Quite poor (living standards have regressed a few decades) but generally has a lot of "stuff" (lots of earlyish cold war era military equipment and part of the old nuclear stockpile. Don't mind the rest of the stockpile, that might be missing). Grimly totalitarian and hostile to most nations.

Comrade, we shall export the revolution once more. The capitalists have failed to support the people, with an open market we were subject to the crisis. But now that the revolution has been restored we shall lead the people once more.

Indeed, only totalist government directives will drive the economy back into shape. This time we shall use computers to help us centrally plan!

Indeed, it shall be beneficial but of course I have to deal with the Nords for Leningrad. As well as my internal struggle of both population and of the party. Putin is planning you know.

Any sort of expansionism in Europe, on the other hand, pretty much requires one to abandon any notion of heritage-centric national identity.

Un-usable due to disrepair, I imagine. High-technology weapons are incredibly high-maintenance as well and the 2000 British nuclear stockpile is considerably more advanced than the "put two halves together for big boom" bombs of the mid-20th Century.

Feels good to be China. If the highly impoverished and isolated PRC of the 1960s could put together a crude fusion bomb, the new PRC should be as well.
China’s cheap and somewhat low tech produce might be kinda useless in a modern scenario, but in a situation like this, old T-64s and AK-47s are rather nice to have around.
