"Alright, team..."
Coach Souls paced back in front between the assembled and eager mass of Black Hawks.
"I have some good news for you. It may be a bit late, given that we need to catch a plane out to the event *today*, but the RaiderCon planning committee has finally chosen a host region. As you know, there were four finalists this year - all unsuspecting, of course. In RaiderCon, hosting chooses you. Anyways, the winner is named here in this envelope. Are you ready?"
General mumbles of agreement rose from the team.
"Good enough for me. Here goes. We're going to....CA? ALRIGHT! CAL-I-FORNIA!! Pack your swimsuits, folks! Plane leaves in 30, so make it fast! I've got to go give these flight instructions to our pilot, so I'll meet you there"
Souls rifled through the papers for the pilot as he walked towards the elevator up towards the surface level of the complex, including the runway. The coordinates looked a little weird, as did the flight time, but hey, he was no pilot. Not his job. A few minutes later, it was literally out of his hands, and a drink was in them. Every flight is first class, when your team owns the plane!
Soon, the team was in the air, and on their way towards RaiderCon. Looking forwards to a week of special teams games, fun, history, and socializing with other top teams from around the world, the mood was nearly as high as the plane. Not to mention, the beaches, the bodies, the stars... Whoo, California!
Eventually, the excitement wound down, as the day grew late and the flight dragged on. With dreams of the edge of the world in all of western civilization ripe in their heads, the team snoozed off deeply...
KERTHUMP
A rough touchdown jolts most of the team awake. Howling winds shake the plane as it taxis...to a stop. Rising to look out the window, Coach Souls sees not much more than a small hangar, a hut, a pair of uniformed men driving a staircase towards the plane, and...a whole lot of snow? He stumbles towards the intercom, and presses the button.
"The fuck? This isn't California. Pilot, where the hell are we?"
A somewhat muffled voice travels back from the cockpit and through the tinny speaker.
"California? Mate, think you hit the bar cart a little too hard. We've been flying to Communist Alliance. The *other* C.A."
As the team stumbled shivering down the staircase and out into the snow, they found themselves greeted by a surprisingly enthusiastic official.
"Greetings! Welcome, welcome, to Communist Alliance. I am the vice-delegate of the region, even after immigrating here only 13 days ago to assess this region's hosting bid! You can call me Rai! Let me tell you a bit about the region. C.A. is a fairly sizeable region, with over 100 nations. They have an active government, and they have no idea that they're about to welcome the world's largest Gameplay event! That's basically all you need to know. You're the first team here! Any questions?"
A few enterprising players raise their slightly blue hands, and Rai is quick to call on them.
"Ah this gentleman wants to know where the ladies are! Well, I'm glad to inform you: there is an absolute surplus of babushkas waiting in line for their weekly endo distribution, right in the middle of town! Many are single. Watch out for those cougars! No, really, the town also has a major cougar problem. Sometimes not all the babushkas make it home. It's a good idea to carry a firearm. Or two. Next? Ah, redwoods? Well, they're not redwoods, but there are some giant trees in the forest outside town. Just watch out for Baba Yaga. Firearms *do not* work against her. And also watch out for the cougars. The other kind this time, there's a commune of them living in the woods, we blame them for driving the cats into town. You all look freezing. We'll cover more questions once we've reached the event complex!"
Still somewhat confused, the team huddled into the relative warmth of several old army trucks, and made their way to the complex. There, they took advantage of being the first team in town to occupy half of the offices. Soon, other team arrived and claimed offices of their own. While on this winter's day, most of the teams were still California Dreamin', the ample supply of complementary vodka in each of the suites quelled any unrest at the locale. Mingling among each other, all the teams present expressed excitement for the event to come.
What exactly would come to happen here? How would the region react to it's sudden guests? How would the world's do-gooders, who always sought to end these parties due to silly things like "violations of regional sovereignty," try to crash this party? Only time will tell, but RaiderCon was sure to be fun, as always...
Military Forces of the World Invade Communist Alliance for Raidercon 2018
On the major update of July 1, 2018, the collective update forces of 8 regions endorsed the vice-delegate of Communist Alliance, a region over over 100 natives and 30 endorsements, who happened to be the leader of TBH's Talon Corps, our own Council member, Rai! This lucky region has been chosen to serve as hosting/party grounds for RaiderCon 2018! We encourage and expect other Gameplay regions the world 'round (on good standing) to join us in the pile and the party. RO suites are reserved for those who jumped with us, but there's plenty of room on the rmb for everyone to hang out.
