Cricket generally holds more interest over here than baseball (I vouch for that cause cricket is my fav sport).

Cassie, you should do an optional sonnet writing contest for people to participate in on the break day between the last day of the preliminary round and the first day of the playoffs. A lot of times hosts will do something like that on that day, and it is always fun when there is a little contest on the off day.

Provided it doesn't impact RP Bonus (i.e. not doing it won't hurt you), then that's fine.

Supposed to be making a good comeback this time around, and instead I find myself off to the worse start, no thanks to my lack of RPing. My apologies to my group mates for my lack of involvement, I've had to lodge ridiculous work hours the last week and haven't had time, but expect a fiercer competition from us for the rest of this Classic! ;)

I am going to decline this suggestion, but if people want to do something like this, that is fine. I have found that adding "challenges" will get 1-2 nations involved, but otherwise don't add that much.

Don't worry, our group appears to be very tough. Everyone is struggling in the middle.

It's interesting how your luck in the group draw can affect the course of the tournament. I got lucky in being put in a group that is relatively manageable for me, not getting pitted against any top-ranked teams that RP regularly. But from a story-building point of view, it might be fun if there were more RPs in my group besides mine and Oscioru's.

Anyway, I worked 10 hours yesterday and didn't start on an RP post for the Sherpa Empire last night, so I dunno how much, if anything, I am going to be posting today. Probably will throw together at least something.

That's the eternal struggle, really. If nobody in your group RPs, then it's more likely you'll be able to advance. But when nobody in your group RPs, it's less fun and there's no room for collaboration (which is one of the most fun things to do for sports RPs). It's either or.

The group stage is over, and now its playoff time. Playoff matchups are posted! Good luck!
I realize I still have to update information about the stadiums. I'll get to that tomorrow, which is an off day.

Just realized when I saw the results that I misidentified my MD28 opponent in my RP today. I was going to go back and correct that error but on second thought I think it'll be more interesting to just pretend I did that on purpose and roll with it as an IC mistake by the Sporting World journalist. ;)

Well... if I didn't lose against an unranked team who didn't post a roster on MD30, i'd be seeded 7th instead of 10th.

But funnily, if I beat Maklohi Vai and the winner between Beepee and West Phoenicia, i'll be facing Newmanistan again!

Just noticed I made an error with sorting the group winner table. The seedings for Equestrian States and Banija were mixed up. That is now fixed.

It goes according to the permissions of the "home team", or team batting in the bottom half of the inning. For the first round, it will be at the discretion of the better seed in games 1 and 3.

I've seen the "Nova Anglicana will choke in the playoffs" stuff from Newmanistan, and I have to say, you're probably right. I don't think I'm going to be able to RP beyond the Round of 16, or at least limited in my ability. So if I make to the quarterfinals, I'll probably lose. It's a meme at this point, so I might as well lean into it, right?
