HINODEJIN INTERCOLLEGIATE FOOTBALL LEAGUE
A new generation takes the field - Hinodejin Intercollegiate preview
Article written by recently admitted to the Royal Academy student Aiko Sakuraba

Well... this is certainly weird. Together with many of the big names of the All-Hinodejin Youth Football League, I too find myself in a new stage of my life, attending the Royal Academy. I sincerely hope they won't disappoint... but hey, enough about me. For the first time ever, I get to talk about the Hinodejin Intercollegiate Football League so let's start.
The Hinodejin Intercollegiate Football League had a bit of a weird season last time around, with eight conferences of twenty teams taking part on an experimental season, only for the football to be noticeably boring and with few good names that the national team could make use of. With that in mind, the HIFL chose to make some major changes, turning to a more competitive format, not to mention a hefty sponsoring package from national channel KKTT, who now gets the honour of displaying some of the finest upcoming names of Hinodejin football.
Twenty-four teams take to the fields of the nation with the goal of gaining possession of the Book of Athena... Man, just imagine how beautiful it'd look back at the Royal Academy campus, eh? Just me? Aw.

BASQUE UNIVERSITY
Basuku-Hitoshi, Nashihana
Notable Names: Eneko Tachibana (RM/CM, FR), Ander Tachibana (LM/CM, FR), Andoni Suzuki (CB, FR), Mao Joan Inoue (ST, FR), Luiza Beata Sasaki (GK, FR), Manami Arruti-Ueno (DM, FR)
While faring pretty poorly at the Polaris Conference, a mere 10th out of 20 in a Conference with teams like Chokoboshima Flight Academy and, funnily enough, the Burakuriri State University that failed to sign up for the new league after being Conference Champions the previous season. With that in mind, the Bulls decided to work hard in changing their status as a joke team into a serious contender, but not enough to the point of lifting their infamous ban on non-Basque students.
The University's first step was to hire a foreign manager: Vilfredo Corsi, an Audioslavian that previously played for Cazadores Cathair and Eletti Valligiani on his first managerial stint and from there, tried to get any respectable young names.
Tactically, the Bulls live and die on the Tachibana brothers. Natives of the Nashihana province might know of the infamously poor relation between the Tachibanas and the Basque University and the twins are apparently there to fix their family's history at the institution. With Ander at the lead as the team's captain while Eneko provides the speed, together with the promising Luiza Beata Sasaki.
The Bulls are predicted to finish somewhere in the middle. The lack of names and team chemistry are the team's problems, although Corsi might strike gold soon if granted a broader range of possible recruits... with rumours of the University eyeing out a certain show of prospective Audioslavian players...

HIMAWARI UNIVERSITY
Kazama, Himawari
Notable Names: Ken Wakamaruichi (GK, FR), Momoko Ichibonji (ST, FR), Natsushiko Saito (CB, FR), Sayu Ooyama (DM, FR), Hiroshi Nishimoto (OM/CF, FR), Rei Fujiwara (CM/DM, FR)
Last season saw the Himawari University Suns reach a respectable, fair third place on the tables although no major names came out of the team that graduated that season. The result, at first, was of a very barebones squad for this season, which should spell disaster.
Alas, the Suns saw the writing on the wall and chose to focus hard on their recruiting. The team also lucked out on bringing two local stars in Wakamaruichi and Momoko Ichibonji, although many are a bit skeptical if keeping the two together should help out affairs throughout the season. The other pieces brought along are also local Himawari province kids, with names like Natsushiko Saito and Sayu Ooyama being reported to be fairly good players out of the Himawari School State League.
Weirdly enough, the Suns like to play in the middle of the field, avoiding the sides like the plague due to a sincere lack of players that make use of the sides. Instead, they'll use Rei Fujiwara's leadership talents to prop themselves up the field where Nishimoto and Ichibonji should be able to hit most of the goals.
While the Suns are pretty easy to handle tactically, their talent is noticeable and they should be on the run for a higher position.

HYLIA UNIVERSITY
Ikidomari, Kameria
Notable Names: Tanui Itsubaku (ST, FR), Sephi Nell Kirishima (OM/CM/CF, FR), Pherem Mutsuga (LM, FR), Phaphie Oferemi (RB, FR), Lollo Bakomi (GK, FR), Miramu Noronku (CB/DM, FR)
The Archers representing Hylia University, one of the first major institutions with specific rules for students, in this case, being open solely for Hylians failed to get past the eleventh position in a powerful Steam Conference. To change that, several members of the original squad were dropped from the line-up, replaced with a group of promising recruits and some walk-ins.
That said, the limited recruiting pool hurt this team hard, with only Tanui Itsubaku garnering a lot of heat. Reportedly, the University did look hard for prospects but the lack of a high school set specifically for Hylians has made their job pretty hard.
The team isn't really in thin ice regarding their tactics, with them having enough options to float the ball all over the field, including names like Pherem Mutsuga and Phaphie Oferemi helping out in the sides, even if the team will probably depend strongly on Tanui Itsubaku and Sephi Nell Kirishima, while fans pray for the day where Tambaru Matsuda and Teku Santen.
Hylia will probably be in the fight to avoid the lower positions unless Itsubaku and Kirishima catch on fire.

IMPERIAL FORCES ACADEMY
Seidoshi, Uchina
Notable Names: Gintoki Sakata (CB/CM/OM, FR), Kotaro Katsura (CM/OM/ST, FR), Myozan Namezono (GK, FR), Seira Muchiko (LM/LB/CB/CM, FR), Shihona Tada (RM/CM, FR), Tenmu Tsu'umutapoa (CB/DM, FR), Kikumi Kondou (LM/SS, FR)
Last season saw a group of senior players take the Samurai to lead the Imperial Forces Academy to a respectable fifth place in a tough Conference. With several names bowing out, the Imperial Forces team became one of the major questions in the pre-season.
The team replied by picking up a group of very promising players and giving them the option to serve the Empire. They all agreed, all with different reasons such as love for the empire (Kotaro Katsura), family ties (Myozan Namezono) or not having better options (Gintoki Sakata).
Tactically, they play a brand of Total Football not unlike nations of the past, with players usually playing different positions whenever needed. Versatility is the keyword at the Empire.
They're currently one of the four greatest squads in the league and should be contenders for the top of the league.

Image
KAMERIA UNIVERSITY
Koa, Kameria
Notable Names: Tai Mizuno (CM/OM, FR), Mänuchiro Bikato (LW/RW/OM/CF, FR), Chung Ho (DM, FR), Rina Lazareva (GK, FR), Cristina Konovalova (LB/CB/RB, FR)
One of the earliest Universities of the Empire, Kameria didn't do much in the grand stage of things although their sixth place was considered a success regarding their roster, most of them not interested in football.
The team went through some major changes and this new Thunder squad has some interesting names all around. Walk-ins Chung Ho, Rina Lazareva and Cristina Konovalova have a lot to show on the field but most people are interested in seeing what Tai Mizuno, a fairly overlooked player from Kazama All-Schools last season.
Kameria's tactical plans rely heavily on the speed and versatility of Bikato, a newcomer from Maniwa International HS that could prove to be very helpful for this squad.
This season doesn't look great for Kameria as the team is stuck depending on the talents of Mizuno and Bikato, with nothing else really putting a lot of a battle.

Image
KANSHIRO UNIVERSITY
Kanshiro, Nishikoku
Notable Names: Gim Jeong-Hun (CB, FR), Choe Ji-Sang (DM/CM, FR), Gang Ji-Hoon (ST, FR), Baek Doo-San (CB/DM, FR), Guiying Sung (CF/OM, FR), Diệp Ngô (RM, FR), Linh Ngô (LM, FR)
Last season's fourteenth placers at the Tulip Conference were clearly out of their league last season and the fact they're in the top tier is way more based after the mere fact that they were invited and accepted rather than actual football prowess. One of the main jewels of Kanshiro, the University has one of the highest standards Academically, but little to talk about in the athletics field.
With that on the mind, the Dragons built themselves a notable team around Choe Ji-Sang, an overlooked player with fantastic leadership skills and enough talent to serve as the heart of this team. Not all recruits here are exactly solid, lots of doubts hover around the Ngô sisters, Linh and Diệp, per example, as their past misconducts can be quite problematic.
The current tactic plans of Kanshiro are simple: pass the ball to Choe Ji-Sang and he'll come up with something. The recruitment brought on several players that are, at least, decent at their tasks. If the ball gets to Gang Ji-Hoon, the team from the Joseon Plains can be quite the threat.
As is, the Dragons have rebuilt from last season and could have a good shot at the playoffs.

Image
KUROBA UNIVERSITY
Gagameru, Kuroba
Notable Names: Somchai Metharon (OM, FR), Juurou Watanabe (LB, FR), Buana Agus (CM, FR), Sakae Hakugi (RB, FR), Ryotaro Ichizaki (SS, FR), Catreena Skylycorn (CB/DM/CM, FR)
Seventh place of the Furland Conference, yet picked over the superior Kuroba Stateside, the Magic had a... well, Magic style of play but not enough to really go too far last season.
The Magic ended up bringing four really promising players from all parts of the Empire, an interesting group. Metharon is full of flair, Watanabe is Quick, Buana Agus is surprisingly flexible and Sakae Hakugi has a lot of game knowledge, surprisingly for her age.
This team is pretty simple tactically. They'll trust the ball to their four stars while Catreena Skylycorn tries hard to help them out.
Kuroba is in the lower end of the table, sadly, but there's promise on this team.

Image
MIDO-HINODE UNIVERSITY
Harumi, Mido-Hinode
Notable Names: Ikki Tokei (OM, FR), Filippa Bakushima (ST, FR), Angelina Lundqvist (CM, FR), Matthias Jönsson (CB, FR), Frederik Hiraguma (GK, FR), Anders-Fuuya Kurota (DM, FR)
And we reach the first team that wasn't in the HIFL last season. Mido-Hinode's geographical location meant that a league without any funding for travels and a lack of fellow universities near Mido-Hinode made it impossible for the finest athletic institution to participate in the league.
Of course, we need to talk about Ikki Tokei, possibly one of the many great players that graduated from the All Hinodejin Youth Football League (with a title no less) and, in a turn of natural progression, joined the legendary Institution. Even then, Mido-Hinode's team is... certainly different, with several names that are actually local names and, appropriately, very good as well. Fans should pay a lot of attention towards Bakushima, Lundqvist and Jönsson.
Mido-Hinode's tactics are flat and simple, but honestly, when you have one of the unquestionably finest Hinodejin players in the history of youth football, they're not wrong at doing so while they wait for other new pieces for this team: give the ball to Ikki Tokei.
This is going to be the Ikki Tokei show to a good extent, but his coadjuvants are capable enough to do their part if he falls. A favourite.

Image
MINADUKI UNIVERSITY
Anbanitsukawa, Anbanabira
Notable Names: Shina Shaukrixux (OM, FR), Hiroki Sichihasuri (CM, FR), Ran Seefiapraa (SS/ST/CF, FR), Sake Tsufuri (GK, FR), Masi Hizze (CM, FR), Chewbacca Matsuda-Kwobe (CB/DM/CM/OM, FR), Yukio Thaamonchese (LM, FR), Nami Gyonsunzu (LB, FR), Sanie-Moe Cheszukish (RB, FR)
The first ever Nekojin-only University, Minaduki was one of the invited sides to participate at the top tier and, very much like other invited sides, they went the full yard to build up a team.
Wildcats' season will probably be propelled by the offensive trio of Shaukrixux, Sichihasuri and Seefiapraa, although other new players such as Tsugumi and Matsuda-Kwobe can be guaranteed to do their part in the squad. Fans that might've hoped for a derby between this institution and Anbanabira University, however, will have to wait for the off-season.
Tactically, the Wildcats are as offensive as they could be, considering that the only player that can really put up a fight is Chewbacca Matsuda-Kwobe, the Southwestern Hinodejin that arrived from an improvised zoo at the former Kingdom of Mali, hence the team needing to depend on a fast game, the one thing they really do have against their opposition.
Minaduki has their season in a bit of a crossroads: should the team be capable of overcoming their opponents with their speed, they should do very well. Thing is, the league's somewhat physical and with only Matsuda-Kwobe as a pillar, the team should struggle. A lack of discipline can be very problematic as well.

Image
NATIONAL BATTLE INSTITUTE
Misakinawa, Misashima
Notable Names: Tora Misawa (CM, JR), Tlalli Koizumi (CM, FR), Yuuki Matsuoka (CB/DM, FR), Kathil Mizumaru (OM, FR), Souya Suda (LM/LB, FR), Shin Kanda (CB, FR), Hoshishito Wakabayashi (GK, FR)
Last season's Rainforest Conference champions found their invitation to the top tier a fair deal, accepting it in the very first week of negotiations. The proud leader in Pokémon studies also looks forward to becoming a regular football force in the nation, although last season's hero Tora Misawa is really the only person they have so far.
With the possibility of scholarships, the National Battle Institute did bring out... well... Tlalli Koizumi out of former girl rock group SHiNE and Yuuki Matsuoka, a former judo team member from Miishima Poly HS.
Tactically, it's more of the same at NBI, Tora Misawa to carry the team against their more talented opponents in an even harder league.
They're by far the weakest team of the league and should only avoid the bottom with sheer luck.

Image
NISHIKOKU UNIVERSITY
Mizuhara, Nishikoku
Notable Names: Mun Seo-Joon (OM, JR), Jun Choi (CM, SO), Cho Ji-Yeong (ST, SO), Min Hakka (LB/LM, FR), Mei Hakka (RB/RM, FR), Han Gyeong (SS, FR), Rhee Ji-U (CB, FR), Park Su-Bin (GK, FR), Nuan Li Laolong (CM/OM/RM/LM, FR)
The Phoenix, Nishikoku's new nickname (subbing out the Fortress), showed offensive might in the national scene, having been the champions of the Tulip Conference before bowing out to Togene at the National Quarter-Finals.
The order of the day should've been to strengthen the defence, which Nishikoku did, but not at the expense of some solid front aid. The Hakka twins Min and Mei play on the fullbacks while Rhee Ji-U will be the team's main choice of a center-back together with a senior from last season. Park Su-Bin takes over the keeper position for a graduate but they all pale in comparison of Nuan Li Laolong, a versatile dragon-bound miss from Mizuhara's southern boroughs.
Little changes at Nishikoku's tactics, the team will want to overpower opponents with their superior offence, although they now have a defence that should be enough to shoot the former Fortress forward.
Nishikoku is in the middle of the pack and will have to make the most of their chances to find themselves on the Play-offs at the end of the season.

Image
UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC
Mitsushima, Heiwashima
Notable Names: Kichirou Yamaguchi (LM, FR), Tatsuma Sakamoto (CB/DM/CM, FR), Kirti Sataraguya (RB/RM, FR), Manon Nanoya (OM, FR), Vibol Keo (ST, FR)
The University of the Pacific is one of the finest academic institutions of the Empire... but infamously lacked a football team. In fact, the creation of a football team for this University was done specifically so they could take part in the tournament.
With that in mind, it was hard to find notable names for this team, although some might be familiar with Vibol Keo, a former Circus clown that was offered the invitation to enroll at the University so that they would have a durable player and Kichirou Yamaguchi might've been considered for some Universities in the past but that's it.
Tactically... well, they're just working with who they got.
A team of walk-ins in the top tier, that's probably not going to end well. Yamaguchi will be the team's star by default. If he goes down, the Waves are in deep trouble.

Image
RAKUN BIOLOGIC ACADEMY
Rakun, Kameria
Notable Names: Shinnosuke Nohara (CM/OM/ST, FR), Ryota Oshiro (ST, FR), Momoe Fujikawa (LM, FR), Shiki Toyotomi (DM, FR), Aristeides Yamada (RM, FR), Matrona Yamada (LM, FR), Jun Tseng (CB, FR)
Known as the weird, shifty team out of Rakun, the Umbrellas' mix of Golem and Human football almost granted them a spot at the national playoffs at the Steam Conference.
This season brings another pack of new names to the mix, although neither of the two Golems being introduced this season (Aristeides and Matrona) is as big of a klutz as Shinnosuke Nohara, the wonderkid from nearby Koa with legends of him being pretty much a demon as a kid.
It's really hard to predict what will be their tactics, although they did seem to focus on their midfield game, with Jun Tseng being the new piece for a defence that really didn't need a whole lot.
Skill-wise, Rakun should be in the middle of the pack, which means they're in contention for the National Playoffs. It's only... well, they're Rakun, it's hard to pin them down.

Image
ROYAL ACADEMY
Asame, Tsutsuji
Notable Names: Maïra Matsuda (CM, FR), Jun Matsuko (GK, FR), Samiya Fujita (RM, FR), Hidayat Fujita (LM, FR), Constanze Schultheiss (DM/CB/RB/LB, FR), Seovael Onoma (RM/DM, FR), Yin Hu (OM, FR)
The Royal Academy, founded by the Asakawa Clan to prepare future members of the clan for positions of power, later ended up being skipped over for more Athletic-based institutions and their poor results last season at their conference gave away that the institution didn't prepare for the tournament.
This time around, they certainly worked a bit on their team, seeing that their recruit class featured two very respectable players in Gerudo girl Maïra Matsuda and very solid keeper Jun Matsuko. The Fujita twins can also be a pain to oppositions and Constanze Schultheiss ranks high as one of the league's top workhorses.
The Garnets' tactical approach is still somewhat basic, with most of the recruits from this season working around the midfielder, although Schultheiss will probably spend most of the time helping out in the defence, eventually appearing as a defensive midfielder once in a while. Opponents should have an easy time if they manage to get through their midfield.
While not as respected in football as they are academically, the Garnets are very much in the run for the Book of Athena and should perform well.

Image
SAKURAHANA UNIVERSITY
Kodoryo, Sakurahana
Notable Names: Keitaro Urashima (RM, JR), Hinata Azuma (LM, JR), Minato Sahashi (OM, SO), Kakeru Aizawa (SS, FR), Ryuunosuke Koromaru (CM, FR), Teodor Svenson (DM, FR), Katsuro Kobayashi (CB, FR), Nana Mokuba (CF, FR), Amélie Nanami Anjou (GK, FR), Nobu Hisakawa (CB, FR)
The Knights did what was expected of them last time around, reaching the national finals but failing to take the trophy home thanks to a strong Tsutsuji University team.
They lost Mutsumi Otohime, who chose to rush her graduation so she could play abroad, something that destroyed the team's Middle Four tactic until recruiting brought in freshman Teodor Svenson all the way from Mido-Hinode. Another person of former royal blood is Amélie of the House of Anjou, both being very unique sights as a result. And you can't ignore Kakeru Aizawa, given how he was supposed to join the University with his brother who, tragically, died after a car accident.
Unfortunately for the opposition, this Knights side is very complete in all parts of the field. Their route to goal will probably be based after Kakeru Aizawa's golden touch and Nana Mokuba's bomber like feet.
Another top contender, the Knights will be problematic for anyone willing to try and take them down. These guys want the Book of Athena and will stop at nothing to do so.

Image
SOMEI-YOSHINO UNIVERSITY
Hinode, Somei-Yoshino
Notable Names: Choji Matsumono-Gide (RB/RM/CM, FR), Ryota Kawaguchi (GK, FR), Akira Nanakawa (CM, FR), Tsuguo Sakakihara (DM, FR), Katsuko Higuchi (CB, FR), Shunmaru Tenryu (CB, FR), Aiya Maekawa (LB, FR), Benito Taketou (LM, FR), Shinsaku Tahara (ST, FR), Masumi Kawata (RM, FR)
Sunrise Conference's runners-up from last season, the Rockets still complain that "The Sports Province of Hinode" got robbed of a spot (and a title) that was rightfully theirs.
The new squad of the Rockets, a result of several of their students graduating and leaving the team, meant the formation of one of the deadliest lineups in the league. Choji Matsumono-Gide, the third-best prospect of the Empire, the Black Panther... well, he's now the team's captain. Names such as Ryota Kawaguchi and Katsuko Higuchi, stars of different sports at their high schools, now get to play football, bringing all their knowledge to this new sport.
Just the fact that this team has such versatile and strong players such as Matsumono-Gide makes their job fairly easy. Still, their myriad of options all around the field should provide them with enough opportunities if their star player ends up in a tight spot.
Notable top contenders, the Rockets will be looking for the title that eluded them last season. Expect these guys to be at the end of the playoffs.

Image
TENTAI UNIVERSITY
Tentai City, Tentai
Notable Names: Takahazu Ozawa (CB, FR), Chin Guan (OM, FR), Yan Jiang (CM, FR), Zenzo Hattori (LM/RM/OM, FR), Irene Hemera Sasaki (CB, FR), Chromosom (FR, DF, DAI), Wu Hou (LB, HIN)
Not very known by athletics, Tentai University was built by Queen Taki after the historic victory in the former Beijing, one of the first major buildings established at the outskirts of the empire's new capital. Last season, they reached a fairly poor thirteenth place in the Tulip Conference.
Their choice this season was to build their squad around a strong defender in Takahazu Ozawa and a talented offensive player in Chin Guan. Scouts have been looking favourably towards Zenzo Hattori, a former ninjitsu student that is apparently willing to give a shot to football, and Irene Hemera Sasaki, while not a fantastic player, she happens to be the first ever Siren to attend the institution.
Tactically, the team will probably use the speed and skill of Zenzo Hattori to serve as the feeder for Yan Jiang up front. Ozawa, Chromosom and Sasaki should be a good back three.
The Hinodejin Capital's main university might not be doing much this time around, but there are enough rocks for the foundation of a strong team here.

Image
TOGENE GIRLS' ACADEMY
Kari, Minamihara
Notable Names: Yuria Taishizuno (OM, SO), Noriko Hisakawa (SS/CF, FR), Chiharu Mirei (LB/LM, FR), Chenda Chey (CB, FR), Yi Min-Ji (OM/RM, FR), Karesinda Adorina (CM/OM, FR), Jun Han (DM, FR), Borte Jusin Matsudaira (CB, FR), Amporn Wattana (RB/RM/DM, FR), Gim Ji-Eun (SS/ST/OM/CM, FR), Sprita Maraĵa (GK, FR)
Fans considered it a shock when the team out of the steppes of Minamihara, like a horde of the old days, to carve a spot in the National Playoffs... only to be promptly booted off in the first round.
To no surprise, Taishizuno became a campus legend after her performances and as a result, caused a boost of willing ladies to join the Academy and endure the climate with plans of becoming footballers. Scouts admit to be fairly impressed that the team actually does have some good pieces to call their own: the ever polite Noriko Hisakawa up front, the speed of Chiharu Mirei, the rough nature of Chenda Chey, not to mention the "Bash Princesses" Matsudaira, Wattana and Ji-Eun.
Pretty much everyone knows how this team will play, it's a team based on offensive prowess, with Taishizuno, Yi Min-Ji, Adorina and Gim Ji-Eun as options to play up front, disregarding less notorious names that are also in the roster. Their defence is strong but not quite as fast, although it might be good that both of their defenders are of very harsh nature.
Once again, the Chicks are in the battle for the lower play-off spots, which is always nice to see.

Image
TSUTSUJI UNIVERSITY
Kitsunemachi, Tsutsuji
Notable Names: Tomoe Mikage (RM/RW, JR), Mizuki Yonomori (LM/LW, SO), Nanami Momozono (CF, SO), Cascolar (MF, FR, DAI), Kaede Munori (OM, FR), Hisako Hanai (ST, FR), Amenemapet Month (CB, FR), Kamekatsu Yamana (LB, FR), Yuri Uchichika (RB, FR), Irie Osano (ST, FR)
The magic trio of Mikage, Yonomori and Momozono brought the Book of Athena to the Foxes after outscoring them one-nil.
For a team looking towards a repeat, the Foxes did bring in some interesting names. It's going to be fun to see how Daineri Cascolar and the Anakari Amenemapet Month adjust to the weather of Tsutsuji while Kamekatsu Yamana brings in a lot of heritage to this football team. A focus has to be given to Kaede Munori, one of the greatest upcoming minds of the Empire... now playing football.
Tactically, Tsutsuji's offence is even more important for the team, what with the influx of names being mostly focused on the offensive half, although most are wondering if the trio will gel with the additions of Munori and Hanai. Irie Osano should be a good back-up on that sense.
The current champs are one of the four teams to beat, clearly a favourite of the league.

Image
UCHINA STATE UNIVERSITY
Irohashima, Uchina
Notable Names: Meiki Fukuhara (RB/LB, FR), Rei Mukuma (CB, FR), Chi Jin-hee (GK, FR), Date Nagasaki (LM/RM, FR), Kyo Ramone (CM, FR), Hiro Ramone (ST, FR), Kazuya Ramone (OM, FR)
Uchina State looked into the hooligan rehab program that Kanshiro institutions have applied recently and decided to run their own version of the program for their debut season at this new tier, hoping to improve on the team's image after last season's 20th place... out of 20.
For a team that rebuilt on a rush, the Rockers are having quite the Sugarbuzz. Date Nagasaki brings a lot of legitimacy to the team as a member of Mashu Elite's youth league squad.
This team is fairly defensive, with most of their notable players being defenders, the offence will really be coordinated by the Ramone brothers, a trio of edgy young men with attitude.
Another team in the middle of the pack looking for a playoff spot. An interesting team, to put it simply.

Image
UME-ABURANA UNIVERSITY
Aoyoh, Ume-Aburana
Notable Names: Usagi Tsukino (OM/LW, JR), Luna Nyakuri (RW, JR), Keita Tamura (CM, FR), Sozen Mino (CB, FR), Um Ji-Ho (ST, FR), Marisa Ohashima (DM, FR)
Last time around, Ume-Aburana found themselves in the Quarter-Finals after topping the Furland Conference. They then proceeded to reach the semi-finals and lose to eventual runners-up Sakurahana.
The partnership between Usagi Tsukino and Luna Nyakuri continues but the team was certainly reinforced with pieces to complement the squad, although only Keita Tamura and Sozen Mino seem to really give a lot to this team.
Because of a sincere lack of major pieces, the team will rely again on the duo of Tsukino and Nyakuri. They're not terrible by any stretch, but the level of the competition might be just too much for the All Blacks.
Ume-Aburana is in the lower half of the league, as far as expectations go, but maybe they can spark another impressive run, even if the odds are even lower now.

UTSUKUSHIMA UNIVERSITY
Mikai, Utsukushima
Notable Names: Kunimichi Sera (ST, FR), Kano Yoshihama (DM, FR), Oriko Totsumi (CB, FR), Mishi Nishigawa (RM, FR), Misha Nishigawa (CM, FR), Mashi Nishigawa (OM, FR)
To give credit where credit is truly due, Yu Hu did a lot for this team last season, when the Jade Conference champions managed to reach the Quarter-Finals of the Nation, where the Waves did better than expected and lost only by three goals to Tsutsuji, the eventual national champions.
Yu Hu's graduation came at the worst time possible, with the Waves having to back up their case for last season's performance, except now they don't have their star. People were recruited, yes, but Kunimichi Sera is a far cry from Hu, even if he has Kano Yoshihama in the back to help him out. The Nishigawa sisters come from their stint at Hanada City HS as well... but they're not that great either.
They probably won't change their tactics, hoping Sera is able to put up a fight for the Waves. The Nishigawa trio should bring their usual shenanigans to the university level, though most wonder if they'll be successful at it.
Currently tied with NBI as the weakest team of the league, not a lot of hope at the Waves' camp.

Image
ZEPPELIN UNIVERSITY
Daiywayasu, Somei-Yoshino
Notable Names: Hatomi Saiki (OM, FR), Sayaka Hamashita (ST, FR), Mino Sajime (CB, FR), Bunjiro Ichida (CM, FR), Niviarsiaq Kaalilasut (LM/RM/CM, FR), Makoto Satou (DM, FR), Shinju Nakahara (CF, FR), Matsu Ichida (CB, FR)
Zeppelin's fourth place in the Sunrise Conference was hardly bad, but far from the standards that the Zeppelin Foundation usually establishes in its' teams.
Maybe due to the institution's more unique stance in recruiting, they were able to bag names such as Mino Sajime and Bunjiro Ichida to join their squad, the financial help provided by the Zeppelin Institution clearly being just too much for them to refuse. It's also very interesting to see players with so much promise in other careers such as Kaalilasut (an accomplished writer as is), kart racer Hatomi Saiki and Judo prospect Makoto Satou.
Zeppelin is very weird in terms of its' tactics, the plan being that they'll try to improvise whenever and play their stars in very odd positions whenever needed. This is somewhat backwards, but it usually builds up some notable versatile players. Kaalilasut should perform well under this system.
One of the teams in the middle of the pack, Zeppelin might be looking into a playoff run, but not really the title. It's a year for building, not for claiming silverware.

ZORA INSTITUTE
Misakinawa, Misashima
Notable Names: Kavon Iperkova (CB/DM/CM/RB/LB, FR), Jela Palmoires (SS, FR), Fuphuh Hatorone (LM, FR), Apan Hitamitos (GK, FR), Utamu Phenenane (OM, FR), Ramena Nunetava (RB/RM, FR), Ipos Murakami (CB, FR)
Having reached third in the Rainforest Conference, it was clear that the Zoras had some things to tinker with before returning to the field this season.
Even if they can't quite claim the likes of Farolume from the high school level yet, there's a very deadly trio this season: Iperkova, Palmoires and Hatorone. You need to give the Zoras credit, ever since they started to care about the sport, they've been deadly.
With a star like Iperkova, the team will probably just have him play a hybrid of all the positions he's able to cover... which means he'll mostly be a midfielder that can cover when needed and dash when necessary. Palmoires should be the team's way to reach the net.
The Zoras are going to be a tough team for pretty much everyone and should be safe into playoff contenders.

Additionally, let's talk about this season's format. All of these twenty-four teams square off twice against each other. The top eight teams go on to play the National Playoffs, where the champion goes on to take the Book of Athena.
The bottom four will have to take part in the "National Invitational Tournament" where all the schools that didn't manage to sign up for the top tier should play.
The Book of Athena final is scheduled to take place in the Eastern Stadium at Istria, Banija. Hope to see you there!

  • Maybe the most notable news in Hinodejin Football right now was the revival of Vulpine Sportif, the former Sunrisian athletic apparel brand that had been on limbo after TomoyoWear chose not to enforce their brand, either as a side company or as a new image for the company as a whole. Nowadays, Hinodejin fans are very much aware that TomoyoWear left the football market, choosing to instead focus on other sports that were "cheaper" to produce for, thus causing the great shift of apparel that many believe will take proper shape this season. Recently, however, Thunisian magnate Titus Marchessault met with TomoyoWear's owners and left as the new owner of Vulpine Sportif, a rebrand of the nation's former sports powerhouse OB Sportif.
The first team to fully witness the presence of Vulpine Sportif so happened to be the Thunisian national football team, who debuts internationally at the Independents Cup, although many do admit the kit is possibly the most important bit of news from that team. Vulpine Sportif is slated to try their hand at the Hinodejin market, the company has already reached deals with the duo from Mashu, Hellowenia and Pascal.
  • The reported comet that hit the city of Midnashima, Itari last week turned out to be, of all things, a football. According to the Hinodejin authorities, the ball actually belongs to the Hinodejin Space Forces' personnel at the Base Tetsuo and was accidentally launched into space by a bored soldier to whom many refer to solely as "Skippy". "Skippy" was given a warning for his behaviour, while locals have already been working at turning the crater (and the ball that is surprisingly somewhat intact from the endeavour) into tourist traps. This also served to confirm that the Hinodejin Empire has indeed been working towards space colonization, although most do agree that it's a bit odd that the Empire's space ambitions have been revealed via the questionable actions of a soldier.
That said, some companies did note that they already broke the news previously, what with their current economic affairs taking place at Stellapolis, the Empire's Main Sattelite.
  • Kento Inoue is looking towards one of the most exquisite records in the history of humanity: the Anbanabira-born 45-year-old man currently has refereed a total of 120 games, ranging from friendlies, amateur fixtures, youth level and Trophy of Eden matches. His goal? Refereeing more than 906 games. Yes. Inoue noted that ever since he finished his refereeing studies, he planned to go for glory as the referee with most games refereed in a season. For this, the man has travelled all throughout the main island, nine hours a day to referee matches. At home, he keeps records of each game, cataloguing them in a book as so as to remind himself of how many are left to be done. The current record of 905 games was set by Hiroshi Sato in the 2055 season, his first game being Trophy of Eden's opener between Shidake Biopower and Kaigi Islander Social Club who both went on to qualify into the KiHi-League as Misdreavus Kaigi and Shidake Gallade, while his final game that season was a Nations' Cup duel between the state teams of Ainushima and Nashihana.
  • The Hinodejin Intercollegiate Top League's playoffs are finally about to start, the eight best teams of the nation already preparing themselves to face each other in order to reach the Book of Athena. Mido-Hinode, the top team of the nation, found themselves a head or two above the competition during the league stage, thanks to the fine strikes of Filippa Bakushima and the sheer talent of Ikki Tokei. The former Mashu Elite HS star has been possibly the one player from that squad to keep consistency, scoring twenty goals which, while beaten by Bakushima (28), was still a pretty good feat. Ume-Aburana, the second-best team, chose to take a different path, focusing on an effective defence that did the deal. Sozen Mino, the All-Blacks' number three proved very effective and deserving of attention. Moving on to third place, Rakun saw the Umbrellas follow the lead of Shinnosuke Nohara, the excentric middle-forward from Kazukabe and reach the third place. Zora Institute's fourth place was attributed to the fine efforts of the Zora community... and of course, the talents of Kalon Iperkova. Pacific (with Tatsuya Sakamoto), Tsutsuji (with the trio of Mikage, Yonomori and Momozono), Imperial Forces (with Sakata, Katsura and a rather re-emerging Namezono) and Somei-Yoshino (with the force of nature known as Choji Matsumono-Gide) are the other four teams qualified for the playoffs.

  • The season is not quite over for the Royal Academy, Minaduki University, Utsukushima University and Kameria University as the four were forcefully invited to play the National Selective. The four were the bottom sides of the league and as such, will have to play a knock-out tournament with every other associated side of the HIFL. The final four guarantee themselves participation at the Top League next season.

YOUTH FOOTBALL
Reborn from the ashes, a new season awaits - Hinodejin Youth Football Preview
Article written by Miishima Polytechnical HS student Shigeru Watanabe

Alright! Please, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Shigeru Watanabe, the newest intern of the Sunrise Club Digest, here to present you a more... well, less related to last season and more of an analysis of what each team brings to the table. Hopefully, my style is superior to Miss Sakuraba from last year.

Image
ARCTIC DREAM SHOPPING MALL YFC
Sega, Miyahiyou
Titles: None
Focus Player: Phelippon Lambert (LM, CMT, 17 y/o)
Fourth place at the second division last time around, the rather freezing town of Sega finally sees top-tier football, albeit in youth level. It's clear that many are interested on seeing Phelippon Lambert's possible final season as a member of the local sponsored team, what with him having to perform well in order to maybe get a shot at an university back at his home nation, but one shouldn't overlook the foreign talent brought in by management, including Daineri acquisitions Coridai and Alundra, Audioslavian prospect Stefano Cosenza and Kalactin-born Juan Nash. Just the fact this team made it to the top tier is quite something, considering how much the town prefers hockey, but whether or not they will fly on top for a while or not is questionable at best.

Image
CHAOLAN ZAIBATSU
Hiun, Kameria
Titles: None
Focus Player: Lala Safari (OM, HIN, 17 y/o)
The Unicorns had their finest season last time around where they managed to finish at fifth place, thanks to a clear overhaul of the squad but also to the impressive efforts of Lala Safari and Tu Kun Huang at the midfield. Of note, among a couple of new signings, they brought in versatile midfielder/offensive piece Kamala Khan from the Indies, which should prove to be a fairly good piece or a super-sub at the right hands.

Image
GERUDO TRADING COMPANY FC
Mui, Tentai
Titles: None
Focus Player: Linkan Pihanka (RB, CMT, 17 y/o)
Getruco's side might be fairly uneasy this time around, Linkan Pihanka is expected to leave after a pretty respectable youth career as a right back, his contributions yet to be fully gauged by the supporters. On the other hand, their defense sees the arrival of the very promising Uraetusouri sisters Aegoomi and Tesoalu while Zakuty and Jiskastnya serve to either backup or take over for the team's strikers. Pihanka hopes to perform his finest season yet and maybe this is the year for something else at Mui?

Image
GET WELL SOON UNITED NAITOGARU NURSERY
Hinode, Somei-Yoshino
Titles: None
Focus Player: Tina Mimikawa (CM, HIN, 16 y/o)
The Nurses return to another season of top-tier football, their game just as physical as before. Fans are very interested to see how Celestina Favelli and Mautau will adjust to the nurses' playstyle, although most are fairly surprised to see where Favelli comes from. Murielis Burgeois, a stalwart of the team's defensive sector that occasionally goes to the attack should be playing her final season as a Nurse, as she reaches 18 at the end of the year.

Image
HANADA CITY HS
Hanada, Somei-Yoshino
Titles: None
Focus Player: Nina Nishigawa (ST/OM, HIN, 15 y/o)
One of the original teams of the League, the Hanada school found itself promoted at the final year of the Nishigawa Beautiful Sisters' Trio. Hanada's real coup de grace was convincing both Antonio Vergara and Garnett Makanza from Osarius to join them, as the school from the city more famous for their Water-type Pokémon gymnasium comes again as a rather weak side when compared to pretty much every other team.

Image
KAZAMA ALL-SCHOOLS FC
Kazama, Himawari
Titles: 2136 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League
Focus Player: Rina Itou (ST, HIN, 16 y/o)
With the departures of Momoko Ichibonji, Ken Wakamaruichi and even Tai Mizuno, the Greens now look to a team that should focus on last season's offensive prospect Rina Itou and newcomer Sakurako Fujioka. The middle has a fair group of individuals such as Momoko Tsukuda, Satoru Inagusei and newcomers Jun Kazama and Yoshirou Nakamura that should help out the team at their efforts. The net has Osarian prospect Shinji Teruzuki on his one year before going to an University as well.

Image
KOHEI CHERRY VILLA HS
Kohei, Nekori
Titles: None
Focus Player: Seong Mi-Na (OM, HIN, 17 y/o)
It's hard to fully support the Cherries' Hooligan Integration Project, but while Kohei did manage to reach the Hinodejin Youth Cup, them barely squeezing out of the relegation zone wasn't a desirable outcome. This season, they have a key prospect in Chung Il-Song, who recently got the largest grades of the Nation's Primaries Exam and also happens to be a fairly talented offensive player. This genius is in the same batch of newbies that also introduces the very cute Choi Myeong-Suk, a former child actress that now looks towards football as a profession in the future.

Image
KOSHU DRAGON GUARD HS
Koshu, Nishikoku
Titles: None
Focus Player: Gun Nam-Gong (CB/DM/CM, HIN, 16 y/o)
Koshu's finest season came when the already solid full-back duo of Kim Dong-Hwan and Kim Jae-Hoon were integrated with a notable pack of former hooligans. Gun Nam-Gong stepped up to the plate and became the team's captain, shredding his former image as a dangerous, fight crazy young man to a respectable prospect. This season, the Dragon Guard sees the addition of Starblaydi Glauco Vega and a very talented offensive midfielder from the steppes of the former Ming Empire, Jiang Mei.

Image
MASHU ELITE HS
Mashu, Somei-Yoshino
Titles: 2138 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League
Focus Player: Imui Akimenagi (SS, HIN, 16 y/o)
The Elite Five departed Mashu last season, giving them the first national title ever. Their departure would've been something dramatic but it was clear that their fellow teammates that still remained are quite capable at the sport. This season sees a somewhat experienced pack of players leading them, chief of those being Imui Akimenagi, one of the squad's current leaders. Of note, they brought in another Hylian in Nifea Sitrembel to replace Myozan Namezono while Luther Fox is in with the hopes of serving as the new coming of Date Nagasaki.

Image
MIISHIMA POLYTECHNICAL HS
Miishima, Kameria
Titles: 2138 All-Hinodejin Youth Football Division 1
Focus Player: Mii Sadaharu (CB/DM/CM/OM/CF, HIN, 17 y/o)
Mii Sadaharu was one of the players many had on their scouting lists before the league started when the then fifteen year old girl joined nearby school Miishima Polytechnical. Three seasons later and the girl already went through a relegation and a promotion she worked to push them through. Although the aid of the Mishima brothers Takuma and Saito certainly did help matters, the real signing of the school was bringing in family member Heihachi Mishima and his... rather harsh training. Of note, the Gears have one of the finest class of new players, with Heihachi's son Kazuya, the rather childish but talented Sakura Kasugano, the genius of Hyo Imawano, Osarian import Emeka Okore and... uh... Ran Hibiki is there as well.

Image
MISUTIKKU-ISEKI DIAMOND MINERS
Misutikku-Iseki, Kameria
Titles: 2137 All-Hinodejin Youth Access Division 1C
Focus Player: Thimiscles Seanclair (GK, YSP, 17 y/o)
The efforts of the Demon trio and Thimiscles Seanclair (last season's Golden Glove) meant that the Diamond Miners were the first ever Hinodejin Youth Cup's (not to be confused with the actual UICA Youth Cup) inaugural runners-up. While Thimiscles Seanclair prepares to see whether or not he'll get to join an university, the team chose not to invest in a reserve keeper, bringing instead a trio of Hinodejin talent to help Areck at the back, including Atsuko Nakashima (who considered joining Project Olimpo) and Minato Uzumaki, who should serve as an option at both center-back and defensive mid.

Image
PROJECT OLIMPO JUTSII
Athena, Jutsii
Titles: 2137 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League, 2138 Hinodejin Youth Cup
Focus Player: Jimmy McCarthy (ST, KAL, 18 y/o)
Olimpo's middling run at the Youth Football League was somewhat saved by their title at the Hinodejin Youth Cup. That said, this team should be somewhat more consistent this season, having not seen anyone leaving now, although pretty much most of the roster should be seeing new teams in the near future. This is also the first season where Jimmy McCarthy, a pleasant surprise from Northwest Kalactin can do playing a full season for the Olympians.

Image
ROYAL MUSIC PREPARATORY HS
Linshu, Hiyena
Titles: None
Focus Player: Siegfried Schtauffen (CB, HIN, 15 y/o)
Following a ruling by the Empress Satomi II, the former Royal Music Academy team was forced to divide itself into a proper Royal Music Academy side that shall play against Universities while a separate team for the U-18 level goes under the name of Preparatory High School. With that, the school was forced to recruit, coming up with several new players such as Hildegard von Krone and Siegfried Schtauffen.

Image
ROYAL THEATER PREPARATORY HS
Kaito, Mikashu
Titles: None
Focus Player: Jian Chan (CM, HIN, 16 y/o)
The recent ruling that Royal Academies should split their squads into an University level side and a High School level side hurt the Royal Theater in that both Chan Zexi and Qiao Jin, both very respectable names at the league. Instead, the Artists expect to build up players such as Jian Chan, Antonio Vergara, Pai Chang, Mui Mui and Son Karin.

Image
SENSO-SHUKUJO LADIES HS
Senso-Shukujo, Tsutsuji
Titles: None
Focus Player: Maria Reyes (RB/CB, STB, 15 y/o)
Senso-Shukujo's efforts towards becoming a respectable top tier team continues as a wave of new players join them. Of note, Maria Reyes signed up while being a Starblaydi international, a first for the league. The eponymous high school will be seeing this as the last season of the Takashima twins Yuki and Yami and regular striker Sakura Nishizawa.

Image
SOUTHERN IRONWORKS GIRLS
Tamani, Turanitai
Titles: None
Focus Player: Kira Nishigakira (CF, HIN, 17 y/o)
With both Delicata Allaire and Kira Nishigakira expecting offers from universities, it's the new generation of players that really calls the attention of fans at Tamani, names such as locals Gila Chen, Chahma Chognut and imports such as Darya Darzi, plus last season's newbies Mikazuki Sawano and Sadako Takeshita.

Image
TOADSTOOL ENTERPRISES
Kinokomura, Kameria
Titles: None
Focus Player: Mariota Gachet (RW, CMT, 17 y/o)
Mariota Gachet's efforts finally paid off and Toadstool Enterprises finally finds themselves at the top tier. With that in mind, the team brought up several players via the transfer window. Of note, however, Toadstool fans hope for Kimi Ishtari, a goblin girl that came all the way from Tamani, having rejected the offer from Southern Ironworks to play as a Toadstool.

Image
ZEPPELIN FOUNDATION
Daiyawayasu, Somei-Yoshino
Titles: 2137 All-Hinodejin Youth Access Division 1B
Focus Player: Shisaru Zeperin (WB/WF, HIN, 17 y/o)
Last season's impressive run by the Zeppelin Foundation sees a couple of new players joining the team, defensive power player Makoto Mizoguchi and offensive prospect Ryu Yeong-Mi. Additionally, outsiders should note that the Zeppelin Foundation isn't a straight affiliate towards the same Foundation's efforts in the University field, which means the Zeppelin University will have to spend some time trying to guarantee team captain Shisaru in their squad next season.

Image
ZORA YOUTH FC
Kamitenabaru, Burakuriri
Titles: None
Focus Player: Karen Itomiko (CB, HIN, 17 y/o)
Itomiko's last season for the Zoras sees a new wave of Zoran prospects such as Peta Kivipepi, Mitis Orasahati, Oras Ojenoki and Lemeta Oloneloto. The Zoras will also be playing at their new home of the Princess Ruto Memorial Field, one of the largest venues of the league.

NATIONAL PLAYOFFS

QUARTER-FINALS
Mido-Hinode University 1-0 Somei-Yoshino University (1-0 agg)
Somei-Yoshino University 2-0 Mido-Hinode University (2-1 agg)
Entering as favourites, the Hornets had to watch their star player Ikki Tokei pick up an injury after scoring the team's sole goal. While it did ensure a win at home, they were clearly not ready to face Choji Matsumono-Gide and the Rockets.

Ume-Aburana University 3-3 Imperial Forces Academy (3-3 agg)
Imperial Forces Academy 2-0 Ume-Aburana University (5-3 agg)
The All Blacks came to the playoffs as a rather surprising entry, showing an effective play style without many prospects. Still, they were able to battle the Imperial Forces side at home, holding a three-three tie. Alas, Myozan Namezono's star ended up shining in a match under heavy rain.

Rakun Biological Academy 0-2 Tsutsuji University (0-2 agg)
Tsutsuji University 3-1 Rakun Biological Academy (5-1 agg)
While certainly an odd pick during the season, Rakun's luck ended as they had to face off the powerful Tsutsuji side. Hisako Hanai picked them apart, scoring four of those five goals, impressively enough.

Zora Institute 1-2 University of the Pacific (1-2 agg)
University of the Pacific 0-0 Zora Institute (2-1 agg)
A duel that should've ended with Zora dominance saw the Pacific squeeze out a goal at Zora's Kingdom when Vibol Keo managed to score one the key goal that would run out the Zoras. At last, the Zoras were able to hold their opponents to a draw, keeping the Tide alive for another round.

SEMI-FINALS
Somei-Yoshino University 0-3 Imperial Forces Academy (0-3 agg)
Imperial Forces Academy 4-1 Somei-Yoshino University (7-1 agg)
While the Rockets were favoured to go all the way, the Imperial Forces proved all wrong. Matsumono-Gide failed to score anything against Myozan Namezono and Kotaro Katsura lead them to two remarkable wins. The Samurai prepared themselves for a trip to Banija at the final.

Tsutsuji University 1-0 University of the Pacific (1-0 agg)
University of the Pacific 1-2 Tsutsuji University (1-3 agg)
The tale of Pacific Tide's surprise run ended as Tsutsuji dominated both matches. Once again, Hisako Hanai was the key name of this team, although it's rather surprising to see that the Pacific managed to bow out in a respectable manner, not being blown up by a massive goal slide. This meant the Foxes were now on the hunt for a repeat of their victory last time around in the final.

FINAL
Imperial Forces Academy 2-0 Tsutsuji University (2-0 agg)
A nearly full Eastern Stadium at Istria, Banija saw the Samurai from the Imperial Forces lift the Book of Athena after netting two goals with a goal by Kotaro Katsura and another by Gintoki Sakata. Another great performance by Namezono at the net ensured the result to keep as is, awarding the first ever trophy in football for the Imperial Forces.

ALL-HINODEJIN YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Once again, being consistent was key for any team interested in taking the title home. Zeppelin Foundation's respectable squad impressed at the field last time around and just built up for this season. Zora Youth once again sits politely at second but Kohei Cherry Villa is the interesting story. Seong Mi-Na's last season as a Youth League player was very hyped up... and then she proceeded to play her boots out, winning the Golden Boots award. The season also saw the surprising emergence of Toadstool Enterprises and their fantastic keeper Ytalo out of Dainer. Usual title candidates such as Kazama, Mashu Elite and Project Olimpo ended up in the middle of the table while Miishima Poly found themselves in the middle of the table thanks to a surprisingly tame Fair Play based style of play that cut the edge of their promising striker Kazuya Mishima. Arctic Dream Shopping Mall YFC, Royal Theater Preparatory, Southern Ironwork Girls and Royal Music Youth Academy ended up relegated.

ALL-HINODEJIN YOUTH FOOTBALL DIVISION 1
Two of last season's relegated sides Saria Greens and Aloha Heiwashima were quick enough to bounce back, the Greens scoring a trophy that served, at least, to serve as a gift for Cienne Wu who might be leaving the team after this season. Aloha Heiwashima's promotion came on top of losing two prospects, Kasumi Hitomi and Maryuu Nitta, while others like Jefferson Sanabria and Kyunji Maki briefly considered leaving the team as well to pursue other options. Bolt Travelling and founding All-Hinodejin Youth Football League members Luna Wanderers FC complete the top four. Mosudoro Little Flames, Hikata Media Group, Royal Dragontamer Academy and Kairi All-Schools FC were relegated to the third tier.

Kodoryo Underground Metroway, Berinii Steelworks and Mui Cosmetics, all teams with foreign talent on the brink of departure, managed to join the second tier with these results as well. Usagi Sailor Star HS managed to do something unthinkable and get two consecutive relegations...

Nothing too major happened at the last division, although Rikishii's misfortunes as they go on re-election is quite something.

Name Reason: The team was named after the Sacred fire of Vesta, an Eternal Flame.

Stadium: Kyuminashibahara Stadium (17,500)
Titles: 1x Trophy of Eden (2035), 12x KiHi-League (2040, 2042, 2044, 2046, 2048, 2049, 2058, 2060, 2064, 2070, 2092, 2134), 1x KiHi-League 2 (2112), 2x The Jewel of the Déesses (2054, 2096)
Name Reason: Herate is, in fact, a mix of the words Heritage and Art. An "e" in the end was added to remind people of Kyuminato's Western Sunrisian roots.
Club Info: One of KiHi-League's original teams, the former Kyuminato Navy left a crowded Somei-Yoshino State League to become one of the early powerhouses of Hinodejin football, although briefly playing at the second tier for a season, the team in orange and black has never really been taken out of the scenery by their neighbors to the south.

HINODE SHIRANUI
Hinode, Somei-Yoshino
Stadium: Hinode City People's Stadium (23,500)
Titles: 3x KiHi-League (2050, 2068, 2073), 2x KiHi-League 2 (2049, 2097), 1x KiHi-League 3 (2048), 1x Jewel of the Déesses (2049)
Name Reason: "Shiranui Rina" was Raideniwa Manga Works' first big hit. The eponimous Rina's greatest technique, the Sakura Killer Toss would also make it in the club's crest.
Club Info: While not as inclined to join the professional ranks, Raideniwa Manga Works was thrust into the nation's third division by ambitious businessmen that wanted a rival to face off the Supernova, the city's older team. The team did fare decently, nabbing a couple of silverware out of some fly-by talent that chose the club. They're more famous for being shoehorned at manga of all sorts.
Kits: Home, Away, Alt
Notable Transfers In: Mattuc (free, Conga/DAI), Oishi (free, Sun Coast/DAI)

HINODE SUPERNOVA
Hinode, Somei-Yoshino
Stadium: Hinode National Stadium (40,000)
Titles: 1x The Trophy of Eden (2045), 2x KiHi-League (2053, 2136), 3x KiHi-League 2 (2091, 2125, 2135), 2x KiHi-League 3 (2046, 2124), 2x Jewel of the Déesses (2048, 2131)
Name Reason: Hinode's first slogan was "A flaming supernova, waiting to blow up". The slogan would be dropped, but the team decided to stick with it.
Club Info: Trophy of Eden winners at a time the tournament forced entry at the professional ranks, the nurses of Naitogaru Nursery did perform respectably against the opposition, becoming a professional team of their own right. Alas, the team never really amounted to many titles, often remaining as a competitor but nothing else.
Kits: Home, Away, Alt
Notable Transfers In: Naturezza (5M, Zill/DAI)
Notable Transfers Out: NONE
Starter XI: Sonma [c]; Shimikage, Hurumi, Hatori; Saotome, Nitta, Souji, Akabashi, Mishiba, Kagae; Slayback (NPH)

HOKUTO RANGERS
Hokuto, Somei-Yoshino
Stadium: Hokuto Tower Park (20,000)
Titles: 1x KiHi-League (2103), 1x KiHi-League 2 (2092), 1x KiHi-League 4 (2088), 1x KiHi-League 5 (2087)
Name Reason: The name is an allusion to the notable Northern Sunrisian club Matthew City Rangers. It also constitutes as a dig at the Thorben family's Hokuto Senateurs.
Club Info: One of the teams to be formed from the ashes of the city's former main team, Constelado Hokuto, and spearheaded by magnate Tsukage Mikoto, the Rangers saw a meteoric rise that would help to pull the city out of its' near poisonous aura after the city lost the role of capital to Kanshiro. They do not like the Senateurs in the slightest and many of their derbies have proven to be hot-blooded.
Kits: Home, Away, Alt

HOKUTO SENATEURS
Hokuto, Somei-Yoshino
Stadium: Hokuto National Stadium (25,000)
Titles: 1x The Trophy of Eden (2086), 1x KiHi-League 3 (2094), 1x KiHi-League 4 (2060 inherited), 1x KiHi-League 5 (2089), 2x Jewel of the Déesses (2125, 2136)
Name Reason: The name was adopted in order to honour the memory of the father of the club's first president, the late Nikolai Thorben who played for the Matthew City Senators. The French flair was attributed to a mistake at the office.
Club Info: After the crisis that followed the city's loss of the title of capital to Kanshiro managed to at last claim the city's sole pro football team, descendants of Nikolai Thorben that happened to be members of the previous club chose to form a phoenix club that would focus on helping out the impoverished masses that lived at Hokuto. This would launch a wave of teams named after former Sunrisian teams via relatives and people that kept the rights to the names after the transition. While lacking in silverware, many young players would come out of the Senateurs, fleeing from their poor backgrounds to decent lives.
Kits: Home, Away, Alt

HONEYAME ANITAS
Honeyame, Mido-Hinode
Stadium: Mizumaru Peak View Field (15,000)
Titles: 1x Trophy of Eden (2105), 1x Hinodejin Challenge League (2105), 1x Golden Road Football League (2104)
Name Reason: The Anita Brigade was the equivalent of the Girl Scouts in some countries. They acted as young helpers that would visit devastated villages at Mido-Hinode and adjacent provinces. Although the Brigade has long since been abolished, several groups still carry the Anita name.
Club Info: A merger of three weak clubs from Mido-Hinode, the Anitas saw success after the more prominent sides of the province got promoted to higher divisions and the Anitas filled the void. At last, the team fed on their incompetence and found itself at the top of the tower. Although never really reaching for any major title along the way, the team's weird nature has risen many an eyebrow. They also have never been relegated from the top tier since arriving there.
Kits: Home, Away, Alt

HSIEN-KO YIANTSAME
Yiantsame, Minamirin
Stadium: Yiantsame City Stadium (17,000)
Titles: 1x Trophy of Eden (2087), 2x KiHi-League (2094, 2112), 3x KiHi-League 2 (2093, 2123, 2136), 1x KiHi-League 4 (2091), 1x KiHi-League 5 (2090), 1x Jewel of the Déesses (2101)
Name Reason: Hsien-Ko was the name of a creature of myth, a jiangshi that would punish evil-doers at the Minamirin region during nights of a clear moon.
Club Info: A team formed not too long after the province was annexed into the Hinodejin Empire, Hsien-Ko Yiantsame was formed as a quick way to help the widows of former warriors that fell victim to the ever-so-powerful Hinodejin armies, something usual at this part of the country at the time. For a team with such a background, they were very successful, although it might have to do with them turning into a proper club afterwards.
Kits: Home, Away, Alt

Notable Transfers Out: Shu Jiang (10k, Tentai Astros)

Name Reason: There's no true explanation to the team's name, although some believe it was the name of a wandering warrior that the Uchina province was fond of.
Club Info: One of Uchina's oldest teams, Hwoarang Seidoshi has been often noted to have been a second tier team, with stints on the top tier every once in a while. Once again, they play the top tier.

Titles: 2x KiHi-League (2084, 2101), 1x KiHi-League 2 (2128), 2x KiHi-League 3 (2117, 2127), 2x KiHi-League 4 (2055, 2074), 3x Jewel of the Déesses (2083, 2092, 2108)
Name Reason: Hylian is one of the non-human species with rights to Hinodejin citizenship that were accepted into the Empire.
Club Info: Joining during the earlier expansions of the Hinodejin football pyramid, the former Erushi Zaibatsu side adopted the name Hylian Ninfu after turning professional, being the first Hylian-backed team to do so. The team remained fairly traditional in its' status, most of their roster (if not all of it) being Hylian by birth. That hasn't translated with success always, but they remain as the finest Hylian club of the league.

Name Reason: When football came to the former Kingdom of Great Joseon, local teams chose to name themselves after the fauna. In a diplomatic move, the team playing at the Empire's new capital, Kanshiro, was awarded the star of UICA Sunrisian Club of the Century and the rights to the former Mardi Lopunnies.
Club Info: Formed after the start of contacts between Joseon and the Hinodejin Empire, the Kanshiro Lopunnies took to the tournament like a Lopunny to a forest. One of the strongest teams of the nation, although the silverware they currently have doesn't make that any justice.

Name Reason: The team was named after Mashu Telephonics' mascot Mr. Helloween, a jolly little iceman with a blue cap who often started commercials with the words "Hee Ho".
Club Info: One of the KiHi-League's original teams, Mashu Hellowenia was a middling team with brief success until the city of Mashu adopted the aim of becoming the "Healthiest City of the Empire" by promoting sports of all sorts, including the now defunct Mashu High School League that would reveal many a young star to the Hellowenia and their hometown rivals, whom they have a good relationship with.

Name Reason: The nickname came from the Miare Commerce Union's mascot CosmoStar the Needlemouse.
Club Info: Formed out of the Union of several businesses from the blooming financial and shopping center of the province of Tsutsuji, the CosmoStars saw ups and downs throughout its' history, only bouncing back to become a regular at the top tier recently thanks to efforts from major sponsor Lili, popular for their clothing. The club has since been sort of a guinea pig for Lili's expansion at kitmaking.

Club Info: Memorable for their notorious and yet shortlived meteoric rise to the top, culminating in the KiHi-League title in 2076, the team from Kuremura has been struggling to maintain itself as a regular in the top tier.

Name Reason: A nod to their rivals, the team was named after the Portuguese word for Easter, Páscoa.
Club Info: Formed out of a casualty deal where Iehasu Zaibatsu's squad found itself on the Trophy of Eden, being invited to participate at the second tier. The rivalry in the making ended up much civilized and both teams have long since been reaping the benefits of Mashu's incredibly perfect aura for a sports city. Name Reason: The city was named after the legend of a City of Gold, led by a young princess named Tikal.
Club Info: No team has a twistier story than Princesiña Tikaru in the history of Hinodejin football. The team has been at the top, playing with the biggest teams of the Empire at the KiHi-League, but also found itself in the bottom of the pyramid, butting heads with some of the weakest pro teams in the country. This was all thanks to a near-bankrupcy that almost killed off the team, making them the second team to ever end, following Constelado Hokuto. They, however, found themselves reviving after Tikal College took them in and made them part of their organization. The team has since been on the up, managing to snag the record of most Trophy of Eden titles.

Titles: 2x Trophy of Eden (2117, 2118), 1x KiHi-League 3 (2121), 1x KiHi-League 4 (2120), 1x KiHi-League 5 (2119), 1x Hinodejin Challenge League (2118), 1x Hinodejin Advance League (2119), 1x Central Hinode League (2116)
Name Reason: The club is maintained by several Shaolin temples, the name felt logic.
Club Info: Formed by monks looking for an activity to enhance their training, Shaolin Saitama remains as the league's sole "amateur" team. Most, if not all, of the club's activities, are done by monks and the team itself has always fielded a massive number of monks. This unwritten rule has always made them come off as odd, although they have performed admirably at the field nonetheless.
Kits: Home, Away, Alt
Notable Transfers In: The Impressive Six (integrated)
Notable Transfers Out: Lesser known brothers (retired back to regular monk duties)
Starter XI: Brother Tsung [c]; Brother Thaye, Brother Namgyal, Brother Yang, Brother Kang; Brother Shin, Brother Matsui, Brother Wei, Brother Jin; Brother Feng, Brother Jules (DUN)
Other Notable Players: Sister Mui (GK, HIN), Brother Kwan (GK, HIN), Brother Wong (CB, HIN), Brother Lam (CM, HIN), Brother Tin (CM, HIN), Brother Sing (ST, HIN)

TAUSHIGA TAUROS
Taushiga, Shiga
Stadium: The Tauros' Ring (22,000)
Titles: 1x KiHi-League 4 (2130), 1x Northern Hinode League (2123)
Name Reason: Tauros are a common species at the Shigan plains.
Club Info: Another team from the plains, Taushiga Tauros has a unique interaction with their fans, what with their venue being made out of repurposed wood and the club itself has often chosen one of their kits to feature a nod to wood. They like to be called "The most eco-friendly team of the KiHi-League"... granted they are at the KiHi-League this season.
Kits: Home, Away, Alt
Notable Transfers In: Claire Holden (free, Scaffield/BRE), Dale Eardend (free, Calix City/RZN)
Notable Transfers Out: NONE
Starter XI: Shimano; Saito, Azai, Nanto, Suzuki; Katsumi, Raito, Nitta, Uranimawa; Tsushikaze, Holden (BRE/EEC) [c]
Other Notable Players: Eardend (GK, RZN), Portsgate (ST, NPH)

WOLVENA HIYENA
Hiyena City, Hiyena
Stadium: Schönbrunn Stadium (13,400)
Titles: 1x Trophy of Eden (2122), 1x KiHi-League 5 (2123), 1x Hinodejin Challenge League (2122), 1x Golden Road Football League (2119)
Name Reason: One of Hiyena's greatest tourist products is a plushy called Wolfy. Wolvena derives from that product's name.
Club Info: Hailing from the former lands of Austria, Wolvena Hiyena was established by former nobles that were also involved in the transformation of the former Schönbrunn Palace into the current stadium the team plays at. Success did come, at last, and the team is now in the top tier.
Kits: Home, Away, Alt
Notable Transfers In: NONE
Notable Transfers Out: NONE
Starter XI: Melsbach [c]; Takenaka, Ri'ver (FAF), Miyamoto, Salone (NPH); Nakajima, Hayashi, Jo Ji-Min, Wolter; Frazier, Espinosa (YTT)
