to face with the Boxer
Through sheer will, and determination you have beat the opponents the infamous Steel Face has sent before you and uncovered the truth about the man. Will you face him in the ring, and bring him down honorably? Will you involve law enforcement in order to bring him to justice. Of course, the man could very well offer you the greatest bribe of all, and connect you to elemental power by transferring a bit of his power to you. For all you know it could be a trick, but what you do is up to you.

-The Fall of the Mistress
After gathering sufficient information, support, and evidence you can choose to confront the Mistress should you have chosen to reject her offers if she had found you worthy. Under the cover of the night either alone or with a crew of loyal men and women you brave into her residence to face the cursed defender of Mormonism. Defeat her, and perhaps the faith will take a new turn but don't defeat her in time, and she may choose to flee. If you do defeat her, however, but don't do it before she slips some of her blood into you then you will become the new face of the faith as you transform into what you just slew.

-Freeing Club Fortune
You either alone or with a group of loyal friends choose to brave the trials set to you by the Horror, and confront his host the mysterious manager. Should you be able to defeat him, and break the traps the souls will be freed, but you could accept his offer for power, and make a contract with the horror itself. Should you pursue the cause of righteousness, however, freeing the souls of the Club will put them at ease, and reward you with relics to help you along with future quests including a six-shooter containing bullets that can kill nearly anything in creation.

-Facing the Horror
With Club Fortune freed the Horror is absolutely livid and has revealed its true form ready to challenge you, and your group for daring to do what you have done. By the end of the night, one of three outcomes will happen, and whether the town will be better for it remains to be seen for the moment.

-Papa Jacks wrath
By sabotage or other means the warlord has chosen to act against Laggards Burrow and send his militia against it. You can either choose to side with Papa Jack or against him in defense of the town.

-The Republic of Laggards Burrow
Papa Jack has enforced his twisted vision of a pirate style republic, and anarchist militia upon Laggards Burrow. The slaves are freed, and a "constitution" is drawn up for all to adhere to but in the distant the guns of Columbia roar.

-The Fall of Papa Jack
Papa Jacks militias have failed to take Laggards Burrow or have fallen to the Columbian offensive, and the citizen's militia is mopping up the remnants. Papa Jack and a few core supporters are held up in the drinkery, and must be taken down.

- The Guns Roar
An up, and coming General out of Mexico City is under orders from General Commander of Mexico Nathan Bedford Forrest the III to retake Laggards Burrow by any means necessary. Columbian Loyalists can report to the camp in the outer district, and prepare to lead an assault to liberate the town. Those loyal to the new republic can choose to stay and fight beside the reportedly unkillable man.

- The Republic Survives
The ramshackle republic led by Papa Jack managed to repel the Columbian offensive, and for now remains staunchly independent. Those who sided with the Columbians will most likely be executed, but for now, Papa Jack has to rebuild Laggards Burrow

- The Fall of the Republic
The Republic that Papa Jack dreamt of has fallen, and the Columbian's are purging disloyal elements of the town, and imposing direct military order for the time being including a new mayor.

- Attack of the Ghouls
The town hasn't been rebuilt much before bad news arrives at you in Laggards Burrow. All over the world the dead are rising to feast on the living, and things seem to get worse the closer it gets to the blood moon. A massive horde of Ghouls have broken through Columbian lines in the South, and are heading directly to Laggards Burrow, and you must defend the town at all cost.

-Joining the Faith
Something is drawing you to the primitive yet refined cult that dominates the center of Laggards Burrow, and though you can't question it at the moment you decide to join the Faith and undergo the initiation rituals.

-Path to becoming the Voice
Something continues to change within you as you gain greater, and greater access to unique abilities, and powers. Even the spirit of the faith itself communicates with you, and you come to believe you may be the next voice of the faith. You undergo unique missions in order to refine your talents and prove yourself ultimately worthy as the voice.

- Finding the Cure
Unlikely for you during the battle with Ghouls you seemed to somehow contract the infection, and now you must race against time to find a cure before giving into the infection, and starting a new ghoul epidemic here in Laggards Burrow.

-The Path of Death
Will you undertake the path of death, and seek to transfigure the world away from frail mortality to enlightened immortality? Thanks to constant debates with Lady Jessica Dunn she seems to have won you over, and you have joined the path of an ever-growing cult.

-The month of the blood moon
The vengeful souls of the dead have risen up led by a great haunting force to trouble, and harass the town during the month of the blood moon. Meanwhile, news from all over the world indicates the apocalypse has truly kickstarted, and cults are springing up everywhere. Reportedly 9 of the ten architects have been found, and there remains just one.

-The Transfiguration
You have chosen to undergo the ritual identifying you as the vessel for the architect, one of the ten avatars of death who upon the end will merge as one, and end the old world.

-The Ceremony
The cultists of death have gathered, and begun the ceremony you must try, and delay or you the new vessel must defend the ceremony grounds as militia assaults the house of Lady Dunn.

- The Beginning of the End
The members of the first fruit have retreated to the hill of faith as the town of Laggards Burrow is under siege by cultists, and its own members who have gone mad. The souls of the vengeful dead are everywhere, and ghouls are popping up so those left if sensible should retreat to the hill of faith in order to get a brief respite. The voice of the faith gathers support wherever it can be found in order to fight the fledgling, but still very powerful Avatar in the final hours of the blood moon.

- The Battle of the Blood Moon
The voice of the faith, and the avatar of death duke it out amongst the final hours of the blood moon to determine who will control the fate of the new world. Will the forces of the local cult and Laggards Burrow triumph, and keep the current order? With the force of the new order, and an end to mortality triumph initiating a global holocaust of madness, enlightenment, and ecstasy? That is all decided in the final hours of the Blood Moon.
