Saint Émelie Roster For World Cup 81

Saint Émelie mark their arrival on the world cup cycle scene with the 68th Baptism of Fire in Farfadillis and Semarland and the 81st World Cup.

Team Information:

Style Mod: +2
Nickname: Les Insulaires
Team Colours: Blue and white
Captain: Florian Bastereud
Formation: 4-4-2 (diamond)

The Team:

Head Coach: Amélie Martín

45 year old Amélie Martín is the lady tasked with managing the team for their world cup debut and has a tough job on her hands. Like the majority of the squad, it will be her first time away from the island of Saint Émelie and with her only experience to call upon being in the hugely undeveloped Ligue d'Ile and 3 AOCAF games, she is still well out of her depth.
Martín played for around 15 years in that league before making the switch to management. The Saint Émelie FA believes that she is therefore the person with the most thorough understanding of football on the island and is as good a person as any to make the trip abroad.

Assistant Coach: Jacques Barre

Alongside Martín will be the experienced head of Jacques Barre. The 58 year old also once played in the Ligue d'Ile, but finished early due to injury and 'not being able to run like he used to.' Since then, he has managed 3 of the island's teams, getting to know many of Saint Émelie's best players in the process.
Despite his increased experience relative to Martín, Barre lacks the dynamic approach to management preferred by the island's footballing authorities. His tactical mind will however provide a calm word in Martín's ear when needed.

Team Doctor and Physio: Antonin Gardinier

Gardinier has little to no experience with sports injuries or fitness management, but as the island's best general doctor, was picked to make the trip to the Equestrian States as he would 'have to do.' He has a fairly hands on approach to medicine and players will probably be hoping they remain injury-free throughout the tournament due to fear of a good prodding and Gardinier's tendency to opt for surgery when possible rather than when neccessary.

Goalkeepers:

#1-Hubért Joubert-age 32-Stade Barbotteau
#12-Caroline Chapelle-age 24-CA Le Goutiér
#23-Robin Patenaude-age 27-Racing Montmirail

The experienced Joubert will be Saint Émelie's number one throughout the cycle. The 32 year old has established a reputation as the best all-round goalkeeper on the island and has particularly impressive distribution with his range of kicks and throws. He is also solid with crosses, but his shot-stopping skills will recieve more of an examination against international opposition compared to at home.
Caroline Chapelle is very much the understudy in the team. The 24 year old is an excellent shot stopper, but is less experieced and ultimately deficient in the areas where Joubert is strong. This may keep her out of the starting lineup for now, but she is here to learn and will almost certainly take over the starting role one day.
Robin Patenaude is decent by island standards, but is really only in the squad as injury cover and to have a nice time. If Saint Émelie actually end up playing him, they will be desparate and will probably lose.

Wide Defenders:

#2-RB-Charléne Forestier-age 23-CA Le Goutier
#5-LB-Max Lestiénne-age 28-CF Savenay
#13-RB-Paul Gasquet-age 25-Stade Barbotteau
#16-LB-Chloé Travert-age 21-Stade de Saint Marie

Saint Émelie's selection of full-backs is also a mixed bag. Max Lestiénne is the only player over 25 of the four players chosen, but the additional domestic experience will probably count for nothing in the international arena.
Saint Émelie's teams generally try to play with quick full-backs, using them to push up the pitch and provide an additional option for attacking players. This usually requires high fitness levels and will be even more testing for the players against better-quality opposition.
This is provided by a youthful lineup that includes up-and-coming Le Goutier player Charléne Forestier as well as 21 year old Chloé Travert, who despite her young age has already become one of the talents in the Saint Émelie league to watch in the coming months and years.
Rather like Robin Patenaude, Paul Gasquet is very much just along for the ride, but will provide reasonably coherent cover if needed.

Central Defenders:

#3-Daniel Bouchard-age 32-CF Duport
#4-Mignon Laureille-age 29-Stade Barbotteau
#14-Emeli Pied-age 27-CF Soufriére
#15-Claude Leclerc-age 24-CA Le Goutier

Saint Émeli's central defenders are the polar opposites to their wide counterparts. Big, powerful and not afraid to put in a strong tackle, they are certainly up to the physical challenge posed by any opposition, even internationally.
Daniel Bouchard and Mignon Laureille, who is anything but sweet, are the epitomy of this and despite their lack of pace, sitting deep and heading stuff out of the danger zone has become a common practice.
Their slowness will almost certainly be exposed by stronger opposition, but their prescence may frustrate, for a little while at least.

Midfielders:

CDM-#6-Florian Bastereud-age 32-CF Dupont
RM-#7-Florence Caseille-age 24-CF Savenay
CAM-#8-Simon Pelletier-age 30-CF Soufriére
LM-#9-Mathilde Laurent-age 26-CF Riviera
CM-#17-Laurent Michaud-age 25-Stade de Saint Marie
RW-#18-Emeli Fontaine-age 28-Stade Barbotteau
LW-#19-Tomas Cousineau-age 20-Racing Montmirail
CAM-#20-Jadine Dupont-age 26-CF Le Goutier

The midfield diamond is probably the most experienced of the Saint Émelie setup, although everything is of course relative. Florian Bastereud is the key component, with the 32 year old both the team's captain and midfield enforcer. The wings are also important however. Play in Saint Émelie requires fast movement of the ball to negate some fairly rustic pitches and will often be fed out to the wide players. Florence Caseille is a massive talent on the right whilst Mathilde Laurent is now an established name on the island and can deliver a fantastic set piece.

Simon Pelletier is often the intermediate between defense and attack, but has a keen eye for a through ball, both over the top and through the middle of a defense. He is probably the team's best chance of scoring from distance as well. The 30 year old has scored many times in the Ligue d'Île from outside of the penalty area and will look to notch a few more in the coming international season.

Forwards:

#10-Marine Fouché-age 29-CF Savenay
#11-Dominic Trion-age 25-Stade Barbotteau
#21-Marizanne Proliné-age 23-CF Riviera
#22-Sara Katjanović-age 28-FK SavaFluss (in Mattijana)

Sara Katjanović is very much the star player in this Saint Émelie side and is also the only player operating outside of Saint Émelie. The third-choice Savafluss striker has a Mattijanan father and a mother from the island and fortunately, can handle both the Mattijanan and French languages.

As a player, she is a real poacher. Diminutive in stature, the 28 year old knows how to find the back of the net and knows where to position herself to do it, complementing the pace and crossing style from the wingers.

Dominic Trion joins Katjanović up top and brings a very different skill set. Big, tall and handy in the air, he is much clumsier than his more agile partner, but even though opponents may know his game, dealing with it could be more of a challenge.

Tactical Notes:

Saint Émelie's isolation means that the style of football has deviated rather a lot compared to the rest of the world. It is in fact rather agricultural, with a lot of physical challenges and strong aerial play.
This means that the team will inevitably pick up cards. No malice is meant, but the physicality of the team will mean that injuries may occur.

Otherwise, Saint Émelie's style of football is actually fairly easy on the eye. Quick passing from front to back as well as movement on the wings is the game-plan and when it pays off, it looks great.
When it doesn't, it looks like an incoherent mess and if fans wish to be realistic, this is probably what they will get for the most part against some high-class defenses.

Recent Results:
Saint Émelie 4-2 South Toronto (AOCAF)
Saint Emelie 0-2 Mriin (AOCAF)

World Cup 2125 A.D. Roster

Postby Ndaku » Mon Aug 20, 2018 12:52 pm

Player, to better understand the derivation of certain human/non-human issues in Ndaku, please read (at the very least, skim) through the National factbook. Also, because classes resume soon and there are IRL responsibilities I need to attend to, I went ahead and constructed an RP Post that has just about everything you need to know about Ndaku in-context for this World Cup. Feel free to RP substitutions, yellow and red cards, and any other drama/affairs that come to mind, all except death or killing, and feel free to telegram me any concerns or questions. Thank you, may God continue to bless you, and have fun!

'Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.' (II Timothy 4:1-5 NKJV)

Roster of the Golden Throne of the Macabees

Returning to international football after a long, long absence, the Golden Throne's national football team is guided by a more defensive approach to the game. The team will play with a 4-5-1 formation, more likely than not, with a combination of wingers or midfielders to match and/or control the tempo of the game.

MANAGERIAL STAFF
Manager: Xander McDrew
The new manager rather failed in the Copa Rushmori but has an interesting set of friendlies scheduled to ramp the team up for the World Cup. With a strong playing career McDrew returned to the team with hopes of bringing them back to the World Cup, something the team hadn't managed to do during his playing career.

GOALKEEPERS

1 – Jacob Jingleheimer-Smitt – Blacklake Blues 60 Caps, 25 Years Old
The starter for the national team is great at advancing the play forward. He has a ball playing ability, and a general sweeper keeper type. That said he can make random mistakes and hasn't exactly been the most skillful against some shots.

12 – Elvis Pacabel - Atlantea Hurricanes 1 Cap, 24 Years Old
The third-string keeper.

24– Esteban Foh – X Island Marauders 3 Caps, 20 Years Old
Esteban Foh has managed to now earn more caps than Elvis Pacabel and continues to be a nice option moving forward for the national team. A strong shot-stopper he could see a few starts in this campaign.

DEFENDERS

2 - LB, Alex Turniquette – X Island Marauders 83 Caps, 1 Goal, 27 Years Old
The speedy Left back sat out most of the Copa Rushmori due to injury, but returns to the national team with most of his speed still intact. That was a worry, but he is still an incredible defense option and will be on the team for likely two more qualifying campaigns.

3 - CB, Jamie Fasnacht – Blacklake Blues 56 Caps, 0 Goals, 24 Years Old
The ball-playing and more tactful centerback of the two is Jamie Fasnacht and he has managed to make a comfortable national team career so far. Him and Edison Trueblood have played their whole careers together, and that seems unlikely to change anytime soon.

4 - CB, Edison Trueblood – Blacklake Blues 56 Caps, 1 Goal, 24 Years Old
The strong half of the center back duo Edison Trueblood is good with his head and can score off a corner, but does have a rather uncanny ability to get a yellow card. This could see Daigo Coshan get 2-3 starts due to yellow card accumulation this season.

5 - RB, Alexander Kaiba - Real Atlantea 96 Caps, 29 Years Old
Alexander Kaiba is a strong right fullback and while he has lost a bit of his speed he is still one of the best fullbacks in the nation. While he has long been a national teamer he is getting close to his career's end, but hopefully for him he will reach his cap century before the end.

14- Seth Green– Knightspurs 7 Caps, 0 Goals, 23 Years Old
Seth Green was given a chance to start in the Copa Rushmori and proved rather serviceable. The main fullback option on the bench he is a great option, but Daigo Coshan seems like a good option to replace a much less mobile Alexander Kaiba in the future.

21 – Daigo Coshan – Laketown Rangers 4 Caps, 20 Years Old
A strong center back Daigo Coshan spent a year on loan and walked back into the Laketown Rangers starting lineup. He now seems the strongest option on the center back on the bench, and he is a really talented player. And could also be a fullback option moving forward.

23- Nelson Cartwright – Fadron Flight 3 Caps, 23 Years Old
The defensive cover for both positions Nelson Cartwright is not nearly as good as anyone else in the defensive group, but continues to be called up as a glue guy. While he won't likely see the field a lot he is a viable option on the bench.

MIDFIELDERS

6- CDM, Randall Abl Bakr – Tintown Terrapins 71 Caps, 3 Goals, 23 Years old
Randall Abl Bakr is not afraid to do the dirty work the Purple Knights need to get the job done. With a mindset that is so focused around playing well defensively and keeping the opposition from scoring.

6 - LM, Janson Jewsbury – Laketown Rangers 93 Caps, 5 Goals, 28 Years Old Vice-Captain
The Vice-Captain is a strong player and has one of the best left foots in the Premier League and the nation of Taeshan. He continues to be the best option on free kicks and is catching up to his longtime teammate, Enrique Fuegahita, in assists rather rapidly.

10- CAM, Enrique Fuegahita – Real Chinchinhua 135 Caps, 12 Goals, 30 Years Old
Unlike Miles Snavely, Enrique Fuegahita has announced that this will be the last year in Purple and Gold, and while not having the storied history that Snavely does he has been impressive in his time, and is among the all time leaders in assists in team history.

11 - RM, Geoffrey Klingenberg - Knightspurs 39 Caps, 4 Goals, 22 Years Old
The real attacking talent on the field Klingenberg has adapted well to a wing position, while naturally a central midfielder he is the likely threat to whip in a good cross from anywhere on the field, and could take over at CAM and force someone else to the wing in the future.

15 – Kalvin Talbot – Bayern Phoenix 4 Caps, 23 Years Old
An option as a central midfielder and as a wing Kalvin Talbot isn't exactly a great option but gets the job done, and could see a spot start as the manager does trust him to play a full game.

17- Sahler Moon – Real Atlantea 8 Caps, 1 Goal, 23 Years Old
The likely future on the Left side of Midfield Sahler Moon is the best attacking wing option on the bench. He does many things well and also has a strong ability on free kicks. He can be an option with his head as well if the other free kick options are on the field.

18 – Coswalt Kline – Los Riosa Monstas 1 Cap, 23 Years Old
A central midfield option. Coswalt Kline is not the sexiest player on the field, but he can kill games and could be an option as a defensive midfielder, or as a wing player in an attempt to kill off games.

19 – Alson Figeuroa - Fadron Flight 0 Caps, 20 Years Old
The main attacking midfielder on the bench is Alson Figeuroa. With a strong ability to find the heads of players, and nifty chipped through ball Figueroa is known for getting in the heads of defenders with his calm ability on the ball.

20 – Aston Shelby- Los Riosa Monstas - 6 Caps, 22 Years Old
One of the more interesting options on the bench, Aston Shelby can play basically anywhere on the pitch and could see time on either wing or in attacking midfield. He can also play as a fullback in a pinch, though that will hopefully not happen quite a lot.

22 – Wallace Kepler – Tintown Terrapins 1 Cap, 20 Years Old
One of the youngest players on the squad Wallace Kepler is a strong option from Tintown and could see some action as a wide sub to help score goals, and can get a nice cross in with either foot if necessary.

STRIKERS

7 - RS, Aleksandr Denisov – Oldhem Knights (Apox) 56 Caps, 12 Goals, 27 Years Old
Miles Snavely has had some interesting second strikers but Denisov is definitely the best of them, perhaps it is too bad for Snavely that it was in the second half of his career that the Apox based player started impressing. The speedy player continues to be a big part of the team and could look to continue to score some nice goals off of the fact that Snavely is such a focus of opposing defenses.

8 - LS, Miles Snavely – Laketown Rangers 177 Caps, 103 Goals, 33 Years Old Captain
The Captain has not officially announced the plan to retire, but a thirty-five year old being the main option for the national team seems unlikely so this very well could be the last chance for the Laketown man to qualify for a world cup. Something he surely deserves after his long career.

13 – Orlando Jiminez – Fadron Flight 1 Cap, 0 Goals, 22 Years Old
The older bench striker Orlando Jiminez is honestly probably not a longterm option for the national team, even with an aging front two. A strong performance here or there can be expected from the young player, but he does not seem likely to be in the plans for awhile.

16 – Silian Cantebury – Mierton Manatees 4 Caps, 20 Years Old
Maybe Silian Cantebury is not the future of the Taeshan striking corps as the Purple Knights have some younger players coming up, but he has a chance to make a name for himself on the national team this set of qualifiers and if he can help the team qualify for a world cup he could be a mainstay for the team in the future.

South Covello National Team Roster

Nickname: Rebels
Style modifier: -5

Head Coach: Richard Hawkins
Assistant Head Coaches: Vinnie LaGuche and Joey Egermeister

After World Cup 79 and the South Covellan Revolution, the feisty Rebels elected to turn things over to the next generation. Richard Hawkins, previously the star goalkeeper, was named head coach, but the entire team was new. Vinnie LaGuche returned as well, as an assistant coach, and was joined by Joey Egermeister, a proud supporter of the Revolution and lifelong soccer fan who previously served as Acting President of the South Covello Soccer Federation after the Gregists were overthrown.

Hawkins and his staff hand-picked the new stars, and to his pleasant surprise he was able to find a young goalie who was almost athletic as he was, in Matthew Tyler. Tyler was just 19 years old and already almost as good as Hawkins was. In time, he would probably even surpass him. The rest of the team filled in nicely as well, defensively minded as always, and, as many of them had grown up idolizing the strong defensive wall, first for the Foot Slaves and then the Rebels, this led many of them to become defenders as well. So the good old Rebel Wall was still there, great and strong as ever. The team wouldn’t be letting in many goals this cycle, it sure seemed.

The Rebels would be playing a defensive 4-5-1 this cycle, with the sole striker being the young, awesomely named star Coconut Charles. The Coconut name, of course, was a direct insult to the Gregists, Lord Almighty Gregory and the others who forbid the mere mention of the work. It was sure to be a spectacular future.

However, the future wasn't all it was cracked up to be. South Covello fell way too early, in the Round of 16 of World Cup 80. They will look to bounce back this cycle.

Revolution Stadium, Riverview

Revolution Stadium opened to start World Cup 80 and usher in a new generation of South Covellan soccer. The stadium is located on the banks of the Goldenrod River, and fans will be able to arrive at the stadium by boat should they wish. As the river is navigable in the portions that run through San Jose Guayabal as well, this opens up the possibility that some visitng fans from that nation could visit if the two nations face each other. However, as San Jose Guayabal appears to have withdrawn from international competition for the time being, that seems unlikely for now.

As mentioned above, the stadium is far more intimate than the old one, seating a relatively small 42,000 fans, with ample space for supporters as well as a small number of visiting fans. The views from the stadium are immaculate, looking out over the Goldenrod Valley with the river in view as well. For games played in the fall, it will just be an amazing sight to behold, even ignoring what is going on with the game.

Stadiums
Qualifying matches will rotate between three stadiums. You may choose which one if you are the first to RP the match.

Macquarie Docklands, Latrobe (cap. 55,723)
Home ground of Latrobe AFC's soccer and rugby union teams, this venue features a natural grass pitch and retractable roof. It is located directly east of downtown Latrobe on the Yalumbia river, and close to a row of high-end restaurants and bars which are overrun with yuppies.

Exhibition Place, Kirkenes (cap. 38,600)
Home of Kirkenes FC and recently renovated to include roofs and a standing section of 3,200 on the southwestern corner section. Kirkenes is the largest city in Kelssek and has a 540m observation/broadcasting tower.

Commonwealth Park, Vickery (cap. 41,500)
As the city of Vickery has cold winters and is located at an altitude of 984m, the national team sometimes hopes to gain an advantage by hosting matches against countries not known for mountains and/or snow here.

The away kit has caused a bit of stir in Joshenia as the previous away kits have always being green or red.

About the Union of Socialist Alpine Republics

History:

Football is played in Prusy Krolewskie since the beginning of the 20th century. Prusy Krolewskie's first international games were in the baptism of fire 59, the Reprezentacja Pruski finished 2nd in group F and lost to Santaclausisgodistan in round of 16. In the World Cup 72 qualifications, Prusy Krolewskie finished fifth in group 5 with a 5-3-6 record. Prusy Krolewskie was then missing in action until we come back for the XI olympiads and the World Cup 76 where we finished 6th in group 6 with a 2-2-8 record. Prusy Krolewskie was invited at the Cup of Harmony and did very poorly. Then, the Reprezentacja Pruski participated in the 1st Independents Cup, for nations outside of the big three regions, but had a bad tournamant either. Prusy Krolewskie tried to qualify for the World Cup 77 and failed, but still had a pretty good run, enough to crack the top 100 in the KPB rankings and recieve an invitation to the Cup of Harmony 69. Prusy Krolewskie finished 3rd in its group with a 0-2-1 record.

In 2018, every nations in North Eurasia formed a superstate called Union of Soclialist Alpine Republics. The Alpine Union inherited Prusy Krolewskie's rank and participated in the Independents Cup II but lost all three games. The USAR tried to qualify for the World Cup 78 but finished 4th in group 8 with a 8-3-5 record, this is the best result so far for Prusy Krolewskie/USAR. At the Cup of Harmony 70, the Alpine Union had one win and two losses in 3 games. Then in the Independents cup III, the Alpine Union finished first in group C with 3 wins an no loss and beat Devonta in the round of 16 but lost against Bojikstan in the quarter finals. The Alpine Union tried to qualify for the World Cup 79, but the team failed miserably. Finally iat the Independents cup IV, the Alpine Union lost 1–1 (1–2 AET) in the semi final and 3–3 (3–4 AET) in the 3rd place matchup.

The Bisons tried to qualify again for the World Cup 80. They were 3rd with a 5-2-2 record at the half but did poorly with a 2-0-7 record for the 2nd half with an overall record of 7-2-9. The Alpines was a late invitee at the Cup of Harmony 72 and finished 2nd in group G with a win and two draws. The Alpine Union lost 2-0 against Mercedini in the round of 16. The Alpine Union participated in the Independents Cup 5 and finished first in group C with a 4-0-0 record. The Bisons won 4-1 against Omerica in the round of 16 but lost 2-1 against North Prarie in quarter finals.

Alpine Union

The Union of Socialist Alpine Republics consists of 30 socialist republics, which used to be independent nations or part of an independent nation who united together in 2019 to form the Union of Socialist Alpine Republics (Alpine Union for short). The new capital city, Ibrahimovicstadt, was named after the Alpine's first and current leader, Arijana Ibrahimovic, and has been build from scratch under the Alps mountain range to avoid being destroyed by evil capitalist nations such as the Free Republics or evil dictatorships like Gregoryisgodistan, which still existed at the time. Englih is spoken as a first language by almost 50% of the population and other national languages includes Polish, Croat, Spanish and French. Most people in the Alpine Union are bilingual or even trilingual. Our national religion is margaretism and our currency is the alpine krone.

The Alpine Union has only two international airports: Oglethorpe International Airport and Lotnisko Zygmunt VIII w Mszczonowie (which is located midway between Ozorkow and the Puck-Malbork metropolitan area) and many national and regional airports. The two international airports are on Air Terranea's destinations list and our top airline, Southern Airlines, is an Air Terranea partner, which makes transportation to the U.S.A.R. easier. All major cities has a rapid metro or bus system and transportation from towns to towns is easy with a rapid train system that connects each major cities.

Visiting teams will stay at a The Rooney-Charlton hotel and will travel to the stadium from the hotel or vice versa with Dolores-Wentz buses. And for those who don't know Dolores-Wentz, they makes luxurious buses.

Flambeau Field, being a gridiron stadium, doesn't meet FIFA requirements for football association. The field including sideline space for warmups, coaches boxes and benches would need to be 125 meters by 85 meters. The actual dimensions for the Flambeau Field are 120 yards by 53 1/3 plus sideline space, which is not enough.

PINK FLOYD FC

Image

Pink Floyd FC
Nickname: Floydians
Formation: 4-5-1
Style mod: +5

Kits:

Pink Floyd FC doesn't have an uniform and never will. Players are allowed to wear what they want, like sixties clothes, a gown or even play football naked (Gerald actually play naked).

About Pink Floyd FC:

Pink Floyd FC is a football team founded in the late '60s in Cambridge by tortured rock star Pink Floyd and his friends. Soon they hired Pink's overprotective mother as a head coach. Pink Floyd FC only played three games, all at the Baptism of Fire 68, losing the first two and winning the last one.

Club record: 1-0-2

Venue:

Pink Floyd FC is playing it's home game at Grantchester Road, a rugby field located just south of Cambridge in the Grantchester Meadows.
Hear the lark and harken to the barking of the dog fox
Gone to ground
See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water
And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees
Laughing as it passes through the endless summer, making for the sea

The stadium holds around 1250 spectators.

Here's a map of Cambridge and the surroundings. It's actually a replica of Cambridge located on the Dark Side of the Moon:

Image

The red dots between Cambridge and Grantchester are the Grantchester Meadows. To the north, in red, it is The Wall. The ground is yellow because it's located on the Dark Side of the Moon.

If your nation don't have the technology to land on the Dark Side of the Moon, just ask Dan Dare and he'll pick your players, journalists and fans up aboard his spaceship (capacity of 100 people). Dan Dare just finished exploring Jupiter and Saturn, Oberon, Miranda and Titania
Neptune, Titan
Stars can frighten

Schedule:

Not now John

Staff:

Head Coach: Pink's Mother

Mama's gonna make all your nightmares come true
Mama's gonna put all her fears into you
Mama's gonna keep you right here under her wing
She won't let you fly, but she might let you sing
Mama's gonna keep baby cozy and warm
Ooh baby, ooh baby, ooh baby,
Of course mama's gonna help build the wall

Formation (4-5-1):

S-------------------------------------PINK FLOYD------------------------
ACM---------------------EMILY--------------------------------------------
SM------GERALD----------------------------------------LUCIFER SAM---
DCM-------------ARNOLD LAYNE-----JENNIFER GENTLE--------------
SB------HENRY McCLEAN---------------------------------ALAN---------
D---------------------EUGENE--------GRIMBLE GRUMBLE---------------
GK---------------------------THE SCARECROW---------------------------

Starting XI

GK: The Scarecrow

The black and green scarecrow as everyone knows
Stood with a bird on his hat and straw everywhere
He didn't care

He stood in a field where barley grows

LB: Henry McClean

Hey Eugene, this is Henry McClean
And I've finished my beautiful flying machine
And I'm ringing to say
That I'm leaving and maybe
You'd like to fly with me
And hide with me, baby

CB: Eugene

Careful, careful, careful with that axe, Eugene

CB: Grimble Grumble

A gnome named Grimble Grumble
And little gnomes stay in their homes
Eating, sleeping, drinking their wine
He wore a scarlet tunic,
A blue green hood
It looked quite good
He had a big adventure
Amidst the grass
Fresh air at last
Wining, dining, biding his time
And then one day - hooray!
Another way for gnomes to say
Hoooooooooray

RB: Alan

Alan isn't the best player in the 1st half but at the halftime he's cooking his psychedelic breakfast and then he's much better in the 2nd half. He can share his psychedelic breakfast with the opposite team if they wants to.

Oh, um, flakes, oh... Then, uh, I don't know
Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes
Toast, coffee. Marmalade, I like marmalade
Marmalade, I like marmalade
Porridge is nice
Any cereal, I like all cereal

DCM: Arnold Layne

Arnold Layne steals female clothes and wear them on the football field.

Arnold Layne had a strange hobby
Collecting clothes
Moonshine washing line
They suit him fine
On the wall hung a tall mirror
Distorted view, see through baby blue
Oh, Arnold Layne

DCM: Jennifer Gentle

Jennifer Gentle plays football on a broom kinda like those who play quidditch.

Jennifer Gentle you’re a witch
You’re the left side
He’s the right side
Oh, no!

ACM: Emily

Emily tries but misunderstands, ah ooh

You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for may
See Emily play

Put on a gown that touches the ground, ah ooh
Float on a river forever and ever, Emily

LW: Gerald

I know a mouse, and he hasn't got a house
I don't know why. I call him Gerald
He's getting rather old, but he's a good mouse

RW: Lucifer Sam

Lucifer Sam, siam cat
Always sitting by your side
Always by your side

That cat’s something I can’t explain

Jennifer Gentle you’re a witch
You’re the left side
He’s the right side
Oh, no!

S: Pink Floyd

Pink is a tortured rock star, having an overprotective mother and his father being killed in the war. His teachers didn't help when he was a kid. He's pretty much different in the 2nd half of the football game from the 1st half:

(1st half)

So ya
Thought ya
Might like to go to the show
To feel the warm thrill of confusion
That space cadet glow
Tell me is something eluding you, sunshine?
Is this not what you expected to see?
If you want to find out what's behind these cold eyes
You'll just have to claw your way through this disguise

(2nd Half)

So ya
Thought ya
Might like to
Go to the show.

To feel that warm thrill of confusion,
That space cadet glow.
I've got some bad news for you sunshine,
Pink isn't well, he stayed back at the hotel
And they sent us along as a surrogate band
We're gonna find out where you fans* really stand.

Are there any queers in the theater tonight?
Get them up against the wall!
There's one in the spotlight, he don't look right to me,
Get him up against the wall!
That one looks Jewish!
And that one's a coon!
Who let all of this riff-raff into the room?
There's one smoking a joint,
And another with spots!
If I had my way,
I'd have all of you shot!

APOX WORLD CUP 81 QUALIFIERS SQUAD

Manager: Luxulya St. Cleer, Aged: 41
Assistant Manager: Sverre Devold (BYN), Aged: 43
Style: -0.5

Spiel: This is a squad which is packed full of talent, and Luxulya St. Cleer has been handed one very clear objective - qualify for the World Cup. She's currently overseeing a slight changing of the guard - at 32 Alpha Gandhi isn't the threat he used to be, while Jadranka Steele and Eurwen Raynerson are deemed slightly too old to be considered the favoured starters in their position anymore. In comes a set of hungry new players, with massive competition for places, especially up front. Look out for Brevin Scott - fresh off winning the Harlighet Ligan with Eastweald and Jarls Magarhatery, who is a key part of Barbury's drive back to relevance. Captain James Palmisano came third in the most recent galacticos index and remains the most expensive Apoxian of all time in the transfer market (£36 million to Spartangrad). He is talked of in the smae breath as Dravid Scott and Olim Benzari etc. as an all-time great of Apoxian football. Up front, any one of Lucan Palmisano, Winston Arrowsmith, Alpha Gandhi, Miriam Oakstone-Sandoval, Marcy Blake-Tatum and Ozaria Gandhi would be fine starters - fighting for up to three places in the team. This is not a side who should be languishing in the 40s in terms of rankings - St. Cleer is setting out to put an end to that.

Two examples of how the Apoxian team could line-up. Luxulya St. Cleer plans to employ a bold new style which requires intensity and fluidity. Initially set out as a "triangle" 4-3-3, it can very easily transition to a 3-4-3, with the full-backs becoming wing backs and the defensive midfielder dropping deeper and taking on a more defensively orientated role. As a result of the tactical change from the "classically Apoxian" 4-1-3-2 employed since about World Cup 67, many players may be in slightly different positions to usual - with the only guaranteed players any plane to a tournament being captain James Palmisano and superstar winger Imriel Townsend.

WC 81 Roster

Postby Squornshelan Remnant States » Tue Aug 21, 2018 9:29 pm

After a strong, but ultimately disappointing showing at the 68th Baptism of Fire Cup, a team flying the black and red sunburst of Squornshelous will compete once again in the World Cup. It has been 80 long years since a disastrous early exit from World Cup 41 provided the spark that lit off the Squornshelan Civil War, but today we stand united (well, except for the half of the country still under control of the tyrannical Vogsphere regime) and ready to rejoin the world of international football.

Manager: Lopal Daror
The championship manager of Traal Athletics is the center of rampant speculation, will his posting to lead the national team prove a springboard to a big payday with one of the Confederacy's richer clubs, or will he remain in the frozen north, and try to lead Traal to a repeat?

Lineup:
Image
Uniforms:
Home: ImageAway: ImageGoalkeeper: Image

Player Profiles:
Goalkeepers
Club: Traal Atheltics (Traal, East Flania, SRS)
Backstop of the championship-winning defense for Traal, Munib is known as a very cerebral and vocal keeper, frequently shouting instructions to his defense and launching counterattacks with his distribution. He is not the most athletic keeper in the league, but makes up for that with superb positioning and anticipation. His performance in the Baptism of Fire Cup was superb, conceding only 4 goals in 6 matches, and keeping 3 clean sheets.

Club: Interblag FC (Lutenblag, Molvania, SRS)
Krieven is still young for a starting goaltender, and is sometimes a bit overeager, relying on his excellent reflexes to bail him our for any lapses in positioning. He is an excellent stopper of set pieces and penalties, but can sometimes be caught off his line by clever attackers.

Defense
Club: Traal Atheltics (Traal, East Flania, SRS)
A converted winger, Geladi is a common sight flying forward up the left wing. While his left foot is strong, his right can let him down at times, and his eagerness to join the attack can leave him out of position. For the time being, however, he makes the starting 11 ahead of more defensive-minded players like Djabgor Dzarkhin who contribute much less in the attacking third.
He will be disappointed not to have notched any assists during the BoF, but seems to have the trust of management to find his attacking game. Geladi is often subbed out when the Black-and-Reds are defending a lead.

Club: Lublova Reds FC (Lublova, Molvania, SRS)
A rising star in the Lublova organization, Raktsov was not without his faults this year, particularly as Lublova stumbled down the stretch and were caught by Traal. Raktsov, however, can be blamed for few of their shortcomings. It is expected that Lublova will build the future of their defense around him.

Club: Traal Atheltics (Traal, East Flania, SRS)
Another representative from League 1's stingiest defense, Oleb is a well-rounded center back, possessed of the height a vertical leap to win headers in dangerous areas, as well as the poise and experience to avoid making mistakes in front of his own net. His experience playing together with Munib and Geladi will doubtless be of great benefit to the cohesion of our defense. During the BoF, Oleb was the rock at the center of the defense, playing a key role in marking and containing opposing strikers.

Club: Olympia Arkintoofle (Arkintoofle, Megabrantis, SRS)
While Arkintoofle certain had their difficulties this year, most of them were in the attacking third, as they found themselves unable to overcome a number of 1-goal deficits. Were it not for the excellent play of Ystrad to anchor their defense, they may have finished quite a bit further down the table. The rumor mill links him with a move to Chalesm or Damogran, as his contract is up at the end of next season, and he has indicated he does not intend to re-sign with Arkintoofle unless management demonstrates a willingness to spend heavily next transfer window. He can be a reckless tackler, as evinced by his sending off in the final match of the BoF Group Stage.

Club: Interblag FC (Lutenblag, Molvania, SRS)
While not as attacking minded as his opposite number, Geladi, Ucviecel is probably the fastest player on the roster. His pace allows him to surprise attackers who may think they have him beat, as well as to run right by defenders who misjudge his acceleration. During the BoF, his crossing and overlapping game was particularly strong working together with both Tambura and Zonde

Club: Algolia AC (Damogran, Algolia, SRS)
Delu saw limited action during the BoF, mostly due the the excellent play of Ulcviecel. He is not as creative, and so is not as much of a contributor in the attack, making him less good a fit for Daror's tactics. In defense, however, he is a dependable right back, known particularly for keeping his calm under pressure.

Club: Interblag FC (Lutenblag, Molvania, SRS)
Tkermec is a veteran player and, while not as imposing a presence physically, makes life hard for opposing strikers with excellent positioning and anticipation. He is particularly adept at man marking and defending against dribbles, as he often seems to know what the attacker will do before he does it. As one would expect from a shorter player, however, he can be beaten in the air.

Club: Jaglan Royals (Jaglan, Algolia, SRS)
Dalso is still a fairly raw talent, but is a superb athlete, and is expected to be a major contributor to the future of the national team. Any player who can anchor a club defense at 23 is bound to do great things in the future, but for now he is definitely the second choice as a substitute, behind Tkermec, due to his lingering tendency to overcommit to challenges or to occasionally lose his man on set pieces.

Club: Lublova Reds FC (Lublova, Molvania, SRS)
Dzarkin will see a lot of time, particularly if Geladi falls out of favor with management. He was a capable bench player during the BoF, providing dependable defending on the flank late in games to defend slim leads. He is also capable of contributing along the wing, though he does not have Geladi's precise service on crosses.

Midfielders
Club: Lublova Reds FC (Lublova, Molvania, SRS)
Lublova's new wunderkind, Vladcik was an integral part of their attack, which was second only to that of Chalesm FC. He was the breakout player of the BoF for the Confederacy, notching two goals and an assist. Unlike his teammate Strepol, however, he prefers to score with placement, rather than power, with a knack for curling the ball around the keeper even when shooting from fairly poor angles.

Club: Lublova Reds FC (Lublova, Molvania, SRS)
Strepol is strength and power incarnate. He has a booming shot that he like to let fly regularly, and is very difficult to take off the ball when shielding. He has somewhat of a reputation for hard tackles though, and so may miss a game or two due to yellow cards. His contributions to the BoF were limited somewhat by an ankle injury picked up against Kedroiqua, but if he stays healthy, he will be in important contributor.

Club: Traal Athletics (Traa, East Flania, SRS)
Team captain and leading scorer, Damot will be the focal point for the attack. As he is at Traal, he will be the primary distributor of the ball, and the main set-piece taker. His small stature, only 5'9" (175cm), gives him a low center of gravity, allowing him to quickly make multiple direction changes and cutbacks to open space for a pass or shot. His accuracy from long range means goaltenders need to be on their toes any time Damot has the ball in the attacking third.

Club: Damogran FC (Damogran, Algolia, SRS)
Tambura's struggles were Zonde's opportunity in the BoF, and he seized it. This pacy winger was able to combine well with Ulcviecel to wreak havoc for opposing left backs, scoring one goal, and making important contributions on other plays, though he was not credited with an assist for any of them.

Club: AC Damogran (Damogran, Algolia, SRS)
While it's no surprise the pacy, young midfielder from League 2 champions AC Damogran made the roster, some were surprised to see him named a starter. Those doubts proved justified, as Tambura contributed an assist, but often struggled to create opportunities during the BoF. He is less of a pure winger than Zonde, and will frequently drift inside or cut across the top of the box.

Club: Viltvodle United (Viltvodle, Megabrantis, SRS)
Between the return to health of Strepol, the capable defensive play of Hagaz, and the addition of Dzrenin to the roster, Abhe may find it difficult to find substantial playing time. As the roster currently stands, he is definitely the fifth option at center midfield.
He is a player without any obvious weaknesses, but also without any outstanding strengths. He delivers solidly average to above average play in midfield, but can't be relied on to create things single-handed at the international level.

Club: Interblag FC (Lutenblag, Molvania, SRS)
The most glaring omission from the Baptism of Fire roster, Dzrenin will certainly see time during qualifying. He is an all-around player with a wealth of experience and leadership, having captained Lutenblag for 6 years. He will compete with Hagaz as the first option as a substitute in center midfield, and will likely see considerable playing time if either Strepol or Damot miss time.

Club: Chalesm FC (Chalesm, Megabrantis, SRS)
Combative is Hagaz in a word. On the national team he tends to play a more defensive game, allowing the more finesse-oriented plays to press the attack. He tests the boundaries of what officials will allow, and so picks up more than his share of yellow cards, but is almost always shrewd enough to avoid being shown a red. One might say that while he plays with a definite edge, he keeps his wits about him, and knows when to back off to avoid hurting his team.

Club: Interblag FC (Lutenblag, Molvania, SRS)
A very capable player who finds himself on the bench only through the ascendancy of Vladcik, Djanetic is not as creative or precise as the young starter, but bring great strength and speed, as well as good field vision. He is well able to pick out targets for his crosses, though his service is not always on target. He also sometimes struggles to keep his shots on frame. If he can bring greater control and poise to his game, he could challenge for a starting spot.

Forwards:
Club: Chalesm FC (Chalesm, Megabrantis, SRS)
With strength and wiles beyond his years, Ajao spearheaded League 1's highest scoring attack for Chalesm. He will be a threat on aerial plays near the opposition goal, but also has a knack for distributing the ball to players making late runs into the box. Undersized center backs may have difficulty marking him; at 6'4 1/2" (194 cm) and 192 lbs (87 kg) he is quite a handful.

Club: Lublova Reds FC (Lublova, Molvania, SRS)
Jzvanic is not the tower of strength that Ajao is, but is more active as a striker. While Ajao tends to remain inside acting as a target man, Jzvanic will readily drop back or slide out to the side in order to give the ball carrier a shorter passing option. When playing as a second forward, he tends to slot in slightly underneath the other striker, and play more as a false 9 than a striker.

Club: Brantisvogan FC (Brantisvogan, Megabrantis, SRS)
Though he was an excellent player on an underachieving club team this year, Ajao's emergence and Jzvanic's good play as a substitute kept Mikhulat off the field during the BoF. His prime attribute is his quick footwork, which allows him to send defenders the wrong way on dribbles, and to make quick turn-around shots. He is not as adept in the air, however, and struggles to impact the match when consistently required to receive the ball at chest height or above.

Once the Imperial Viceroyalty of West Squornshelous, the Confederacy of Squornshelan Remnant States gained its independence in a bloody and terrible civil war some 80 years ago. Separated from its former rulers by a narrow sea, seven former provinces banded together to form the Confederacy for mutual security against Imperial aggression and because, despite their differences, they are much more alike than they are different. The states that make up the Confederacy are as follows:

Second largest by area and population, the centrally located Megabrantis is the most influential state politically and economically and home to the national capital, Chalesm, a city of some 2.5 million inhabitants. The regional capital is still located in the old Viceroyal seat of Brantisvogan, a booming metropolis home to nearly 7 million people. Other major cities in Megabrantis include Viltvodle, Arkintoofle, Golgafrincham, Flamarion, and Hensha. Geographically, Megabrantis is fairly diverse, with plains in the south, extending west toward the coast, more rugged, hilly terrain in the north and east, and handful of major rivers.

Molvania was once an independent nation, and competed in World Cups 28 and 29 in its own right, finishing only 3 points out of a qualifying spot in the latter cycle. it was annexed not long thereafter, however, in a relatively bloodless coup (only a few thousands died or disappeared, quite low by Imperial standards). It is the largest and most populous of the Confederate states, but still somewhat underdeveloped. Things have improved in recent decades though, as Molvanians have been able to benefit from their land's resources rather than having them appropriated under the Imperial yoke. The regional capital is Lutenblag, a sprawling city of over 10 million. Other major cities include Lublova, Sjerezo, Sasava, Svetranj, Bardjov, Gryrorik, and Dzrebo.

The gold and green south, Algolia enjoys a pleasant, mediterranean climate, and is regarded across the Confederacy for its excellent cuisine and spectacular beaches. The regional capital is Jaglan, whence Algolia was ruled by Kings for centuries before the Imperial conquest. Damogran, however, is the largest city and a regional center of financial services.

The Sivolvian peninsula in the extreme southwest of the Confederacy is the product of a large complex of extinct and dormant volcanoes. Due to the high prevalence of volcanic ash in the soil and reliable rainfall from its coastal locale, Sivolvia is mainly composed of grasslands, and has very fertile soil for agriculture. While certain of the volcanoes do pose a potential risk to nearby cities like Yassaca, Syneca, and Brasta, they are well monitored, and hazard maps and evacuation plans for the region in the event of heavy ashfall, pyroclastic flows, or lahars are widely published.

The smallest state in the Confederacy, Han Dold is wedged between the sea, Megabrantis and West Flania. Inland, the Han Dold river flows out of Megabrantis and into the spectacular Han Dold Canyonlands, where the river carves its way through soft shales and limestones before emerging onto the coastal plain, where it bisects the regional capital, Han Dold City (no, not everything in Han Dold is named Han Dold ____, just most of it is). Han Dold has built its economy primarily around ecotourism, but also has a respectable fishing fleet, mainly based out of the coastal city of Han Wavel.

The long, coastal northern state of Flania is administratively divided, but united culturally and economically. Long, bitterly cold winters give way for a few months to a brief summer when most of the region's money is made. The only year-round port is Zarss, located far to the West. Traal, home of the current SCFA League 1 champions, Traal Athletics, is icebound some 8 months out of the year. Inland, across the Quentulus mountains, the mining city of Rudlit is actually more acessible from Megabrantis or Molvania than it is from Traal, its closest neighbor as the crow flies.

The Confederacy has a rich footballing history and tradition. As part of the Imperium of Squornshelous, the Confederacy has participated in 37 world cup cycles, from World Cup 5 through World Cup 41, qualifying for 36 of those tournaments. The united Squornshelan team hoisted the trophy only once, in World Cup 31, but appeared in two other finals, and four third place matches, winning two of those. Football is by far the most popular sport both to play and to watch for Confederate citizens, and over-capacity crowds are expected to fill the stands at our upcoming World Cup qualifying matches. Squornshelan national teams have historically played in an all-out attacking style, however, that style has been tempered somewhat since Squornshelans last played internationally. The current team's style employs a 5-4-1 formation and is based on tight defending and quick counterattacks, frequently using overlapping runs down the wings and a target man at striker getting on the end of aerial crosses.

Domestic football is overseen by the Squornshelan Confederate Football Association (SCFA). Currently, there are only 48 league teams, divided among League 1 and League 2. The reigning (and so far only) champions are Traal Athletics, from the northern state of East Fallia, who narrowly edged out Molvanian sides Lublova Reds and Interblag FC. The Confederacy Cup is planned as a domestic tournament, but its inaugural edition has not yet taken place, and will likely be delayed until after the Baptism of Fire Cup concludes.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

The departure of Kasper Molak under very humiliating circumstances (namely following the shock defeat by Abanhfleft at the hands of whipping boys Braxil) has marked the end of an era in the national team's history. Holly Jonasson, the Armeian-Anglatian named as Molak's successor, managed to lead the team to third place in their qualifying group in WC 74 and a quarterfinals spot in Cup of Harmony 66, but the men's team was not overly keen in having Jonasson at the helm of their team, and so for the first time in their history as a member of the NationStates World Cup, Abanhfleft will be having separate managers for the men's and women's teams. Ranulph Bustamante, who was an assistant manager under Molak's tenure, becomes the men's new manager, while Jonasson keeps her spot as the women's team's manager. Bustamante has promised to follow in his predecessor's footsteps with regards to playing attractive attacking football, and while his tactics have translated well to the field, there is still the matter of getting past the group stage of the World Cup finals. Can Bustamante finally get his boys to get over that particular hump this time? Or will the group stage prove to be the furthest that the Fleftics can get? Only time will tell...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3.5
Formation: 4-3-1-2
Head coach: Ranulph Bustamante (54 y/o, Abanhfleft)

STARTERS
GK: Carlos COHEN 31 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image, vice-captain
Carlos did pretty well for himself while he starred in the Di Bradini Cup in Abanhfleft's first few sporting forays into the greater multiverse. But once he became ineligible for the Di Bradini Cup due to his age, he found his struggle to break through the senior national team blocked by the very same obstacle which was blocking his ascension to the first team of Sporting Ceneisis: none other than the Blues' stalwart goalkeeper and captain Maksim Varamoninov. The long-limbed and long-necked keeper held down Ceneisis' number one spot for so many years that Carlos must have surely contemplated moving to another club just to become first-choice keeper. But then Fluvique and Mevosa came swooping in with a big offer for Big Maksim and both Maksim and Ceneisis were crazy not to accept the offer, and that is the story of how Carlos Cohen finally became Ceneisis' number one. Sure, Maksim came back to Abanhfleft after a few years when a Catastrophic Termination Event swept through Fluvique but he signed for Arsenal de Releinthi instead so Carlos continues to be Ceneisis' number one.

LB: Daisuke OGIGAYATSU 27 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Image
Daisuke Ogigayatsu is the younger brother of Flardanian striker Eriko Ogigayatsu, who is one of the star strikers of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies (alongside Zsofia Dolan and Tess Byquist). Daisuke is the only member of the Ogigayatsu family who was born in Abanhfleft, which made him eligible to represent the country by nature of the law which automatically grants Fleftic citizenship to everyone born within Fleftic borders. Daisuke is a speedy fullback whose bags of pace allow him to keep up with the offense of the team while at the same time not shirking from his defensive responsibilities. So far, he's been overlooked by the SFA, but Heinrich Wurzmann hopes that Daisuke will shine enough in the Independents Cup to warrant a real call-up for the real national team. That hope has now come true come the World Cup 77 qualifiers.

LCB: Ainsley GIBSON 27 y/o, 1830 Cathair Image (Audioslavia)
Gibson has large shoes to fill in following the graduation of Rory Edwards to the senior team and Celerino delos Reyes' decision to give the captain's armband to Gibson. Perhaps delos Reyes would have been better off if he had given the armband to Cedric Pearson or Joe Warren, but after Gibson's commanding performance as captain of the under-18s, Owen Bevan would have none of it. Gibson is a speedy center-back, which used to serve as the perfect foil to Kristin Pittmann's rock-solid presence on the pitch, but with Pittmann now ineligible, he's had to work hard to limit his attacking runs, especially now that this tendency of his was exploited by Pasarga in that fateful round of 16 matchup. Somehow managed to get a move from mid-table Submarin Yeralenko in Pridnestrovia to Audioslavia's 1830 Cathair despite all that.

RCB: Luke EDWARDS 37 y/o, Riuwiee United Image, captain
The captain of the national team is back, and this time, he's even more raring to go into action ever since a knee injury last season derailed Riuwiee United's hopes of a thirty-third title. Now fully healed and back into both Artemio Peres and Ranulph Bustamante's starting eleven, Edwards is looking forward to competing on the international stage once again and show younger brother Rory, who has been included in the senior national team for the first time in his career, how a real international player plays. This will also be his final World Cup qualifying cycle, and also his final chance to finally see the Revolutionaries through to the knockout stage of the World Cup finals. If they can actually get that far...

RB: Melisizwe AFOLAYAN 28 y/o, Locomotive Imgortur Image
Afolayan is a no-nonsense defender that doesn't take being skilled around by the opponent lightly. If the opponent begins skilling his or her way around Afolayan then he will just stick out a leg and trip over the opponent, which has led to a disciplinary record filled with yellow cards and the occasional red card. The Rodrigues management claims that Afolayan has the potential to be a wing-back due to his high offensive work rate, but only time will tell if this will become true. Signed by Locomotive Imgortur as a long-term replacement for Charles Amoroso and was a fixture in Abanhfleft's early Di Bradini squads before finally making the cut with the senior national team.

LM: Andrea MARILUNGO 27 y/o, Malabon SC Image
Malabon is not generally considered to have one of the better football academies within the Fleftic football system, and Adelmio Bandini isn't also noted for being the type of manager to promote from within the club, but Marilungo proved to be the exception to both these rules. Although he's more of a central midfielder for Malabon, his wicked good left foot means that Ranulph Bustamante has put in the left midfield where he can put his defensive qualities to good use and cover for his fellow youngsters Daisuke Ogigayatsu and Kenneth Owobowale. But that doesn't mean Marilungo can't come forward and help on the offense as well.

CM: Valery ZOLNEROV 32 y/o, Malabon SC Image
After impressing for the under-21s in Abanhfleft's first ever Di Bradini campaign, Zolnerov dropped off the radar after turning 22 and becoming ineligible for the under-21s and turning in a decent-ish performance for Kimmirut Panhandle. However, when he began playing consistent first-team football and helped Kimmirut to return to the Premier League after five seasons in Unang Liga, Zolnerov is back on everyone's minds. After five seasons of watching Kimmirut bounce around between the Premier League and the Unang Liga, Val has decided that he wants to play for a team with a steady league place and went for Fluvique's Saint Matthew for the neat sum of NSD 14.5m.

RM: Cedric PEARSON 29 y/o, Samaj FC Image (Cosumar)
One of the four remaining starters of the original Fleftic Di Bradini squad, Pearson used to be one of the more questionable choices in the starting eleven back when the under-21s first competed in international football, but with age and experience he is starting to prove his doubters wrong, but with a history of being injury-prone Pearson hasn't been able to show good performances for an entire season. His presence will help lock up the midfield, but if he gets injured the Fleftic right side will prove vulnerable. Ced eventually grew tired of being constantly in a relegation battle with Bananas FC and decided to move to Cosumar's Samaj FC when the opportunity came knocking despite interest from FC Brimstone over in Apox as well.

CAM: Rory EDWARDS 30 y/o, Riuwiee United Image
Consistent for the three years that he'd been playing for the under-21s but never quite managing to lead them to the title, the younger Edwards sibling has made his mark, but will certainly look to make that mark bigger with his inclusion into the first team of the senior squad. His main job will be feeding Potter and Kelvin, but he can and does score some goals from his position. He has the future to be either a false 9 or an actual striker in his own right.

CF: Kareem DAGEN 25 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Image
Dagen can be described as the breakout player of the first Sporting World Cup, scoring 10 goals and leading Abanhfleft to second place in the aforementioned tournament. His amazing performance as a striker led to his signing by Eikborg Club, a Semarlandish club competing in the Globe Cup, making him the first ever Fleftic player to sign for a foreign league other than Pridnestrovia, Oontaz Dert Li Ng and Copper Cuprum. Dagen's quality performance in the Sporting World Cup also earned him a starting spot in the Fleftic under-21s, over the likes of Garrett Krantz and Irina Babarushchik. Now he's starting because those other players are now ineligible as well. After a few years with Eikborg, Dagen has gone back to Rosenpfelblatz on the promise of first team minutes and playing alongside the likes of Max Fetfatzidis and Oliver Ganson.

CF: Vitaly ZIMA 26 y/o, Imperial Markovsky Image
Vitaly Zima is the twin brother of Arkadi Zima of Revolutionary Nordskania, and they've had quite a contentious relationship outside of football. Vitaly is a one-dimensional striker who is good at getting into spaces and poaching the ball in dangerous areas, but other than that, he's not a remarkable player. No one's really sure why Vitaly has been included to the Independents Cup squad, except maybe to provide a contrast to his more prominent brother Arkadi, who's made a lot of waves recently. He scored goals in the Independents Cup and made himself look like a world-class striker so that has to explain why he was included in the qualifying pool. Now starting in the World Cup proper in place of the recovering Kevin Kelvin.

RESERVES
GK: Maksim VARAMONINOV 38 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Image
A traditional keeper, Varamoninov prefers to stay behind and near his goal as much as possible, unless his team has gone on the offensive and there are no other players to bother him in his half, or when he is called forward in the last minutes of a game for the possibility of scoring a header from a corner. A very tall keeper with insanely long limbs and neck and, according to many Fleftic footie fans, one of the most punchable faces in the league. (FYI, he looks like Courtois.)

GK: Guildenstern CARDEW 20 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image
Guildenstern Cardew is the younger brother of former Panem striker Silvia Cardew. After Panem was enveloped by a mysterious Catastrophic Termination Event (or CTE), the Cardews eventually managed to wind up on the shores of the Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony along with a large number of their fellow Panemian nationals. Guildenstern was eventually picked up by Besanza Emeralds FC of the Fhulghamousian Premier League. Guildenstern decided to emulate his Panemian idol Walnut Durant and become a goalkeeper even though his sister Silvia is a striker. Guildenstern is also very close friends with Marius Rosenkrantz the soccer player but never got around to telling Marius his true feelings until it was too late. Will this affect him throughout the qualification period?

RB: Horace POPOV 26 y/o, Farrenton Athletic Image (Eura), male
A member of the Fleftic under-21 team's backroom staff happened upon Popov while playing Championship Football Manager and noticed that the kid had high defensive potential. Popov is still a diamond in the rough, but some experience under the wing of Melisizwe Afolayan could see him become a potential star. Whether it's for his mother's homeland Abanhfleft or his birth country Pridnestrovia still remains to be seen, but for now, while he's still under the age of 21, he's Abanhfleft's man. With Afolayan now ineligible, it's up to Popov to make an impact that will keep him in a white shirt. Injuries to Jordan Cervantes and Holland Emilianovski have necessitated Popov's inclusion into the senior team where he hopes to make a very good impact.

CB: Charles VIGER 27 y/o, AFC Langtree Image (Mercedini)
Charlie Viger used to be one of the brightest prospects among defenders in the under-18 group of both Fleftic and Pridnestrovian players and was already knocking on the door of the first team of Vorpommern Nyqvist of the Pridnestrovian Super League looking to become one of the team and league's best young defenders. Then the final of the first ever Sporting World Cup happened and Charlie was part of the Abanhfleft team that conceded five goals against eventual champions Semarland. Charlie's confidence took a very noticeable nosedive and everything that marked him out as a defender for the future vanished and he was eventually released by the club, ending up across the Rheinsee with Kesselburger Kickers. But Ranulph Bustamante still must see the potential in Charlie to warrant an inclusion with the Independents Cup squad. Perhaps Ranulph hopes to re-unearth Charlie's once-again-hidden talent.

LB: Caleb WAYNE 23 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers Image
Caleb isn't a regular starter for any of the junior squads before this, but the few substitute appearances that he made from the bench earned him a big money move to Fluvique's Darwin City (3 million NSD, to be exact). Like many of the defensive players coming through Abanhfleft's academies in recent times, Caleb is a defender, specifically a left back, who likes to bomb forward when the opportunity arises, although he does do his defensive duties as well if called upon, thus giving him the potential to be a wingback or even a winger. He's also quite good in the air and could be relied on when defending set pieces or winning air balls. Now plays for Wanda Island Wanderers after a Catastrophic Termination Event engulfed Fluvique and left him among one of the few survivors.

DM: Andor GAÁL 23 y/o, Malabon SC Image
Lucjo Kleinmann's fellow Malabonian "wunderkind" is finally stepping up to the plate after spending a lot of time languishing on the bench of the under-18 and under-21 teams. But unlike Lucjo, who is the kind of central midfielder who gets in between the opposition's passing lanes and works to disrupt their offensive rhythm and win the ball, Andor is more of a box-to-box midfielder, chipping in on defensive duties when needed and ready to restart the attack when the ball gets poked out of the final third by the opponents. He's also good for a long-range shot, especially from his left foot, and he has scored his fair share of screamers. He will look to do so for his country on the senior level thanks to Ranulph Bustamante's belief in his ability.

CM: Luĉjo Miĥaelo KLEINMANN 25 y/o, Malabon SC Image
Kleinmann is finally in the starting eleven of a Fleftic national team, much to the relief of Malabon SC fanboys as well as Kleinmann fanboys even thought it's not the official starting eleven of Ranulph Bustamante. Everyone knows how good he is as a central defensive mid, and now he has proven that he can do it on a regular basis after finally earning the starting spot that the now-ineligible Joe Warren once occupied. Well, except for the fact that he was completely and utterly shit in the big game against Pasarga. Is he really as good as people think he is, or is he just another hyped-up talent who can't perform in the big games? Everyone from Ranulph Bustamante to the armchair managers sitting at home in Abanhfleft will soon find out.

CM: Toumain VINCELOT 28 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Image
Toumain Vincelot is originally from the Anglatian colony of Patierre. His family fled to Abanhfleft after the Anglatians removed the Communist presence in the colony because the Vincelots had been known socialist sympathizers, although Toumain himself is apolitical. Vincelot is a tough, no-nonsense defensive-minded midfielder and will think nothing of going in for the sliding tackle if it meant breaking up the opposition's attack. Following stellar performances in the Independents Cup in Bonesea (including at least two Man of the Match awards), Vincelot has been called up to the senior national squad to replace the injured Alan Turpentine. Now sidelined for the entirety of the World Cup due to an injury sustained during a match against Revolutionary Nordskania.

CAM: Omar EL SALAH 27 y/o, General Santos FC Image (Oontaz), on loan from Arsenal de Releinthi Image
Arsenal and Godric Wexler have always had a reputation for producing good players from their academy's ranks, and while Omar El Salah hasn't been on anyone's radars before last season, when El Salah came out to play in a few Premier League games to fill in for the injured Elliot Edison, and he has proven to be one of the better things about Arsenal's disappointing season. He scored his debut goal against Marinos Thimpodopoulos to give them a victory against their bogey team, and then El Salah scored his first goal in the Monsanto Stadium against Kimmirut Panhandle, the team that had knocked them out of the SFA Cup just a week earlier. El Salah is speedy and has great composure and finishing which belies his young age, but with many other good players ahead of him, he will have to wait for a few games before earning his first cap.

FW: Kevin KELVIN 33 y/o, Malabon SC Image
Well, here's a player that's finally playing in the level he deserves. Kevin Kelvin first came to attention during the World Cup 71 qualifiers as a stunning substitute striker that sent in lots of cool shots for the Democratic Republic. Unfortunately, this form hasn't carried to his club Electric Yugal, who were eventually relegated to Unang Liga last season. Fortunately for Kelvin once again, Adelmio Bandini saw potential in him and picked him up for Malabon for NS$10m. Not a bad price for a striker that scores tons when he's in form yet can be frustratingly bad when he's not in form. He loses his place to Vitaly Zima due to Kelvin still recovering from an earlier hamstring injury.

FW: Arthur MacALISTAIR 23 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers Image
Arthur started his career as a left-sided midfielder but eventually found himself becoming a great winger, even if just for the under-18 and under-21 squad. His few substitute appearances during the latest Di Bradini Cup earned him a move to Fluvique's Athletic, where is now getting some more first-team minutes than he could have possibly expected from his first club. Owen Bevan got the most out of Arthur in the second Sporting World Cup as a winger, but was shifted back in deep midfield by Celerino delos Reyes, but for his first senior team roster mention, he's expected to be at least a winger once again. Replaces the totally and completely unused Yoshinobu Mori.

FW: Tristan LEE 35 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Image
Tristan was the greatest surprise of last season's Premier League, scoring a whopping 22 goals for Admiral Porcusces, leading them to their highest ever PL finish in their history. This is noteworthy because before his record goalscoring season, Lee's highest ever goal tally was just 10 goals in a season, and that was when Porcusces won the SFA Cup in 2010, and he was only 20 years old. And while Porcusces never really challenged for the title last season, the team as a unit were able to sneak into that vital fourth place to qualify them for the Antarctic Champions League. Ranulph Bustamante is a vocal fan of Tristan's tenacity and willingness to find the back of the net whatever the odds, and this earned Lee his first ever call-up to the national team. Hasn't been able to replicate that winning performance but still shows enough flashes and glimpses to merit inclusion in the qualifying squad. (Based on the one and only Vardy.)

STADIUMS
All football stadiums in Abanhfleft now have seats following a mandatory upgrade in 2000, but despite this ruling, many, if not all, stadiums still allow standing spectators during matches. However, in anticipation for World Cup qualifying matches, more security forces had been hired by the authorities to make sure that there are no standing spectators in such games.

Official name: May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium
Capacity: est. 67,000
Record attendance: 72,308 (Riuwiee United vs. Wanda Island Wanderers; June 3, 2009)
Operator: Riuwiee United FC
Short history: The May 26 Stadium, originally known as Raschner Lane, and later on as Riuwiee National Stadium, was built in 1886 as a cricket ground, and it served as home for two semi-pro cricket teams before it was bought by the Riuwiee Capitals football team, which will later on become Riuwiee United. After the conclusion of the Catholic Revolution of 2008, the national government bought the controlling share of Riuwiee National Stadium and renamed it the May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium, in commemoration of the May 26 Revolution that eventually established the nation of Abanhfleft. Riuwiee United still play in the May 26 Stadium, but now it is also the chosen stadium for home games by the Fleftic national football team.

Official name: State of Wanda Island Arena
Capacity: est. 54,000
Record attendance: 59,674 (Wanda Island Wanderers vs. Malabon SC; November 15, 2012)
Operator: Wanda Island Wanderers FC
Short history: The State of Wanda Island demolished the old Wanda Island Arena in 1998 to make way for a new and improved football stadium that follows international standards. Construction began in 1999, and finished just in time for the beginning of the 2001 Premier League season. The Wanderers played in a nearby high school athletic field for the duration of the arena's construction. In 2010, when IKEA entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Wanderers, the arena was consequently called IKEA Arena for sponsorship reasons. This agreement is expected to continue until 2020, after both sides came to a six-year contract extension.

Official name: Monsanto Stadium
Capacity: est. 50,000
Record attendance: 56,555 (Arsenal de Releinthi vs. Admiral Porcusces; January 7, 2013)
Operator: FC Arsenal de Releinthi
Short history: Arsenal de Releinthi mooted moving to a new stadium ever since 1993, but it was only in 2002 that the club managed to get permission to begin construction on the site of a former landfill after disputes with the city council and land planning office. Even then, it was only after Monsanto agreed to shoulder the cost of the new stadium that it was even built, and because of this, the stadium was named Monsanto Stadium. Arsenal de Releinthi and Monsanto entered into a seven-year contract extension this year, potentially extending Monsanto's sponsorship of the club up to 2021.

SULTANATE OF OONTAZ DERT LI NG
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

This is the sixth time that Oontaz Dert Li Ng will be participating in the AOCAF. Oontaz got through undefeated in the group stage of the Baptism of Fire 61 but was knocked out in the round of 16 by Arioslavia. The nation is a mix of Muslims and Catholics, with the Mohammedans concentrated in the northern part of the country and the Christians living mostly in the southern islands. Despite a turbulent early history which saw both religious groups fighting constant wars and rebellions, by the time Abanhfleft came and "occupied" the nation in 1921, a general "peace" had settled between the two groups, and today both are content to consider each other as Oontazniks. Despite being a sultanate, the freedom of religion is valued by the nation, although it would be good advice to say that while the Catholics and Christians might be welcoming, even accommodating, to foreigners of strange new religions, the Muslims might not be so welcoming.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Sultanate of Oontaz Dert Li Ng
Demonym: Oontaznik
Nickname: Lions of Sand and Sea
Team colors: Green and white
Style modifier: -2.0 (Defensive this time around)
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Head coach: Juan Dominador "Ador" Macaspac (42 y/o, Oontaz Dert Li Ng)

STARTERS
GK: Karim ANSARIFARID 36 y/o, Pasargad Manitogoro Image, captain
In the old days, Karim Ansarifarid was Mr. Oontaz. These were the days when Karim was the first choice keeper of Riuwiee United and Georges Leblanc. And then Karim was surprisingly sold back to his old Oontaznik club Pasargad Manitogoro and while Karim's goalkeeping skills didn't diminish, going back to his homeland seemed to have made Emir Usamah (the old manager of the team) forget all about Karim and his contributions to the Oontaznik national team during their historic run to the Coalition Cup (an informal tournament held between the national teams of Abanhfleft, Pridnestrovia, Oontaz, and Copper Cuprum). Following Oontaz's (unsurprising) exit in the Round of 16 of AOCAF 52 to Osarius, Ador Macaspac remembered that Karim still exists and called him back up to the squad.

RB: Marcus Oliver "Marco" PORTENCIO 26 y/o, Electric Yugal Image (Abanhfleft)
Marco Portencio is one of the new faces on the Oontaznik national football team following the sacking of Emir Usamah and the elevation of Ador Macaspac from star striker to new team manager. Marco is a quality right back who is already showing flashes of world-class brilliance, kind of like a cheap Oontaznik version of Hector Bellerin. He has pace in buckets, and he is also good for scoring a goal or two per season.

RCB: Jericson SARIMANOK 27 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image
Sturdy defensive minded player who can play anywhere across the defensive line. He used to be stuck on the Oontaznik bench when Emir Usamah was still the coach because of clan rivalries between the Emir's clan and Jeric's, and then when Ador Macaspac took over the team, Makhdoum Macaraig resurrected his defensive career to become another mainstay in the starting eleven, but with Makhdoum finally retiring from international duties after AOCAF LV, Jeric finally gets elevated to the starting eleven.

LCB: Honesto CAMPANILLA 30 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image
Sometimes it is lamentable that in a competition where experience and leadership would be most valuable in a back line, all that could be scraped up was a single slow defender who somehow made it big in Abanhfleft's top flight, and a bunch of young talent that could make it or break it at any day. Campanilla, or Estong as he likes to be called, has slightly more potential than the other defenders in the team, and he also has a slightly higher chance of being an actually good player than the others. Sure, he slide-tackles at every opportunity, and it is easy for an experienced forward or even midfielder to get him booked, but Estong only has to learn to not swing himself around like a mace and he could make it big like his big partner in the center, Makhdoum Macaraig.

LB: Martin OPULENCIA 27 y/o, Real Mikkaleth Image (Abanhfleft)
Another new face from Ador Macaspac's new look Oontaznik team. Martin is a resolute left back who doesn't shrink away from making any challenges, even against players normally acknowledged as "untouchable" by other teams' defenses. He is content to remain at the back, defending his goal when needed, but sometimes he might be commanded to come up for an attack, and he doesn't shrink away from scoring a goal or two per season either.

DM: Timothy SAN MARCELINO 31 y/o, General Santos FC Image
Of course it wouldn't be a real Oontaznik football team if a Santos player wasn't there. And in this part of the team, it looks as if Emir Usamah has finally assembled a team capable of making it through the World Cup qualifiers with at least a few draws and maybe a win or two. SanMar, as he's called by Oontaz fans, is, as his position states, a defensive midfielder, meaning that his main purpose is to break up any attacks attempted by the opponents before they reach the pitiful defense and the sadly shocking goalkeeper. It's a job that he does well enough that he's earned a starting spot in the most prestigious team in Oontaz Dert Li Ng.

CM: ABU NAYEF Ismailuddin 31 y/o, Pasargad Manitogoro Image
No one really thought much of Abu Nayef's inclusion to the national team since he was one of those players who was good enough in the league to get a spot in the national team, but not good enough to get a starting spot. But he's starting to earn a spot in Emir Usamah's team sheet, since he's turned out to be one of the surprise players of Oontaz's World Cup qualifying campaign. By now, he's a shoo-in for a spot on the bench, and if the going gets tough, he can handle a starting spot.
IMPORTANT: This player should be always referred to as Abu Nayef since Ismailuddin is a patronym.

RM: Haider ZULFIKAR 33 y/o, Riuwiee United Image (Abanhfleft)
Sometimes it can be such a shame when a good and promising player like Zulfikar ends up rotting on the bench, being unable to help his team even though he knows that he just might be the final piece of the puzzle that rescues a league campaign gone horribly wrong. Zulfikar was a member of the infamous Riuwiee United team that blew an eight-point lead at the summit of the Fleftic Premier League and turned it into an insurmountable five-point gap between first and third, where the Blue Tribesmen ended up to allow their rivals Arsenal de Releinthi to claim the title. Now, with the likes of Shinji Ikeda and Hamengkubuwono sold off or relegated to the bench, Zulfikar now has to show that he could be the change that Riuwiee and Oontaz Dert Li Ng needs.

CAM: Karimabdul DIMAINTINDIHAN 32 y/o, Thereisnogodistan FC Image (playing in the Fleftic Premier League)
Karimabdul became a rising star within both Abanhfleft and Oontaz when he scored a number of brilliant goals for Thereisnogodistan in the now-defunct Multiverse Premier League. His stock only rose up even further with his contributions to helping Thereisnogodistan get promoted to the Fleftic Premier League. He is the playmaking kind of attacking midfielder, setting up his teammates in scoring positions and holding up the ball if necessary. If he has a weakness, though, it's that sometimes he waits until he's crowded by the defense before making a pass. He's also making his first appearance for the national team since Magomedun Mangudadatu broke his leg in three places in an undislosed accident outside of the pitch.

LM: ZULFIQLI bin Alisher 30 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia)
Sometimes, there comes a time that a team becomes so full of talent in the midfield that someone has to be dropped for the sake of the other players. Zulfiqli was... someone who had this happen to him. Everyone knows of Godric Wexler's reputation for finding and producing world class players from relative unknowns. He had done much the same with Zulfiqli, but unfortunately for the Oontaznik, his quality only appeared when Wexler had finally fixed his problems in his midfield. He knew that Zulfiqli would need starting minutes if he was to keep his spot in the starting eleven of the Oontaz national team, and that's why he was loaned to Pridnestrovia's Union Rheinburg. And now Zulfiqli's a vital component to the Eisern Union's surprise title challenge in the Pridnestrovian Super League.
IMPORTANT: This player should always be referred to as Zulfiqli since bin Alisher is a patronym.

FW: Eduardo ESTEVEZ 30 y/o, FK Torpedo Telgrad Image (Arioslavia)
Eduardo is a decent striker for his age, and there's definitely room for him to grow and take up Ador Macaspac's mantle when Oontaz Dert Li Ng's star striker finally decides to hang up his boots. But it looks like this won't be the case, as Teofisto Abcede surprised everyone else and took over Estevez's spot as Macaspac's backup striker option. Still, there's no denying that Eduardo can become one of Oontaz's best strikers after the age of Dominador Macaspac draws to a close, but it's up to him to realize that potential. Santos FC sold him to Arioslavia's FK Torpedo Telgrad in exchange for Alexey Bulganin. Now starting in place of the retired Ador Macaspac, who has become the new team manager after Emir Usamah was sacked.

RESERVES
GK: Septimio BARRANQUILLANO 34 y/o, Botafogo de Maranao Image, alternate captain
Maranao is renowned in Oontaz as being one of the best football academies, if not the best, in the country. It also has a reputation of producing good goalkeepers from its ranks. Unfortunately, Septimio is not one of those good keepers. Sure, he's decent, and can pull off a save that could be considered world-class, but for all intents and purposes, if he really was one of the good keepers, he would not be playing in Oontaz anymore, especially not for a mid-table side like Botafogo.

GK: Usamah ROBERTS-INGLES 26 y/o, Botafogo de Maranao Image
At least Botafogo's goalkeeper academy produced another good one. Unfortunately for him, he's both too young to be the national team's starting keeper, and he's also the son of a marriage between an Oontaznik and a foreigner, so discrimination is coming into play in here. But not by much, because he's so good and the other keepers are so... crap that Emir Usamah had no choice but to call him up even though both of them know that goalie Usamah won't get to play while Emir Usamah's the manager.

DEF: Alimuddin DIMAGIBA 37 y/o, Deportivo Mangudadatu Image
Alimuddin is probably the only reason why Deportivo Mangudadatu is still in the National League even though the team is basically relegation material. He's the only player on that team who looks like he still gives a f--- if the team wins or loses. All of the other players around him is his club look like they don't even care anymore, and it's a wonder why he hasn't asked to be transferred to another team. Maybe because he knows that only Mangudadatu's rivals, Racing Al-Ampatuan, would be willing to buy him for the inflated price that he knows that Deportivo will attach to him. If he has any fault in him, it's that he's too loyal to something and would not, could not let go even given time.

DEF: Zenofilo BATOBALANI 31 y/o, Racing Al-Ampatuan Image
It's not a real Oontaznik national football team if there isn't any player from Racing Al-Ampatuan in the roster, and Batobalani fits that role nicely. Al-Ampatuan used to be one of the biggest teams in Oontaz, constantly competing with Santos and Botafogo for titles and cups, but lately they've been on a bit of a decline, and now they're considered relegation fodder just like their traditional rivals, Deportivo Mangudadatu. Batobalani once had a future of being one of the greatest Oontaznik defenders of all time, and not just the present time but of all time. But instead of moving on to more prestigious teams and letting his talent get noticed, he decided to stick it out with the constant relegation scraps between Mangudadatu and Al-Ampatuan. Perhaps it would be prudent not to mention the loaded contract that he was given by the team owners, who have been accused of masterminding one of the greatest massacres in recent history, and also one of the biggest benefactors of the nation's endemic corruption culture...

DEF: Albert James DIMACATARUNGAN 33 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image
Dimacatarungan's surname means "unfair" in the Mayin language, but this time, there's nothing unfair about his being on the bench. Dimacatarungan shouldn't even be anywhere near the Oontaz national team, but since he's a member of Clan Dimacatarungan, he gets a spot in the final roster. At least Emir Usamah isn't stupid enough to choose him over Estong Campanilla who, as said before, has, at least, a definite chance of becoming an actual quality player instead of Dimacatarungan, who is just plain shit. Strange to see him still in the team now that Emir Usamah is gone...

DEF: Noah CALANOY 31 y/o, Malabon SC Image (Abanhfleft)
Malabon may not have had the best of seasons in the FPL but Noah Calanoy stepped up and became one of the few bright spots in the Magpies' season as he stepped up to replace the likes of Redwood Simpson and Setrak Abrahamyan in an effort to plug Malabon's defensive leaks. It may not have worked out in the end for Malabon but Calanoy showed enough quality in defense to warrant his first ever international call-up for the Oontaznik national team.

MID: Ronson "Ronnie" RAMIREZ 29 y/o, Revanigruud Riversharks Image (Cosumar)
Georges Leblanc spent 5 million new penenks to get Ramirez from Real Altamarino to the May 26 Memorial, but it seems a little bit too soon to say if he's had any impact in the Blue Tribesmen, and Leblanc has seen it fit to loan Ramirez out to Real Mikkaleth, who will be making to make yet another promotion push next season. Ronnie is more of a winger than a proper midfielder, but since Oontazniks never really believed in investing in proper wingers, Ronnie can fill in for that central midfield role, but not as well as when he's deployed as a real winger. Still, at least he's got a chance of breaking through and becoming a good and decent player, unlike the majority of the rest of his teammates.

MID: Macario "Mac-Mac" CORTES 30 y/o, Easthaven Centurion Image (Super-Llamaland)
Yet another promising Oontaznik youngster lured away from his home by the prestige and glamour of the Fleftic Premier League. The good thing is that Emir Usamah is setting up the team for the future, meaning that he's getting the most promising young Oontaznik players and getting them playing time with the senior team, which he knows will eventually be replaced by the youngsters once the veteran players grow old and retire. At least his reasons for being on the bench are much more justified than the others: he's still a little bit too young to be playing in the first team, and Magomedun Mangudadatu is still the best in the game in his position as CAM, which is also Mac-Mac's favored playing position. At least he gets to learn from one of the best.

MID: Josef "Joey Boy" MACALACAN 33 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia)
Joey Boy is the classic box-to-box midfielder, balancing offensive and defensive duties and covering as much of the pitch as possible. Unfortunately, he has a tendency to focus on one specific duty for too long, and by the duty he could mentally shift himself from being an attacking player to a defensive player or vice versa, it's often too late, and the defense had been overrun by a competent opponent.

FW: Felix NAVIDAD 26 y/o, RCD Baler Image
Out of the surprise team of the season is the Young Player of the Season of the 2023-24 Oontaznik First Division. Felix is all about pace, pace, and more pace. He also makes use of his ability to turn on a dime to roam all over the pitch and distract defenders. Yes, this does mean that he doesn't score a lot of goals himself for a forward player but does it count when it's his ability to pull defenders away that results in his teammates scoring anyway?

FW: MARCRIS Mas 26 y/o, Sportif Ab Gon Image (Copper Cuprum)
Now here is a player whom no one was expecting to be anywhere near a football team, let alone the Oontaznik national team. Marcris was born Maricris Mas, a woman, and had actually participated in the women's teams of Vigan Athletic and then Botafogo de Maranao before undergoing sexual reassignment surgery and revealing himself as a transgender man just about two years ago. His uncertain status has forced him out of Oontaznik clubs but he has found a new home in Ab Gon in Copper Cuprum. His main assets are strength and hold-up play but he also has a beautiful flick that looks absolutely fine when it connects with another teammate. But when said flick ends up sending the ball straight to the opposition, it's a wasteful and needless tactic.

FW: Arthur SUPRATNO 22 y/o, Malabon SC Image (Abanhfleft)
Supratno is in very much the same situation as his FPL teammate Noah Calanoy. Supratno did his best to back up Kevin Kelvin in terms of scoring goals but in the end, Malabon still fell short of getting back into at least the Globe Cup places despite his twelve goals in all competitions. But Supratno is young, and some experience in an international tournament can't do him any harm whatsoever.

The GFF is delighted to present our World Cup 81 starting 11. We tend to play our football the same way we play our stock market, aggressive. Our 3-2-2-3 formation is designed to pile on pressure and block out escape routes for opposing defenders.

[img]THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM OF MARYLOUPE

Joining their first world cup, World Cup 79, the Maryloupins' journey was ups and downs. They didn't do so well in that one, resulting in an embarrassing 9th(or 10th) place. However, they picked up stones(an idiom I created) and appeared in the top 3 places in Group 12 during the World Cup 80, before losing 2 humiliating loses to Damukuni in the playoff rounds. In the upcoming World Cup, Maryloupe will strive not only to make their first group stage appearance, but to also make their country proud.

Suzanne KASPER-MICHAEL:
Being the only woman in the team, Suzanne might feel uncomfortable. However, in the past few seasons of the Women's Premier League, she has proved herself. For 4 consecutive seasons, she was the top scorer and her passing accuracy rate was
an immense 98.6%. She was a contender for the past World Cup, but she did not earn a place in the roster. In the previous season however, she has put in much effort to prove Ben Lewis that she too has the potential to create something.

SavojarSports.sj - inside reports from all Savojarna
Savojarna's National Team: Young Blood for Cassadaigua

Football is a highly popular sport in Savojarna, even though it usually has to take the #2 spot behind ice hockey. Thanks to bigger stadia, the Savojar Futbol Serien (SFS) still manages to draw the highest average attendance numbers in the country year after year and is generally considered a fast-growing league offering lots of openings for young players. Savojarna's top team is ranked 28th in the world, and following the success of the women's national team in the past World Cup campaign, the men are under pressure to follow up. The focus of Savojar football is traditionally on tactics, teamplay and athleticism. The young team fielded by Arnulf Viljansson is a good mix from experienced players and young guys, and gets supported by the former WC player Nick Orlov as assistant coach. The team focuses on defensive stability and deadly, swift counters over the wings, where they have their two most dangerous and fastest players in Jashkin and Voynov.

LINEUP AND TACTICS

Viljansson employs a 4-2-3-1 with two wingers that often cut into the box and try to score themselves, and two fullbacks that join the attack if they can to offer a possibility of a cross to the centre. Without the ball, they usually use the forward and the winger on the side with the ball to put pressure onto the opponent, but mostly wait to catch the attack with their double-six to launch a quick counter out of the midfield. In defence, they often try to push the opponent to the outsides and rely on the control of Jarnström as well as the size and strength of their centre-backs to win aerial superiority in the box. If ahead, the formation often shifts into a 4-4-1-1 (in its extreme form with Voynov replaced by Groen); if behind, they often switch to a 4-4-2 with Ryberg or Jotansson replacing one of the defensive midfielders. Voynov and Jashkin then fall more to the sides, making the formation reminiscent of a 4-2-4, and in extreme cases a 3-3-4 with Poulsen replacing a centre-back.

Goalkeeper: Anders Jarnström
Jarnström is Savojarna's number one goalkeeper and has been so since the nation's debut on the international stage. Despite his age, he is still a strong goalie who has great oversight and control of his box. His reflexes are around average, but thanks to size and jumping power (as well as very strong positioning) he is hard to beat. His replacement is Fridtjof Rolfrsson, a spectacular and athletic goalkeeper who sticks to the line more. He might play if Savojarna are already qualified before their final group match, while Thomas Larsen is not expected to play unless there are injuries.

Defence: Bjarne Thorvaldsson, Simon Omark, Denis Metanov, Alexey Nurkanen
Both fullbacks (Thorvaldsson and Nurkanen) are similar types of players, both very fast and good at crossing the ball into dangerous areas. They often join the attack to create an overweight on one side while their respective winger cuts to the middle and opens up space. In defence, especially Thorvaldsson works a lot with his size and strength, while Nurkanen employs his speed a bit more. In the centre, there is a rather clear division between Omark, who is a positionally strong and fast defender whose task is to organise the defence and start the attack if he gets hold of the ball, and Metanov who is much slower but taller and stronger, playing a classic centre-back role. The replacement LB Jorgen Hallsen is likely to come into play if Savojarna are ahead, as he is a more typical left back and joins the offence less often, being a tough and hard to get rid of player. Flemming Skov has been called up following a very successful U21 campaign and is a fast player with lots of stamina, but similarly offensive to Nurkanen and somewhat unlikely to play much due to their many similarities. In the centre, Granlund and Ullqvist are more or less typical Savojar centre-backs: tall and strong, hard to pass and dangerous at standards, but somewhat limited with the ball. Either may replace Metanov as they offer more speed (but less routine), but it is likely that Omark will start and finish most games.

Defensive Midfield: Joonas Andersson, Niklas Hoyberg
There is a clear division of labour in the Savojar defensive midfield, as it is divided between the defensive specialist Andersson and the more creative Hoyberg. Andersson's role is to stop attacks as early as possible and make it hard for attackers to get by him, relying on his physique and stamina to make the life of the opposing playmaker hell on earth. His partner Hoyberg powers and orchestrates the match from behind, distributing balls and launching counters. Against offensive teams, he may also support Andersson and has his defensive qualities, but has his strength in creation. Libor Milanov is almost a one-for-one replacement of Andersson, but is a bit more aggressive and more talented in terms of offensive creation.

Offensive Midfield: Krister Voynov, Petteri Hytönen, Mikhail Jashkin
Jashkin is a fast wingers with a dangerous shot or cross, and searches for opportunities wherever he can as proven in the U21 tournament. He is known for a deadly eye and his laser-like passes. His counterpart Krister Voynov is one of the most followed talents of Savojarna and much revered. The fast winger is capable of very dangerous crosses, but his true strength lays in his great vision and his ability to pose a continuous threat to the goal together with a helping left-back. Voynov can both score assists by crossing the ball and goals by pulling inwards. Between them, Hytönen is the playmaker of the team but may be replaced by Morten Poulsen if more speed is required. Poulsen is the creative mind of the U21 team and a very quick player for the counter-attack. His left foot is very accurate and given his young age, he is already very cool under pressure. On the wings, Groen and Mertonen provide a bit more security and are more defensive-minded, but also more conservative in terms of their offensive play. They are likely coming on the field if a lead needs to be preserved, feeding the strikers with good passes and securing the wings against attacks, but cannot offer as much of a threat as Voynov and Jashkin.

Forward: Perttu Karjanen
Perttu Karjanen is the captain and record goal scorer of Savojarna and will lead the team on the field with clever positioning and a deadly shot. Compared to his replacements, he is not as strong with his head due to lower size, but has a lot more speed and is more versatile. If he gets shielded too much, he often drops back to the offensive midfield to operate together with Hytönen to create chances for the wingers. His replacements Ryberg and Jotansson are typical close-range strikers and goalgetters, lurking near the box for a cross, pass or to create space for Voynov and Jashkin. Both are over 190 cm tall, meaning they are at least level or even taller with most centre-backs. While Ryberg relies mostly on that fact and his superior strength, Jotansson also has great command of the ball and a strong distance shot, making both valid alternatives to Karjanen.

Busoga Islands National Team

Information
Country code: BUS
Denonym: Busogans/Busoga Islanders/Islanders(Busoga Islanders is the formal term; many Banijans call them Busogans, while locals refer to themselves simply as Islanders, which will be the terminology used by the journalists of this country)
Association: Busoga Islander Soccer Association(BISA)
Manager: Starfire (Pegasus - female), 45 years old, native of the Equestrian States. Starfire is a manager who excels at getting the most out of whatever she's given, regularly keeping the Ponyville Galaxy from relegation with a keen eye for tactics and seemingly boundless optimism that keeps spirits up in the locker room. Starfire was Moon Dust's long-time student as an assistant coach at Ponyville United and pundits tend to think more highly of the pegasus than her club's place in the table might suggest. She has been largely popular so far as the Islander manager- even with a poor AOCAF outing, winning all three group games was seen as a positive and even with their early knockout loss to the Freeport Isles, BISA has given her an extension to coach through the World Cup 82 cycle- she was originally under contract through the end of the World Cup 81 cycle.
Senior Assistant Manager: Yamma Mbye. 36 years old, doubles as the new executive director of the Busoga Islands Regional Youth Academy. Spent the twilight of her professional career when she was part of a wave of Banijan female players that went to the Equestrian States, playing for the Manetreal Impact. Just announcing her retirement from the playing scene at 36, she was hired quickly by Starfire to be the Assistant Manager, and they had a good working relationship at the latest AOCAF. She said that connections they shared within the Equestrian States, as well as her own connections in the Busoga Islands, would allow her to be an 'invaluable asset' for the transition.
Captain: Delbin Kasekende
Alternate Captain: Robel Abeselome
Home Kits: Red
Away Kits: Black
Alternate: White

Select Player Biographies

1. GK Delbin Kasekende

Delbin Kasekende used to be the permanent number one for the Banijan national team, tending the net for the entirety of the World Cup 79 cycle and the entirety of the World Cup 80 cycle. The veteran goalkeeper has won back-to-back gold glove campaigns with Herzegovina City FC, including captaining Herzegovina City FC to an undefeated season in last season's title run, winning his first professional trophy at the club level. He toiled a long time for Dukuma SC, his hometown and boyhood club. He is a native of Dukuma, Busoga Islands. Dukuma SC has long been ridiculed as the worst club in the BSL, finishing in last place in three out of six seasons of BSL play. Two seasons ago, he began switching to Herzegovina City FC to chase after a much-deserved title he clearly wasn't winning in Banija, and did so.

He was in line to take the armband for the Banijan national team after Kiggwe Mavuto's retirement from the national side. Goalkeeping, of course, in World Cup 80, he had an excellent tournament and got rave reviews. But, of course, matters at home took quite a turn, with drought and ensuring war with the Equestrian States leading towards full independence for the Busoga Islands. And, like a number of players, after BISA and the RBSA negotiated an agreement, many players, like himself, had decisions to make- which country would they represent?

The eyes of the sporting world within the country were on him. With Toyuwa Okafor choosing to play for Banija, and Berihu Abeselome choosing to switch his allegiance to the Busoga Islands, it was Kasekende who faced all the pressure. Which would he choose? And after struggling, he chose to go home, to the Busoga Islands. He's received a lot of pushback for that decision at Herzegovina City FC, of course- whose fans are known for being right-wing and nationalistic. He ended up finishing the previous season, however, without much incident at club for his decision. But, of course, he holds the distinction of being one of few players to start a World Cup Qualifier, a Cup of Harmony match, a World Cup Finals match, and a Baptism of Fire match. He's probably one of the only players ever to do so in exactly that order- though, of course, that is nearly impossible for us to verify. He is big, 6'4, and with a few years left at the international level, he will forever be known as the first ever captain for the Busoga Islands national team, a feat that he is extremely proud of.

2. RB Berihu Abeselome

The other member of Banija's first ever World Cup team who is on this side, being on the roster, though on the bench, for the World Cup 80 Finals, he lost his starting spot halfway through qualifying, when Banija's new manager came in and redid the entire back line. Of course, the new look backline worked wonders, as they helped lead Banija on a 10 game competitive undefeated run en route to their first ever appearance at a World Cup, World Cup 80.

He's spent the majority of his professional career playing in the Crystal Empire, starting for Crystalopolis City, regarded by many as the class of the United League. He was an obvious choice to be one of the key players on this squad- Starfire has seen him play, up close, as she has managed Ponyville Galaxy. He is the youngest of the three who are expected to be leaders, and after a cycle, he will, naturally, be expected to take the armband from Delbin Kasekende when he eventually retires.

He will be a threat, and a force, for the team. He has seemingly endless amounts of energy- meaning that he can turn defense into offense quickly, and will be prone to look for the counter-attack. And, of course, he has some experience, playing for a national team, and playing in the World Cup. Expect him to be part of the emotional heartbeat of this squad as they enter World Cup Qualifying, and their first ever World Cup Qualification campaign.

Assistant Manager: Ezekial Charlestown, Aged

Spiel: Years of sporadic attempts at a footballing strategy, and appearances in three regional football tournaments (Copa Rushmori, Campionato Esportiva & IAC) over the years have led to Mareibat, somehow never appearing the multiverse's premier world competition, the World Cup. However, with new Imperator Jhon Cossack at the helm of the nation, the MBC has finally been granted permission to enter the big stuff, and so a Baptism of Fire performance is in order.

Looking at the team, Thorgen Lillehammer is one of the stars in goal, while there is a smattering of decent players (both young and old) throughout the team. They'll be wanting to go far in this mammoth competition.

National Football Team

Former Baptism of Fire winners, twice World Champions and three-time winners of the AOCAF Cup. Audioslavia have played over a thousand games in international football over the years, and hope for around 20 more this cycle.

Overview
Audioslavia returned to international football for World Cup 80, missing out on the finals in the playoffs before reaching the final of the Cup of Harmony.

Historically, the national side has a history of doing well in tournaments but losing in the final game. The ‘Audioslavian Curse’ was temporarily lifted for cycles 59 to 65, during which time the Bulls won two World Cups, three AOCAF Cups and a Baptism of Fire tournament. Since then, old habits have returned. Audioslavia continued to be a superpower of world football, albeit losing in the final of World Cups 67, 70 and 76, before ‘declining to enter’ World Cup 79.

Stadium
Audioslavia’s home stadium is the 66 Stadium, referred to as the Arena Kirola for advertising purposes. One could call the Kirola Arena 'modern', but as the word tends to imply abstract minimalism and modest use of space, the word isn't quite the right one to use. The arena features a large shopping complex, complete with cinema, an array of chain cafes and restaurants, three gyms, a swimming pool and even a sauna. The conference rooms are numerous, large and lavish, and the media centre for visiting journalists and television crews is arguably one of the biggest and hi-tech in the world.

As for the football part of the stadium, one could be forgiven for thinking it was an afterthought, squeezed in at the last minute between the vast media complex and larger of two fast food restaurants. In truth, the narrow, long pitch is perfectly suited to the cautious, defensive, kontrapuntzeka brand of football played by the Audioslavian national team and adopted by club tenants 1830 Cathair. The narrow playing area, towering stands (the FFA's insistence on large, comfortable seating for each punter necessitated the stadium's vertigo-inducing height, with three tiers encircling the pitch) and large roof lets little light in during the day, but keeps the sound of the crowd echoing around the arena allowing for a deafening atmosphere. The the state-of-the-art floodlight system, bright white goal goal nets and high, white walls between the grass and the stands - onto which murals are painted before big international games - gives the stadium a distinctive look, perfectly suited to live television.

Players
‘4-1-2-3’ may seem to be an attacking formation, but don’t be led astray by numbers. Seven of the starting eleven are defensively minded players, with only Oljer (in the false-nine position, Fraser, Desya and playmaker Borjon renowned for their abilities going forward. Audioslavia will keep things tight with neither Baran nor Robertson venturing too far forward except for when the side counter-attack. Defensive-midfielder Holsen will rarely get forward, and Boiteux’s duties are often to stifle opposition counter-attacks and form a link from defence to attack.

Audioslavian football teams are traditionally on the lean side, with few players standing over 185cm tall. Notable exceptions this cycle are the strikers Fraser and Desya Kuznetsov, upon whose broad shoulders the team’s goalscoring responsibilities are lain. Other than size, the two players couldn’t be more different. Fraser, a quiet, capable captain leading by example. Kuznetsov is occasionally a raving maniac.

Style
Kontrapuntzeka, a dialectal word for counter-attack, has long been Audioslavia’s weapon of choice. The footballing ethos of the isle has long been that, in order to a score a goal, you must first bring your opponent out of its shell. Even against ‘weaker’ teams, Audioslavia tend to line up cautiously, even if they do expect to have the lion’s share of possession.

Audioslavians tend to be very fit, and have a habit of stealing games at the death when their opponents tire. On the negative side, such emphasis on physical fitness and tactical nous does mean there’s less time for technique drills. Audioslavian footballers are typically a couple of notches below their international counterparts in terms of ball control and pure technique.
