International Hockey Discussion Thread (OOC, version II)

The deadline for the 11th Hockey Champions League is a week from now. Reposting it here in hopes to get more participants and breathe some new life into the competition. As much fun as it is to constantly win, for the good of the tournament, there needs to be more entrants and competitiveness. That I am the only nation to enter the last five editions is a major factor in the rank disparity that is hampering the competition's health. Even when halving my rank and altering the scorination process to make the playing field more even, it is still resulting in skewed results. So I am asking the community to please enter into this edition and the coming ones to restore balance and competitiveness to the HCL, lest it fizzle out into nothingness for a fourth time.

Perhaps it would also be wise of us to look at potentially getting either the WCOH or WJHC going while the Winter Olympics are, could possibly get some people who watch the RL international hockey and then want to see how their nations do over here.

The WJHC makes more sense to host right now, at best you'll pull in 16-20 teams, making it easier and quicker to host rather than a hectic WCOH in which you'll be pulling in a heavy amount of traffic with a minimum of 32 teams.

Of course, I retired at the end of the 34th edition for things I don't really want to get into (but the condensed version is simply "I've lost all interest in the tournament"), but I figured I might as well spread the word so everyone knows.

Wow, despite two shite tournaments in a row I'm ranked first? Huh. Now I'm starting to have second thoughts about retiring from the WCoH; in fact, I'm going to miss this one (due to the Winter Olympics going on and not really willing to divide my time between two big competitions) and hopefully return for the 36th.

And no, I'm not complaining about the 33rd and 34th tournaments (although they did have problems), I was more talking about my guys' performance.

EDIT: Just to remind everyone that there's less than 48 hours before the deadline for World Cup of Hockey 35 host bids. So if anyone's interested in hosting it might be an idea to get something up as soon as possible.

i) Nations, excluding prior hosts, will be removed from the World Cup of Hockey Federation after failure to participate (posting a roster at minimum) in two consecutive World Cups of Hockey.
ii) Prior hosts of a World Cup of Hockey will be removed from the World Cup of Hockey Federation after failure to participate (posting a roster at minimum) in three consecutive World Cups of Hockey.

It appears I'm not currently listed as a member of the WCoHF but based on the above, I believe I should still be listed as a member. I last posted a roster in WCoH 33 so even if I wasn't a prior host of the WCoH, I believe that would apply. I did change primary WCoH nations from Saintland to Ilyseum to Free Republics over the years but normally membership has been associated with the user, not the nation.

Same here. Neither Gregoryisgodistan nor South Covello are listed as members even though I've posted at least a roster in every tournament since I've started (and am a prior host.) Perhaps whoever made the list is using a different definition of "participate" than what the Constitution says.

Unless he also failed to post a roster in WCoH 33 and WCoH 32, he should be on the Federation.

Fair enough. Needless to say, FFR can't vote in this host bid but they can nominate someone for President. This whole thing is having me take a closer look at the constitution and wondering if there should be an amendment to better align the entry and removal process of Federation Members. This case shows just how out of sync it currently is, and while in this case it does not overly effect much with FFR bidding to host, it could do so in the future and might have done in the past. I am not certain if I will put a proposal forward but I do welcome discussion on ways that the Membership entry and removal might be better synced or the wording in the constitution made more clear.

I'd actually be in favor of adopting a roster and an RP for both entry and removal even if it would probably have meant I wouldn't be a WCoHF member right now. I definitely see how the current language can be confusing.

Ditto. I've served two terms already and have no interest in any more, especially if it means I end up being the proper president instead of the vice-pres. It also doesn't help that I'm skipping the 35th edition due to both a lack of interest and because the Winter Olympics are also going on at the moment and I'd rather do that (if I could think of something good to RP about), although I'm not ruling out a return for the 36th just yet.

P.S. Thanks to the Union of Socialist Alpine Republics for pointing out that there wasn't a "re-open host bids" option in the last WCoH Federation post; I've gone back and fixed that.
