Homosexual acts have always been illegal here. Legal marriage can only occur b/n a man & a woman, & no "civil partnerships" or any such extra-marital sexual relationships are recognized. Unmarried people are forbidden form adopting children.

Only two legal genders are recognized: male & female. People are assigned "male" or "female" based on their primary sex characteristics, or "N/A" if they are intersex. These cannot be legally changed unless one can prove the the doctor was somehow mistaken (as of yet, no one has been able to do so). "Sex change" operations are illegal & do not change one's legal gender.

Kabzeel, meaning "God's Gathering" in hebrew, is a federal, dominant-party, socialist(non-marxist)constitutional monarchy with a rich Jewish heritage dating back to it's creation in 845 CE. Today, it spans almost the entirety of Eastern Europe and is the largest predominately Jewish and female-led state in the world as it follows the doctrine of "Royal Socialism", a paternalistic conservative ideology with an emphasis on socialization, social ownership, and conservative feminism. Its relationship with Israel is noticeably rocky, but this is due to the ongoing complications between Kabzeelian and Israeli Zionism.

Homosexuality and transsexuality are both crimes in Transwell, punishable by five years imprisonment. Homosexuals and transgender individuals may be forced to undergo various medical "cures" while imprisoned, including shock therapy and "sexual re-education."

Pretty bad. Akara, like most African countries, has banned homosexuality. If an Alarm citizen is caught committing homosexual acts or promoting homosexuality they can be fined or even jailed. While the police don't go house to house checking for gays, homosexual PDA is an easy way to get arrested.Prominent gay rights activists have it much worse, and are often tracked and monitored by the secret police, with one activist supposedly being killed in 2008. However, lesser known activists are often able to get away with their activism if their in large protests, although for the few that have happened, many protesters were still beaten and arrested by the police. Although the current Emperor has taken a note liberal approach to homosexuality, decreeing that they no longer has to register as sex offenders, he's stated that there is little to no possibility of it being legalized under his rule.

The Free Kingdom Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to reiterate, once again, that it views itself as one of the most LGBT-friendly societies in the world. (Which is not surprising, given how civilized we generally are).

The Free Kingdom protects the freedom of LGBT individuals in the following ways:

1. A robust legal system, protecting LGBT individuals from discrimination by the state.
2. Laws protecting the rights of LGBT individuals to marry (not only in regular two-partner marriages, but also in polyamorous and other structures, such as a line marriage).
3. The Gender Liberty Act protects the rights of individuals to their choice of gender designation in all official documentation by the Free Kingdom government. Similar verbiage has been reiterated in several local and state jurisdictions throughout the Free Kingdom.
4. The Free Kingdom is engaged in international cooperation with a range of countries to maintain the Aristogeiton and Harmodius training center, training armed LGBT activists to resist terrorism and anti-LGBT violence around the world.
5. The Free Kingdom is engaged in combat operations alongside Homofront Hiluxia, in order to defeat the Qeslarian terrorist organization.

That is all.

Technically, homosexuality was legalized upon the advent of the 1992 Constitution. Congress has been making moves to amend the constitution and outlaw this.

  • Same-sex marriage is not legally recognized, however civil partnerships between same-sex couples provide the legal / social benefits of marriage.
  • Gay, lesbian and bisexual sexual activities are legal among consenting adults.
  • Gay, lesbian and bisexual individuals may serve without discrimination in the military, federal services and local governments.
  • Transgenderism is considered a mental disorder and is not legally recognized. "Male" and "Female" are the only recognized genders.

(For context, in Aldina's alternate timeline it's still 1925.)

Homosexuality has been decriminalized in Aldina since the 1814 penal code reforms. Same-sex marriages are still not recognized, but then the Aldish government barely recognizes the concept of marriage anyway.

Gender dysphoria is considered a serious medical disorder under the Aldish public health system. Sex reassignment surgery is available at no charge (with a psychiatrist's recommendation) in any state hospital, if desired. Having one's legal gender changed is a bit of a bureaucratic fuss (and if there's one thing the Empire does really well, it's bureaucratic fusses), but is not overly different from any other clerical/administrative process.

We have no explicit laws on LGBT matters, as we believe it's best for the communities to decide how to deal with them. Under our constitution, citizens are free to do as they please on their own private property, so long as they don't harm another person or their property. Social attitudes float in between tolerance and acceptance.

In communities controlled by The Silver Wolves, it is generally discouraged to express or display such proclivities in public, with respect to one's personal business (ie. two guys/girls on a date in the town are just seen as "friends hanging out" until they do/say something that suggests otherwise). Under the free association laws of our constitution, those appearing as same-sex couples are more likely to be denied entry/residence into these communities (most gay people here just claim property as a single person and just sneak around at night, if they don't just move somewhere else). The general consensus is "as long as they work hard and advance our people, they can do whatever in their own home and we won't ask questions".

In communities operating under The Liberty Guard, attitudes are much more relaxed and friendly. Same-sex couples are allowed to claim property together, and in such cases, partners openly refer to each other as their husband/wife. PDA is not seen as any more of an issue than if it were a straight couple. While there is no outright "celebration" of the gay population or how they are treated here, they are seen as neighbors and members of the community to be treated with the same respect as any other.

The "T" in LGBT is a separate, and more touchy issue, with nearly all transgender individuals keeping to the larger cities due to cultural norms and free association.

Same-sex relationships & sexual activity between two consenting adults have been legal since the adoption of the 1991 Constitution, however, prosecutions for such were rare after the 1960s, with an estimated 15-20 total prosecutions in the period between 1968 and 1988.

The Federal Government has recognised same-sex domestic partnerships since 2011, however, registered civil unions and marriages have not been recognised in any part of the country to date. Two state-level court contests for the allowance of gay marriage have occurred, in 2012 and 2017, both subsequently failing.

No explicit laws banning homosexual service in the military have ever existed. Since 2011, LGBT people have been protected under some hate crime laws, and this was extended to all hate crime laws in 2017. Gender reassignment was legalised and transgender people recognised by the government in 2016. As of now, same-sex couples may not adopt children, however, a change to this law has been proposed.

While significant progress on LGBT rights has been made in recent years, the overall attitude towards homosexuality and transgenderism in New Ex Patrian society remains negative, with a survey asking whether Ex Patrians thought homosexuality was immoral, 55% answered yes, 29% answered no, and 16% held no opinion.

Since marriage control has been abolished and the idea of free marriage was laid out in the Articles of Advancement, the LGBT community can freely marry whomever they want since our establishment in 2000. Homosexuals and bisexuals are seen as humans, and so are transgender people. However, transgenderism is still classified by the Court of Scientists as a mental disorder (Gender dysphoria) and researchers are looking into new ways to treat it.
