Forest State wrote:The door finally opened after Sari did her work attacking the locks with darkness, and even though the doors here were some of the strongest that Beatrice had seen, the darkness did its job and burned the mechanism within. When they stepped outside the door, they found Stormbringer approaching, and asking for instructions. There were others that gathered, too. “Moving through here hall by hall is going to take too long. I’m not sure what happened, but it seems to be downstairs on one of the lower floors… We’ll head to the command room and ask if they have any more info on what the hell is going on,” Beatrice said, before sighing. “But I don’t have my shield, or any other parts of my costume right now. If someone could get it from the repair shop downstairs-”
An announcement came over the intercom system again, cutting through the noise of the klaxons that were still blaring through the building. “It appears that Guardians HQ is under attack. A high speed projectile has impacted the side of the building and there are currently fires somewhere around the middle floors. All costumed Guardians members are expected to report to the perimeter and watch for a follow up attack. Everyone else is advised to stay in the dormitory area and wait for further instructions,” the voice said. “Thank you for your cooperation.”
But Sari wasn’t really listening to that, because she was focused on the person that pointed a gun at her. “We’re on the same side right now, ya slag. Pick a fight with me if you feel like it, but don’t blame me when you get in trouble for ignoring the orders and everything else that’s going on right now,” she snapped.
Beatrice turned to both of them. “There isn’t time to argue. Let’s go, everyone. To the perimeter, and we’ll help the others in making sure there isn’t a follow up attack. But be ready for a fight, because I have the feeling that this wasn’t just one incident…”***
At the perimeter, it was soon revealed that Captain Canada had been right. There were multiple flashes, and people began to teleport in just outside of the range of the HQ’s defense systems, which included countermeasures against teleporters. First, there was a woman in black who seemed to be the one behind the teleportation. Then there was Rush, the leader of the Collective, and other Collective operatives including Skull, the bone based villain that had split the shield of Captain Canada, and The Hammer, a villain that carried a noticeably large war hammer in addition to having the massive muscles required to lift it.
“They don’t think we’re going to walk straight through the front door. So we’re going to walk through the front door, and we’re going to do it with confidence,” said Rush, nodding towards his group and twirling his pistol in the direction he wanted them to move. If there was any fear on his part, he wasn’t showing it. But then again, that wasn’t surprising. It was a central part of his act, really.
“I don’t see anyone… I’m ready to smash something, though,” said The Hammer.
“Soon,” remarked Skull. “I think I can see them coming now…”
