OOC THREAD
A year after the 2017 legislative election, Pisdaris are heading back to the polls to elect councilors to the local level of government. With the Patriotic Front alliance staying on the top of polls, can the split opposition deny the Patriots majority control of the local councils, and can politicians in general help to rebuild trust in a apathetic public after a slew of terrorist attacks, gaffes, and scandals over the past year?
WHAT IS THIS?
This is an interactive election for the 2nd Pisdari local election. Here, you can roleplay as a candidate during the campaign and try to gain seats in the local councils. Campaign, form a platform, and bloviate as hard as you can to win support and votes.
Important note: This roleplay is for nations in the region of Esquarium only. Sadly, I will not allow those from outside the region to RP here.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Great question! Just fill out the application below and post it to this thread. I will approve (I 99.99% approve it ) the application and, if creating a political party, provide the party's translation into Pisdari and French.
To RP here, you MUST create and apply as a candidate, who can either affiliate with a existing party, run independently, or form their own party with other candidates! As a note, Pisdari politics runs on two spectrums, the traditional left-right divide, and the division between continuing close relations with the former colonizer of Ainin (pro-free association) or being against such efforts (anti-free association). Please keep this in mind while creating your candidate. For those returning with a existing candidate or political party, simply just state that you are running in this election by stating so in the OOC Thread. Thank you!
Please use the application below create you candidate!
Helpful Hints: If you wish to run as a candidate for an already existing party, please make sure that the main RPer for that party knows first and has given their approval. For picking names for your leaders, I suggest using these generators for Pisdari and French.

THE SITUATION IN PISDARA
Will be updated!
Notes about political structure and government
The Pisdari political system does not operate like most political systems, where there is a clearly defined government and opposition. Instead, the Pisdari political system runs on the basis of a consensus government, where all deputies represented are part of government functions. In local councils, one councilor is elected Mayor, and heads the council in administrative duties, although their power is minimal. Since the Mayor is elected by the council, coalition-building is key, unlike on Pisdara's federal level, and councilors must work together to run an effective government.
For voting, Pisdara uses single transferable vote (STV) to elect 80 local councilors. There are 15 constituencies, electing 4 councilors each.
