That’s a matter of degree of stupidity, in all fairness.

Fair enough. The only thing that could prevent that is better education, which in fairness is something we try to do when accidents that result in loads of deaths happen.

Which is exactly the sort of legislation I appose, because instead of trying to target those who use guns illegally you blanket hit everyone in the hope that it will reduce gun violence in general. You can actually get a pretty good idea of who is likely to commit a gun crimes by looking at the statistics.

People should refute the data not the source, especially if their argument against the source is where it accepts money from. Yes I am aware that the Crime Prevention Research Center is right leaning, in that they release reports that are pro gun. There are a number of organizations that do the opposite, and their research is often used both here and in the media.

Now as to other sources about the concentration of gun crime in geographic areas. Sure have some sources. Homicides tend be be very geographically centered on specific portions of cities, this sin't something that is really debatable as basically everyone agrees on it. A lot of people just don't understand what it means. Instead of focusing on nation or state wide laws to prevent gun crime we could do a lot more by focusing on the issues of the areas with high gun crime and trying to cure the issues that cause homicide.
