IRC is literally older than a significant chunk of NSers (1988). It's also stupidly simple in the best way.

I remember when bash.org's stupid IRC logs were my daily dosage of funny, before a site that advertised itself as "A file transfer site for videos!" ended up replacing it for me. Some place called YouTube.

I'm not supposed to feel this old yet!

I still remember trying to organize heists on IRC while playing omerta, god that game was a grind fest

Sopo and I installed a clone of it a few months ago. I think we should get rid of Discord and FORCE people to move to that!!!!

Though, as I I’ve been told it, MSN was how raiders and indies got into Skype, while defenders ended up on IRC, so it’s an imperfect comparison anyways

I had a real life task that I needed to be spending my out-of-work time focusing on, and I was struggling to keep NS out of that time. Thus I decided the only way I could keep myself from spending too much time here was to spend almost no time here, and went on a leave of absence. At the time I expected the RL task I had to complete to take 18 months (that's what is typical) but due to some problems I encountered in Oct/Nov '16 it has taken a bit longer. From the outset this break was temporary, I knew I'd be back eventually.

I've just received the final date for this process, and it is August 27, 2018. The even better news is that the steps in this process are not all of equal difficulty, and the part I have left to do is what most consider to be the easiest.

I think over the next couple weeks I'm going to be easing myself back into GamePlay, so, hello everyone!

I was technically doing you a favor by not including the context. But you know what it's about and you and I both know precisely what you were trying to achieve.

Sounds like a discussion I had with Imki ages ago, when she was leading SPSF and Roavin was just a potential successor. There was some outreach both ways about maybe working with raiders a bit more, and then we got turned off by an incident where we felt misled and that we could not rely on SPSF. Some of it was a bit strong, perhaps, but we judge relationships largely on whether they'll be a reliable net positive to our raiding capabilities, and this was not looking that way. Would have been about the era where TGW got kicked out of our sever for a mixture of spying and unacceptably intense recruitment efforts from us, which added to tension/distrust.

First, that supposed "outreach" had already happened months prior, and in fact SPSF participated in an operation with TBH not long before that (the failed EU raid for which SPSF gave TBH several updaters). But you knew this, because you did say this incident was when I was a potential successor, and the EU raid attempt was while I was still a fresh soldier that nobody knew about. So, a lie.

You're not making much sense, but the general context remains as shown in the screenshot I posted.

Second, TGW getting kicked out happened after the Nakari incident, 6 months later. But you knew this, because you know exactly that it was the Nakari incident, over which you're bitter to this day, that led to that. So, a lie.

I did say general era. Indeed, lying and spying brought the matter of a defender presence in our server to a head. It'd been an ongoing, an on and off topic, given that it was a change from prior policy and had caused issues prior, and then a series of incidents in rapid sucession swung the matter firmly into "time to end this experiment.

And finally, the actual incident had nothing to do with TBH. And yet Souls was playing upset. Why?

SPSF previous promising certain things would be a certain way period, as a major condition of us being open to cooperation + an event demonstrating that promise not being kept = us being concerned with the state of said promise, and (as shown in screenshot) us getting a response admitting there was a slip from said promise and attempting to reinforce it. Yes, the math is pretty simple.

And I'm not sure what boat you're on, but like three sentences up from where that screenshot was taken, we're clearly discussing an event TBH was involved in.

I'm sure you have spicier quotes of mine to pull out of context. Something that actually shows at least my disdain for some certain GCR governments has be a bit better than quotes from a discussion about potential military cooperation or lack thereof. Got any of me doing something actually somewhat subversive, like trying to infiltrate one or swing a vote in it? You can do better than this.

In time, and without needing to pull any them out of context. Patience is a virtue. How do you feel about non-TBH raider groups recruiting, by the way?
