United Malayan Territories:
I've decided to make a poll on the upcoming Malaysian General Election, to see which party/coalition has the most popular support. The date for the election has not yet been decided, but will be held within 2017/18.
I've decided to vote for the four-party coalition, Pakatan Harapan, because I am very unsatisfied with the current corrupt ways of the governing party, Barisan Nasional, ever since I've entered the political arena.
What are your thoughts? Who will you vote for this time?
Also, a general summary of the parties in the election for those who aren't from Malaysia.
Barisan Nasional
Barisan Nasional (National Front) is the current governing party in Malaysia. They are a right-wing political party in Malaysia that was founded in 1973 as a coalition of right-wing and center parties. In state level, it is also the largest party in the 10 of 13 state legislative assemblies of Malaysia. The party is based on the principles of Malay Nationalism and Conservatism. The party garners its support mostly from rural areas in Malaysia. However, they were known for many corruption cases, with the most recent and biggest case, 1MDB.
Pakatan Harapan
Pakatan Harapan (Coalition of Hope) is the main opposition coalition in Malaysia, consisting of four parties. The coalition focuses on a centre-left position in the political spectrum. The coalition is also the largest party in two state legislative assemblies, Selangor and Pulau Pinang. The coalition has a rather liberal and secular stance, with also being partially socialist. The coalition gains support from urban areas, Chinese ethnics, and the younger voters in Malaysia.
Gagasan Sejahtera
Gagasan Sejahtera (Harmonious Might) is a coalition of Islamist parties in Malaysia, mainly monopolized by the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS). The coalition has a right-wing stance and is mainly based on Conservatism and Islamism. The coalition controls one state legislative assembly, Kelantan. The coalition gains its support from the elderly and religious voters in rural parts of Malaysia.
If I lived in Malaysia and registered to vote, I'd vote for Gagasan Sejahtera. They are an Islamist group that wants to secure the rights of Muslims and want to bring Malaysia back to Al-Islam. May Allah (SWT) bless and may Allah (SWT) help them to do right according to the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah, aameen. I hope they win!
But what do y'all think, NSG? Who would you vote for? If you live in Malaysia, who are you voting for?
