Currently, there is very little in the way of welfare for Aino, but she has Mikaeles, the minister of defense watching her constantly after the assassination of her cousin Taska.

As a rule, our leaders get no perks. Prime Minister Schuyler Marmish does pretty much everything for herself. But...

President Fish is fed by a 7-year-old girl named Choo-Choo Kamehameha.

General Marie-Louise Castro-Stalina'a Aide de Camp is Sergeant Lawrence "Elmo" Morrison, who arranges transport for her, makes sure she eats, etc. She won't let him carry her backpack.

Alphonse is also fed by Choo-Choo Kamehameha.

Cunliffe and Clitherow is about a team of lesbian detectives, Tracy Cunliffe and Tracy Clitherow.

Cox and Kuntz is about a co-ed team of detectives, Maxine Cox and Frank Kuntz ("Max" and "Francie").

Travers LaRue is about a private investigator who also, apparently, exists in real life.

Inspector Poisson is about an eccentric detective and his hapless assistant Piffle, who may or may not be associated with the police.

Flying Squad, about a major crimes unit, has been cancelled due to lack of available plot lines. All of the other police shows concern themselves mostly with tracking down tourists who have lost track of time and forgotten to go home.

is the Millitary as institution viewed positively or negatively by the public(and which groups view it positively/negatively): extremely positively(both soldiers and officers). A few neo-Nazis and insurgent groups dislike them.

All good leadership and intellectual qualities and the Azadistani millitary virtues of courage, justice, loyalty and spirituality.
Are soldiers viewed positively or negatively?

What qualities are soldiers viewed as having?
Courage justice loyalty and spirtualitg
How does the Milltary influence society?
In most ways. The Only way it doesn't is society is very sceptical of authority.
How does society influence the Military?
Makes it Humanitarian, defensive and emergency law enforcement only.

Are there any festivals linked to the Millitary: victory over Fenwick day(celebrated in this day every year by parades, speeches, gifts of Pakistani sweets, horse racing, falconry, religious services especially in mosques and school plays in both secondary and primary). Also Remberance Day and Ashura.

[quote="Azadistan-land of the free";p="34213341"]Are there any TV shows about the police?

Several. Police procedurals are very popular. Popular police-based TV shows include:

Marshes: Centered around an old-school detective and his brilliant-but-awkward forensic scientist son. Much of the conflict - and humor - comes from the clash between their worldviews, both of which are ultimately essential to catch the bad guys. A consistent ratings monster.

Redemption: A long-running series about Giuseppe Ventimiglia, a former convict who joins the Genoese police and uses his understanding of the criminal mind to catch criminals. Usually ends with Ventimiglia having an ernest conversation with the suspect where the suspect usually shows contrition. The show only really took off in Season Three after the addition of Emilio, Giuseppe's former cat burglar cellmate and general clown, who was the perfect foil.

Ex Infernis: A dark drama focusing on the modern Papal Inquisition (which is something akin to the FBI). Themes of deception and betrayal abound. A critical darling.

What kind of TV shows are they?

Most are dramas, emphasizing the procedural side of things, with the flawed-but-righteous detectives ultimately triumphing over crime and sin. A few are comedies, with an emphasis on slapstick and misunderstandings.

Are they politicised if so in what way

Current censorship regulations set limits on what can be shown, especially with regards to sex. That said, the censors have been loosening up in the last few decades, with censors being more willing to allow depictions of sin, as long as it is shown as sin.

Is their portrayal of the police force generally positive or negative

Positive.

Which is the most popular?
Marshes is the most-viewed police show, while Ex Infernis is the highest rated.

What kind of tv show is it?
Marshes is a fairly conventional procedural, with most episodes being self-contained. Ex Infernis is a serial, with each episode feeding into the next.

Is it,portrayal of the police positive or negative?
Marshes gives police a very positive portrayal, while Ex Infernis is more nuanced, showing most cops as honest, but some as corrupt, and a few as outright monsters.

Who is the main character?
The protagonists of Marshes are Detective Ezio Caparelli, a veteran, old-fashioned detective, and his son Nicolas, a brilliant forensic scientist. Ex Infernis is centered around Inquisitor Michael O'Neill, an Irish-born inquisitor whose faith is challenged by the corruption he encounters within the Papacy itself.

Who is the main villain?
Neither show has a villain who lasts more than a season, unless you count Satan.

Is it politicised if so in what way?
Beyond the usual censorship and moral messages, no.

Racist gangs in Sarcana

Postby Sarcana » Wed Jun 20, 2018 12:53 pm

Name of gang

“The Swords of el-Shad”.

Type of gang

Islamist terrorist group.

Size

Less than 200. At its height numbers ranged up to 1,000.

Leader

Naaji el-Shad, deceased. Naaji was a Sunni fundamentalist from Arabia. He came to Sarcana to launch a jihadist campaign to destroy the Sarcanan willingness to intervene in Arabia and “seeking to destroy Islam at its heart.”
Naaji was killed in a raid in 2012, and the group is currently fractured and disorganised. There is no known, single leader.

Illegal Activities

Racially and religiously-motivated murder, terrorism, kidnapping, assault, arson, theft, smuggling, creation of explosives, etc.

Influence

Null. The group has been left a shadow of its former self. Remaining members are rounded up and dealt with daily, with rates having temporarily halted because there’s so few of them left.
It has no actual influence or sway over the Sarcanan Islamic community.

Threat level

Null; see “influence”

Ideology

Sunni Islamism, political Islam, salafism.

Are the judiciary appointed or elected? All judges are appointed by Parliament, and are nominated by the Prime Minister and Minister of the Judiciary

What determines appointment of the the judiciary?
Judges are required to have law degrees, at least 5 years of experience as lawyers, and clean criminal records.

Parliament chooses judges with strong human rights records who are members of the majority party.

What powers do the judiciary have?
The judiciary administers laws passed by Parliament, and may exert lawful control over liberty and property in the pursuit of justice.

These is no power of judicial review. No court can overturn any law enacted by Parliament or any action of the People's Government. Parliament and its members are not subject to the jurisdiction of the courts, and only Parliament itself may try MPs accused of crimes.

Is their religious influence on the judicial system?
Absolutely none. Religious organisations are prohibited from any involvement in government, and judges are banned from belonging to any religion to ensure that they remain unbiased and committed to the public good and human rights.

Although Roman Catholicism and Sunni Islam are legal, religious courts and the use of religious law for any purpose are banned. Muslim Brystolians may not use Shari'a courts or consult Shari'a law in matters of divorce/family, money, or property. The Catholic Church in Brystolville may not use canon law in its internal administration, and is governed by the Regulation of Christian Churches Act of 1988 instead. Anglican church tribunals are also banned, and all Church ordinances passed by the UK and Brystolville Parliaments while Brystolville was still a British colony have been repealed and replaced with secular legislation.

What legal system do you have?
A mixed civil law/common law system. As a former British colony, Brystolville inherited the British common law system. However, since the 1960s, Parliament has undertaken major reforms of the legal system to increase the importance of statute law over case law and place stronger legislative constraints on judges. All common-law crimes have been abolished and replaced with statutory crimes, and many unwritten common-law conventions, principles, and traditions have either been abolished or codified by Acts of Parliament.

How are judges viewed?
Positively

We do have our own version of the American show COPS and we have our own comedy-drama cop show "Shell Shock" It is a show about a detective named Cole Ripley who is a down to earth serious and is moved from the providence of New Princeton to the backwater providence of New Eden Valley. There he is partnered with a hippie cop named Benjamin Kaleo who is chill and doesn't take his job seriously. They go on crazy adventures and solve crimes. Benjamin is the slap stick comedy dude and sometimes he solves the crime by doing something stupid. The shows have no real political agenda behind them

Are the judiciary appointed or elected?
Appointed by the Fliudero and the Ministry of Justice (with the minister appointed by the Fliudero) from the Antiudecte.

What determines appointment of the the judiciary/what do the electorate base their decision on
How well they can follow and monitor what is effectively a debate, how well they can consider the arguments put forth and how well they can come to a rational decision.

What powers do the judiciary have?
The power to judge whether a claim has been sufficiently demonstrated or not, and to issue decrees and punishments within the limits of the laws at the time of the crime.

Is their religious influence on the judicial system? No.

What legal system do you have?
A Sefiontistic system, roughly similar to civil law.

How are judges viewed?
Like other Antiudecte, quite positive.
Renamed to "Sefeiunto-Redu" (because I changed the spelling).

The only racist gang in the DRD is the Anglo Brotherhood. Started off as one of the many resistance groups formed during the Japanese occupation of the island during WW2, they were all white group. After WW2 they formed as a gang to fight off non Anglo whites. They became more violent in the early 70s and the government started to crack down on them. Today they are nothing but a bunch of goons that run around smashing windows and yelling racist jargon. Only crimes they do are assault, arson, theft, and rape.
