I suppose playing Yemen (the Ansarullah side) is complicated due to the Saudi coalition war still raging and the country being heavily divided? I would also be interested in one of the newly independent provinces of Libya, although it isn't entirely clear to me where they stand on a geopolitical level. I would assume Fezzan is the most "Jamahiriya legacy" sort of nation, and Cyrenaica the most pro-Western?
Of course, if any other Arab or Islamic nation would be more needed for the sake of the RP as such, I'd definitely consider it.

Yeah, Houthis would be difficult and probably short-lived since the Saudis began heavier intervention. Your description of Lybia is pretty solid, but Cyrencia is still closer to their neighbors in North Africa than the European Union or United States, so more "western-like" than "Pro-western," but take that as you may.
Every nation on the roster, save for Syria, is open since Syria was reserved not long ago. Saudi Arabia's in a weird situation where if he posts he doesn't have to apply, but since I haven't heard from him in nearly two months, just consider the Saudis open.
Joining as the Saudis would probably be the most appreciated by your comrades in the Arab League, and it probably has the most to do, but really most nations in that region could be compelling.

Indeed, I have to say that several interesting nations could very well be played. There is also Kurdistan, Palestine, Israel could be a good one though you wish to play Arab/Islamic. Algeria is a good one, which puts direct conflict against me, Morocco. There is also Tunis, Iraq could be a good one since they have to deal with losing Kurdish lands. United Arab Emirates might be a good one to play, good economy and would help the Arab League a lot. Especially since we plan on having a Pan-Arab Space Agency to coordinate our efforts. There is also maybe Pakistan, we haven't heard from them for a bit.
So yeah, take your pick.

However, the Army and Air Force have a large amount of remarkably modern equipment provided by Russia in the last phase of the Civil War. Interestingly, a number of all-female volunteer units are still present in the Army, a legacy of the Civil War, kept around largely due to the shortage of manpower. Major Foreign Issues - Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights, the alliance with Iran, the Kurdish holdings, Saudi Arabian interference, the relationship with Russia
History - The 11-year Syrian Civil War devastated the nation. Hundreds of thousands were killed, millions were displaced. The Syrian Government won a country of rubble, and now they had to rebuild it. However, Syria has many enemies, which meant that it must to capitalize on the friendships it does have. Relations with Iran, already high due to cooperation during the Civil War, were finally formalized with the forming of the Axis of Resistance to counter the influence of Saudi Arabia, who had funded (and, it has been alleged, continues to fund) radical Sunni insurgents against the Syrian government. The Kurds maintain sovereignty over a part of Syrian land, unofficially let go during the Civil War to give the Syrian Government one less enemy to fight. Israel, as always, remains a large specter on the horizon. Syria struggles to regain its footing even two years after the end of the Civil War. However, reconstruction efforts are moving along decently well, and the final stubborn pockets of resistance are growing fewer and fewer. It would seem Syria is finally looking up, even if it will be a long road to prosperity.[/box][/spoiler]

History
The elections of July 2018 were a heavily contested one, with the government led by the Pakistan Muslim Leage (Nawaz), or PML-N, having been under fire for several corruption scandals. After having been dismissed from his position in 2017, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was officially accused of corruption and abuse of power, and was banned from running in the upcoming election, being replaced by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
The crisis of the PML-N, however, offered little chances for the main opposition parties either. The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) suffered from similar issues of corruption, cronyism and nepotism as well, and was often seen as a "family party" owned by the Bhutto clan. For a while, former cricket player Imran Khan and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party seemed to benefit the most of the political chaos, but in June 2018, Khan's possibility to run for office was severely restricted as well due to irregularities in his administration.
Led by the Punjabi Chief Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, the PML-N eventually succeeded in achieving a plurality of the vote in 2018, gaining only around 35% of the popular vote. Allying with a coalition of conservative and neoliberal parties, the PML-N continued to rule much like under Nawaz. However, in March of 2020, the Jammu and Kashmir Crisis with India shifted the Pakistani political landscape significantly.
When India militarised the border with Pakistan in response to Pakistani support for the Hizbul Mujahideen in Kashmir, the Shehbaz Sharif administration attempted to mend the situation as best they could, but to no avail. In fact, what was considered a weak and slow response by Islamabad actually angered many Pakistanis, who believed that the time had come for Pakistan to stand up for its Muslim brethren in occupied Kashmir, especially considering the military crackdowns against Islamic activists that had taken place there since 2016.
The Kashmir issue soon turned to protests, led by militant Barelvi religious organisations and demanding a stronger Pakistani response to India's aggressive moves. The situation could out of hand to such an extent that the Sharif government ordered the military to disperse the mass demonstrations. However, much like he had done during earlier Barelvi protests in 2017, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Armed Forces, refused to heed his direct orders, and instead chose to mediate between the protesters and the government, much to the dismay of the Sharif administration.
Eventually, the government gave in to popular sentiment, and sent General Bajwa to militarise the border and fend off potential Indian attacks. While the conflict itself was avoided, the strong response Bajwa and the Barelvi movement had carried out, increased the already high popularity of the Chief of Staff. By 2021, Qamar Javed Bajwa resigned from his office as commander of the Armed Forces, and joined the Pakistan Muslim League in order to run for office.
The Muslim League, which always was prone to fracturing and infighting, soon formed a new fraction around the popular General, and in early 2022, the Pakistan Muslim League (Renewal), or PML-R was founded, which quickly attracted many supporters from the former PML-N. Running for office on a platform of Islamic values, Pakistani nationalism and social justice, General Qamar Javed Bajwa won the general election of 2022, and was officially sworn in as Prime Minister in July of that year.
