Click-clack click-clack click-clack...

The familiar sound of boots across a tiled floor, though the sound of around 200 boots at the same time was unusual in Bostopia. What was more usual though was the cheers coming from one dressing room as players arrived and the sound of silent reflection from the other. The Bostopian Gridiron team had been defeated yet again, going now to a 0 and 4 record on the tournament. The last home loss, 10 – 7 against Starblaydia, had been easier to take, because at least they had put some points on the board, but this was a 20 – 0 shutout in their own stadium that had been humbling at best. Their worst defeat to date, 0 – 31 at Lisander a game before was compounding the problems.

Laces were untied and boots slipped off while the players contemplated the latest game. It wasn’t anybody’s fault – they were simply outclassed by much better opposition. The World Bowl was proving to be a steep learning curve, when the girls were used to playing against teams who were basically the same standard as them. Was it the interception in the second quarter that cost them? No. Was it that they were girls? Definitely not. They weren’t afraid of being tackled or doing tackling, the domestic game showed that. They were just being outclassed.

There were positives though. The drive against Starblaydia which led to their first points at ‘the Common’ was impressive, being finished off with a classy 27 yard run down the sideline into the endzone. The euphoria of that was quickly forgotten by the time the clock wore out in the 4th, and practically ancient history by the time of this result.

The quarterback, Ava Burnett, looked up as she pulled off one of her socks, ready to say something, but stopped herself upon seeing the despondent looks on her teammates faces. It really would have been the right time to say something, but the mood was of a team that just wanted to shower and go and even that wouldn’t be simple. In other parts of the multiverse, Kenmoor Common would have been referred to as a ‘soccer-specific stadium’, meaning it had showers for around 20 people on each team, plus a large bath or two for players who’d picked up a bruise or two. This meant that only around half the team could even think about going home.
Uniforms were being half-heartedly chucked towards large black bin bags in the middle of the floor when somebody finally spoke up – ‘make sure you put all your socks the right way out, please ladies’. It was that sentence which would end up being reported on the one or two websites which bothered with this sport in the country. The first known managerial comments out of Clarise’s mouth weren’t the ones before the matches where she had tried to get the team pumped up, or the ones at half time where she was trying to pick the team off the floor already most of the time, it was her limp comment about making sure socks were the right way around.
Eventually, the changing rooms emptied and the lights were turned off as the final player drove away out of the car park and back into their private life. This broken team were bound to head in separate directions for the rest of the tournament if they didn’t get on track soon.

STRENGHS AND WEAKNESSES
The Prariean team has better-than average -
Secondary (very good, especially Paxton Duke)
Wide Receivers
Quarterback (kinda)
D-line (kinda)
And worse-than-average
Linebackers
O-line
Running

I would liken our quarterback to Russell Wilson, since he is very mobile and can thrown a long way.

The Palaces of Katashi
Image
Number one on the randomly ordered list: the Palaces of Katashi.

Canon #2: Cities of Ko-oren
1. Aminey, Côte Austral: On number one, a bit of a sore spot. Aminey was always a contrarian city, a cultural city away from the political centre of Ko-oren. For centuries, Aminey was the rival city to everything purely Ko-orenite - and look at them now: the nation's most well known tourist destination!
2. Schemerdrecht, Intermare: In pre-modern times, Schemerdrecht was the harbour and occasional economic hub of Ko-oren. It is located halfway up the bay from the capital, which means it easily controlled goods and people coming into the cultural and political centres. That, together with the fertile hinterland meant it profited and flourished ahead of the rest of the country.
3. Katashi, Yoshima: The overlooked city, as they say themselves. Katashi is a little different, also due to Yoshima being an independent entity until just a few centuries ago. Its old courts and palaces still stand proud, though uninhabited. A deserving top-three city.
4. Gehrenna, Mayara: A political choice, to put the first of the 'capital cities' as low as fourth. Gehrenna still holds many ministries and embassies, with all the grandeur and architecture that goes with it. It's not a large city, and it's not coastal, but it's the origin of the nation.
5. Greencaster, Surbourneshire: A representation of modern Ko-oren. It's the first city on here that hasn't been a major centre in Ko-oren for the last millennium. Right now, Greencaster facilitates most of the infrastructure entering the nation, and the city has grown to Ko-oren's largest in the meantime.
6. Santa Teresa, Finisterre: Santa Teresa was always just Ko-oren's lighthouse. Watching all that came into the country pass by. Only in the last century has it developed into a regional centre with a unique geography and a culture of never giving up, and a weird mix of Ko-oren and Yoshima, with a separate language.
7. Willowbourne, Gehrenna: Don't mistake Gehrenna for the entry higher up the list. Gehrenna is also the name of a province in the mid-west. Willowbourne is the highest situated city, in the middle between the capitals, Aminey, and Greencaster. It's close to mountains, rolling fields, and has a river powering through the CBD.
8. Eaglebury, West Strand Riding: Eaglebury is probably the smallest city on this list, apart from Penstead (see last entry). West Strand Riding is far from a place-to-be, but Eaglebury has turned into a local capital, surrounded by awe-inspiring nature, a quiet, safe harbour, and a hard-working frontier city.
9. Furune, Yoshima: Furune is the arts and studies capital of the East. It is close to some of the wildest nature Ko-oren has in the Selesian rainforest. Furune itself provides a great many windows on historical and modern culture, its old courtyards still there, waiting to be discovered.
X. Mayara, Mayara: One of the original capitals, with the strongest pressure at home - hence the name of the province. Overlooking the deepest part of the bay, Mayara has always been the home of most of the government, a status it is now sharing with Gehrenna. For the history of the state of Ko-oren, look no further.
=. Penstead, Mawryshire: Penstead is more like a town, not a city. This list already has a western bias, and it would've been easy to drop this town. Still, it's one-of-a-kind, far removed, serene, in the middle of its own little archipelago, and an amazing destination providing you with an amazing journey to get there.
0. Sterrenwolde, Intermare: Finally, it's another city on the bay. Sterrenwolde is the scientific capital of the west, perched out over the bay, where many discoveries have been made for the Ko-orenites: from astronomy, to physics, to engineering, and even humanities.

Bundison Picks Apart Tough North Prairie Secondary

Vangaziland had a tough time throwing against North Prairie in the first quarter. As usual, they began by establishing the run. Skog ran mostly slants to the outside of the line. This put pressure on the Vannish left and right tackle to step up their run blocking. North Prairie's D-line put up a strong fight, causing the Royals to go three and out on their first drive. The Vannish defense stepped up with a big play to stop North Prairie on their first drive, ending it with pressure behind the line. This gave Vangaziland momentum going into their second drive.

Once again, things started off with Skog. In more of a sweeping run, Vannish TE Steven Archer landed a nasty block on star CB Paxton Duke. Skog picked up 15 yards before being pushed out of bounds by the safety. At this point some may have expected a run or play-action.. The Royals were in I-Form. It was a pass play which drew most attention to the middle, with the TEs cutting over to the far side. Parker Vangaard ran closer to the sideline and then cut up in a streak. The receiver gained space. Bundison put the ball in front of him. With extended arms, Vangaard made the catch and gained a few yards before being dragged down with a leaping tackle. It was a 14 yard pass. The Vannish drive had two 1st downs in a row. The Vannish crowd began to roar.

The drive made its way to the red zone where Skog ran it about 6 yards out, with back to back runs. The Vannish QB stepped to the line, appearing to hand off before rolling out into a quick playaction. His pass went to Skog who ran up the right middle. The play showed excellent balance on the part of the QB.

Vangaziland would score it's second touchdown in the 2nd quarter. By now, Bundison was riding high on confidence. The Royals continued to throw their TEs at the opposing cornerbacks. The receivers ran aggressive routes, with Bergum dropping an opportunity for a 35 yard reception. Bergum is known for his speed, but was sprinting a little too fast to control the catch. The Royals still had other chances to advance during that drive. A few plays later, a 7 yard pass following a 9 yard Skog run gave Vangaziland their second TD. TE Fred Loxingsen made the leaping catch in the end zone.

In the coure of the game, the Vannish D gave up one touchdown and a field goal. For the most part they stepped up to stop NP from bringing things level. North Prairie had a hard time establishing the run against the big Vannish defenders. Towards the end of the game, they mave have been pressure to go to the air. This is a recipe for disaster against a more experienced team.

"We're going to need solid efforts like this from our defense", said coach Kenton Tillford. "Offense has put up a lot of points this season. The most in our group. Defense has struggled, but they've given us enough to work with."

The Vannish defensive ends spent the game chasing the opposing QB. He is known for being a scrambler. The Vangazi put that to the test. He did prove hard to get to, but the pressure attempted to disrupt North Prairie's passing game.

Former soccer player Antonio Herrera added another field goal to his season tally. His latest score was a kick from 32 yards. Fullback Taye Poconos was dropped behind the line on a short yardage attempt, but ran up the middle to set it up.

Team captain and QB Dan Bundison was pleased with the match. "This is what we like to see, baby", said the Vangazi who appears to have a thinning hairline. "If we make it to the playoffs, the momentum we gained tonight might be the turning point. I was glad to have a stronger game and hope it helps us down the line."

Bundison went for 210 yards against North Prarie, with 115 going to Parker Vangaard. This made a tough night for North Prarie's top corner. Skog had his least exciting game, with 85 yards and no scoring. He still had several timely runs which established him as a threat. The defensive line did well to keep Skog from breaking over 100 yards, despite this.

"They fought really well for one of the newer teams in the competition", said safety Karver Price. "They may be one of the teams to watch out for in the future."

Vangaziland will travel to Irwil for Game 5.

Sporting World Offices, Falkamore, Nejax, Free Republics

Nova Hellstrom-Hancock was sitting in her office, which had once belonged to Jasper Chuter. Nova disliked this office because of the memories of all the times she'd had sex with that creep to keep her job at Sporting World. Now, she had his job and she was trying to leave her mark upon Sporting World Magazine by trying to reorient its coverage away from sensationalism and back to a focus on sports, with a special emphasis on campaigning for equal representation for women in sports. However, there was a black mark on the magazine's integrity and that was Henriette Lecuyer, the freaking Ren Rep cheerleader whom that misogynistic coach Jak Hamilton had effectively forced on her predecessor. Her coverage was flat out terrible, blatantly biased, uncritical of the team even after their embarrassing blowout loss to Alpine Union, and pushed Hamilton's backward views on women in sports. All-in-all, she was a disaster and the only reason she hadn't been fired yet was because Jak Hamilton wasn't going to grant access to her replacement.

Nova felt bad for Gloria Trentini who reminded her of a younger version of herself. Miss Trentini was still writing for Sporting World but Nova had temporarily reassigned her to cover domestic football. She knew that she couldn't stand up to Jak Hamilton, whose team was literally boring its own fans to tears. If she even tried, then Sporting World wouldn't have inside information to report and their readers expected inside information. At that very moment, Gloria Trentini unexpectedly showed up at her office.

Nova Hellstrom-Hancock - Gloria, is there something I can do for you?

Gloria Trentini - Nova, I'm so bored covering domestic training camps. I don't know how many times I can write articles about Yellow Bay's quarterback and whether he'll be ready for the start of the season. I'd like to be doing something more exciting. I don't even like covering football and I definitely don't like covering domestic leagues. I want to travel the multiverse, explore exotic lands and meet cool people. I don't want to be in some hick town in the middle of nowhere!

Nova Hellstrom-Hancock - I understand where you're coming from Gloria and I'll try to get you reassigned as soon as possible. Henriette is getting fired as soon as that woman-hating geezer of a football coach finally retires, so you can have your old job back soon.

Gloria Trentini - I don't want that job back! I want to be doing something exciting. Why can't I cover something interesting and exotic like a tennis tournament or the rugby sevens competition?

Nova Hellstrom-Hancock - Our readers are not particularly interested in those sports. I'm surprised somebody could even find enough players for a rugby union game the other year when we hosted their World Cup and nobody cares about tennis even during the Olympics.

Gloria Trentini - Isn't there anything you could let me report on that isn't football?

Nova Hellstrom-Hancock - Well, there's ice hockey.

Gloria Trentini - I don't want to be sitting around in some cold ice rink and besides I don't understand anything about that sport.

Nova Hellstrom-Hancock - Looks like you may be in luck, Gloria. I just got a press release announcing that we now have a National Water Polo Team. You can cover that if you want to.

Gloria Trentini - That actually sounds good to me, Nova. Thank you for the opportunity.

Nova Hellstrom-Hancock - No problem.

As Gloria left her office, Nova was suddenly left with a problem. She needed to hire a new domestic football correspondent quickly and she would need a new international football correspondent in a few weeks. She read Henriette Lecuyer's latest report about the game between Hamilton's team and The Wolf Zones, which was the usual complete garbage. In fact, Nova thought, this story was worse than the game but she reluctantly approved it unedited anyway. It wasn't like she could do anything when Hamilton was basically forcing her to let that incompetent cheerleader of his cover the National Football Team. After thinking about it for a while, Nova decided that there was one way she could cover the more interesting story about the anti-sexism protests outside of the World Bowl games: She decided to send a spare reporter to cover the story for the following issue of Sporting World...

Something has got to change with the offense, everyone knows this and Devonta is clearly worried about losing his job if he doesn't do something about this in the coming matches. He had invited Offensive Coordinator, Richard Pitt, to his office to discuss some changes. "Pitt have a seat please" He says to the legendary Quarterback. "We really need to find a way to spark up this Offense, we have the talent but they just aren't scoring and frankly I mean no disrespect because I am a big fan of yours but I think you're to blame." Pitt in a very heavy Maxtopian accent replies "I'm sorry boss but I must be frank too, it's not my fault it's the damn Quarterback's fault. He makes some of the dumbest reads I've ever seen, In fact the only touch down pass he threw to Vaughn almost got intercepted by the double coverage by Sevyk and Gomulka. Plus the hit by Nikita that caused the fumble in the 4th quarter that put Pridenstovia in position for that final field goal , Okotawa didn't even try to recover it he just stood their." Devonta nods his head "I thought you might say that and I partly agree with you so I decided to sub out Okotawa for the back up Hector Estevez" Pitt's eyes glow with the news "You're making a good choice boss, Estevez might be young but I seen flashes of talent that impress me. He's been studying up on our playbook and I can develop him to be even better than Okotawa in no time"
"You're free to go Pitt, I would like it if you were the one to inform both Okotawa and Estevez of this lineup change though" replies Devonta as he dismisses Pitt from the meeting.

OOC:I changed the original starting lineup thread I made to reflect Estevez being promoted to the starting lineup.

SportsLife: Stories of Your Favorite Sports Players from the Ministry

"This is the Minister of Sports Josiah Baudelaire here as part of SportsLife coverage on this summer's World Bowl. I'm currently the assistant coach of the team right now. However, I wanted to express my experience of my war days. Many of you at school still might be studying this right now, but for you viewers, I want to discuss on my time serving in the Blackline War.

I remember being the age of 14, where my parents were rich with 10,000 chips in their disposal. I had a strained relationship with my girlfriend, because I gotten some sort of moderate sexual dysfunction. To attempt to prove to everyone, I was a man, I enrolled in our armed forces when the Blackline War was happening. We were deployed at an urban and rural area of some buildings near a main highway. Our squad was ordered to travel offroad, due to the opposition adding traps and spike strips to prevent travel in between outposts. We were driving with me being in one jeep and the rest of us in another. It was a simply supply delivery, as the enemy had started to deploy some sort of chemical into the forests nearby. The weather had taken the turn for the worst, as it was a complete downpour. Eventually, the roads were being flooded, so the squad managed to seek shelter at an abandoned diner.

We turned it into a temporarily safehouse. Me and the boys decided to enjoy ourselves, after we found some cold beer in the freezer, ripe for the taking. I remember getting a bit too on the flow, as they say. The alcohol must have made this one guy reckless. We gotten in an argument, then suddenly, there was literally the sounds of hell coming outside. Some enemy soldiers had some explosive ammo in their guns, as they managed to blow up anything at the parking lot outside. One of them got in and stabbed a fellow I knew named Dennis to death, so we entered a full clutch mode.

If they gave us hellfire, we gave some fire back. The downpour outside turned into a storm of bullets and lead. They killed about 3 more of our men, before an attack helicopter appeared. We managed to get out of that damned place in time, before they blew it up. Eventually, the cavalry arrived to save our asses. I could have possibly had a near-death experience or two. Even though, some of my men are dead, I still honor them as brave crazy bastards. Pardon me for my language, but they might censor that, anyways."

Jagerhunde on a Streak?
We're now two for two. Is this the runway lights on a foggy day??

My last couple articles on the Jebslund Jagerhunde have been rather negative, due to the losing streak the team started with in the World Bowl. As regular readers of my opinion pieces know, I tend to be a bit of a Wera Wermutstropfen, and, rest assured, my darling sadists, that's not changing today. But I am also a kerbal who can admit when I'm wrong, and I may yet have a nice big plate of crow in front of me courtesy of the Jagerhunde. See, with their game four victory, our boys and girls have managed to put themselves at a somewhat not-so-embarrassing 2-2 record, with 34 points scored during the game (Guess Flora's been learning how to throw!). Now, I'm still not quiiiiite ready to bust out the Schickehosen and beer yet, but I'm starting to see some flat ground ahead for the team to land on.

As usual, no one from the team was available to comment. Seems the Jagerhunde share my caution as far as counting their StuGs. In any event, you all reading this will be happy to know that I took the liberty of watching our team train after last week's game, and, while I'm not permitted to give any details (sodding non-disclosure agreements...), I *can* tell all you eager sports fans that I've never even heard of a sports team training longer and harder for their games. Given that we're up against the Main Nation Ministry team next, I can't say I'm all that surprised, and I'm sure the team staff is studying every nanosecond of footage they can to get the upper hand. I can't say for sure how the Jagerhunde will fare against them, but I can definitely promise it'll be one hell of a game, folks! Make sure not to miss it, folks! I know I won't (and, yes, I'll be giving autographs! No kisses, though. Hugs and photos are welcome!).

And while you're there, seeing as they'll be playing in StuGville, why not stuff your tanks with some snackage from...

Today's featured Imbissmeister, Fettigerlöffel steak bites! You know 'em, you love 'em, you can't live without 'em, but, if you've somehow gotten into sports attending and managed never to hear of 'em, Fettigerlöffel steak bites are bite-sized bits of steak H*E*A*V*E*N!!!! Grilled to perfection, seasoned like your favorite veteran players, and served with a side of the best homefries ever to grace a cardboard bowl, these tender little dreams will keep you nice and satisfied while you cheer our Jagerhunde to (Krakken willing) victory! Even better, mention me, Eva Kerman von der Sportler, you'll get either three meats off a big bowl or a free beer of your choice with your order! Look for them in each of the concessions areas, or ask the wandering canvassers to get you a bowl at the big game!

Writing for the Sportler, this has been Eva Kerman wishing you a lucky season!

Jebslund is a nation of kerbals ruled by Emperor Jebediah Kerman. We reject tyranny, believing that rights should be protected, though we also believe said rights end where the rights of others begin.
Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats, with the exception of lifespan.

Velstrania
Nickname: Holy Warriors
Head Coach: Mutalinas nos Verulia (age 56, from Perlan, Velstrania)
Home Field (for WB XXXV): Defence memorial dome (capacity of 119,480), Sondestadt, Velstrania
Demonym: People from Velstrania are known as Velsturmen, singular is Velsturman. This was the result of a translation error during early attempts at colonisation from foreign powers. For things relating to Velstrania (its cuisine, its gridiron team etc) the demonym is Velstranian; or if you prefer, in the Velstur language 'Velstrasu.'
Important notes:

Velstrania is a province of the Greater Vakolicci Haven, which due to perceived racism now enters sporting competitions independent of the main havenic delegation, which has taken the name 'vakolicci haven and celeria,' even though a country by that name has never existed in human history. Velsturmen are a strong-willed, patriotic and devoutly religious people, who live in a theocratic state under the mazhrit (pronounced maz-her-it) who is seen as the voice of god on Earth. Some Velsturmen however perceive the Mazhrit as an embodiment of God.
Velstrasu religion is all-encompassing and directs many if not all areas of daily life; most notably it is the reason for the distinctive way in which Velsturmen move when going about their business. One of the most important commandments is that loyal believers must 'move in the grace of god;' however the meaning of this is distinctly unclear. It has led to the predominance in Velstrania of a light, dance-like style of walking and an easy, graceful style of running; although it is beautiful on the eyes it does impede certain procedures, like playing gridiron football to the best of the teams potential.
The high ranking Velstrania holds (3rd) is often attributed both to the skill of its players as well as to their sheer physical size. One of the targets that Velstrania has often had to defend itself from foreign aggressors is more simple to understand than others: Velsturmen are, on average over 7 and a half feet tall, making them vvaluable to imperialist nations as slaves and similarly to football coaches as very tall wide receivers.
This being said, the current Velsturman line-up is surprisingly young, with only 4 holdouts from world bowl XXXIV.

Приднестровская Гридиронная Суперлига
PRIDNESTROVIAN GRIDIRON SUPER LEAGUE

SEASON II RECAP

Hello once again, comrades, friends and fellow fans in gridiron. Yesterday we got to work recapping the second season of the PGSL, so why should we choose this moment to stop now? I've got a lot of juice results here just waiting to be recapped. So let's get to it then.

MATCHDAY THREE
Sheriff Tiraspol 7 3 10 10 30
Yeralenko Torpedoes 10 0 0 7 17

Bratsk Dolphins 3 0 3 14 20
Rheinburg Spartans 7 14 0 10 31

Admiral Novorossiysk 0 7 0 7 X 14
Macaresti Gladiators 7 0 7 0 6 20

Kesselburger Kestrels 0 3 7 7 17
Dinamo Bender 16 0 7 3 26

Novonikolaysk Sharks 0 3 14 7 24
CSKA Tiraspol 10 3 17 17 47

All in all, this matchday was a day where almost all teams who were expected to win won their games. The one team who failed to take advantage of their status as favorites to win the game were Admiral Novorossiysk, and they failed to win against a Macaresti team that was still trying to find its groove after the rustiness of the offseason had gotten to them all. It should be noted though that Macaresti won against Admiral in the very first game to go to overtime in this season of the PGSL, and that Faina Drees almost dropped the pigskin before she finally managed to get control of it in the end zone. My beloved CSKA Tiraspol continues to roll over their opposition, with the Sharks of Novonikolaysk being their most recent casualty. CSKA tallied the highest ever recorded score in the PGSL this season, while the 47-24 scoreline is currently the highest-scoring contest in the league as well. I wonder if it will be broken and who will possibly break it?

MATCHDAY FOUR
Dinamo Bender 6 9 0 10 25
Novonikolaysk Sharks 0 0 0 14 14

Macaresti Gladiators 7 3 10 14 3 37
Kesselburger Kestrels 10 14 10 0 0 34

Rheinburg Spartans 3 7 3 7 20
Admiral Novorossiysk 0 0 14 3 17

Yeralenko Torpedoes 0 3 10 0 13
Bratsk Dolphins 0 10 6 14 30

Antakya Hawks 7 0 10 3 20
Sheriff Tiraspol 14 14 3 10 41

It seems as if Admiral Novorossiysk just cannot get a win this season! You know how there are always these teams that seemingly go on a run of games without ever winning? Well, this season it looks like it's Admiral's turn to be the losers. Not that their fans will enjoy it, I am sure. If you think about it though, Stan "The Man" Serban's two touchdown miracle in the third quarter, when Rheinburg had been able to shut them out for the entirety of the first half, was a miracle all of its own. Such a shame that it had to end the way that it did, with Grzegorz Kimmich finding Christopher Jericho for an easy touchdown to close out the game. Another team that seemingly can't get a win this season is the Yeralenko Torpedoes, who fell 30-13 against the Bratsk Dolphins and a quarterback masterclass from Kelly Profit, who could very well be on her way to having a breakout season with the Dolphins.

And speaking of the Macaresti Gladiators, this is the second game in two matchdays that they've had to go to overtime to win a game, although this time they could only muster up a field goal to give them the lead, and under new overtime rules the Kesselburger Kestrels had the chance to either match the Macaresti field goal or beat it with an outright touchdown, but the Kestrels were unable to do that as their attempt at a field goal went to the right of the uprights from 48 yards away, granting the Gladiators the win.

MATCHDAY FIVE
Bratsk Dolphins 7 6 0 14 27
Antakya Hawks 7 3 3 0 13

Admiral Novorossiysk 0 13 10 6 29
Yeralenko Torpedoes 0 7 3 0 10

Kesselburger Kestrels 7 3 6 10 26
Rheinburg Spartans 3 3 7 0 13

Novonikolaysk Sharks 7 9 0 0 6 22
Macaresti Gladiators 10 0 6 0 X 16

CSKA Tiraspol 7 3 3 0 13
Dinamo Bender 10 3 0 3 16

So it is possible for both Admiral and Novonikolaysk to win this season! Unfortunately for Yeralenko fans though, Admiral's first win of the season came against them, but I'm sure Admiral fans wouldn't mind that! They've been crying out for a win since the start of the season, and while Stan Serban hasn't disappointed with his performances, it's the rest of the Admiral team that has let the city of Novorossiysk down. As for Novonikolaysk, they also had to go to overtime to beat who else but the Macaresti Gladiators, who seem to have developed a habit for taking more than four quarters to win a game. This time though, the Gladiators were unable to win the game that's gone to overtime, as Novonikolaysk won the toss and also scored the game-winning touchdown through a Cortez Amoroso sneak play.

However, for fans of CSKA Tiraspol (like me) this was not a good day. Once again Dinamo Bender has come up trumps in the Derby of All Derbies once again, and for us CSKA fans, it's getting a bit too much now. All CSKA fans who want to strangle Yevgeniy Goncharovsky with me, raise your hands. No one? Okay then. I'll keep quiet about this if you do.

PGSL Table After Matchday Five
Pld W L PF PA PD
1 Dinamo Bender 5 5 0 104 63 +41
2 Sheriff Tiraspol 4 4 0 116 53 +63
3 CSKA Tiraspol 4 3 1 103 59 +44
4 Bratsk Dolphins 5 3 2 99 86 +13
5 Macaresti Gladiators 5 2 3 101 105 −4
6 Kesselburger Kestrels 5 2 3 107 113 −6
7 Antakya Hawks 4 2 2 84 105 −21
8 Rheinburg Spartans 5 2 3 80 116 −36
9 Admiral Novorossiysk 5 1 4 82 89 −7
10 Novonikolaysk Sharks 4 1 3 73 108 −35
11 Yeralenko Torpedoes 4 0 4 61 113 −52

So now we come to the PGSL regular season table after five games (for some of the teams, at least; remember the bye days!) It doesn't make good reading for CSKA fans once again, as both of their team's greatest enemies Dinamo Bender and Sheriff Tiraspol lead the table. The damned Dinamo are top of the table with five wins out of five while Sheriff are right behind them with four wins from four. Meanwhile, at the wrong end, the Yeralenko Torpedoes now remain the only team to have not won a single game at all in these five matchdays. Will this trend continue or will the Torpedoes finally hit some form before coming into the home stretch?

Also, looking at this table, you can see exactly why the league hates bye days and having an uneven number of teams. Wins count for everything in the PGSL, with one more win potentially the difference between going to the playoffs this season and closing up shop to rebuild for next season. Thank goodness a new expansion team is already in the works!

World Bowl XXXV Bonus! Group Stage Matchday Five
Ashkam 0 7 0 0 7
Pridnestrovia 7 10 7 7 31

And now for yet another World Bowl special. Pridnestrovia headed to Ashkam for their fifth match in the group stage of World Bowl XXXV, with the expectation being that the Red Army will go away from this mysterious country with a win, and that is exactly what they did. Ashkam won the coin toss and elected to receive, but they were unable to much with their first possession except go three-and-out. Pridnestrovia did much better with their first possession, and Stan Serban found the returning Valentyn Sevyk for a 3-yard touchdown pass, the first TD of the game. In the second quarter though, Ashkam responded with a touchdown of their own, with their running back being able to run 16 yards to get to the end zone. After that though, the Ashkamites were completely dominated out of the game, and we scored three touchdowns and a field goal to add to our score and triumph over Ashkam. Valentin Sevyk scored two more touchdowns after his first one in the first quarter, with Guntram Rosenfeld getting the credit for the fourth one (although he actually scored his touchdown in the second quarter). This victory puts us in second place right behind Taeshan, the defending World Bowl champs, and while we have another round of games ahead of us, we are really in a good place to get something out of this World Bowl once again. Third place is all well and good from the last time, but having tasted success, we all want more, and we want to dethrone Taeshan and claim that World Bowl for ourselves. My friends from Gaelic Gamers will want the same thing for Abanhfleft, but when it comes down to that, I will forever and always support my motherland, my Rodina, the Pridnestrovian Republic. Sorry, Dara, but I know you'll side with Abanhfleft when you're asked the question.

Anyway, that does it for me for today. Tomorrow we will be recapping even more PGSL action from Season 2, and maybe there will also be a World Bowl bonus. До свидания.

WORLD BOWL XXXV RECAP: MATCHDAY FIVE

Allamunnic States 7 10 14 10 41
Abanhfleft 0 6 3 0 9

And so the dream comes to an end. All the hopes that we had of potentially being able to beat the Allamunnic States seeing as we've got a good run of games and wins going for us has all come to naught. In fact, I don't even think I'm up for the challenge of recapping this particular game seeing as how it's exhausted me emotionally and mentally, but I have to do it. I have to do it.

Allamunnic States won the toss and wrapped up their first possession with a touchdown rush from Torren Tormundsunn, who despite being listed among the Regulars' tight ends plays more like a fullback, and it was a classic running back play that he utilized to great effect as he shrugged off two tackles from Fleftic linebackers to charge through to the end zone. Meanwhile, guess what happened to Abanhfleft's first possession of the game. You guessed it: three-and-out. Pity, I thought we would at least get further than the 30-yard line when we inevitably turned it over to the Fanboys. I was expecting us to get stopped at the 40-yard line, but oh well.

It did seem though that we had gotten back into the groove when we managed to score a touchdown in the second quarter. Harrison Aumann found Saddam Hussain ready and waiting in the 2-yard line and after that it was just simply a matter of reaching out and breaking the plane with the football. Let's not mention that squib of a point after touchdown though because that most certainly did not happen. But you know what the Regulars did in response? Ole Haensley caught the ball from Rowan Daanyls' overhead toss and then ran 41 yards for one of the most WTF touchdowns in my World Bowl history. To rub salt into the wound, the Regulars then made both the resulting PAT as well as a 38-yard field goal to close out the second quarter after yet another three-and-out on the part of us Fleftics.

Waldr Hoerst then scored the Regulars' third touchdown following yet another Fleftic three-and-out, and then when it looked like the Armored Revolutionaries finally had a drive going for them and going their way, Harrison Aumann just had to pass the ball in the general direction of Anke Baenty, and the result? Pick-six. Somebody put us out of our misery already. It doesn't help that all that we could muster up in that horrid third quarter was a field goal right at the end. Please, somebody stop the damn match already. By God!

One more field goal and then Ole Haensley's second touchdown of the game sees the Regulars see off the Armord Revolutionaries and condemn Abanhfleft to third spot. Third spot, mate. I don't believe this shit. And of course the weather has chosen this exact time to turn nasty. Oh, what a world we live in. I don't know if the weather is commiserating with me or if like the Allamunnic States in the second quarter, it's just rubbing in salt into the wounds yet again. I can't believe the shit that I have to go through as a Fleftic gridiron fan. Hopefully things pick up in the second half of the group stage, or else it's game over for us all in waving the blue, orange and green. Tabitha McNulty, Tabitha McNulty, Tabitha McNulty....

With the first season of the Barunian Gridiron League delayed yet again, many of the players are eager to get on the field and play some football. The team are all veterans now - there are some concerns about the age and fitness levels of the players, but there still remains a strong sense of the team from KMU that came in as complete novices and forever changed the landscape of Barunian sport. While many hope that the BGL will bring fresh new talent too the side, many will miss the familiar faces of these most unlikely sporting heroes. For now though, they remain on the field for another World Bowl, not in their own backyard as may have been hoped, but in the much more familiar gridiron setting of Newmanistan. This is World Bowl XXXV, and the Barunians have come to play!

90-99 Auxiliaries

Team Name and Kits
The team name is the Barunia Sea Cows, and take their name from the Barunian Sea Cow, or White Dugong, a rare sirenian which is known to live only in the deep sea and coastal water around Barunia. Team kits utilise the three colours of the Barunian flag, with the helmets in yellow, a colour often associated with Barunian sports. The distinctive white stripe flanked by two thin red lines on the flag is a dominant feature in the kit; it features on the socks, the side of the pants, the shoulders of the shirts, and down the centre of the helmet.

Play Style
The Sea Cows have a built a reputation as a difficult team to score against, with their games often low scoring affairs. A well-skilled defensive unit with some hard hitters has formed the bedrock of their success. Offensively, the Sea Cows will always favour the running game, with the team happy to drive the length of a field solely on rushes. Tight ends and H-Backs are widely used, and are often the favoured receivers of long passes. The Barunians have turned their inexperience with the game into unpredictability, and they are fully prepared to take risks (such as playing on fourth down) and crazy plays in an effort to keep the opposition guessing. Expect more trick and unusual plays, such as laterals, which the players excel at as they mostly come from rugby backgrounds. The special teams unit is very good, and field goals are a common occurrence - to the point where kicker Bill Holman led the team in points scored at WBXXVIII.

The Reckoning
| A journey thru the [WB] life of a 4'3" QB |

How worse can it get, I awaken from my slumber. How long have I been out, how long have I been not competing? My team, we're down, I can barely stay awake with my body, the sweats are continuing and the chills are shaking me the entiretly. Drawkland, we lost - 26-13, oh damn, we're running in the gutter. So, are we now out or. Shit. What am I going to do we've got to get a win don't we? Its not like we're...going to crash out? South Covello, they're waking up, I can think?

"Good morning Mr. Carter, I'm your nurse, Ovani Durmont, I'm here with your meal!"

They told me to flip the switch but I'm getting tired already. I-I. Even...

The halfway report - Dragonflies all right but left out

The Dragonflies enter the World Bowl as the third ranked team in the group, and that's still where they're sitting right now. The faceless Quebecois are in second, behind Cosumar. Those two teams are sitting comfortably at four wins and a loss. Ko-oren and Cassadaigua follow on three wins and two losses. Not far behind, but not where we would've wanted to be.

Cassadaigua 14–10 Ko-oren
QB: Merolidhothen. 19/24, 180 yds, 1 TD, 2 INTs, 77,1 QBR.
Rushing: Alastair Thorebourne. 20 carries, 108 yards, 1 TD.
Receiving: Gurethen Tharadhen. 6 rec, 74 yds, 1 TD.
Def: 5 sacks, 0 FFs, 1 INT.

Ko-oren 13–13 Cosumar (26–23 OT)
QB: Reeman. 25/40, 301 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, 83,4 QBR.
Rushing: Alastair Thorebourne. 12 carries, 65 yards, 1 TD.
Receiving: Lloyd Whitlock. 9 rec, 130 yds.
Def: 8 sacks, 1 FF, 1 INT.

The Greater Nordics 13–41 Ko-oren
QB: Merolidhothen. 25/36, 330 yds, 3 TDs, 0 INTs, 125,9 QBR.
Rushing: Alastair Thorebourne. 14 carries, 82 yards.
Receiving: Tasathen Lokaguthen. 8 rec, 104 yds, 1 TD.
Def: 7 sacks, 1 FF, 3 INT.

Melbergia 6–26 Ko-oren
QB: Merolidhothen. 19/24, 277 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, 111,3 QBR.
Rushing: Owen Robertson. 8 carries, 49 yards, 2 TDs.
Receiving: Gurethen Tharadhen. 6 rec, 78 yds, 1 TD.
Def: 10 sacks, 2 FFs, 2 INTs

Ko-oren 14–20 Royal Kingdom of Quebec
QB: Merolidhothen. 21/31, 239 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, 88,0 QBR.
Rushing: Alastair Thorebourne. 18 carries, 73 yards.
Receiving: Gwerud Pwlh. 10 rec, 93 yds, 1 TD.
Def: 4 sacks, 0 FFs, 1 INT

Overall, Merolidhothen is more than just a serviceable QB. Some had hoped for Reeman or Loder to step up, even if just to switch the style of play. Loder could bring more danger on option plays as a good runner himself, while Reeman is a great reader of defences. Still, Merolidhothen has put up a huge performance of himself in the first five games. Interceptions are a bit of a problem, throwing one per game on average, but he's done well to avoid sacks, and he's throwing TDs. His completion percentage stands at 73% right now, which almost counts as off the charts. In the one game that the Dragonflies did rely heavily on the QB, Merolidhothen was injured and Reeman replaced him, going 25 from 40 for 301, but failed to push the offence into the end zone. Merolidhothen is here to stay.

The variety of offence is also something that we can be very happy with. Short passes to tight ends are still the bread and butter of this offence, but it's something that's very, very hard to stop. On every passing play, there are six blockers and four receivers, but up until the snap, it's almost impossible to tell which players are blocking and which are receiving. With 12 personnel, that's one running back and two tight ends, you have a 33% chance of guessing right which skill player ends up being the sixth blocker. This is something that will plague opposing defences for the entirety of this World Bowl. The downside is the quality of the wide receivers. Outside of Whitlock, there are no deep threats and we can see the the offence has a hard time stretching the defence vertically, though Lokaguthen has at times provided this extra support. Defences are never fooled by the depth of our offence (in terms of yards down the field) but often fooled by the sheer options our offence provides. And that is still without a good running option at quarterback.

The battle is won in the trenches, and the offensive line is keeping up pretty well. Some rushers have proved difficult, but with a sixth blocker on every passing play, sacks and qb pressures have been kept to a minimum. Injuries are a problem though, and we have some linemen play in positions they're not used to.

The defensive line isn't the Dragonflies' strong point, but they have managed to keep quarterbacks in check and contain outside rushers as well. At times they've penetrated into the backfield very well and have recorded a large number of sacks in games versus weaker opponents. They linebackers are doing an amazing job as is always expected, and they've proven to be both good at run defence, pass defence and the occasional zone defence where LBs are asked to join in. The linebacker corps have taken the majority of sacks as well.

The secondary is the Green and Blues' flagship unit and they've not disappointed. They've gotten at least one interception per game, and been invaluable in the Cosumar game.

Basically, the offence is far better than expected, the defence is holding up, but the secondary wins us games. Special teams have been passable: kicking and punting have been up to standards, and yRhiddeg is continuing on with the high accuracy he posted during the season. Returning has been an issue, the offence has never started a drive beyond the 27 yard line.

The Alpine Union blanks the Equestrian States

Oglethorpe, Republic of Chattahoochee - (NAP) After losing on the road against Barunia, the Alpines were back at home in Oglethorpe to face the Equestrian States. One thing that surprised most Alpine fans is that not every players on the Equestrian States' team were sapient ponies. They has humans too on their team. The Alpines started with the ball but they were unable to score on their first drive. The Ponies didn't score either on their first drive (well they didn't score at all). Equestrian punter punted the ball which was dead at the 6th yards line in Alpine territory. 7 minutes later, still the same drive, Coconut Riddick scored a 5 yards rushing tochdown on a 2nd and goal and the Bisons were leading 7-0! The Alpines made a field goal early in the 2nd quarter. Then with 3 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter, the Equestrian States attempts a 61 yards field goal but the kick is blocked by Kane VanderHeiden. Kevin McGinnis picks up the lose ball and runs to the end zone for a touchdown and the score is 17-0 Reprezentacja Alpejski at the halftime! The Alpines made two field goals in the 2nd half and won the game 23-0!

The Alpine Union is still in 1st place in group 5, tied with the Free republics, with barunia and Alenburg not far behind. The Bisons next two games are at home in Ueckermünde against Alenburg and The Wolf Zones . Dawson Floyd, who missed 3 games with a nose injury, has been upgraded to probable against Alenburg. Demetrius Robinson (groin) is questionnable vs Alenburg.

A lot is going through Hector Estevez's mind right now, He was a starter for his Roglonian premier League Team, while it is growing in talent it's not nearly as good as some of the other leagues around the world. However, now he's starting for the national team playing with players that have played internationally in some of the best leagues in the world. He especially is a fan of Elliot Vaughn who plays in the Free Republics premier league, arguably one of the top premier leagues in the world. "Don't worry Estevez, you might be young but I've seen you play in the Roglonian League and you have talent, who knows you might even be playing in a foreign premier league one day after they see your performance in these tournaments" the offensive coordinator Pitt, says to the nervous Quarterback. Estevez nods his head as he runs out of the locker room to head out to the field.

(Only going to RP key moments of the game)
1st Quarter -
Estevez has had a good drive so far, he's in the end zone and the game is still score less, even if he fails to convert Lex Star can clearly make the field goal from this distance. Estevez is smart, he knows that the tight end Levi Smith is a mis-match for almost any defense when he's in the end-zone so he calls a play especially designed to get the balls in to smith's hand. Jean Claude snaps the ball, it's a play action pass so Alex Vaughn fakes the run, it buys Estevez a little bit of time to pass the ball directly into Smith's hands.... TOUCHDOWN! Smith makes the catch and this marks his 2nd touchdown of the tournament. Star makes the extra point and the offense heads back to the bench, a big smile is seen on Estevez face and an even bigger one on Pitt's. The happiness is short lived however because right during the next drive, Kanada Srivastav breaks through for a long 40 yard rushing touchdown and the kicker proceeds to make the extra point thus tying the game.

2nd Quarter -
It's now the fourth drive of this offense, things are looking good for Estevez as he was able to score in his very first drive as a starting Quarterback and showed great play calling ability with the play he called for Smith to score. It's currently the 3rd down but Estevez has gotten the team to a good range, definitely within scoring distance by Lex Star, the ball is snapped and he makes a pass to Elliot Vaugh. Vaughn makes the catch but is unable to hold on to it because of the tight double pressure by this defense. Pitt sends out the kicking team and Star makes the field goal. The score is now 10-7 in favor of Roglonia. Coach Devonta's happy with Estevez performance, Okotawa on the other hand looks quite nervous in the bench as he might permanently lose the starting job now. However, Devonta's performance is short lived, his Defense which is normally the best part of his team has now given up another touchdown. This time it was a crisp pass from Din Goyal to Maha Patel. The Score is now 14-10 in favor of Azadeshia.

Still 2nd Quarter - Their is 15 seconds left in the 1st half, Pitt has just used his final time out to stop the clock, he at least needs Estevez to get in for the range of Star. The ball is snapped and Estevez launches the ball down to Elliot Vaughn and this time he makes the catch and purposely runs out of bounds with just 4 seconds left on the clock. Pitt is thrilled and sends out the kicking team, Star converts another field goal. The score is now 14-13 still in favor of Azadeshia.

HALFTIME - "Usually you guys are the one's I can count now you guys are playing like a bunch of wussies'' Devonta says as he rips into his defense. " I want some good aggressive but clean defense in the second half, you guys are giving up to many yards thru penalties and letting Azadeshia score on us too much" he adds on to his original statement. "I know you guys can do much better than that, you just need to apply yourselves and remember the drills we went through during practice. Now on 3 we ride out 1... 2.... 3! LET'S GO" exclaims Rousey, the Defensive Coordinator, hoping that her speech might have lite a spark in this defense.

3rd Quarter - It's the kick off to the 2nd half, Osunya is on the field ready to return the ball, if Azadeshia is smart they would resort for a touchback. They kick the ball.... big mistake they decided to test Osunya... he makes the catch runs dodges a few defenders and makes it down to about the 20 yard line in the opposing team's territory. Estevez takes the field happy with the excellent field position that Osunya gave him. The ball is snapped and he makes a pass to Elliot Vaugh, great catch by Vaughn in heavy coverage, he makes the defenders miss and glides his way into the end-zone... TOUCHDOWN! in just the first play of the drive and Star makes the extra point. The score is now 20-14 in favor of Roglonia. Rousey's speech seems to have actually done something because the defense was able to hold down Azadeshia to just another field goal. The score is now 20-17 in favor of Roglonia.

4th Quarter - It's now the two minute warning, Roglonia gave up another field goal earlier in the quarter and now the score is tied 20-20. Estevez now looks to take the lead, he's in a good position but not good enough for Star to kick a field goal. He calls a passing play and he see's the running back Patrick Moore is wide open and makes the pass... it looks like Moore has a perfect path down to the end zone... Unfortunately the cocky running back started too celebrate a little bit too early and Ganesh Bagchi makes the tackle at the 2 yard mark. He's going to be kicking himself for that. However, it's first down, pitt has decided to not call a timeout so he can run down the clock. Pitt radios in a play to Estevez, who seem's a little annoyed by Moore, if Moore scored that touchdown he would have had a 3 touchdown game on his very first game as a starter but he's over it now as he gets his head back in the game and voices out the play to the offense. The center, Jean Claude snaps the ball, Pitt hands it over to Alex Vaughn.... Alex Vaughn powers threw defenders for the TOUCHDOWN! Star makes the extra point and the game is now 27-20 in favor of Roglonia with only a minutes left on the clock.

The Roglonian defense finally shows up for this last drive and makes a 4th down stoppage, Estevez gets the ball back and runs down the clock locking this in as a win for Roglonia. The offense picks up Estevez to celebrate their win. Not bad for this kids first international game, Pitt and Devonta are most certainly thrilled with the outcome.

Another Loss, Unfortunately...
Well, it was fun while it lasted...

Well, I have to say, our doggies gave it all the fight they had, but, with only 6 on the board to the Ministry's 27, the big dog won this fight. It was a sight to see, to be sure: Tackles left and right, Flora actually throwing straight, some simply BEAUTIFUL plays by the Ministry's boys, but, in the end, this one got chalked up for the big dogs. Rightfully so, no mistake about that. You guys played well out there, and you didn't give a centimeter without a fight. Good Game, Main Nation Ministry.

But I guess that goes to show the underdog doesn't always win in real life. The Jagerhunde have got a lot of heart, but it's skill and experience that win games, and our team just hasn't been around long enough to overcome the advantage of a 21st seed in their first international tournament. Like I said in the first few articles, there's always next year, so study hard, train hard, and keep that heart, and maybe you'll do better next year! I'm making my bet now, sports fans: If the Jagerhunde advance to the next round, I will cook and eat my signed Ketschup Kerman bomber jacket. You read right, folks! I'm eating my Admiral Ketschup bomber jacket if our team makes it to the next round!

Now, let's talk about those Ministry tourists, shall we? Serious chaps. Not much joking, and they didn't really seem all that talkative. Not unfriendly, necessarily. They just seem like down-to-business people who were there to see the game and that's it, you know? Maybe we'll get to see why when we go to face them, yeah?

Our own fans, on the other hand... Loving all the love you fans out there were showing at the game! Plenty of hugs and photos (the latter can be found on my Facebook page, for those interested!), and some of you even bought snacks and beers for your favorite sports writer (Thank y'all again, you generous little sadists!). It was fun, being out there on game day with my readers, cheering on our team and tailgating after the match (Shoutout to that Jagerhunde paintjob on the MT-14 in the North lot! Remind me to give you guys a call when my car needs sprucing up!). The bar crawl that night was real, too! Which brings me to today's featured Imbissmeister:

Today's featured Imbissmeister is Katies Kekse, maker of the holy Dreifachdecker Schokoladentraum, a three-layer cookie with six kinds of chocolate, covered in a fudge coating and laced with just a hint of mint and green. They also make some less important, but still scrumptious, types of cookies, and even shortcakes. Tourists, check your country's laws before bringing these treats home, and make sure it's at least a week before your next drug test, those that need to worry about them, before you eat them, but, if you haven't a need, grab some today!

Writing for the Sportler, this has been Eva Kerman wishing you a lucky season!

The Chosen

The prison bus was on the dirt road, as several soldiers were monitoring the forest sector, as they drove. A soldier armed with an assault rifle watched the prisoners closely, as he needed to make sure they weren't trying to do anything dangerous or attempt to escape the bus. For prisoners, the young-lings were confused and scared. Maybe it was they were forced to be taken away from their parents or maybe they would be killed, if they refuse any of the soldier's orders. Richard knew this day was important. This was two days after his birthday, after all. He remembered blowing out the candles, as his parents gave him a new telemonitor device to talk with his friends. Richard didn't believe that him doing the right thing was what got him here, but he began to remember more.

It all started when some soldiers visited the house, where they asked for Richard to come. Richard didn't understand why they want him, but his parents were on the verge of tears. He didn't know if he did anything wrong, but they put a blindfold over him, so he didn't want to ask questions. The rest was hazy. He remembers being forced to wear a white suit. It made him look like an angel. He knew what an angel is, because his neighbor once showed him a strange book that wasn't like the rest he had on his bookshelf. That neighbor seemed to have vanished without a trace. Were they on vacation?

He remembers that the place he was taken to was an interrogation room. They gave him something called "truth serum", to make sure that he didn't lie during the tests they claimed they were conducting. Richard sat at the end of a desk with a large computer in front of him. He looked at the words on the monitor, in front of him to see that it was a pop quiz. Richard remembered why he was here now. His own nation saw that he was smarter than the rest of the kids. He was with only kids smart as him. He remembered getting a high score on the quiz, where several soldiers were waiting for him, outside his room.

Richard did feel a little homesick. His parents probably thought something bad has happened to him. However, Richard noticed the building in front of him, while he was on the bus. It was an orphanage of some sort. Surrounded in fences of barbed wire. Richard tried to ask one of the soldiers, if they were aloud to write a letter to his parents, but the soldier demanded that he stayed silent, their gun butt being ready to melee someone. Richard stayed silent for the reminder of the bus ride, as it was approaching the building.

Their is a collective feeling of uneasiness among the players in this locker room, They know that Taeshan is one of, if not, the best team in this tournament. Taeshan is a nation with a rich history in international football and a very developed football program , one that is probably even decades ahead of that of Roglonia's. The young quarterback Estevez however looks cool, calm, and collected after his big game last week. He impressed many last week when starting for the first time ever for an international match, a match where he scored 2 passing touchdowns and was able being the key player in every other scoring drive. Some of the other players notice the confidence of Estevez and this changes their mood as they run on to the field... at this point most of the nervous feelings is a distant memory to these players as the adredaline begins to pump thru them.

(I will only be RPing key drives)
1st quarter - A very boring quarter, one where both the defenses for the most part dominated. Taeshan had the chance to score early on when their QB got the ball to the end zone but Jason Alonzo made an interception after it was tipped towards his direction by his cousin Gionni, who broke up the pass intended to Angel Herrera. The clear chemistry between these two cousins is crazy and it's starting to involve other players of the secondary. This quarter ended score less with 0-0 however.

2nd Quarter - Estevez was able to get the ball into a good position last quarter, capitalizing off the amazing defensive play made by Gionni and Jason. Esetevez calls a play, it's a rushing play this time, he hands the ball over to Patrick Moore. Moore makes a good play and gets the ball down to the red zone. Estevez, knows the red zone is the tight end Levi's bread and butter so he calls a passing play they've been working on in practice designed especially for Levi, one that they capitalize on last game as well. The play is a success and Levi makes another incredible touchdown catch! The score is now 7-0 after the reliable kicker Star makes another extra point. Devonta is thrilled they were able to get the lead on Taeshan, a team that blew them out at the start of the tournament. Roglonia's defense is able to hold down Taeshan and the quarter ends with Roglonia up by 7.

Half Time - "Good Job out their guys! Especially our Secondary." exclaims Coach Devonta as he motivates his team in the locker room during half time. "One thing I've noticed is that our chemistry is on point this game, The Alzono cousins working together to make an excellent defensive play... as well as the clear connection between Estevez and Levi. I want you guys to keep this chemistry going, it's the only way we can beat a top ranked team like this."

3rd Quarter - The second half kicks off and Taeshan's kick returner(not sure who Taeshan has listed for return duties) gets them into an excellent field position, however Roglonia's defense is back on form and hold them down for 3 downs. Taeshan brings out Martin Xavier and the kicking team, he converts for the field goal the score is now 7-3 still in favor of Roglonia. Estevez and the offense take the field once again after a couple of small yard plays, Estevez launches a deep bullet pass towards Elliot Vaughn. Vaughn takes it down to a good field position, however Taeshan's top notch defense is able to hold them down to 3 downs. Devonta sends the kicking team out and Lex Star, possibly one of the most reliable kickers Roglonia has ever seen, makes another field goal. Score is now 10-3 in favor of Roglonia. The defense now takes the field, Sam Clentimack has a superb drive as he gets the team down to the red zone. He snaps the ball launches it towards Angel Herrera who is in the end zone.... AND IT'S INTERCEPTED AGAIN BY JASON ALONZO! This time Jason has a clear path from coast to coast and makes it from one end zone down to the other for a touchdown! Lex Star again makes the field goal the score is now 17-3 in favor of the underdog Roglonia.

4th Quarter - The defense has been exceptional, possibly playing at the best they've ever played all tournament, they held down Taeshan to nothing this quarter so far. The ball is punted and Osunya makes the catch, he gets stuffed right away in horrible field position. Estevez hopes to make something out of this though. He makes another deep pass to Elliot Vaughn, despite not having any touchdowns Elliot has been playing great this game being targeted 4 times and reeling in all 4 of those catches and has raked up 84 yards. Estevez snaps the ball he makes a pass to Vaughn again who takes it down to the end zone, however their is a flag down at the line of scrimmage. "The Penalty is Holding... Offense #52 10 yard penalty 2nd down" says the head official. Jean Claude snaps the ball, Estevez hands it over to Alex Vaughn who gets stuffed for a loss of 5 yards... Not a good drive at all for this offense it is now 3rd and 25. Estevez looks to make a big play here to convert, the ball is snapped and Estevez looks over at the direction of Elliot... no luck their as Elliot is under deep pressure. He looks over at Steinberg who is wide open and makes the pass, Steinberg runs it down about 15 yards but gets tackled.... it's now 4th and 10 in field goal range. Devonta talks it over with his assistants and decides to send out the kicking team instead of going for it in 4th, he'd rather not risk the chance of a fluke injury. Lex Star is able to convert, the score is now 20-3 with just a few seconds on the clock and no time outs for Taeshan... this game is over and the Underdogs pull the upset victory over the World Champions.

Code: Select all
Quarter        1      2      3        4
Roglonia       0      7      10      3       20
Taeshan       0       0      3       0        3

Coach Devonta gathers his team in the locker room, "I wish I could give this game ball to everyone, you guys all played great with perfect chemistry and made hardly any screw ups against the best team out their. However, I got to give the ball to someone seeing as it's Roglonian tradition and I can't think of any one more deserving of this then Jason Alonzo." Devonta says as he hands the ball over to Jason. Jason is thrilled he hasn't had a game this good since his days in the Roglonian Collegiate program "Thank you coach and thank you to everyone on this team for never giving up even when we face a team that has embarrassed us before, instead of giving up we went out their and got revenge." exclaims Jason as he addresses his team while holding his game ball.

The Chosen Part 2

"Richard. What is on the next card?"
"It's... It's not a card with a symbol. It's a trick question. It's a playing card." Richard was being shocked every time for each answer he got wrong, as they were testing his luck and ability to predict things that can't be known. So far, he has been shocked 6 times right now. He looked at the wall clock, as what seemed like hours drifted by, without notice.
"Richard. Explain what type of playing card?"
"It's a 7 of spades." Richard said, as he tried to figure out what card the person was holding behind a brick wall that separated both rooms. When he held silence over the intercom, he knew he managed to get it right. He let out a sigh of relief anytime he got a correct card right.

"Ok, Richard. What is on the next card?"
"It's...", Richard paused, knowing they were going completely out of the box to test him completely. "It's a card that I have never seen before." On the other side of the wall, a scientist was holding up a tarot card that was The Devil. Tarot cards weren't of harm, however the memetic effects that it brings on the minds of citizens made it a danger. "Very good. You may now be escorted back to your ward." The scientist calmly said in the intercom, as the door to the room where Richard was in was opened by a soldier, who pointed his gun at Richard, while both of them walked back to the ward.

Several cameras were watching all of the boys in the ward, as a camera was watching Richard, as he slept in his bed. Some scientists were observing Richard through a computer screen, as they discussed the importance of the children imprisoned.
"How is Subject 84? The tests has only failed 6 times. You think it's an omen?"
"They all vessels, however when the calling occurs, we don't have the right technology to predict an event."
"Their intelligence is still capable of overcoming the possession."
"If so, would they protect our society? We would have to imprison the one vessel who is possessed at the Compound. The powers they might have will wipe out a possible crowd."
"I need a bloody beer. We need to have the Ministry of Science have us in the food and health division. We would be experiment on splitting beer atoms."
"And have us and probably half of the bloody building will be vaporized in the process. Where did you get your degree?"

Richard was asleep with his mind a blank slate. The ward, where the other boys were dreaming of many things were being undisturbed, as two soldiers were patrolling the room the boys were in. Their shoes were made to be silent to not disturb the boys. Richard began to notice he had a dream appear in his mind. It was a strange dream, where a figure of red appeared, hidden behind some trees and bushes, overlooking the building he was in. The figure sneaked to a secluded area, which they were on a ledge at the same height as the second floor of the building. The figure pulled out some sort of gun, it looked like as they inserted what appeared to be a bullet connected to a string into the barrel, as they aimed it straight at the wall.

Richard opened his eyes, as he thought he heard something hit the wall behind him. Was he in a dream? Reality? He sat up in bed, as a soldier walked up to get him to head back to sleep. That was when Richard felt a strange wave of heat erupted from the wall. His instincts caught up to him, warning him of the danger that was going to appear, as he immediately leaped outta bed and back away from the wall. A red line was beginning to form into a circle on the wall, as two soldiers immediately drawn their guns to the source. "Get the boy away! We got a hostile!", one of the soldiers yelled, as the other held onto Richard, as he tried to radio for more reinforcements. However, all that came out of his radio was static. The result of a temporary EMP attack.

The moment the red circle was finished, an explosion of some sort of smoke filled the ward, as the two soldiers and Richard were enflugued in some sort of smoke. "They using some sort of smoke grenade! Hostile is coming through- ARGH!" The soldier was struck with an arrow that managed to pierce into his body armor. However, it didn't kill him, as he began to feel the effect of the tranquilizer. That was when Richard felt someone grab him. They were of slender and feminine shape, but appeared to have the experience of a trained operative. Richard began to pass out, amid the chaos that was happening. While he was unconscious, he dreamed that he felt to be carried over the air and he felt something was scanning his face.

The Red Morning

Richard felt the sunlight cover his face, as he opened his eyes to find the branches and leaves acting as improvised shade. He was in a forest of some kind. He tried to move his arms, but he felt they have been tied around a tree. He realized he had his back against the tree, as he was in a sitting position. He noticed someone tending to a weapon of some sort. Richard's eyes adjusted to see a crossbow in their hands. He looked at the person to see it was a girl in their late 10's or early 20's. A schoolgirl? He even recognized the school uniform. "Where am I? What am I doing here?"

"Shh. Calm down and stay quiet. The drones have currently passed, but they may scout the area again." The schoolgirl explained, calmly as she stood up.
Image
"I... I don't understand."
"I came to find the ones who were spared. I need you to cooperate."
"Spared? But, I thought I was already spared?"
"No. Your parents that you had. Do you remember anything on late November to December 20XX?"
"What does that got to do with anything?"
"Your real name is Richard Grendel. You were discovered and forced into having adoptive parents after they administrated amnesics."
"Richard Grendal? If that's my real name, then what's yours?"

The schoolgirl sighed, knowing that a question like that was going to be brought up.
"My name is Keller Harrington. If you know that name, it belonged to the same man who is both a monster and my father." She said with some tension in her voice.

Приднестровская Гридиронная Суперлига
PRIDNESTROVIAN GRIDIRON SUPER LEAGUE

SEASON II RECAP

Hello yet again, friends and fellow fans in gridiron. Welcome to yet another edition of the Pridnestrovian Gridiron Super League Season 2 recap. We've already gone through five days of games, so why should we stop now? We've got three more matchdays ahead of us, so let's get to recapping them already.

MATCHDAY SIX
Macaresti Gladiators 3 0 10 7 20
CSKA Tiraspol 3 0 7 3 13

Rheinburg Spartans 3 6 3 0 12
Novonikolaysk Sharks 0 0 3 6 9

Yeralenko Torpedoes 0 3 7 3 13
Kesselburger Kestrels 6 14 0 10 30

Antakya Hawks 0 3 0 14 17
Admiral Novorossiysk 21 3 6 7 37

Sheriff Tiraspol 0 0 0 10 10
Bratsk Dolphins 0 14 3 0 17

More bad news for CSKA fans like myself: we've lost another game! We've lost another game! We are like the gift that keeps on giving! And, contrary to what I've said in the preview, the Gladiators of Macaresti look more and more like the real thing, at least whenever they play against the big teams like Admiral and now CSKA. Once again, it was the connection between Anastas Yermolenko and Faina Drees which saw the Gladiators through to victory over the Army Team, who thought that they had managed to force another overtime against the Gladiators through Kaspar Martinov's 36-yard field goal, but the Gladiators were no longer interested in winning games in overtime. No, they've moved on to winning games in regulation!

In other news, Admiral Novorossiysk have not only gotten back to winning ways but they've gone about it in such dominating fashion that you would wonder if someone had kidnapped the real players for the first few weeks of the season and replaced them with less skilled and talented facsimiles. But three touchdowns in the first quarter! Three touchdowns! Granted, one of them was a pick-six on the part of Fyodor Rokanov, but still, three touchdowns in one quarter is unbelievable! It's surely a sign that the game is going to go your way if you're the team who scored the aforementioned three touchdowns, and it's a sign that you have been forsaken if you're on the team at the other end of those three touchdowns.

MATCHDAY SEVEN
Admiral Novorossiysk 7 3 0 3 13
Sheriff Tiraspol 3 3 0 10 16

Kesselburger Kestrels 7 0 3 3 13
Antakya Hawks 7 3 3 3 16

Novonikolaysk Sharks 7 10 7 0 24

Yeralenko Torpedoes 0 0 6 0 6

CSKA Tiraspol 0 10 10 7 27
Rheinburg Spartans 0 3 14 3 20

Dinamo Bender 3 10 0 3 16
Macaresti Gladiators 3 3 7 0 13

Matchday Seven of Season 2 of the PGSL sees the two expansion teams, Antakya and Kesselburg, meeting for the first time in their respective histories. It was hyped by the media, who presented it as two aspiring titans marching to the field of battle, hoping to prove that they are the ones to be reckoned with this season. And, in reality, it was a bit of a disappointment. The action really took place all in the first quarter, and from the second quarter onwards it became a field goal contest, a contest which Antakya's Timon Evstafiev eventually won by kicking a 51-yard in the dying seconds of the game to win it all for the Hawks. Yes, people will be real afraid of the Antakya Hawks and their special teams units now! (insert evil maniacal laugh here)

Things are picking up a bit for the other teams, though, but most especially CSKA Tiraspol, who finally got back into the winning habit with a 27-20 win over the Rheinburg Spartans. It was yet again the Medvedev twins (Andrey Nikitich and Demyan Nikitich) who were responsible in winning this game for the Army Team, who thought that they might have to endure another game going to overtime when Klaus Oldenburg scored a 30-yard field goal with just a minute left to go on the game clock in the fourth quarter. Did I mention that I'm a fan of CSKA Tiraspol?

One observation about this matchday though: what's up with all the 16-13 scorelines? Is there some kind of random number god out there who decided that on that day she liked the numbers 16 and 13 so much that three games must absolutely have those numbers as their final scores? We'll never know.

MATCHDAY EIGHT
Rheinburg Spartans 0 0 0 7 7
Dinamo Bender 10 0 7 3 20

Yeralenko Torpedoes 3 3 10 3 19
CSKA Tiraspol 6 10 3 6 25

Antakya Hawks 0 3 10 3 16
Novonikolaysk Sharks 0 10 3 10 23

Sheriff Tiraspol 0 6 6 3 15

Kesselburger Kestrels 0 7 3 0 10

Bratsk Dolphins 0 3 10 7 20
Admiral Novorossiysk 14 7 0 10 31

There must come a point in every team's history where they have to stop and think about what's going wrong for them. Surely the Yeralenko Torpedoes must go through this introspection now, as things are simply not falling into place for them. Never mind that they lost against a CSKA Tiraspol team that deserved to win (although I have to admit that maybe the Army Team's performance did not warrant the result that they eventually got); everyone must surely be feeling sorry for the Torpedoes and their abysmal performances this season. Well, maybe everyone except for the people of Sonolovichyrevko. They submitted a bid for a gridiron team but were deferred to a future season while Yeralenko's bid was immediately accepted by the league. Sonolovich fans must surely be bathing in schadenfreude now because Yeralenko are literally the only team without a win at this point in the season. A few Yeralenko fans still have a few choice words to say to their rivals in Rivymiyitevko though, and that is "wait until it's your team that goes 0-7". I don't know if that will actually happen, but anything's possible in the world of gridiron football, so who knows?

World Bowl XXXV Bonus! Group Stage Matchday Six
Pridnestrovia 0 7 10 10 27
Azadeshia 3 0 7 0 10

And now for some more World Bowl fun once again! Once again we play against Azadeshia, and this time we play host to them at the New Army Stadium. And once again, our Red Army dominated the visitors, although in the first quarter it didn't look that way as Azadeshia took the lead in their first possession through a 30-yard field goal from their kicker who... does not exist, at least according to the official Azadeshia roster or the one posted on the official World Bowl site. Oh, well. The man definitely exists physically, since he kicked the field goal, but as far as the Azadeshis are concerned, he is a non-entity. I hope that isn't the start to a darker path for the people and nation of Azadeshia. I've come to like them and their culture, after all.

Starting from the second quarter though, the game turned into the Stan Serban Show. First on the menu was a touchdown pass to Vyacheslav Kozel in the second quarter, a handoff to Nazariy Zelenko for a 2-yard TD rush in the third, and then another pass to Kozel, this time from 20 yards away, to completely seal the deal over the game and put Pridnestrovia in second place in Group 3, behind defending World Bowl champs Taeshan on only points difference. Bhima Nan did score a touchdown for the Azadeshis in the third quarter, but any chance of a comeback for the Azadeshis came to a crashing end thanks to Pridnestrovia's superb disciplined defense.

That does it for me and for the recap of the second season of the PGSL. Expect even more to come, and along with it surprises, twists and turns, and all-out unexpected shit from the world of the Pridnestrovian Gridiron Super League. До свидания.
