Y'mean like the type the 2nd amendment is to help protect against in its simplistic lil way, against threats both domestic and foriegn?

I mean, one of the parts about the 2nd amendment was to encourage comepancy in firearms-handling so people don't negligently-discharge their own service-pistool into their own foot... or shoot a gun in a changing room "to see if it was real"... CMP got its start to encourage people to dump the popular lever-action deer-hunting rifle of Civil-war era design in favor of bolt and semi-auto actions that were becoming vogue in the turn of the century.

CMP came up with IDPA and 3-gun competitions precisely to get competition-shooters to boost their effective rates of fire prior to service in the Army, should they be drafted or choose to volunteer... or volunteer their services to train other militaries such as Instructor Zero providing training to forces in the Philipean Marines fighting ISIS in Marawi and forces Paraguay in Mali.

I’d consider this a separate issue from gun violence in that we’d have to tackle in a different way. Improving both police policy and training would be a good step, as well as helping repair relations between them and the communities they patrol. Recruiting more officers from these communities and putting a bigger emphasis on deescalation techniques would go a long way. In the long run, ending the War on Drugs would also help in poorer communities.
