Where are our conflicts that herald such a civil war? They are there in any civil war. They don't just pounce, they creep up.

Honestly, any civil war would be started by the right, considering how many guns they have, how members of the American military are right wing and the geographic advantage they'd enjoy.

That said, predicting a civil war is one of those things that makes the event less likely. Because at least one Senator or Congressperson is reading these discussions and trying their damnedest to make sure that this hypothetical war never comes to pass.

If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.

My low population small desert state becoming a battle ground, mini Afghanistan it sounds like it'd probably be here, in other words hell. The sad thing is this state is like, nearly completely divided politically straight down the middle in equal amount. I can see a lot of blood being spilled. I'd probably stay though because I'd rather not leave my home state let alone country. But don't know if I'd be a loyalist fighting to keep the Union intact or be tossing commies out of helicopters. Let's hope it doesn't start soon, I mean owning a gun is useful but I'm working to join the guard soon and I think I'd be better off to be trained too lmao.

Fleeing to mexico? The situation in the US would have to be pretty bad. You usually don't see refugees unless the war has been dragging on and bad war crimes would be going down. But if it gets to that an American refugee crisis could be bad, there's a combined population of less than 70 million, the US has well over 300 million people. We could see anti American refugee politicians in other nations, and I wouldn't blame them. The costs of foreign aid and caring for even moderate amounts of refugees are not only massive monetarily but in the case of having refugees in your nation there's also the cost of stability, now just multiply the numbers by 4 times. Now when it comes to crime and terrorism, I'm not certain, the average refugee from current warzones isn't a horrbile person, but not all of them are great, same goes for Americans. Now I don't think Americans would be committing terror attacks on religious grounds but we do have a lot of crime, and that may come to your doorstep. Anyways, the Yugoslav wars and more particularly Bosnia weren't as bad as other modern wars. Though Bosnia was bad because it was torn apart by Ethnic tension something I have seen an absence of in the discussion here, the US is a pretty diverse place, and we don't all get along.

Anyways, I'd be fighting to keep my country together instead of fleeing.

https://youtu.be/U67MRAPKXzU and I'd happily be rocking out while shelling the enemy, those balkan wars may have been hell but they pumped out some good music.

No, Civil war will turn the US into IRL This War of Mine roleplaying, except with actual guns.

Aside from certain people who already stated that they want to see US soldiers die, most people who support Trump do not want the US to turn into Bosnia in the 90's.

And, as for the left, that I am a part of. The Canadian left who is getting attacked by Trump's tariffs yet still loves the US anyway beacuse you guys are still awesome to me. I can say that most of us in the left here in Canada would not want you turning into Bosnia in the 90's. The Left in America itself also doesn't want to be Bosnia in the 90's. Why do I bring up Bosnia in the 90's? Because that is what the US would become.

You guys in the US reading this would become refugees of a three or four party war in the US. The US loyalists (Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Corps), The Alt Left, The Alt Right and, possibly Radical Centrists who have had enough of the Alt Left and Rights shit. NATO would support the US loyalists. The UN and IRC would help those who stayed in the US. The World Economy would be destroyed as the US dollar falls. It would be like the Papiermark of 1923 Germany. The black market would be the only way to buy things.

Worst case, US loyalists despite the help loose ground, Trump authorizes to nuke his own people. Millions die in a nuclear holocaust. Best case, the war costs a few million lives and the US loyalists win.

However, no matter who wins, we all lose. The US is forever changed. The world is forever changed.

Cities become unmarked graves. Waterpark splash pads where children engaged in mock combat with water cannons will have seen real combat. The only liquids there are blood, tears and, gray matter.

The US loyalists would to have to kill there own. They would not be seen as heroes to most, but they will be seen as killers. Giving most of there forces PTSD. Weakening the US forces to an extreme degree.

The US and the world losses an unimaginable amount of life. No matter what your creed is, it isn't worth torching your own country to the ground to get there.

very bad idea don't do it

A new war, like the last one, would certainly have the benefit of solving many questions forever.

It would also have many detriments that absolutely overweigh any argument in favour.

However, the thought of Warren and Schumer being banned from political office is tempting.

Well given cities tend to be heavily supportive of the democratic party in the U.S, and also the first places to undergo this cool starvation fad during war...you don't need that many bullets to actually kill a lot of "libs". You just need to surround a few cities and watch them devolve to the point of eating the damn glue out of books just to survive the siege like people did in Leningrad.

If you survive intact, and actually go down a path of education that is useful to the interim government post-war then maybe.

I mean if a form of the U.S survives beyond being a rump state then the constitution will either most likely be scrapped or so heavily modified it will be unlikely recognizable.

How do you figure the right will start it? In case you missed the news, it is the leftist groups (antifa, blm etc) instigating violence. Any response from the right will likely be acts of self defense that are unlikely to escalate into full blown war.
