Vexing VAT

Postby Laktibradia » Fri Nov 03, 2017 6:07 pm

In the Issue "Vexing VAT" I clicked the option that would get rid of VAT, but instead it somehow increased my VAT.

This is surely a bug. And an annoying one.

The effect line you got suggests that you did indeed choose the option to get rid of VAT.

You may, however, have seen your Taxation stat go up as a result. This is because the only form of taxation that the NationStates's game model is currently able to recognize is income tax. Therefore, there is no good way to represent an abolition of VAT in the current model - the editors could have chosen to code it as reducing taxation (since you're eliminating one kind of tax, namely VAT), or as increasing taxation (since, now you're earning less money from VAT, you need to compensate by raising more money from other types of tax, like income tax, which the game actually models). The editors chose the latter.

It's not, it's the effect line of abolishing it. I took that option too.

I'm sorry, are "get rid of" and "abolish" not synonyms in your dialect of English?

This issue was suposed to cut taxes and endded up increasing them.
Is not 'bugged', is badly coded, i hope they fix this.

Please don’t gravedig old topics.

The issue has been debated to death, there’s an explanation of why it increased taxes in this thread. It’s not getting recoded.
