"Other villagers reported strange things coming from the mountain ranges in the east. Adventurers and explorers were said to have ventured into a mysterious cave, only to never be seen again. Days later, they would return in the form of these shambling madmen. Men and women, armed and unarmed, howling with rage and gnashing their teeth until they frothed at the mouth. Their eyes would glow a bright red, and they would attack anything they could get their hands on, with no regard for their own safety. Surely dark forces were behind it. Despite the protests of my comrades Rahim and Jahal, we ventured eastward. When the magus returned to the Exarch with the staff and his written report, he and the surviving soldier reportedly vanished without a trace. After reading the report, Hakan promptly had it burned, and took the staff into his own hands.
We explored the caves in the east for what felt like hours. I was only thankful that there were no forks or splits in the pathways, so we could easily find our way out. Nearly one hour into the walk, we found peculiar carvings etched into the cave walls. Based on my knowledge, these carvings were in an ancient Kehzani language group that pre-dates even the legendary Atrenian Empire. By our second hour into the cave, the writing was no longer made in carvings, but in blood. They covered both the ceilings and the ground, and each spelled the same word in the ancient language: Jinun. Madness.
After a third hour, we happened upon an enormous chamber - ominously empty save for a small pedestal in the very center. A staff was firmly planted within the stone altar, giving off a dim red hue. Dotting the floor were other unidentifiable runes, carved in a circle around the altar. I immediately assumed it was the work of a dark sorcerer seeking to terrorize the populace with some foul curse. I motioned to Rahim and Jahal, telling them to retrieve the staff while I attempted to stamp out the mysterious runic circle. But when I saw Jahal reach for the staff, he stopped, and lowered his hand back down without another word. He drew his axe. When Rahim questioned what was wrong, I saw Jahal swing his axe around, burying it into his comrade's chest. By the time I realized what had happened, Jahal had torn his blade from Rahim's flesh, and cut him down another swift blow. How he screamed...
In that same instant, his malice turned to shock, and he collapsed to the ground, the reddish glint fading from his eyes as Rahim's blood soaked his fingertips. My attempts to calm him down were for naught, and though I spent hours trying to magically destroy this staff, I only succeeded in pulling it from the pedestal without falling victim to the curse myself. I may not be able to destroy this gods-forsaken relic, but I know who can..."

No, that's perfectly fine. Though, I'm fairly certain the small area south of Kezhan is taken already. The map will be updated later today, so that should help you.
The Roster has been updated with both accepted characters and Holy Weapons. Miek, it seemed you were still working, so I left your characters off for the time being. The map and key will be updated soon with the new nations. IC is also likely sloted for a Monday-Tuesday release

Cool. I have a post already ready that will just more or less introduce my character. Still deciding on what I'm going to do with him though. The current goal I have for him is to retrieve the holy relic but I'm not sure yet if that will be done solo or if it can be intertwined with the overall plot at some point

Well there's a few issues I can see with the app. Firstly, the parts of Stroji that were annexed from them in the Second Oswya-Sofrea war were annexed by Sofrea, not by Oswya, though reading the history back, I can understand why you might have thought that. The two nations have also been on decent terms for a few generations, espically the royal families. Secondly, Dark Mages cannot wield swords, so he would be unable to use a Rapier. Fix that and it should be fineFinsternia wrote:Weapon Name: Book of Apophis, Teachings of the Serpent of Malice
Hmm...The Tome is very similar to the other Dark Tome we have [though there is only so much you can do with a dark Tome]. So I'm going leave it as pending while I think on it, as it is quite different as well, but some of the abilities I need time to mull over

Thanks! I can change those things. Do you have any suggestions on how to make the Tome more unique?

Okay, I have a few. First of all, perhaps remove the life steal. The other dark tome has that too. Perhaps add the ability that those who take damage from the dark tome are also temporarily afflicted with a weak poison type debuff that drains their health slowly, and what damage they take from the venom is added to the users.

So I see some major issues with this app. First up, while I understand where you were going with this weapon [as a counter and obstical for your MC], it seems like it was thrown together really quickly and intended to be used as throw-away weapons of sorts. The abilities are really basic and not developed that much, and setup just to make a character OP as a boss to fight at some point down the road. Which kind of rubs me the wrong way.
Secondly the bio is quite short and there's some problems with it. I intend the world to play out a bit differently from typical FE, and move more towards Sacred Stones, where Dragons had less previalence plot wise [or even in existance aside from Necro-Dragons], and Holy Weapons weren't tied to some great event involing Dragon's like Archeana's Falchions or Elibe's weapons. So, while I was fine with allowing Dragon's to exist in some form for you're character and nation, I don't want to make it seem like they were just running around everywhere. Thus, there would be no need to make a weapon specifically for the slaying of Dragons [which also seems shoe-horned in, in accourdence with my points above]
It needs serious work before I can consider it accepted, though I'm sure you can come up with something

- Book of Apophis
- Ruin
Gaius was raised in a small town by the frontiers of Stroji by both of his parents. He grew up admiring his father and mother's work as apothecaries and watched them many times prepare the medicinal herbs and turn them into poultices and potions that the villagers relied on for their sicknesses. Everyday, the couple would take upon themselves the responsibility of teaching Gaius about what type of planta grow when and where, how can they be used and if they are safe for human consumption. They also took upon themselves the rsponsibility of teaching Gaius the texts of the Book of Apophis and as to why they are guarding it and keeping it a secret from other people.
Then came the invasion of the Kingdom of Sophrea. They were simply unlucky that their village was one of the territories that the kingdom took over. The men of the village fought back, and so did his father, while Gaius and his mother hid within the apothecary shop with the Holy Relic. One of the soldiers found their way inside the shop and his mother had no other choice but to use the Tome to protect themselves. Gaius' mother was sadly not the one who inherited Phelga's bloodline, it was her husband, and thus her life was slowly claimed by the Dark Tome in the next years. His father was among the dead after the village surrendered. Gaius and his mother were then forced to adapt to this new life until ten years later, in the present, his mother finally succumbed to the Book's curse. He could have kept the apothecary to himself and continued the family business but the weight of seeing his childhood home empty of the laughter they once had years before, Gaius sold the property and packed his things, including the Holy Relic by his side. Months later, he found himself getting conscripted into Oswya's troops for the sake of food, shelter and training.

Type of Weapon: Dark Tome
Description of Weapon:
(Image)
Current Wielder|Location: Gaius Leika
Special Properties:Weapon Art:
- Bane of Magic: Grants additional bonus damage to Anima and Dark Magic and nullifies the weapon triangle advantage and disadvantage between Light and Dark. Also grants additional magic resistance at the cost of having weaker physical defense.
- Vile Venom: Enemies attacked with the Book of Apophis' spells will be inflicted with the ancient fell serpent's venom, slowly taking their life and strength in the process. The poison grows stronger as it is left untreated and the life lost is then gained by the caster.
- Serpent's Cursed Dominion: The caster can turn others into snakes and themselves into a serpent like Manakete for awhile. Grants control over serpentine creatures, depending on the caster's strength of will.
- Life Taker: Any person who does not have the Holy Blood of Phelga within their veins will have their life consumed by the tome if they try to wield it.
History of Weapon: The Book of Apophis' creation is actually known, unlike most other Holy Relics that dotted the land. It was created when a powerful sorceress, known as the Witch Phelga, fought for the liberation of the kingdom now known as Oswya. The Witch spent months in a guerilla war in the northwestern part of the country wherein her army liberated a village in which is tormented by what seems to be a malicious dragon living deep within the mountains' forests. Phelga routed her forces to ease the citizens' hearts and challenged the dragon in its lair. The dragon was, in fact, a serpentine fell dragon that goes by the name of Apophis and has long since been worshipped by the mountain tribes as a death god that presided over their lives. The serpent has been ruling these mountain ranges for centuries and the Empire only let its rule continue by the virtue of the dragon remaining in the mountains in exchange for tributes. Seeing that the serpent cannot be left alone and live any longer, the Witch raised her banners and led her men to war against the dragon and emerged victorious after three days of nonstop fighting. She lost more than half of her men but the fell serpent lay dead beneath her feet. She took all of the serpent's blood and bottled it away for future use and had the serpent's lair looted.
- Fell Serpent's Bite: The caster calls upon a curse on the victim, bringing them to near death (like Hel's effect of bringing down a unit's HP to 1) and absorbing the lost life force. It is said that the Witch Phelga crippled an entire battalion of soldiers with the spell and slaughtered them with a follow up attack.
Months later, Phelga would find a use for the bottled blood of Apophis. She took half of the bottle and created a concoction that would allow her to gain the knowledge of the dark dragon for her own. Indeed, she gained the dragon's forbidden knowledge and the dragon's blood took over her body. With a quill in one hand, the sorceress scribbled away mindlessly with the remaining bottle of blood. Within the sheets of paper was a horrible breed of dark magic inscribed and imbued, granting the Witch's bloodline power over life and death if used well. Although Apophis was thoroughly destroyed and its soul with its body, perhaps it was its last act of leaving a footprint upon the world and thus left dark words within the Witch's hands. Phelga refused to touch the tome when she snapped out of her trance. However, the temptation of its power won when Phelga's forces were surrounded and her soldiers were dying like flies. She opened the book and recited its incantations. It's as if she has been casting its spells for all her life as her enemies fell one by one and she felt her wounds close and heal and her strength returning. The Tome would soon become infamous with its heinous magic and the Witch continued to use it until her retirement as one of Oswya's court counsellors. Before her death, the Witch sent her son and his family away from the capital with the Book of Apophis, which they kept hidden and secret, to settle down with the populace. The Book was passed from generation to generation until it found its way in the hands of Gaius.
