About Us

Image

You deserve to know who we are before you make a purchase from us.

A-Tel rose from humble beginnings. In owner TJ Toaster's garage, the young robot frequently tinkered with electronics and created a phone. However, it was not a very good phone. Thus, starting in 1998, A-Tel was established by Mr. Toaster to provide the everyman / everywoman with the perfect phone and a hook-up to match. We don't take risks, but instead wade into the waters of uncertainty in order to provide innovative solutions to common problems. For example--how many times have you dropped your laptop and broken it? If you are human (especially a clumsy human), probably a lot. This led A-Tel owner TJ Toaster to develop and patent FlexTec technology in 2000. FlexTec is a plastic-titanium hybrid material that is extremely resistant to physical damage. As TJ himself put it, "our Bloakia phone could have survived a nuclear fallout with gusto." The Blokia had lackluster performance and was removed from the market.

A-Tel, 1998.

Between 1999 and 2004, A-Tel expanded into national prominence. Their initial fleet of 24 vehicles set up hundreds of connections in their first three years of operations. By 2000, the company had a fleet of 63 vehicles and had set up 1095 connections. A massive investment from a now-defunct tech company in Carcerum led to significant expansions into the retail market. Over the course of the early millennium, one hundred A-Tel stores were opened nationally, employing over 2000 store associates, who in turn connected tens of thousands of citizens across Killer Toasters Province.

The Akimbo, A-Tel's most successful and best-selling product, was created in 2014. It is a flexible smart pad that could be pulled, bent and dropped without any consequences. The Akimbo became the fastest-selling smart tablet in the nation among the wealthy, with over $10 million ND in sales. Later, A-Tel introduced less-expensive analogues to the Akimbo so that middle-class families could afford it. They were given a limited and exclusive release, and it sold out in days, leaving A-Tel with well over one billion in sales revenue. Today, Akimbo analogs like the WartHog have become rare antiques, and are coveted at auctionhouses in Killer Toasters.

2014 to 2017 was an age of development and perfection of the line of A-Tech products. Two smartphones -- the Quickie and the OneTouch -- were moderately successful. A-Tel also expanded into corporate telecommunications, establishing a steady customer list of various industries including bars, restaurants and hospitals. The ACME Corporation, a long-time corporate partner and investor, acquired A-Tel in 2018

The start of this quarter in 2018 marked a brand new cross-promotion / partnership with SWIFT smart phones, which lead to the development of the NDure Computers line. A-Tel is in the process of creating many of the largest 5G optical systems in the world. The very first 5G networks were created in Carcerum, East Apikai and Poggers.

Today, A-Tel is one of the world's largest telecomms providers, proudly franchising 250 retail locations.

The A-Tech Akimbo is the single most flexible and durable tablet ever created in ACME's laboratories. We tossed it down the stairs, doused it in petrol, lit it on fire, and ran it over with a 4200 pound car. Then we flooded it with water. It still worked like new. The secret is the well-insulated electronics as well as the tough outer plating built from our patented FlexTec technology. Though the Akimbo does not come cheap, it is practically a life-long investment.

The Quickie is for the professional on the go. The screen can be adjusted down in order to reduce radiation sickness, while the small dimensions make it sleek and discrete. The Quickie has a 3-in-1 function as a programmable car key, a pager, and a smartphone. The inexpensive nature of the Quickie means that it was built with a battery that does not last as long, but its many features and ease-of-use make it the professional's choice. The Li-Ti battery can recharge in as little as 15 seconds.

A-Tel, in partnership with ACME Technologies, has developed one of the galaxy's first services for providing nations with a full national telecomms service: the National Network Service (NNS). A-Tel's first national 5G network began in East Apikai in 2018, at a cost of over $1.4 billion - and that was with existing optic line infrastructure! Shortly thereafter, we started work on the largest 5G network the company has ever created in Imperial Ame Ran, in a deal worth $105B. A-Tel's NNS has grown quickly to serve 711 million connections across the planet.

A-Tel Invests $500 Million in Swift Devices
Product development and merchandising deals are both on the table

A-Tel founder TJ Toaster today announced a $500M investment into Swift, a Techanerean company. The company intends to combine the FlexTec plasteel in their A-Tech® Akimbo with Swift®'s shatter-resistant glass found in its Bit line of products. This will produce tremendously endurable consumer electronics.

"These new electronics will be extremely resistant, to the point of being indestructible to everyday damage", said A-Tel founder TJ Toaster.

"This will have applications not only for consumers, but also for the AI and machines who live in The Federation. It may even have defense applications.

ACME Technologies, A-Tel's parent company, will be arranging a large company soiree on the 21st to celebrate the arrangement between A-Tel and Swift. The list of invitees will include ACME's current corporate partners, Swift's board of directors, and a smattering of big-name corporate and government personalities.

The location of the soiree is to be decided in a future press release.

A formal contract signing between A-Tel and Swift is expected to take place this week.

Swift devices are being shipped out across A-Tel's 104 retail locations, and are expected to arrive by the 16th.

Dear Secretary Rhodes
Department of the Interior - East Apikai

Your contract is highly unique, and intrigued our board of directors in its technical applications.

We are happy to accommodate a nation-wide phone service in East Apikai--the first, but certainly not the last, of its kind.

We performed extensive market research into comparable services, the desired coverage, the integrity of your existing MD5# optical lines, and East Apikai itself. The population density of your country is such that most people with cell phones live in major cities, where there are existing signals, towers and optical lines. This works strongly in your favor.

We believe that, by mapping out East Apikai into 10 evenly-sized coverage zones, we could provide both commercial as well as residential services to the entire country. The people currently living in Viribus will receive the current 977 telephone code, and the nine other areas in East Apikai would be assigned one of 9 other area codes. The new area codes are free for your country to choose.

A-Tel will cover the costs of opening 20 initial A-Tel locations to handle service inquiries. This is critical, as we would like to be able to fix any service interruptions as quickly as possible. Assuming you are buying one Quickie cellphone for every person in the country to go along with the service, we would require an investment of $1.4 billion. This would provide unlimited data, services, and a Quickie cell phone for each and every person living in your country. We will revamp and improve all optical lines to run 5G service (5G is the new standard, according to our research) and we will also cover any "contingent costs", such as mechanic fees and the operating costs for the stores. Each phone would be under a simple replacement plan.

There would be a monthly bill of $1 million (100,000 x 10 coverage regions), which we could prorate down to $10 million per year.

Our lawyer, Mr. Filch, has drawn up a summary of the contract details.

Contract Summary - Government of East Apikai / A-Tel Mobile Telecommunications

  • East Apikai will draw up ten (10) coverage areas with area codes. Viribus shall have the area code 977.
  • East Apikai pays $1.4B for 70 million Quickie cellphones (heavily discounted)
  • East Apikai pays $1 million per month ($100,000 x 10 coverage areas).
  • A-Tel will administer a Diamond-level Corporate Service Plan for each of the 10 coverage areas.
  • A-Tel will open 20 retail locations in East Apikai at no charge. A-Tel will retain profits on services and products sold in the stores.
  • A-Tel will upgrade East Apikai's optical lines to 5G.
  • A-Tel will provide East Apikai with 70 million Quickie cell phones--one for each (census) citizen.
  • A-Tel will cover all repairs, contingent costs, and operating costs for the A-Tel retail locations.
  • A-Tel will receive any profits gained from the 20 stores.

If these terms are agreeable, please provide your digital signature.

If you are unhappy with these terms, we would be happy to negotiate further.

Dear Mr. Bertmann
CFO - Hex Holdings

We are happy to inform you that your application has been APPROVED for two (2) retail locations in Manila and Cebu respectively. A-Tel has always been a highly competitive brand, and we are happy to test our merits against other mobile shops in the two malls.

2% of the profits is a perfectly reasonable tax on services. You have our permission to go through with that arrangement.

Mr. Toaster's attention was piqued from one of your subsidiaries called "InterTech". He will be sending a telegram shortly.

Congratulations on your new stores,

This contract is, indeed, above and beyond our initial expectations. The total cost is, in fact, well below what was initially allocated for the project. We are very happy to bring this contract back to our nation. We cannot thank you enough--with this contract, A-Tel Mobile and the Free Republic blaze a path for the future, a future with a little less lack.

We thank you for your business with us.

Thank you very much,

Dear Mr. Bertmann

A-Tel Purchases Vietminh-based Company InterTech
InterTech will operate under the A-Tech brand

In the midst of turmoil in the Toasters province, positive things can happen.

A deal with the country of Vietminh came out better than expected for all of us here at A-Tel. Bargaining resulted in a large purchase of A-Tel phones and tablets, the construction of an A-Tel Commercial Center in Vietminh's capital, and the purchase of InterTech from the Vietminhese government.

We are now offering a brand new phone and a brand new laptop, the Gala and the Connect. These are a homage to InterTech's previous designs. We welcome these new InterTech customers with open arms, and hope that our services can match and exceed the ones they previously received.

A-Tel Mobile is a premium telecommunications provider servicing homes, mobile phones, businesses, and commercial centers. We have over 100 retail locations in the Federation of Killer Toasters and are rapidly expanding internationally.

IC: The civilians of West Guam are really looking forward to the possibility of a new massive commercial center in the middle of the nation's capital!! What size building and other specifications would A-Tel like for this mall?

OOC: Is there any form I should be filling out for this?

I see that your partner Swift Technologies has already put the commercial center in their list of the stores that sell that products. Does that mean that this idea has been approved by you?

RE: A-Tel Commerce Center, West Guam

Myself and the board of directors of ACME Technologies fully approve of the A-Tel Commerce Center project in West Guam. I am willing to personally invest up to $300 million, and ACME is also willing to invest several million.

As far as specific dimensions and construction materials, I wouldn't be able to give any guidance, as it is outside my area of expertise. However, I suggest that it be operated as a family-friendly location. Encourage visitors to stay. Place some indoor amusement rides and seek out family restaurants. I would also leave quite some deal of room for customers of a corporate persuasion: we recommend putting in a lounge. The mall can be as large or as small as you would like.

I suggest that we hold a public bid / auction for the construction contract, seeking out different designs.

Are there cities other than "Ho Chi Kitty Man" where we can place the location? Unfortunately, the name of your capital translates very poorly in Carcerum's indigenous languages. One of the indigenous executives said that it translates to, "Red Goat Pee".

The commerce center's manager (OOC: you) would have free reign over how to run the location. Recent events in our country, as well as a number of contractual obligations, prevent us from managing the commerce center directly. However, we will happily advise and invest.

Let us know how much of an investment would be needed, and if you would like us to formulate a logo design.

Congratulations, and cheers to a great partnership!

Sincerely,

TJ Toaster
President, A-Tel Mobile Telecommunications

(OOC: You are free to proceed however you'd like with the A-Tel Commerce Center i.e. making threads and such)

Dear President Toaster,

I believe $300,000,000 will be enough from your side. That is because we are actively trying to revitalize our large commercial district in our nation's capital.

About the name of our nation's capital, Ho Chi Man Kitty, I have never heard of that translation. As an alternative to Ho Chi Man Kitty, I could suggest Guam City in Haguan Province. It is a bustling city, nowhere near the size of our nation's capital of course, but it has a grand population that is in need of new cellular devices.

I am totally open to ordering the construction of a lounge and whatever other specifications that you ask for.

I very much look forward to partnering with your company as I believe that it will benefit both your company and my nation,
Henry Hollingsworth, Secretary of the Department of the Interior of West Guam
