As for myself, I imagine with continued economic growth, Trump could regain some popularity if he keeps his mouth shut, but I also imagine that something will go wrong between now and the midterms that will again cause his approval rating to drop below 40% again.

I forgot to mention the shutdown, too. After the shutdown ended, even our local Democratic Party branch seemed to admit that it was going to take a small toll, but a toll nonetheless, on our party.

I think the tax cuts and more money in people's pockets this year will have a lot to do with the rise of Trump's approval ratings this year, if there's any.

If DACA passes legislative muster under Trump there might be an even more pronounced approval uptick.

Latest Gallup poll (Jan 22-28) has his approval at 87% of the GOP, 33% of Independents and 7% of Dems. There's not a lot of give in these numbers over time either.
