All sign-ups have been ACCEPTED and added to the OP, welcome aboard!

I'd like to welcome Llalta to the World Hit Festival. As Tod said, you are more than free to use your WorldVision entry here :)

Additionally, welcome back to Saintrabina, founder and first overseer of the World Hit Festival! I'm really glad to see you back for WHF's 40th anniversary, I do know your previous participation was in the 20th festival. Regardless, I am very glad to see you that you're here.

as host and overseer all at once this is more than daunting haha

and yes kal pls have euski join so we can have all overseers participate all at once

Britonisea wrote:I just would like to say that I am more than interested in becoming the next overseer for the World Hit Festival; I think that I have a now enriched understanding of what it means to be a part of the World Hit Festival - and I'm very happy with how far the Festival has come - especially up against the rival WorldVision Song Contest.

But :?:

I'm glad to see you that you have an interest in being the next overseer! More details are going to come up real soon, as the projected date for both details and the election is before July. Ideally, we will have the new overseer elected right within the space of the IC thread.

I'll give out more details once I have them. As a start, the process will be very similar/almost identical to the previous WHF overseer elections.

As the three Folkandish nations return to the World Hit Festival, the FBU (Folkandish Broadcasting Union) that contains all the regional radios and televisions decided to let the three non-Polish-speaking broadcasters participate in the contest since the 40th edition as the official broadcasters of Saintrabina, Christarnea and Rusmailica. The German-speaking community in Saintrabina is represented by DRFZ. The internal selection revealed that the country will be represented by 32-year-old Zenobjan Grümech called Zenobye, one of the best-selling artists in Saintrabina. The song is the title single from his new album "Schere, Stein, Papier" and probably will be sung bi- or trilingual.

Following the previous article, the numerous French-speaking community in Christarnea is represented by RTFC. The internal selection revealed that the country will be represented by 24-year-old Lem Olaph, the winner of La Voix de Christarnée. The song is his debut brand new single called "Folie à Deux" and probably will be sung bi- or trilingual as well.

As well the significant Russian-speaking people of Rusmailica are allowed to be represented by PPTP. The internal selection revealed that the country will be represented by the male-female quatro that consists of 29-year-old Nidija Janka, a former member of the famous Folkandish gospel group Likaon, and three members of The Cinnamon Stores - brothers Ante, Reszko and Gosza Niczyporuk. The song is their one-shot experiment created especially for the WHF and is called "Дождливый Cезон".

Divina Angeli to represent Togonistan in WHF40

Image

Togonistani WHF broadcaster Lucky 7 revealed the nation's representative for 40th World Hit Festival. Going to Mousiki will be Divina Angeli, a four-woman symphonic vocal group that is currently a rising star in the local music scene. The young band, founded in the beginning of the year, has already gained a lot of fans worldwide as well as been on concert tours. Lucky 7 believes that Divina Angeli is going to be a worthy representative for Togonistan, a nation which, despite having bagged multiple victories in rival WVSC, has generally not done very well in World Hit Festivals.

All of the applications above have been ACCEPTED and added to the OP! Welcome aboard! :)

I'd like to welcome Kowani, Vietnan, and South Batoko to the WHF. To my knowledge, all of you are debutantes, so it's good to see some fresh new faces to the contest. Can't wait to see what you all bring to the stage!

Additonally, I'd like to welcome back Polkopia! Glad to see you here again.

Alright, so update on the overseership situation. As promised, I said the overseer elections are due to happen and here they are! Link here

If any of you have participated in at least one WHF, have hosting experience in either WV or WHF, past candidates, or even people that have no experience but are curious, please please please do apply. I am open to any and all questions about this position. I hoped I explained it well enough in the post a la a job application but if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.

Hosting details to follow up. Just needed to square off this part of WHF first.

Hosting for a record sixth time, the World Hit Festival returns to Izmedu just in time for not only its 40th anniversary, but also in the edition that Izmedu will begin the process of formally relinquishing the overseership. Izmedu is a small country of south slavic origin with strong romantic influences, sporting a population of 2,138,000 people. Nestled within the region of the New Western Atlantic, Izmedu is a nation that is constantly ever-growing, increasing in international prominence through regular participation in both the WorldVision and World Hit Festival contests.

While Izmedu has seen its ups and downs both historically and economically, its history in the World Hit Festival is one of Izmedu's most prominent success stories. The first few Izmeduan entries in the World Hit Festival proved to be a rocky start, with the nation not really finding its footing until the 19th edition. However, it was at the 26th edition where Izmedu really hit its stride. Not only has it accumulated a collection of top 3 finishes, Izmedu (specifically, RTI, the representing channel) was elected as the overseer in the 30th edition, a position which the nation will formally retain until the 41st edition. The country's success even continues onto the present day, with a 4th win in Darkmania.

Mousiki at night

Alternate views
A Street at night - A reservoir at night

Mousiki (population: ~143,000) is Izmedu's fourth largest city and rests on Izmedu's most southern tip as the district seat for the District of Ivica. Existing as Izmedu's most 'exposed' city as the city closest to both Izmedu's political, land, and maritime borders, this led to Mousiki developing a strong regional identity that is still Izmeduan and yet distinct from its parent country. Most recently, Mousiki has gained greater international prominence by playing host to the World Hit Festival 31. Additionally, a city associated with Izmedu and Todlichebujoku (Dreiichibu-u-Mousiki, officially also connected to the city of Mousiki) played host to the 55th WorldVision under a joint TOBUK, RTVK, and RTI production. All in all, Mousiki's name has been circulating around the hosting reaches. Despite economic difficulties after WHF31, the city has swung around and is now taking the responsibility of hosting WHF's ruby anniversary.

Mousiki in the 31st festival was largely defined by its contributions to culture and how it is almost similar to the Izmeduan capital, Vodiznad, in some respects. In the ensuing time since then, Mousiki has pivoted its identity to becoming Izmedu's prime source of music, both in the traditional and modern sense of the form. In trying to remain competitive with Gralicna's rise and Posony's monopolization of the culture game, Mousiki offers World Hit Festival goers an experience of music that does not stop in the moment they touch down to the city. As you step foot onto the streets, the amount of mandolins and klapa singers will overwhelm you as it is a common sight to often see public performers from block to block. On top of a multitude of street performers, another common sight in Mousiki (especially in its nighttime scene), is the prolific amount of bars, nightclubs, and live performances of orchestras and classic music. These kinds of occurrences do tend to be in season, but there will confluence around the World Hit Festival season; offering World Hit Festival visitors a chance to experience all spectrums of music in Mousiki.

Remaining from the World Hit Festival 31 are the vast amounts of hotels and lodging available to people visiting Izmedu in time for the 40th festival. While Mousiki was somewhat well-prepared for the 40th contest, the city's resources and lodgings were well overstrapped by the greater amount of resources anticipated. This time around, there are more accommodation options available in Mousiki more than ever, with the city council coordinating with local minor and major cities around to help make sure that visitors are well-rested and enjoying their Mousiki experience prior to the big show.

Additionally, there are a vast array of things for you to see, experience, and do in Mousiki. The music scene has already been described in the second paragraph, and visitors are absolutely free to peruse and experience them as they see fit. Performances will be held locally by the Mousiki Symphony Orchestra in various concert halls near the WHF40 venue. Additionally, there will be daily discounts to music bars and nightclubs up until the week of the contest itself, were entrance to the clubs will become free. However, if you want to save your music experience for the night itself? Mousiki has you covered. The city has various amounts of museums, eateries, and nature walks in the surrounding mountains if you're more of a person that wants to experience mid-city life.

All in all, if you want something to do, Mousiki is more better-equipped than ever to serve your needs as a city. Whether you are a young WHF fan that wants a taste of the nightclub life in a more traditional and smaller setting, or someone who simply wants a relaxing city setting to wander in before the show, Mousiki has precisely what you need.

Image
The previous Mousiki hosting marked the start of Izmedu's tenure as the overseer and thus, more attention was focused on staking the contest as 'a new beginning' to a new era of the WHF. However, top-level discussions between RTI and other broadcasters revealed the the city name 'Mousiki' had a possible pun that was not creatively explored by the channel at the time. When the opportunity for a Mousiki hosting came to pass, the creative team at RTI served to fully make explicit and link the music and 'Mousiki' pun. It was fitting, considering Mousiki's history as a city that has been influenced by music and also serves as the origin point for Izmeduan klapa. Thus, the new contest slogan was born.

“Let's make some music in Mousiki.”

This slogan is a call to action for all contestants that intend to participate in the 40th anniversary of the World Hit Fesitval. Born out of brevity but also as a way to celebrate the city, the slogan is a fun way to reflect and remark upon what makes the World Hit Festival such a long-lasting contest. Every World Hit Festival is a production and performance of music within its host city. The slogan calls for its contestants to do what the World Hit Fesitval is built for. Not only are they making memories, moments, and experiences in Mousiki, they are here to make music for the betterment of the contest and the world.

The Majcena Foruma (capacity: 11,000) is the official venue for the 40th World Hit Festival. After Mousiki's successful hosting of the 31st county, the Majcena Foruma has seen renewed and revived interest as a concert venue and has re-cemented itself as the premier venue in Izmedu's southern area. Due to this, the managers and stakeholders running the Majcena Foruma have decided that a renovation of the arena was wise, proving to be much more economically sound versus trying to construct a new arena. In the following years, the arena was renovated to match the technical specifications of its larger cousins in Vodiznad. While the externals are largely the same, the arena has seen a slight expansion in capacity but brings with that larger capacity a much more environmentally friendly interior and technological design.

Doing away with the outdated frameworks inside, the Majcena Foruma was completely re-thought from the inside. It boasts a much more efficient ventilation system, a re-thought seating arrangement to expand the capacity from 9,700 to 11,000, as well as a complete remaking of the lighting rigs and screens that the Majcena Foruma would normally rely on. This new Majcena Foruma emphasizes eco-friendliness from top to bottom. These improvements have made the Majcena Foruma the most popular concert venue for a time, at its peak surpassing La Cianta and the Dragulj for artists that were looking for a venue that is both big and intimate at the same time.

Rendering of the stage

Alternate view 1 - Alternate view 2

The stage of the 40th World Hit Festival was one of the most difficult aspects in determining the planning for the 40th festival. What kind of stage would be conducive to being able to express the theme of the 40th festival, celebrate the anniversary edition, and be able to also accommodate a possible orchestra? Teaming up with a former awards show designer, the focus on the new stage was being able to design something larger for the new stage in the Majcena Foruma while trying not to compromise the interior design. Additionally, RTI wanted a stage that would be absolutely customizable for every delegation, having many moving parts and aspects that can either be used or unused at will.

The stage you see rendered here is a rendered version based on the vision of Marko Radic. Similar to previous Izmeduan stages, every single possible staging effect is present and accounted for. There are options for dynamic lighting, water, fire for pyrotechnics, shower sparks, and many other effects. Additionally, advanced hologram technology can also be deployed at will, with RTI aiming to allow delegations to bring their own technology or to use what RTI has on offer. Additionally, extensive LEDs are also placed on the background and floor. The stage you see here is a version of the stage at its most 'open,' meaning the space be used to whatever ends you want. This also includes the possibility of a live orchestra returning (more on this will be explained in the bottom).

Main Stage
The main stage is one of the largest parts of the stage, being where all the main action happens. On the rendering, the stage is at its most 'open' form with any prop or material being allowed to be put on the stage. However, in configurations where there are no performances, the two sides that show the separate LED screens are closed up in shell-like appendices that can be opened up at will provided if the necessary amount of time has been given to do so. Inbetween these two screens are an entrance that can either be closed or open to a delegation's specifications. What is critical about those open spaces that can either be closed or open is that is where, if a delegation elects to do it, an orchestra can be placed. (for example: see this video)

These two parts can either be opened up or closed depending on the delegation's specific requirements. If they are to be closed, the 'shells' that cover those parts of the stage can also be used as additional screens. Additionally, a delegation can choose to either have the right or left shell be opened. They can also be moved during the performance, albeit the movement will be somewhat slow due to the moving parts so it's best to carefully coordinate when to move them.

Side Runways and Satellite Stage
Snaking the frontal most audience pit are the runways that are connected to the smaller satellite stage at the end. Functioning like any satellite stage, these parts were built to accommodate as much movement from your entrant as possible. The floors on these parts also have LED screens installed, so are you free to project any image or color onto them as your entry sees fit.

Image
The postcards are going to be in a style familiar to you to the past editions. Similar to the previous Izmeduan hosting, WHF36, your postcards will have a written and graphic component to them. In here, the postcards are going to take the theme of music being made in your city. The sign-up form has asked you to provide a picture of a musical activity in your city and the name of that city. These items are going to not only be your graphical postcard, they will also be the very basis of your written postcard as well.

There will be two graphic components. The first will be a generic title card of 'Let's make some music in... [Insert nation name here]' using an identical background and font of the main WHF40 logo. The second component will be the picture of your city and the slogan in text wrapped around the picture, but with your city name inserted in lieu of your nation name. (For example, Let's make some music in Posony or Let's make some music in Rouen). The latter graphic will have your entry info.

Acting as a bridge between the generic title card and the graphic postcard will be the written postcard. Inspired by the RL Eurovision as well as Euskirribakondara's written postcards from WHF32, these will involve your entrant participating, engaging, or discovering the musical activity in your nation. The host will use best judgment to determine what your entry would be doing. However, if you have something specific you would like your entrant to be doing, please let the host know as soon as possible.

Image
Recognizing that the past few World Hit Festivals have conducted a more back-to-basics approach to the voting reveal, Izmedu will retain the style used from the 37th to 39th festival. Thus, Izmedu will for the first time use the classic reveal system that's been utilized for the majority of the World Hit Festival's history. For the 40th edition, there will be no phases or fancy ways to reveal the votes. For those new to the World Hit Festival, your 1 to 5 votes will be revealed all at once, with only your spokesperson saying who the 5 points goes to. The running order of the votes shall be determined when the voting is complete.

That completes the details for the 40th World Hit Festival. Hosts, opening act, interval act, and etc, are to be revealed at the IC's thread opening.

Todaskakys' sign-up has been ACCEPTED

World, the next phase of the 40th World Hit Festival is about to begin. The draft thread is now OPEN! Which means...

As of writing, only 23 hours remain until the Open Application period for the overseership election closes. Again, if you have participated in at least one World Hit Festival and are interested in applying, please apply! Again, if you have questions, please TG or DM me via Izmedu#6997

It is looking likely that the invited application period will occur. If such a case occurs, I will be DMing people who I think will make competitive candidates and trust to run the World Hit Festival. I will try to cast as wide of a net as possible.

Additionally, I am also proud to announce that we have 29 sign-ups for this edition. This is awesome! We're seven days out of the sign-up deadline, so I encourage interested players to apply. The more sign-ups we have, the likelier it is we will have semi-finals (of course, pending 30 entries on the draft thread) for the first time in WHF since the 3rd World Hit Festival. We reached 24 complete entries last edition, let's go even higher :)

Hello all!

Alright, sorry for the double post but update on the WHF Overseer elections. The Open Application deadline has technically passed, but I really wanna see at least some open applicants before I start inviting. Plus, I realize that the timeframe was way too short and compressed for something like this, so I've decided.

I will extend the open application deadline by 72 hours. Which means, you now have 3 additional days to apply for the overseer elections. Again, the basic criteria is that you have interest and that you have successfully participated in one edition of the World Hit Festival in the past.

The new schedule is now thus:
Open Application Deadline: July 11
Invited Application Deadline: July 18
Voting Deadline: July 25

All other deadline dates have been pushed back three days. I also now have more details on the invited application deadline as I now have a shortlist of possible users to which to invite. Do not let this deter you from taking advantage of the extended open application period.

When the new open application deadline passes, the overseer will then send either DMs or TGs to those users. They then must either confirm or deny the offer. Should a user accept, they will then have until the July 18 deadline to post the application form.

Good luck to all of you :)

NOTE: This is meant as a joke, and should be treated as one. All of the statistics are correct, and not made up to make this look bad. Also, just for Overseer, Izi.

Nation name: The Indipendent Darkmanian State of Hiklarmangia

Debuting edition (as user): WHF25 (As Darkmania), WHF33 (as Hiklarmangia), JWHF3 (As Vartugia)

Total number of participations (as user): 4 times on this account. (33, 35, 37 and 39), plus 12 for Darkmania (WHF25 to WHF39, skipping WHF 29-31) and one JWHF entry as Vartugia.

Leadership/hosting experience: AsDarkmania, I hosted the WHF`39. And just got re-elected for a 2nd term in the WorldVision Committee (one as Vartugia and one for Darkmania). Outside of WV/WHF, Darkmania has a seat in the (chaos-filled) WPIC, who organizes the Water Polo International Championship, who Darky can say they won the 4th one.

Why I should be elected: HERRO UND VELCOME TO THE GRAETEST BED TO UNDERLLITNER. WE BELIVE IZI IS TIRED AND HE NEEDS TO BED NOW. I TAKE THE SHIP AND I WILL MAKE IT GREAT. I HAVE THE STREAGNT AND I WILL ADD SO MUCH ENEGERY, I END UP RUNNING OUT OF REDBULLS BY DAY 20. LETS JUST MAKE IT GREAT. I AM HYPED TO WUN THIS. WOOOOOOO!! ME OVERSER TO THIS IS LIKE THE GRÆTEST THANG TO EVER EKIST!

How I can make WHF better: I am in favour of...
  • Freeing Ivan Sandic from the basement.
  • Making Polish Jerry as the mascot of World Hit Festival.
  • Banning all tunes and words, so no one can get disqualified.
  • Ah yeah ah yeah ah yeah, yeah ah yeah ah yeah. FUEGO!!!11
  • Making sure that I do nothing.
  • Being the “Great Leader Of WorldHitFestival” until WHF 42,069.
  • Question on why I am here.
  • Making Izmedu Cry Again!
  • Adding fillers.
  • Putting “Love” on you, as one Melodifestivalen singer sings.

NOW GO AND WOTE FOR TITS. #VOTE4TITS

This is a puppet for Darkmania.

This is mostly only used for joke RP with"of the best English that is of perfect". If I accidentally use this instead of my main, then blame Canada.

In-Character, Forum-Only Name is TIDS Hiklarmangia. (The Indipendenent Darkmanian State)
