I didn't mean that. If that happened there would be no Orthodox, No Protestants, No Catholics, No Shias, No Sunnis, No Jews, No Buddhists, No Hindus, No Confucians, just one united Christianity. But, nah. This omnipowerful, omnipresent, omnibenevolent god instead hides behind a cloud and has his word spread through a book which has conflicting messages, stories, and interpretations and is spread by greedy and faliable men and women who can and will purposly stretch the bible to fit their specific cultural and personal values.

Because little would change overall. If He came down right now and did that I guarantee you there would still be other religions, and even atheists. Some people would refuse to submit and bow and violently lash out at those who do. Why? Because humans trust no one. Why would they all trust someone so powerful they defy, oppose, and embody logic simultaneously? Right now, you aren't trusting the disciples who wrote the Bible nor the Bible itself.

Do you seriously have such a lack of faith in the intelligence of humans?

If the flying spagetti monster came down and told you "I exist, so eat spagetti every sunday or I will turn you into an apple" you're going to eat spagetti every sunday. Just the same as if Yaweh came down and said told every individual "I exist, so worship me every sunday or you will burn in hell". The difference between this scenario and Jesus is that Jesus was a carpenter that claimed to be god, in this scenario this higher being literally came down from the sky with a lot of fanfare and told every single individual the exact same thing in their exact same cultural language.

Is the entire thing bogus? Also, didn't some guy get eaten by a whale in the New Testemant? If some things in the book are exaggerated and other aren't, how are you supposed to know which is and which isn't? Perhaps the whole thing is exaggerated and up to interpetation, meaning morality is subjective, or the whole thing is supposed to be taken literally and it's perfectly to commit genocide just so long as god told you to. You cannot have both.

Buddha's morals didn't help me in my life, so why should I believe he was correct. I wouldn't consider him omnipotent since he hasn't displayed omniscience. God has displayed to me that His morals are correct, thus I believe in Him.

So, just because Buddha's morals didn't help you personally, they're incorrect? For somebody who claims that morals are objective cuz god, this seems like a very subjective way to define what morals are correct.

Yes. I've found Jesus' word to be objectively true through my own experience. It is a fact that I feel better and am better as a person after I stopped doing many wrongs I had justified to myself. Not only that, but if Jesus was correct about morality, then he is more likely to be correct about being the Savior of Man. Which means God exists, and if God exists he would know what is right and is wrong because he is both Omniscient and decided what was wrong and right when he created the universe, therefore they are objective.

It's understandable that you wouldn't trust a book so old and propagated by fallible humans, I dont trust someone who asks to borrow a pencil. Once again, Suffering and Evil are required for Happiness and Good.

Omnipotence is why it's possible, but apart from that there is no scientific evidence for the Trinity. It's one of the more confusing parts of Christianity. Jesus claimed the trinity was a thing as he consistently refers to the Father and the Holy Spirit.

It's understandable that you wouldn't trust a book so old and propagated by infallible humans, I dont trust someone who asks to borrow a pencil. Once again, Suffering and Evil are required for Happiness and Good.

So many fallacies in this one. First off, how did you find "Jesus' word" (how do you know it's his word; who is Jesus, etc, etc?) to be objectively true? Just because you found it useful doesn't make it true. Even if this word was correct about 1 thing, it doesn't automatically mean or even imply it is more likely to be correct about another, especially if that other thing is as vague and absurd as "Savior of Man". Even granting all of that, you still have all your work cut out for you to prove that any god exists, let alone this one particular flavor you've picked. But even if God did exist and they were the God of the New Testament that does not mean that they would by default know right from wrong. Also, you cannot have objective morality if you have one agent deciding what constitutes morality -- that's the very definition of a subjective morality: whatever God says is right, is right. If tomorrow they say eating babies is moral, it would be moral according to your logic. Objective morality is achieved through principles and premises that go beyond the sensibilities of a single individual. That includes a deity.

Lastly, you probably meant "fallible" not "infallible" humans. But even if you disregard all of the above, the fact that this supposedly benevolent being sits around and does not, for instance, cure cancer on little children is all you need to know about their real benevolence. If I had their power, I wouldn't even think about it -- I'd do it in an instant. And no, free will isn't an excuse. They made this mess, they should clean it up. If they're really omniscient, then they would know what they would be getting themselves into but yet they went ahead and did it anyway. A truly scummy move, I'll tell you what.

If your commanders are surprised every time they lose a squad, they probably die several minutes into a campaign due to being critically over-gasped.

North Valinka: What kind of an oxymoron is "Libertarian Police State"?
Petroviya: It arrests law makers.

Of course democracy is the way, dammit! There is no such thing as too much democracy!

Fuckin' dictatorships.

800 million out of 8 billion is no larger than what 10 is to 100, stats 101. FYI, even the nominal number of poor people has decreased, so hooray I guess?
