To be fair, there ARE 3 Winthrop corpses laying around in various states of intactness.

All my character did was observe that there were three Winthrop's on the floor and then saw that Winthrop was somehow still alive so he assumed that he was a powerful technomancer capable of resurrecting himself.

The debuff applies whether you use the extra action or not. Also, your current chosen action requires the android to perform it. You can't upgrade the android's computer as an ephemeral being.

Also, the android is not dying this round. He'd need to roll a 5 or higher to one shot it, and his action is getting a -2 difficulty penalty

Rewriting code won't upgrade a computer.
