New Neros wrote:Major superhero NPC Gaul will fight here in a second.

Name: Abraxas McClellan | Solar
Age: 38
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance:
Young Blood?: No.
Bio: A California native, Abraxas was born to loving and nuturing parents, who were quick to realize the growth and potential of their son, along with his powers, and they reluctantly gave him to higher representatives of the superpowered community so that he could be raised in a proper environment, where his powers could be used for good. His parents made it a habit to see and spend time with their son, forging a strong bond with their child and influencing his growth into a strong, family-oriented superhero as time wore on. He was a strong candidate to join the original Wonder Warriors, but settled for being an associate working alongside the team throughout the Southwest, where he forged his own identity and superhero name.

Their subsequent massacre in 1999 left a profound effect on Solar, who was twenty at the time. His worldview grew dark, his actions became bolder and more hardline against villains and criminals alike, who Solar began to see as analogues to the villains that murdered his friends. He holds himself responsible, and feels like he could have helped save the Wonder Warriors had he been fully apart of the team. That mindset continued and still does to this day, Solar refusing to join up with other heroes or interact much with others for fear of suffering a loss as he had before. That does not stop his roaring popularity, however, as his name is well-known across the United States and in the Southwest in particular, becoming almost a folk hero in Arizona, New Mexico, West Texas, and Southern California where he operates.

In an off-screen bout, Solar and a then-relatively-unknown villainous vigilante Mustafa Gaul fought tooth and nail in Phoenix, where Solar calls home, in the afternoon hours of July. Solar easily emerged victorious, but the popularity boost Gaul received for so much as surviving an encounter with Solar has put both a target on the self-proclaimed villains' head and gained a large, notorious following in just a few hours after Gaul's fight videos went viral. Solar is looking to end things permanently with Gaul and prevent him from reaching San Diego, where Solar fears he will attempt to copycat the Wonder Warrior Massacre. To that end, several search teams have been dispatched to find the villain and his team, and report his location to Solar, who has reserved his strength specifically for a fatal, final confrontation.
Powers:
  • [Supernatural Cells]: Solar's biological tissues undergo a powerful type of photosynthesis that grants him extremely high amounts of strength, durability, speed, and cognitive abilities when exposed to sunlight and solar radiation. He's unable to eject the energy from his body and more of a closed battery, but is able to store the energy within his cells through the night in order to last until the next day as needed. His power appears as a Supernatural Condition, but this is it's core ability.
  • [Flight]: The supernatural process that grants Abraxas strength and speed from his cells also grants him the ability to fly, allowing him to lift himself from the ground and zoom around the skies with just as much speed and accuracy as when he's on the ground. The added mobility of the power makes him a noteworthy foe, one who utilizes his increased agility, speed, durability, and strength in a brutal combination to wipe the absolute floor with most opponents.

Limitations:
  • Solar has a limit of energy storage that his cells can attain, which puts him at high tiers of power, but can go no higher as his cells cannot handle the excess. Rather than overload on the energy, the cells "close off" and limit his intake of solar energy, letting Solar burn through the reserves before opening up once more.
  • He is constantly burning off energy, and will need to be replenished every so often even if he doesn't use his powers more than a normal person. What's more, artificial sources do not work, he requires natural sunlight directly to be replenished.

Weaknesses:
  • [Night]: Solar makes a note to hardly engage enemies in the nighttime, as he will burn through energy without having a steady source to replenish it. Once he reaches a critical energy depleted zone, his body's functions begin to cease until he either gets energy once more or he dies.
  • [Exertion]: Abraxas needs energy constantly, and if he's constantly putting it out without a way to replenish it, or is giving out more energy than he can take in, then he will run out of energy. Even in broad daylight, he has to be aware of his limits and how much energy he has left.
  • [Absorption]: McClellan can have his energy stolen or depleted through other powers or sufficient artificial means, putting him in a weakened state..

Likes: Fighting Villains, Sunshine, Friendly People
Dislikes: Villains, Criminals, Crime in General.

Looks good, so I'll accept it. Do you, uh, want me to add him to the archive? I ask since he's not really a player character and stuff.

Good post. Looks like being out of practice didn't hit that hard :P I look forward to seeing how she develops.

In case you missed it, I suggested that maybe your character could know Icarus from school. He's mostly a loner on account of rumors being unkind to him, but I figure he'd have a few friends (some people offered back when the RP was starting, but I think most dropped out). Plus they're both vigilantes, and frankly, he could use some connections. His interactions with other people's player characters so far amount to him butting heads with Violet once :P

Name: Diego Belcourt
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance (pics if possible): Here
Young Blood?: No
Bio: Born in Los Angeles to the great Belcourt Family, Diego was raised by a distant mother who placed a lot of expectations on her child, and he grew up with a strong desire to prove himself worthy, to make his parents proud and bring honor to his family, and to follow rules and orders. An experience from when he was ten years old stuck with him. He trained with another magic user, but kept losing at training despite his perfect form. His mother pointed out that in his attempts to perfect his techniques, he became predictable, and thus needed to step outside of the rules and break form to surprise his opponent. Diego listened and broke the other child's nose. When chided by the boy's mother, he simply took it, knowing it would make his mother proud to see him accept consequences for his actions. When he was around eleven years old, Theo Hale was taken in by his parents after the death of the boy's father. The two almost immediately hit it off. Shortly after taking the boy in, Diego realized that he had developed romantic feelings for Theo and because a romantic relationship would be frowned upon, he spent the next few years of his life in denial about his feelings.

On his 16th birthday, Diego found out he was accepted into the art program that he had applied for and went back home to tell his family. Upon returning home, he found something that would forever change him. His home had been attacked, and his parents were killed in the process. However, he noticed that Theo was nowhere to be found. Overcome in his grief, Diego let out an immense blast of magical energy that radiated for miles. His emotional blast had soon put him on the radar of his parent's murderers. Diego was now part of a bounty, for the Belcourt Family were known for being renowned and powerful magic users, and being the last of his family's legacy, he was now worth more than he had ever made in his life. Now he spends most days unlike many other people his age. While most are out spending time with friends or go to school, Diego is now running for his life while also trying to juggle the mastering of his abilities.
Powers:
  • [Spell Casting]: Diego has the ability that allows him to magically alter reality to varying extents. It is often a series of words that take effect when spoken. Initially, he cast his magic through a unique form of self-taught spell casting involving stating repeatedly an effect or action he wants to happen ("Water to ice, water to ice"), and has managed to precede from this method ever since. At varying times he is able to cast spells merely by thinking, though they are limited most notably only to levitation, thought-casting, and illusion casting. Certain actions can also be done with gestures, such as flinging someone out of the way with the wave of his hand. Finally, his magic may be enhanced with magical objects, such as the amulet he wears around his neck which provides him with the ability to channel his magic.
  • [Electrokinesis]: Can manipulate, generate and discharge energy projections as either lightning or electricity from his hands or other parts of his body. Which gives him control over electric fields, electric charges, electric currents, electronics, and electromagnetism. This seems to not require the verbal components like his other spells. He is capable of combining or performing his electokinetic powers in unison with spells.
  • [Solid Energy Constructs]: Can generate and manipulate energy to create solid constructs such as disks, orbs, bursts, shields, platforms, force fields, and other projectiles or constructions.
  • [Flight]: Can engage in self-propelled flight.

Limitations:
  • [Inexperience]: Even though he is well versed in many simple areas of magic, he is still unable to enact more powerful spells as they require more magical power and training and can easily misuse a spell creating unpredictable results.
  • [Physical Condition]: His spells have a degree of unreliability, which is further affected by his physical condition: when well rested, in good health, and mentally and emotionally alert, he could cast numerous spells in rapid succession and attain desirable results for almost an hour.
  • [Overexertion]: Despite this enhanced precision, his spells are not necessarily guaranteed to work, particularly if he has been straining himself or using his powers excessively. If overextended, his spells could backfire, causing probability to work against his wishes or to undo previous spells.
  • [Mental Health]: Although he appears to be currently sane, his mental stability is questionable. He has undergone mental breakdowns, episodes of mental illness, and severe depression relating to his powers and personal traumas.

Weaknesses:
  • [Asafoetida]: Unique only to his family, Diego, along with the rest of the Belcourt family have an odd reaction when in contact with the herb Asafoetida. Within a few minutes after exposure through either inhalation or consumption, an uncontrollable shaking of the hands begins. It is possible to use magic to cleanse his system of the herb if done soon enough, but prolonged exposure leads to weakness, pain, anxiety and inability to concentrate, which further intereferes with his ability to cast the proper spell to rid his body of the substance. If not taken care of soon, the herb will slowly poison him.
  • [Amulet]: Even though the amulet he wears provides him with a conduit for his mystical energy, it also comes with a price. If deprived from his amulet for a sufficient period of time, he slowly becomes unable to cast spells properly and they will cease until the amulet is restored, leaving him powerless. If the amulet is destroyed, then he no longer has a conduit, which could lead him to being overwhelmed by his own mystical energies with unknown consequences.
  • [Water]: Due to the lack of experience, he is extremely sensitive to anything that may "short circuit" him, such as water, which could cause him to burn out.

No seriously, even if they are similar now I plan on Cain being pretty dynamic rather than static. By the time she develops she may be essentially a new character.

Also, regarding the similarities between Red and Red Raven, I think Fin might have meant not just in terms of character traits, but also thematically (I didn't think much of it earlier, but it is true that both characters are badass normals that rely on martial arts and firearms and have bikes).

Hi everyone! I'm interested in joining but I don't know if this would be too much to add because it would mean adding another country and idk how tough you guys are about that.

Five second rough summary is this teen whos an Atlantean, now Atlantis would have sunk and crashed into the sea long ago but the teen would have been the crown prince and sent off towards land in a cryo pod but it broke keeping him in stasis for 7,000 years. Atlaneans would only have superior tech and on average would be more fit then the rest of the world but other then that have no biological differences. His story arc would be him going from idk somewhere in the U.S or Canada down to the Lost City and getting his armor which is basically a mix between the Didact's armor from Halo and Iron Man's armor. That's just a rough idea obviously this is all mostly subject to change I wanted feedback before I go into the effort of a full on app

Well, as far as creating new countries and adding lore to the roleplay, we don't really mind. We welcome new additions, so long as they conform to what has been established before (first come first served and all that jazz). Quickly looking through the summary you gave, I think it should work, there might be a few issues but nothing that can't be worked out.

Main thing I can think of mentioning is to keep power level in mind. On average, you won't see members of this roleplay busting multi-story buildings or something like that, so try to stick to that. I'm not really familiar with the Didact's armor from Halo, but as long as your character's power is reasonably limited, there shouldn't be any issues.

Thanks. The OP, me and a few others spent a good while hashing out the lore before posting it, so I think I can speak for everyone when I say I'm glad it makes a good impression :P

Cool. Icarus will be busy for most of the current IC day, I think, but they can meet up later -nods-

Also, regarding the similarities between Red and Red Raven, I think Fin might have meant not just in terms of character traits, but also thematically (I didn't think much of it earlier, but it is true that both characters are badass normals that rely on martial arts and firearms and have bikes).

Shastara wrote:Hi everyone!

Ah ok sweet! I was mainly going to use the Didact's armor for looks anyway and I don't think that powers will be an issue. I'll get working on an app should be up sometime tomorrow. Looking forward to joining!

Aye aye, still open. We did not forget to change the title to "closed" or anything silly like that :P

I've had that happen to me, actually. One RP had apparently been closed for three weeks by the time I found it--the OP had just never bothered to, yunno, note that in the title. It was the most baffling experience I've had on NS.

It wasn't really weird, though. Some RP just maintained a close-knit community of players that they didn't bother to changed the title.

So Covenant declare a crusade and then wage jihad? :p

Small, random, and possibly weird idea that came into my head this morning:

For shits and giggles, I'm thinking of writing a variety of short stories featuring the Young Bloods when they're "Off Duty". Most of these would be lighthearted stories, with nothing really serious happening in them. Of course, I'd get explicit permission from the players who controlled these characters, and nothing I'd write would be officially canon unless the players want it to be.

Thoughts?

Funny one-shots? Sounds great to me :P

Feel free to use NPCs and whatnot as well. As long as it's not canon, I'm relatively sure you can do whatever you want.

I'm in, probably some funny deja vu material for Red and Raven.

Just read Red's app though. He would totally kick Cain's ass tho. :p

I was planning on just making a Google Doc of them that will be available.

You could just post them here if you want. One-shots typically go into the OOC (as far as I've seen, at least).
