I never understood why countries (except Israel) don't draft women, too.

Physically and mentally weaker, less disciplined, they're less likely to sacrifice themselves for the greater good or something, etc. Plus war means casualties and you need women to replenish them by giving birth to men and if women will take part in the fighting, then it would make this process much slower.

Hadn't thought about it until recently. The Marines offer some stellar opportunities right off the bat, and several of my buddies signed up a while back and enjoy it. It's something to consider, but law school is still the top goal.

I doubt it. Communists always try and break convention. The Soviets tried to pretend for a while that their military wasn't an actual military but was rather a glorious people's militia.
