Oh he's affected. He can't throw his big inauguration anniversary party any more.

Man, that was a lot of money for him, I believe you could pay USD100, 000 for two seats and a selfie with him.. and I'm not even joking about the selfie..

US President Donald Trump will mark the first anniversary of his inauguration on Saturday with a celebration at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, with tickets starting at US$100,000 a pair.

That amount, according to the invitation, will pay for dinner and a photograph with the president. For US$250,000, a couple can also take part in a roundtable.

Remember how Carter was forced to sell his peanut farm so he wouldn't be earning a profit while in office?

I am seriously counting the days until Trump declares himself le Roi Soleil.

The status of DACA will not be put on the table by the GOP in exchange for a CR.

It's cute to see McConnell trying to pretend to be the good guy in all this.

It's not working, but it's entertaining.

So the scale of the disinformation campaign run on Twitter during the election is starting to become clear.

"Through our supplemental analysis, we have identified 13,512 additional accounts, for a total of 50,258 automated accounts that we identified as Russian-linked and Tweeting election-related content during the election period," the website's staff said.

From the Cato Institute (not known for its liberal bona fides), an article on the House bill Securing America's Future Act, backed by who else? It makes for a lot of "holy shit this is legit worse than anything I've ever seen" moments.

Several other security provisions are also problematic. Mandatory E-Verify (p. 87) will impose massive regulatory costs on small businesses, establish a federal national identification system that includes all U.S. workers, and cause hundreds of thousands of Americans to have their jobs delayed or lost entirely due to database errors—all while having a track record of failure in every state that has tried to use it to prevent illegal employment.

The small government and WE NEED LESS REGULATION fanatics aren't going to like that at all.

When, exactly, did George Soros buy the Cato Institute.

I'm still hung up on McConnel voting No.. and here the Cato Institute, is it the trickle of dissent against the President among the Right turning slowly into a stream?

McConnell had to vote "no" for procedural reasons, so he could bring the bill up again. I'm sure he's not happy with the current form since it looks like he knew it wouldn't pass, but don't mistake that for a sudden spine growth.

Wait, so you have the Presidency, the House, and the Senate, and the government still shuts down? You can try to pass the buck to the Dems all you like, the fact is that the GOP had control, and this is the result. How many spare feet do they have? They've already shot several.

Call me Mr Lazy.. but can you explain the procedural point.. I'm genuinely ignorant on this.

I don't know the specifics myself, but most of the news services I've read add the caveat ("for procedural reason") whenever McConnell's vote is mentioned. The Hill is the only one to elaborate:

Forty-five Republicans and five Democrats backed the bill, while 44 Democrats and four Republicans opposed it in addition to McConnell, who cast a "no" vote for procedural reasons to preserve his right to bring the bill up again.

It's funny but.. it's tragically true - I suspect it's how he thinks.. zero sum game, win or lose.
